Kevin Phillips, former vocalist of southern-fried metalcore band Fight Paris, has successfully won the mayoral race in Port Royal, SC. Phillips unseated incumbent Joe DeVito by a 60% to 40% margin. According to Yahoo! News, the final count was 628 votes to DeVito‘s 411 votes.

Prior to his life as an attorney (and now mayor), Phillips fronted Fight Paris. The band put out one record called Paradise Found in 2005 via the legendary Trustkill Records. Phillips moved to Port Royal in 2017, became part of the town council in 2019, and here were are now. Dude’s a regular Justin Brannan-styled success story in politics.
