NILES, Ill. — An 85-year-old woman is uninjured after crashing her vehicle into a Hobby Lobby in Niles on Thursday morning.

Niles police responded to the retail store, located at 7229 West Dempster, around 11:20 a.m. for a report of a vehicle crash into a building.

According to police, the elderly woman, driving a 2009 Nissan Altima, drove through the north wall of Hobby Lobby – with a portion of the vehicle inside when officers arrived to the scene.

The 85-year-old was not trapped in the vehicle and was not injured. No occupants of the business were injured, police said.

Inspectors determined the building’s structural integrity was not compromised and the business was allowed to remain open.

Police said the cause of the crash was determined to be driver error. There were no citations issued.
