(KRON) – A fatal vehicle collision shut down all northbound lanes on Highway 101 south of Canyon Road in Geyserville on Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol in Santa Rosa.
All lanes were closed. As of 4:30 p.m., all lanes reopened, CHP said. The crash was first reported at around noon.
BART Red Line suspended Saturday afternoon
Initial reports were of a car that “landed on its roof” with occupants in the vehicle. CHP reported four male passengers in a Honda Accord, with one of the passengers reported dead.
CHP said the Honda was driving southbound “at a high rate of speed in rainy conditions” on US101 when it lost control and went through the center median — which had no wall — leading it to crash into a Subaru Outback driving northbound.
The Subaru had three passengers, including a mother and her baby, CHP said. Two of the three passengers were taken to a nearby hospital in Santa Rosa, and the extent of their injuries is unknown. The baby in the backseat “does not appear to be injured.”
US101 northbound was closed from the time of the crash until approximately 4:30 p.m. All southbound lanes remained open, according to CHP.
