Dua Lipa Was Spotted Supporting Her New BF At His Show Premiere

    [ad_1]

As one of the most successful pop stars in the world, fans have always been interested in Dua Lipa‘s boyfriend and who she’s dated. Lipa, who is from London, entered the music scene in August 2015 with her debut single, “New Love.” She went on to release songs like “Be the One” and “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)” before her first number-one single in the United Kingdom, “New Rules,” in July 2017.

After that, Lipa’s career continued to rise with hits like “IDGAF” and “One Kiss” with Calvin Harris.” In March 2020, Lipa released her sophomore album, Future Nostalgia, which featured chart-topping tracks like “Don’t Start Now,” “Physical” and “Break My Heart.” Lipa, who won the Grammy for Best New Artist in 2019, was also nominated in the Album of the Year category for Future Nostalgia at the 2021 Grammys.

With so much done in so little time, it’s hard to believe that Lipa found love amid all of her success. In an interview with Elle UK in 2018, Lipa opened up about why she’s always been a romantic. “I’m such a firm believer in love. I blame my parents for that because they have a really good relationship and I think they’ve set my standards high,” she said at the time. “Life is too not short not to say ‘I love you.’ As much as I tell myself not to rush into things or be careful to say ‘I love you’ too fast without really knowing if there’s any substance in the relationship, I think it’s really important to go with your gut.”

Still, though she’s always been a romantic, Lipa doesn’t look down on the times she’s been single.  “When I’m single, I end up having so much more time to do a lot of other stuff,” she said. “I think you learn so much more about yourself when you’re completely alone and you have no one to go to for help for certain things. You learn to rely on yourself in a different way.”

So who is Dua Lipa‘s boyfriend and who has she dated in the past? Ahead is a look at Lipa’s dating history, from a Hadid brother to her first public relationship.

    Callum Turner (2024 – present)

Page Six reported that Dua Lipa is dating The Boys and The Boat actor Callum Turner. “It’s new, but but they’re mad about each other,” a source told the site. Though she had no connection to Apple TV’s Masters of The Air which also stars Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan. “She was at the premiere to support him,” the source continued.

    Romain Gavras (2023)

According to The Sun, Dua was spending some time with French filmmaker Romain Gavras. “Dua and Romain have been quietly getting to know each other for several months,” a source for the outlet said in a Feb. 25 report, before adding, “They have been enjoying spending time together.” The source continued, “Dua knows how important it is to find someone who understands her industry. She feels Romain totally gets it. They’re both really creative people.”

Romain dated fellow British singer Rita Ora in 2021. His reps confirmed to DailyMail, “Rita and Romain split up months ago because of difficulties with their respective work commitments. They remain close friends.” A source close to Rita added: “Rita and Romain tried to make it work but they both agreed it wasn’t meant to be. ‘They remain close but it was simply impossible to maintain a relationship where they barely saw each other.

    Jack Harlow (2022)

News broke of Dua and Jack’s relationship in December 2022 when Page Six reported that the two were dating after Dua’s breakup with Trevor Noah. The relationship came seven months after the release of Jack’s song, “Dua Lipa,” from his second album, Come Home the Kids Miss You, in May 2022. In the song, Jack raps that he’s “tryna do more with” Dua “than do a feature.” Jack confirmed in an interview on “The Breakfast Club” radio show at the time that he reached out to Dua and played her the song over FaceTime before he released it. “I wanted to get her blessing, so I FaceTimed her and played it for her because I didn’t want her to be blindsided by that or feel like creeped out or anything.” Jack said. “If she had said, ‘Yo, I hate it. I don’t want it to come out,’ it wouldn’t have come out.”

He continued, “Oh, I mean it’s not my song. I suppose it’s OK.’ She was just kinda thrown off and she just kinda let it go.” Jack added that he and Dua had since spoken since the call and their relationship was “less awkward.”

Dua and Jack met for the first time in person at the Variety Hitmakers Brunch in Los Angeles in December 2022. A source told Page Six in December 2022 that the two had been in “constant communication” since then. “He was very interested in her, and was going to strongly pursue [the romance],” the insider said. The site also reported that Jack flew to New York City to meet up with Dua after her Z100 Jingle Ball the Friday before their relationship went public. The two were also seen arriving separately at a restaurant in New York City’s Meatpacking District for lunch the next day. “He is going to do his best, as he has always been a fan of her,” a source told Page Six.

    Trevor Noah (2022)

Dua and Trevor, the former host of The Daily Show, were first linked in September 2022 after The Daily Mail published photos of them on a date at Miss Lily’s in New York City. The pictures came after Noah’s breakup with actress Minka Kelly in May 2022. “They were quietly sat away from everyone else at the restaurant. It was clear they were into each other and sat close together throughout the meal. They left together and walked, stopping for long embraces and on the second kiss with hugs,” a source told The Daily Mail.

