Any character from the Scooby-Doo gang is the perfect Halloween costume for a solo party goer, or you can grab up to four of your best friends to make up the whole mystery-solving gang! This one is timeless and will surely be recognizable as you step into the party. Each character can be easily made at home or thrifted, using solid long and short sleeve shirts and a few iconic scarves if you choose to go as Daphne or Fred. In your future, we see you stepping up your costume game even more by bringing a magnifying glass as a prop. This will let it be known that you will find all of the hidden clues by the end of the night!

    Card #2: Queen Of Pentacles

    Legally Blonde’s Bunny Costume

We see you becoming the ultimate combination of sexy and smart by borrowing Elle Woods’ costume from the cult classic Legally Blonde. Elle Woods is just that girl; it simply will not be a Halloween party without one in attendance. Lucky for you, we saw in your future that you had everyone’s head turn with how great you looked in this outfit. Bonus points if you DIY this one! What? Like it’s hard? Grab a pair of pink tights, a pink corset, hot glue, feathers, and your favorite pair of pink heels. Don’t have the DIY gene? Here is the perfect premade costume that will still make everyone’s heads turn.

    Card #3: The Lovers

    Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars

This one is fun, and will show everyone that you have far more superior music taste than everyone else at the party. You will become the chart-topping duo, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, from their iconic ‘Die With A Smile’ music video. Lady Gaga had the entire world gobsmacked with her carefree and iconic dancing in the ‘Die With A Smile’ music video. Now it’s your turn to do the same. Bring your partner or your bff, either way, this 70s-inspired look is perfect for any music-loving fan.

    Card #4: The Fool

    Jersey Shore

Get crazy, get loud! We see you fist-bumping onto the scene as the whole ‘Jersey Shore’ gang! There’s never anything wrong with going solo; you can also choose to go as your favorite individual partygoer from the bunch. You will surely stand out on the dance floor with this fierce look by channeling your 2010 New Jersey fantasy. Start by teasing your hair big and bringing out your favorite animal print. As for makeup, you can’t forget to put on extra smokey eyeshadow. This is also your chance to finally put that old, bizarrely orange foundation to good use without any judgment. That’s what Halloween is all about! You’re just embracing the 2010s tan look.

    Card #5: Death

    Sabrina Carpenter and Jenna Ortega

You’ll surely make an unforgettable appearance as the stylish yet gruesome duo! For Sabrina, all you’ll need is a gingham square-neck corsetcapris, and fake blood. It’s all about the details. Level up your costume with a silver heart necklace, which will bring out the sweetness of this look. As for Jenna, keep it simple with a form-fitting black dress and heels. Bonus points if you find a safe prop chainsaw to bring along with you for the night. You can never take it too far on Halloween!

    Card #6: Three Of Wands

  • Seven Modern Classic Movies To Rewatch For The Ultimate Fall Vibes

    [ad_1]

The time has come! The leaves are changing colors, the stores are starting to smell like cinnamon, and everything pumpkin is available at our fingertips! All of this could only mean one thing, and it’s that our favorite way to end our day is with one of these movies for the foreseeable future!

    Halloweentown (1998)

You simply can’t go through the fall/Halloween season without watching Halloweentown. It would be borderline criminal. There is nothing quite like the music that plays when the Cromwell kids first enter Halloweentown, seeing Debbie Reynolds be the greatest movie grandmother of all time, or seeing the quaint town of St. Helens, Oregon, transform on screen into our dream location.

    Practical Magic (1998)

This movie is as close to perfect as a movie has ever been. Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman light up on screen and bring such warmth and whimsy into the film. This movie features the best song placement in our memory with ‘This Kiss’ by Faith Hill, and features a quote we have lived by ever since. So remember, always throw spilled salt over your left shoulder, keep rosemary by your garden gate, plant lavender for luck, and fall in love whenever you can.

    Knives Out (2019)

A murder mystery featuring Chris Evans as the villain, Daniel Craig as the detective, and a career-high performance from Ana de Armas? Count us in! This movie does a perfect job at keeping you guessing, yet if you watch it again, you will see each clue that led up to the reveal clear as day. It’s the ideal fall family watch with a star-studded cast.

    Beetlejuice (1988)

Beetlejuice is synonymous with the spooky season. Like clockwork, the calendar turns to October and we are set ready to sing along to some Harry Belafonte and remember what sparked our love for obscure art and tiny replicas. Beetlejuice has become a cultural mainstay; you can’t go into any Halloween section without seeing the face of Michael Keaton looking back at you, as it should be.

    Twilight (2008)

It is officially Twilight season! We have ‘Eyes on Fire’ by Blue Foundation on repeat, we are relishing in the rainy days, and we are falling right back into a time when the only choice we had to make that held weight was if we were Team Edward or Team Jacob. This movie launched the careers of some of the best working actors today, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, so technically, we have Stephanie Meyer to thank for the best Batman movie!

    Hocus Pocus (1993)

We know we said Beetlejuice is synonymous with spooky season, but Hocus Pocus gives it a run for its money! From the endless quotes that have become a normal part of the cultural zeitgeist to the Sanderson Sisters being on every piece of merch imaginable, there is no escaping what a timeless film Hocus Pocus has evolved into.

