90-year-old man dies following multi-vehicle crash in New Bern

Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Saturday in New Bern, leaving one person dead.

At around 11:03 a.m., New Bern police responded to a crash at South Glenburnie Road and Elizabeth Avenue intersection.

According to the investigation, a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling north on Glenburnie Road when it suddenly crossed the center line and collided with a 2000 Ford Super Duty truck heading south.

The impact led to a second crash involving the truck and a 2015 Toyota Highlander, causing the Highlander to flip over.

Both the drivers of the Chevrolet Equinox and the Toyota Highlander were taken to Carolina East Medical Center for treatment.

The driver of the Chevrolet Equinox, 90-year-old Clifford Oliver, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