Dua seemed to respond to the rumors in an interview on the “Dua Lipa: At Your Service” podcast in October 2022, where she confirmed she was single.“For me, this is the first year I’ve not been in a relationship for a very long time,” she said. “It’s been really great to just be alone and only think about myself and kind of be quite selfish, which I’ve never really had the opportunity to do. But when you find someone that really softens you and calms you down. I think it is the Leo thing—it makes a big difference.” Page Six confirmed in December 2022 that Dua and Trevor’s relationship ended soon after their date at Miss Lily’s. “They haven’t spoken since,” the insider said.

    Anwar Hadid (2019 – 2021)

Dua and Anwar started dating in June 2019 after the “Don’t Start Now” split from her longtime boyfriend, Isaac Carew. According to TMZ, Anwar’s sister, Gigi Hadid, who is friends with Dua, introduced them after Anwar told her that he’s a fan of the “Physical” singer’s music. The site reported July 2019 that Anwar asked Dua on a date after her breakup in June. After the date went well, Anwar invited Dua to his 20th birthday later that month and spent several days with him in Los Angeles before flying back to London, where she lived at the time.

The two were first photographed together at the British Summer Time Hyde Park music festival in London in July 2019, where they were seen kissing. According to TMZ, Dua and Anwar bonded over their love of music when they first started dating. (Anwar released his EP Bleach in 2020.)

In an interview with British Vogue in February 2021, Dua opened up about her relationship with Anwar and why the couple is “quite private” in real life despite their public affair on social media. “We have all these incredible memories and experiences, and if there’s something that we want to share together, then OK that’s fun,” she said. “But at the same time, we’re quite private — we’ll only show you as much as we want you to see.”

She continued, “It’s a little bit of give and take, trying to find the right balance of being so excited and being in love, and wanting to share that with the people around me, but at the same time not wanting to put too much out there. I want to be able to just be happy in this relationship without having other people’s opinions.”

In November 2021, The Sun reported that Dua and Anwar, who were known to “break up/get back together/break up/get back together,” were in “crisis.” “The couple floated the idea about putting the brakes on their romance last month as traveling so much and being apart is proving tough,” a source told The Sun at the time. “Their relationship is going through a crisis and appears to be on the rocks.”

People confirmed Dua and Anwar’s breakup a month later in December 2021. “Dua and Anwar are currently taking a break from their relationship and are spending time apart,” the insider said. “They’re figuring things out right now.”

    Isaac Carew (2013 – 2019)

    Isaac Carew, Dua Lipa

Dua and Isaac, a model and a chef, dated on and off from 2013 to 2019. The two first split in early 2017, which is when Dua went on to date LANY lead singer Paul Klein. However, January 2018, Dua had broken up with Paul and reunited with Isaac. The two dated for another year before ending their relationship in June 2019. “Dua and Isaac have really struggled to see each other since getting back together,” a source told The Sun at the time. “They wanted to make things work and things were great between them for a while but she is just getting busier and busier.”

The insider continued, “She is gearing up to release new music and has basically been performing across the world non-stop for the past three years so it’s been tough. It’s been a difficult decision but ultimately they haven’t been able to make things work.”

Their breakup came after rumors that Isaac had cheated on Dua after he was seen with another woman at London’s G-A-Y nightclub in 2018, according to The Sun. The cheating rumors were never confirmed, however, fans believe that Dua and Isaac weren’t together at the time of the nightclub sighting.

    Paul Klein (2017 – 2018)

In between her breakups from Isaac, Dua dated LANY lead singer, Paul Klein. According to The Sun, the two met at the British Summertime Festival in Hyde Park in July 2017 and even spent Christmas together in London in December. However, by January 2018, The Sun reported that Dua had broken up with Paul to reunite with her ex, Isaac. “Dua and Paul had a really good time together but things just didn’t work out,” a source said at the time. “She is very positive about the situation though, and has been pouring her emotions into her new album, which she has been writing in Jamaica and Los Angeles.

The insider continued, “The break-up has brought back memories of Isaac, who she split with this time last year. She has been messaging him again but she has been out of the country for the last few weeks so they haven’t seen each other.”

In 2018, LANY released their album, Malibu Nights, which many believe to be about Paul’s relationship with Dua. In an interview with SCMP in 2020, Dua revealed that she hasn’t listened to her ex-boyfriend’s songs. “I haven’t really heard it,” she said.

  • We Are Entering Barbie’s World

    We Are Entering Barbie’s World

    [ad_1]

Our beloved childhood friend and icon – Barbie – is coming to life. The first teaser trailer of Greta Gerwig’s Barbie was released today…and I already feel a surge of tremendous excitement

    .

