It was in many ways a historic evening yesterday, when Their Majesties the King and Queen held the Council of State dinner for the first time in Frederik VIII’s Palace at Amalienborg. A cabinet dinner is held as far as possible once in each government’s term of office.
Before dinner, Their Majesties were photographed together with the Council of State on the steps of the mansion’s Fane Hall. When you enter Frederik VIII’s Palace as a guest, the Fane Hall is the first room you experience, and it is in the Fane Hall that the Royal Banners have belonged since the transfer of the banners at the change of throne on 14 January 2024.
The State Council is the body of the state government where all laws and important government measures are dealt with. The main content of the meetings is to ratify the bills that the Danish Parliament has adopted, as well as to submit to the King the bills that the government intends to put forward.