    Scooby-Doo (2002)

Scooby-Doo may just be the best casted movie of all time. They nailed every single role and crafted the world of Spooky Island in a way that made it feel real. We still think not making Spooky Island into a real amusement park was a miss of epic proportions. We actually are going to go watch this movie right now, and relish in what masterpiece it is.

Check out more of our Fall/Halloween coverage here!

We would love to hear from you! What is your comfort falltime movie? Is it Hocus Pocus? Is it Twilight? Let us know by commenting below or by tweeting us @TheHoneyPOP! We are also on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok!

  • Warner Bros. Discovery is suing Midjourney for copyright infringement

    [ad_1]

Warner Bros. Discovery has filed a lawsuit against popular AI image generator Midjourney, accusing it of stealing and exploiting its intellectual properties. The complaint revolves around the AI tool’s ability to generate images and videos of Warner Bros.’ popular fictional characters, including Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Scooby Doo, Bugs Bunny and his friends from Looney Tunes. “Midjourney thinks it is above the law,” the company wrote in its lawsuit. It said that the image generator sells a commercial subscription service powered by AI technology that was illegally trained using its copyrighted works.

The company argued that Midjourney has the technology to prevent users from generating images of the characters it owns. It apparently refused to generate videos based on Warner Bros.’ properties when it first launched its video model. But within the past couple of weeks, it allegedly removed those protections and told its users that they would encounter “fewer blocked jobs.” The ability to generate Warner Bros.’ characters are a clear draw for its subscription service that costs $10 to $120 a month, the media conglomerate said. “It is hard to imagine copyright infringement that is any more willful than what Midjourney is doing here,” the plaintiff added. “Midjourney has prioritized and sought to preserve the hundreds of millions of dollars it earns annually from its service by doubling down on its theft of copyrighted works.”

In the complaint, the company gave several examples of Midjourney-generated images and video stills next to images and screencaps of its movies and shows. The image above, for instance, shows Midjourney’s output from the prompt “Batman, screencap from The Dark Knight.” next to actual promotional materials from the Christian Bale-led movie. Further, generic prompts like “classic comic book superhero battle” could lead to output with WB characters even if they’re not specifically mentioned.

Midjourney is already facing a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by Disney and Universal Studios back in June. They accused the AI service of “help[ing] itself to countless” copyrighted works to train its models and for infringing on their copyright by allowing users to generate images of characters from Star Wars, Shrek, The Simpsons and Despicable Me, among other properties.

Warner Bros. Discovery is now asking the court for statutory damages of “up to $150,000 per infringed work by virtue of Midjourney’s willful infringement.” We’ve reached out to Midjourney and will update this post when we hear back.

  • Sabrina Carpenter And Jake Gyllenhaal Team Up For Bloody Scooby-Doo Reboot In Saturday Night Live Season 49 Finale Skit

Sabrina Carpenter And Jake Gyllenhaal Team Up For Bloody Scooby-Doo Reboot In Saturday Night Live Season 49 Finale Skit

    [ad_1]

Sabrina Carpenter has been working late because she’s the singer at SLN season 49 finale. And Jake Gyllenhaal is the host closing the longest-running American sketch comedy live show before it breaks for the summer.

The 49th season of Saturday Night Live (SNL), highlighted by an unexpected and gory Scooby-Doo twist, ended with actor Jake Gyllenhaal as a guest host and a performance by Sabrina Carpenter. Despite fans’ tempered expectations given that the much anticipated 50th anniversary season is upon us, SNL was still able to have some standout moments.

Jake Gyllenhaal and Sabrina Carpenter’s Scooby-Doo skit takes a dark turn

One of the best sketches of the finale reimagined Scooby-Doo in a darker than usual way. Along with her breathtaking Espresso performance, Sabrina is also seen in this SNL skit titled Scooby Doo and the Mystery of the Shadow Phantom. The official description of the dark comedy skit states, “Things go off the rails as Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo (Jake Gyllenhaal, Sabrina Carpenter, Sarah Sherman, Mikey Day, Andrew Dismukes) attempt to solve a mystery.”

Jake Gyllenhaal embodied Fred while Sabrina Carpenter slayed as Daphne. Sarah Sherman played the role of Velma alongside Mikey Day’s Shaggy and Andrew Dismukes. The sketch followed the Scooby-Doo gang as they investigated a mystery in a haunted house. Upon catching the mystery man, Fred accidentally rips off his face and chaos ensues. Carpenter’s Daphne hilariously suggests they should “put the face in a bowl of dry rice.” This routine light-heartedness soon turned violent when Fred (Gyllenhaal) pulled out a gun. The situation kept escalating until all that could end it was just Scooby adding another surprising yet funny spin on this well-known plot. Watch here:

There will be a three-hour long primetime special on the very day.