Expect a star-studded cast featuring Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, and Will Ferrell. From there, it’s all up to Greta – the groundbreaking director who gave us stellar films like Ladybird and Little Women.

This romantic comedy has been years in the making. It was originally reported that a Barbie movie was in the works way back in 2009. Then a decade later, we heard that the lovely Margot Robbie would play Barbie…and it wasn’t revealed until 2022 that Ryan Gosling was playing Ken and who the rest of the cast would be. Thankfully, the movie will finally premiere on July 21, 2023 to Barbie lovers and cinema fans the world over.

The teaser reveals a cluster of little girls – wearing old-fashioned pinafores and drab frocks. They’re having a tea party with their baby dolls in the hills and valleys of a vast orange desert. Richard Strauss’ Thus Sprach Zarathustra provides an ominous soundscape. It is one truly creepy mise-en-scène and a clear reference to 2001: Space Odyssey.

Then the monolithic Barbie is revealed. She stands 20-feet tall, towering above the kids and winking cheekily. And the girls go insane – they smash their babydolls’ skulls in, slam themagainst an outcropping of rocks, destroying their once-cherished dollies. And then we flip to the magical, mesmerizing world of Barbie. Thus demonstrating that Gerwig will take this film far beyond our expectations.

Rumors of Dua Lipa’s involvement in the film have started to swirl…after reports that the singer would be in the film months ago, it appears the official Barbie movie Instagram account has followed her in the recent hours. A new beau in Jack Harlow and a film debut? It really is Dua’s world.

This movie’s already inspired the hot pink Barbie-core trend and it’s not even out yet…the cultural impact is about to shift our cosmos. Brace yourselves, it’s about to become Barbie’s world.

The Best Celebrity Memes of 2022

    [ad_1]

    By JC Villamere.

From big events like the Super Bowl and the Oscars to big stars from Nicole Kidman to Jack Harlow, there were plenty of moments worthy of the meme treatment this year. Here, we look back at some of our faves.

Back on Feb. 13 at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem, 50 Cent treated the crowd to his 2003 hit “In Da Club” and recreated the video’s opening by hanging upside down. Cue the kick-off for many a meme:

The hip-hop mogul also got in on the game with a few memes of his own:

In a now-deleted Instagram post from November, Vin Diesel called for WNBA athlete Brittney Griner’s release from Russian prison, writing “I need Brittney Griner home before Christmas,” alongside a photo of himself at a basketball match. Following Griner’s release in a prisoner exchange for arms dealer on Dec. 8, social media users jokingly thanked the actor for his part.

Some users believed the actor singlehandedly infiltrated the Russian prison by himself.

A meta meme was born when Spider-Man stars Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire suited up to recreate the Spider-Man pointing meme.

Spider-Man was hot meme fodder beyond the triple-point pose, too:

    The Acade-meme Awards

The Oscars is a perennial feast of memes, and this year was no different. While reliable meme star Nicole Kidman pulled her weight, there was obviously a new source of inspiration for meme-makers at the 2022 ceremony.

This reaction shot was initially thought to be in response to The Slap, but it was later revealed that it was shot before the show got underway. It makes you wonder what her slap reaction looked like.

Cameras caught a catty chat between Caitlyn Jenner and Lady Gaga outside the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 30th annual Academy Awards Viewing Party.

Jenner: “Are you spending time around Malibu anymore?”
    Gaga: “Yes.”
Jenner: “I haven’t seen you at the Starbucks in a while.”
    Gaga: “I’ve switched baristas.”
    Gaga abruptly exits stage right.

Prestige Memes Courtesy of the Royals

Let’s start off with the smallest and cutest of them all.

The four-year-old appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony with his fam, but he was not a fan of the sound of the Royal Air Force fly-over.

Elsewhere, royal watchers were identifying with Prince Harry’s priorities.

And folks were feeling King Charles III’s anxiety level as he prepared to ascend to the throne:

And now, let’s move on from royalty to The King.

This sweaty shot of “Elvis” star Austin Butler as the icon in the ’70s was too hot not to meme:

After the nearly-finished, $90-million “Batgirl” movie was suddenly cancelled, fans used the meme medium and the hashtag #HBOMaxJustCanceled to theorize what else might be on the chopping block:

Martha Stewart, 81, maintains that Davidson is like a son to her, but that didn’t stop creators from speculating about her relationship with the BDE originator.

The star received a  muted reception for his performance at ‘College GameDay’, and meme-makers had a field day.

His chat with the ESPN panel didn’t do him any favours:

Meanwhile, on the basketball court, NBA refs had questions about — and for — the star:

    Harlow offered a mythically-minded response:

A negroni sbagliato with prosecco in it = stunning! This interview clip discussing drink choices was seized on by fans:

@hbomaxI’ll take one of each. #houseofthedragon♬ a negroni sbagliato w prosecco l hbo max – hbomax

On the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Julia Fox was asked if she was then-boyfriend Kanye “Ye” West’s muse.

