You’ve been embraced as an It girl on TikTok over the past couple of years. How would you describe your everyday approach to beauty and style?
My everyday approach to beauty is enhancing my natural features and finding those little things that make me special. When I watch beauty tutorials on my makeup looks by other people, they often try to just copy what I’m doing, but that’s not always necessarily the best thing to do. I think you should look at my videos, take your pieces from it, and spin it in a way that fits your face. For example, if my contour is sitting up here because I have a higher cheekbone, that doesn’t mean yours needs to be there. I think it’s really all about looking at yourself and figuring out the parts of your face that can be enhanced.
I take a very classic approach when it comes to fashion. One thing I always say since it’s been installed in me since I was younger is to never follow trends. A lot of the time when you follow trends, you’ll look back five years from now and wonder, “What was I thinking?!” I stay true to a really timeless style, which allows me to never look back and question the fashion decisions I’ve made in the past. I really gravitate toward classic suit blazers, nice trousers, a good belt, and having staple jewelry, which is so important to help pull an outfit together. You can have the simplest outfit on, and if you also have fabulous earrings, you look so luxe and chic.
We can never get enough of your “get ready with me” videos, luxury shopping hauls, and photo shoots. What message do you hope to impart to your viewers and followers?
When people look at my content, I want them to feel inspired. About [my recent] luxury haul in particular, I had no idea the effect it would have on people. They instantly went out and treated themselves to amazing products! I love to be an inspiration and push people toward things that they would never ordinarily do for themselves and become what they didn’t think they could be. I also hope I can inspire people with their style and health journeys!
I just posted about the Pressed Juicery juice cleanse that I did, and so many people responded to that saying that they wanted to step their game up and start the year off right. There were so many benefits to that cleanse! It helped with bloating and made my skin so glowy. I also hope that … the workout and fitness routines I post … can also inspire people to feel good inside and out.
How has becoming a mother shifted your self-view?
It has made me more aware of a lot of things than I was before. It’s made me become a lot more healthy because, of course, I want to give my daughter the healthiest options for when she’s eating and when she’s out and about to avoid chemicals. My approach to health and wellness has grown and improved with her in my life, which has been really interesting and fun. I love having a lot of positivity around her, so in my daily life, I try to remain super happy and positive all the time, which I have always done. Now, I think about creating a safe space and energy for her. It’s been the best journey ever! She’s the sweetest, cutest little girl, and I just can’t wait to be her mom for the rest of her life.
What are some things you’re looking forward to in 2024? Are there any projects you can share with us?
My day-to-day consists of my activewear brand, so I’m really excited for the future of that and have a lot of exciting things coming. We’re still a really small team, so it’s fun! I’m wearing a lot of hats, so it’s nice to see everything coming to life, and all of the aspirations and dreams I had for the brand are really starting to form.

You may remember her signature “glazed donut skin” or “strawberry makeup” looks, but Hailey has now introduced us to “Sugar Plum Fairy” makeup, inspired by her role in The Nutcracker as a teen ballerina.
This feminine, ethereal makeup look instantly went viral on TikTok, and features plenty of pink blush and shimmery eyeshadow and lip gloss, along with a natural-looking base and a light coat of mascara.
Get the Look:
Tap into your girly side with Sugar Plum Fairy makeup — it’s especially perfect for this time of year since the ample amount of pink blush is reminiscent of Cold Girl Makeup, giving it a wintry vibe.

While she doesn’t show the exact products that she uses (other than her now sold-out Rhode Peptide Lip Tint in “Jelly Bean”), you can get the look with any shimmery pink eyeshadow, like this shimmering foil eyeshadow in ballet pink from Lawless, a clean makeup brand. It will melt into your lids to create a high-shine effect and add dimension.
You’ll want your lips to sparkle too, so go for a lipgloss that has shimmer in it, like Makeup by Mario’s Pro Volume Lip Gloss, which has a multi-dimensional shine to it.

We wear monochromatic outfits, so why not try monochromatic makeup?
You’ll be seeing a lot of this in 2024, which is good news for makeup minimalists.

Of course, you could pluck or wax your bows to achieve the ultra-skinny brow look, but TBH, I wouldn’t recommend it.
Eyebrows are notorious for *not* growing back, so I’d avoid taking that risk — especially if, down the line, you’ll want fuller-looking brows again.
You can try out the skinny eyebrow trend temporarily by using some full-coverage concealer instead of hair removal, which could yield permanent results.
By applying a matte, full-coverage concealer (the NYX one above is also waterproof!) along your brows, you can conceal them to your desired thinness and get this look minus the long-term commitment.
6. Graphic Eyeliner
The future is now with bold, futuristic-looking graphic eyeliner looks hitting the beauty scene in 2024.

Gen Z Says: For Gen Z, '90s Beauty Trends Still Reign Supreme—Here's Why

Thomas also pieces together a timeline of ’90s makeup trends for me. Over the course of the decade, makeup underwent a transformation from skewing more grunge with dark eyes, matte complexions, and minimal contour to the shift towards pop culture-inspired looks of the late ’90s and, “glitter, brighter colors, glossy lips.” Older Gen Zers may even remember their Y2K childhood years as being defined by trends that were everywhere just a couple years prior to their earliest memories being intact. And then there was the impact of the internet (even if it was dial-up and had us caught in chat rooms), making beauty all the more accessible at the click of a mouse.
According to Tisha Thompson, celebrity makeup artist and founder of LYS Beauty, one reason why the ’90s is an easy era to recreate with present-day products is due to shade diversity becoming more mainstream. Flashback was everywhere and individuals with deep skin tones fell victim to the limited shade ranges of products. The decade’s most recognizable makeup looks have been made better with steps towards inclusion. “When thinking back to old runway shows or red carpets, the 90s perfectly married natural beauty with glam, and I love seeing modern renditions of that makeup style,” she says.
I gained a better idea of how hair changed throughout the ’90s by tapping celebrity hairstylist Adam Maclay who shared a timeline not so unlike that of the makeup trends of the decade. The era began with the beauty trends from the 80s still spilling over—think flattops, perms, and big hair. By the mid-90s, the eye-catching shapes and styles that were once thought to be inaccessible by the general public became achievable through the popularization of perms, blow outs, experimentation with hair color, and more. “Music videos were at their peak in production costs and exposure. Whatever look artists were wearing became popular very quickly, explains Maclay. We also started to see celebrity fashion covers and brand sponsorships.” The decade reached its end with flat ironed hair, half updos with butterfly clips, and braids reigning supreme.

