In this webinar recap, we’ll explore what Khanmigo, Khan Academy’s AI tool for K-12 US teachers, can do to make educator’s time better spent. This recap will cover three of the features that make this tool valuable, and how they can be used to advance the teaching journey. Recap of Feature 1: Data

The first feature we covered was the Class Snapshot. This feature gives teachers a quick overview of their class’s weekly progress on Khan Academy. The Class Snapshot includes critical data points such as Learning Time, Assignments, Skills, and Course Mastery. Teachers can spot trends and areas needing attention by using this tool. It’s an efficient method for identifying areas of weakness in students that need extra support, and those who could use a high five. For example, we demonstrated how a teacher can ask for a list of students who should be celebrated for their growth.

Recap of Feature 2: Prep

The second feature we explored was Khanmigo’s ability to accelerate teacher’s prep time. Khanmigo can assist teachers in various aspects of their preparation, from refreshing a brand new teacher’s knowledge about their subject, to designing lesson hooks that make new concepts stick. With Khanmigo’s suite of tools, teachers can create warm-up activities that get students excited, draft exit ticket questions, and co-create rubrics for evaluating students’ work- including exemplars to save time grading. This feature allows teachers to focus on delivering quality education to students and less on creating materials that they can derive from Khanmigo.

Recap of Feature 3: Adapt

Finally, we discussed how Khanmigo can clarify content based on specific needs. Khanmigo is an AI that can generate responses and adjust them based on the teacher’s preferences. For example, teachers can ask Khanmigo to simplify or expand its responses, publish responses at a different reading level, or tailor them to suit their preferences. This highly personalized feature enables teachers to customize their learning materials, which can have a profound impact on students’ learning outcomes.
