Finally… | The Survival Gardener

When we moved, we packed up our collection of books into about 30-40 boxes.

Over the course of 2022, I was reading through The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire… and then, somehow, the last three unread volumes got packed deeply. For the last few months I couldn’t find them.

Until a few minutes ago, when I opened the fifth-to-last box at the bottom of a stuffed closet of boxed books.

Now I can get back to it. That is, once I finish reading the five or so books I’m currently working through.

I’ll feel really moved in once we finally have some epic bookshelves we can put all these books on. Another set of books we were looking for was our two volumes on cheesemaking, and we found those as well. Going through books took up a chunk of this afternoon, but the process was mitigated by the presence of my wife, our two vodka tonics, and an upbeat jazz playlist on YouTube.

As a side quest, I also organized a large kitchen cabinet.

All that to say, I’m so pleased with this afternoon’s hunt, I decided to commemorate this historic occasion in a post.
