Eight people are dead and dozens more are injures after a crash involving a pickup truck and a bus in Central Florida. Eight of those people are critically injured, the Florida Highway Patrol said. According to FHP, the 2010 International Bus was transporting 53 migrant farmers to Cannon Farms in Dunellon.FHP says the crash happened just before 6:35 a.m. Tuesday no State Route 40 in Ocala.For reasons to be determined, the bus and a Ford Ranger truck collided in a “sideswiped manner,” FHP said. After the collision, FHP says the bus traveled off the roadway, went through a fence and then overturned. On social media, Cannon Farms said they will be closed today.”Please pray with us for the families and the loved ones involved in this tragic accident,” Cannon Farms said.AdventHealth is currently treating 16 patients from the crash, the hospital told sister station WESH. Twelve patients are in the main emergency department at AdventHealth in Ocala and four are in the emergency room at AdventHealth Timber Ridge, the hospital said.”Our prayers are with all those affected by the tragic bus accident in Ocala this morning,” AdventHealth said in a statement to WESH. “Our immediate priority is to provide exceptional medical care to those injured, and compassionate support to our patients and their loved ones.”HCA Florida West Marion Hospital is also taking patients from the crash and told WESH that five are in the emergency room right now.The roadway is shut down in both directions. Marion County Public Schools says one of their school buses was not involved in the crash but says they did transport victims to the hospital.This is a developing story.