American Television staple SNL will hold this landmark event in recognition of its own impact and legacy throughout these years. Last year SNL creator Lorne Michaels confirmed his participation in forthcoming festivities; “We’re doing the 50th anniversary show in February of ’25 so I will definitely be there for that, and definitely be there until that,” he hinted at extensive preparations for the event while speaking with Entertainment Tonight.

  • Scooby-Doo! Is Getting a Live-Action Netflix Series

    Scooby-Doo! Is Getting a Live-Action Netflix Series

    [ad_1]

    Scooby-Doo (2002)
    Image: Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. has its own streaming service, sure, but Scooby-Doo! The Live-Action Series will be driving its psychedelic Mystery Machine straight to Netflix. It’ll be produced by Greg Berlanti, whose other Netflix projects include a pair of other spooky shows: Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and the current Dead Boy Detectives.

This news comes from Deadline, which doesn’t add many details beyond it’s a “reimagining” and landed at the streamer after “a competitive situation;” it’ll be written by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, who likewise have a credit that dovetails here: the anime-turned-live-action Netflix series Cowboy Bebop. They’re also both executive producers on current series Citadel at Prime Video, and From at MGM+.

If Greg Berlanti’s name sounds familiar, he’s also the guy who was behind the CW’s Arrowverse for many years, as well as the delightfully bonkers Riverdale.

The Scooby-Doo gang has been around since 1969; their most high-profile foray into live-action was the 2002 feature film and its sequel, and there have been numerous animated reboots since its original run. Max, which you would think would be the home of any Scooby-Doo project, is where Mindy Kaling’s animated spin-off Velma just premiered its second season.

And jinkies, yes! Your Scooby-Doo dream cast speculation is welcomed in the comments.

  • Freddie Prinze Jr. Reveals What Led To His Frustration When Asked To Take A Pay Cut For ‘Scooby-Doo 2’

Freddie Prinze Jr. Reveals What Led To His Frustration When Asked To Take A Pay Cut For ‘Scooby-Doo 2’

    [ad_1]

    By Melissa Romualdi.

Back when Freddie Prinze Jr. starred in the “Scooby-Doo” films, there was a period of time when the beloved franchise left the actor feeling “so angry.”

In a recent interview with Esquire, Prinze Jr.- who starred as the Mystery Inc. gang member Fred Jones in the 2002 Warner Bros. film “Scooby-Doo” and 2004’s “Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed”- revealed he was asked to take a pay cut despite the cast wanting a raise for the sequel, which included his wife, Sarah Michelle Gellar, who starred as Daphne.

“I remember thinking, ‘Hold up, who’s giving them the raise? Me or y’all?’ Like we made you guys three-quarters of a billion dollars, you can’t afford to pay them what I’m making on this? Screw that,” the actor told the magazine.

He also addressed allegations that the studio had, at the time, publicized his salary in a magazine.

“My ego was so angry,” he said.

In the years following the release of the second film, Prinze Jr. began to develop a more “accurate perspective” on the popular projects, based off the famed animated mystery series “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!” that introduced four teenage detectives and their team’s mascot- a talking dog- to the world in 1969.

“All these people that had grown up loving those [“Scooby-Doo”] movies started reaching out…and then I got what I felt was a more accurate perspective on what that movie meant to people,” Prince Jr. explained, noting that it was because he “was no longer viewing it through the lenses of the studio.”

  • Velma Officially Confirmed as Gay in New ‘Scooby-Doo’

Velma Officially Confirmed as Gay in New ‘Scooby-Doo’

    [ad_1]

Velma Dinkley is finally depicted as a lesbian in the upcoming film Trick Or Treat Scooby-Doo!. It’s something that other writers have attempted to show in a more direct way, but for one reason or another, has never panned out. In the case of the James Gunn Scooby-Doo movies from the early 2000s, it came down to studio interference.

Tony Cervone, a supervising producer on Mystery Incorporated, also spoke a little bit about his own attempts at depicting the character as a lesbian (via Variety). While it might not necessarily be incredibly obvious if the viewer isn’t looking for it, the intention behind her characterization was to imply heavily that she was a lesbian. He said:

I’ve said this before, but Velma in ‘Mystery Incorporated’ is not bi. She’s gay. We always planned on Velma acting a little off and out of character when she was dating Shaggy because that relationship was wrong for her and she had unspoken difficulty with the why. There are hints about the why in that episode with the mermaid, and if you follow the entire Marcie arc it seems as clear as we could make it 10 years ago. I don’t think Marcie and Velma had time to act on their feelings during the main timeline, but post reset, they are a couple. You can not like it, but this was our intention.

James Gunn’s Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed were initially meant to feature an explicitly lesbian Velma but through a series of orders from the higher-ups at the studio, we ended up with a Velma who was pretty ambiguous, even having a boyfriend in the sequel.

In Trick Or Treat Scooby-Doo, Velma has a number of interactions with a famous fashion designer by the name of Coco Diablo. Upon first seeing her, Velma’s cheeks turn red, her glasses fog up, and she says her catchphrase, “Jinkies!” In a later scene, Diablo calls her “the cute one” and Velma’s face gets a little twisted up at the compliment.

Trick Or Treat Scooby-Doo! was released digitally on October 4.