We caught up with beauty expert, makeup artist, and and entrepreneur Jenny Patinkin to get the scoop on the best makeup practices for individuals with gamine facial features. “Gamine facial features tend to be delicate, so overdoing contouring can give an almost sunken or hollow look,” says Patinkin. “If I do any contouring at all, it’s only a subtle wash done at the part of the cheekbone closest to the ears and not extended onto the face more than one to two inches and perhaps a little on the jawline to call attention to the V shape of the jawline.”
Instead, Patinkin prefers to focus on bringing a soft glow to the cheeks and a slightly contoured smoky eye to create a round, doe-eyed look with a sultry flair. “It’s important to use makeup brushes sized for more delicate features instead of very large ones that can over-apply products like bronzer or contour,” she tells us. Soap Brows Aren’t Going Anywhere—Insider Tricks to Achieving the Laminated Look

If you’re ready to finally give soap brows a try, follow these steps below that Mellinger swears by to help achieve them. All you’ll need is a clear, glycerin-based soap, wax, or gel and an easy-to-use spoolie to whip your brows into shape in minutes—no brow-lamination appointment required. The trick is to pay special attention to coating all hairs, making sure none go without a layer of soap paste for a smooth finish.
Step 1. If you’re creating them using soap rather than a wax or gel, opt for a clear, glycerin-based soap. This will ensure there is no color or white cast transferred to the brow.
Step 2. Avoid getting the spoolie too wet. “You don’t want to make the paste too slippery or sudsy, or it won’t stay in place,” explains Mellinger.
Step 3. Don’t dig into the soap too much with your spoolie, as it will make the paste too thick. A paste that is too thick and dry won’t stick well.
Step 4. After you’ve achieved your ideal shape, try carefully smoothing it out with your finger for an extra-laminated look.

We reached out to celebrity makeup artist Rachel Goodwin, who has been the creative mind behind makeup looks for everyone from Emma Stone and Lana Condor to Rose Byrne and Selma Blair.
For Goodwin, choosing which eye shadow palettes to work with isn’t a complicated process, as it’s all based on the overall look she would like to achieve. “I choose based on the look I am trying to create. If I am doing editorial, I break out the color palettes. Day looks or press days with clients, I typically stick with neutrals and soft browns,” she continues. Eye shadow palettes come in all shapes and sizes, each one possessing a unique formula that can either make or break your makeup look. The key is to hone in on your specific needs and desired finished look.
“I normally separate my eye shadow palettes by color. Neutrals in one and bright colors in another,” explains Goodwin. “I prefer to have mixed textures in each palette, meaning a blend of shimmers, mattes, and satins, organized by hue.” It could also be incredibly helpful to pay attention to the longevity of the eye shadow shades, potential product fallout (what happens when shadow migrates from the lid to the under-eye area), and the ability to build and blend pigments. Skin types also come into play, especially if you happen to have oily skin that can limit the wear time of certain formulas.

I used to be strictly on the powder blush train for the longest time. It wasn’t because I hated cream blushes; mostly, I stuck with the powder versions because I found them easier to apply. All you need was a good brush for a couple of swipes and you’re all set. To me, cream blushes meant more blending, which left a lot more room for human error. And as someone who is pretty low-maintenance when it comes to makeup, I was hesitant.
But all of that changed in the past year as I started covering beauty. I had to try things that were outside of my comfort zone in order to write about these new and new-to-me products. All for the sake of good journalism, right? So I was introduced to a couple of cream blushes and now I reach for them a lot more than my powder blush. They just give that dewy, glowy look that pretty everyone is aspiring to these days.
And as for the application difficulty level, I would say I definitely thought it would be harder than it really is. Just a light touch really goes a long way and you can build up the color if you want. When I’m on the hunt for a cream blush, I keep an eye open for products offering major color payoff and longevity. As with all makeup products, finding one formulated with skincare benefits can make a difference in my finished makeup look and the overall health of my skin.

Equipped with their social media savviness, market influence, and access to industry-wide knowledge that generations past could only dream of, Gen Z users of the social media platform have undoubtedly led the charge toward a new era of unbridled aestheticism rivaling major artistic movements of the past, including the highly influential aesthetic movement that took place in Great Britain from 1860 to 1900. A study of modern-day aesthetics in beauty and that of art reveals similar patterns and behaviors among their audiences. That’s the power of trends: They may not always withstand the test of time, but their influence lives on in the best ways.
If we’re taking a look at the influence of niche aesthetics on today’s beauty trends, identifying similarities between aesthetic movements reveals so much more than what lingers on the surface. According to London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, the original aesthetic movement focused “instead on producing art that was beautiful rather than having a deeper meaning—art for art’s sake.” As an escape from ugliness and materialism, could we be going through a second social media–driven aesthetic movement? I Tried Tons of Brown Eyeliners to Bring You the Very Best 10

Much like black, brown eyeliner can be applied in a number of different ways. I personally love using a brown pencil or crayon for tight-lining my eyes. Plus, the overall effect will be more subtle.
