Apple Caramel Jello Shots Ingredients
Jello Shot Recipes don’t require a ton of ingredients. In addition to boiling water and cold water, here are the ingredients to make apple caramel jello shots:
- Green Apple Jello – I always use Sonic Green Apple since the sour flavor profile aligns with the tart apple of the booze.
- Caramel Vodka – you can use regular vodka and keep the caramel flavoring from the caramel sauce.
- De Kuyper Sour Apple Pucker – DeKuyer Sour Apple Pucker is what provides the sour green apple flavor. It’s what goes in my absolute favorite cocktail – the Apple Martini.
- Caramel Sauce – You want a nice and thick caramel sauce. My homemade caramel sauce is an excellent option, as is Smucker’s caramel sauce from the grocery store.

How to Make Green Apple Jello Shots
Here’s a quick overview of making jello shots. Reference the recipe card below for full details and instructions.
- Whisk together the gelatin and boiling water until the jello has dissolved.
- Mix in the sour apple schnapps, and vodka.
- Pour into 2 oz. plastic shot glasses and transfer to the fridge for 2-4 hours.
- Top with a small layer of caramel sauce. Refrigerate for another 2-4 hours for the caramel to firm up.
- Serve and enjoy.

Darcey’s Expert Tips
- Replace all the booze with apple juice or apple cider to make a non-alcohol Jell-O shot. It will change the flavor, but it will be booze-free!
- Make the jello mixture in a large measuring cup with a pour spout. It makes it MUCH easier to pour and avoid spills.
- Place the plastic cups on a cookie sheet before filling. It makes cleaning up any spills and transferring in and out of the refrigerator easier.
- Garnish with a sprinkle of edible glitter to take it up a notch.
- Keep the shots refrigerated until ready to serve to keep the firm texture.
- These caramel apple jello shots can be made up to 2 days before, without the caramel. Add the caramel to the top right before serving.

Ingredients
GREEN LAYER
- 1 cup boiling water
- 3 oz green jello (*Note 1)
- ½ cup caramel vodka (*Note 2)
- ½ cup De Kuyper Sour Apple Pucker (*Note 3)
CARAMEL LAYER
- 1 cup thick caramel sauce (*Note 4)
Instructions

Optional: Place the Jello cups on a cookie sheet.

Add the Jello and boiling water to a large mixing bowl and stir to combine. Keep stirring until all crystals have dissolved (approx. 1 minute).

Add the vodka and sour apple pucker and stir to combine.

Carefully pour the liquid into the shot cups, filling halfway.

Transfer to the refrigerator and let chill for a minimum of 2 hours, until set.

Carefully squeeze or spoon about 1 tbsp of caramel on top of the set green jello.

Remove from the refrigerator right before serving.
Notes
Note 2 – You can use plain vodka as well. It won’t be as Caramel-forward, but it will still taste amazing.
Note 3 – I only use De Kuyper Sour Apple Pucker, but any other brand will work.
Note 4 – Make sure to use a thick caramel sauce so it “sets” on top of the shot.