She replied, “Yeah. A little. I mean, I was Josh Safdie’s muse when he wrote ‘Uncut Gems’, you know?” But her elaborate pronunciation of “Uncut Gems” was catnip to TikTok users, who garnered millions of views with their imitations of “Unka Jhaaaams.”

Over on Reddit, the most popular celebrity memes of the year featured the beloved Dwayne Johnson:

It’s bad enough to be caught up in an Instagram cheating scandal. It’s even worse when the world makes fun of your (lack of) DM game.

Here’s hoping that 2023 brings an equally mind-blowing meme harvest. That’s our one Christmas wish. It’s the toast we’ll be making on New Year’s Eve. It’s our biggest hope for the holidays. Feel free to meme it.

  • 2023 Grammy Nominations: Snubs and Surprises

2023 Grammy Nominations: Snubs and Surprises

    [ad_1]

It is with an apprehensive and tired sigh that I announce: the 2023 Grammy nominations are out.

The Grammy Awards are music’s most exhilarating and disheartening night of the year. Year after year, we’re all forced to sit through hours of pomp and ceremony. At the end of it, stars are disappointed by losses and audiences are disappointed by the boring spectacle the show has become.

There was a time when The Grammys felt relevant and important. I believe that era ended in 2013 when Macklemore beat out Kendrick Lamar for Best Rap Album. Now, we’re questioning how much authority the Grammy Awards actually hold. Major stars like Drake, The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, and more have stopped submitting their tracks for consideration. And even more musicians have spoken out about being unfairly categorized or snubbed.

This is especially true of Black Artists. While Jay Z and Beyonce now hold the record for most Grammy nominations of all time, their list of wins deserves to be higher. Sure, their trophy cabinet is already heavy with awards. Let’s not forget that their daughter, Blue Ivy, has a Grammy of her own — but the annual event often comes with major snubs. For example, Beyonce’s never won Album of the Year. Despite the fact that Lemonade exists … much to think about.

In fact, only 11 Black artists have ever won Album of the Year. Since 2000, there have been only four Black winners: Outkast in 2004 for Speakerboxxx/The Love Below; Ray Charles, posthumously in 2005; Herbie Hancock in 2008 for a Joni Michael cover album; and, most recently, Jon Batiste in 2022.

On Tue, November 15th the 2023 nominations were announced. Once again, they’ve prompted equal parts celebration and confusion. It’s a fool’s errand to try to guess what the Grammy voters are thinking. And this year is no exception. The disappointment starts early.

Read the full list of nominations here.

But here are the biggest snubs and surprises of the season:

Snub: Taylor Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version)

Yesterday, Taylor Swift fans were fighting a war with Ticketmaster, virtually fighting and clawing for tickets to her upcoming The Eras Tour. And it’s a good thing they were distracted because Taylor’s Red (Taylor’s Version) was notably missing from nominations for the Album of the Year.

Swift is one of four artists to win Album of the Year three times — along with Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, and Frank Sinatra — but since she was shut out of album categories this season, this year will not be one of them. While the original recording of Red was nominated for AOY, the latest version was not. The 30-song tracklist consists of new songs — some of which were given nods like song of the year for “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)” and best country song for “I Bet You Think About Me. But even if Red (Taylor’s Version) wasn’t considered Album-of-the-Year-worthy, it deserves a shot at Best Country Album.

Her most recent offering, Midnights, doesn’t qualify for this year’s Grammys, but we better see it in 2024. Next target on Taylor’s next revenge album: The Grammy voters.

    Surprise: Jack Harlow

It seems the Grammys have fallen victim to the Jack Harlow trap, an affliction that usually befalls college girls in their Nike Air Force Ones. Harlow recieved a nomination for his sophomore album Come Home the Kids Miss You for Best Rap Album. And his single “First Class” — which samples Fergie’s “Glamorous,” went TikTok viral landed a nom for Best Melodic Rap Performance. Honestly, this is simply humiliating. It only proves that the Grammys still know nothing about rap music. And they’re starting to prioritize streaming, charts, and — heaven help us — TikTok in their considerations.

    Surprise: Gayle

Another TikTok surprise was Gayle’s nod for “abcdfu” — nominated for Song of the Year. If the TikTok star’s already wondering how to follow up that viral hit, the bar has been raised. So, I bet you a buck, we’ll be seeing a lot of TikTok songs among future Grammy Award noms. Choose your TikTok sounds wisely.

    Snub: Megan Thee Stallion

Megan is not just one of our favorite rappers, she’s one of the best. Indisputably. The only people who don’t understand that are Academy voting members. They awarded Megan Best New Artist in 2021 … but since then they haven’t found her albums worthy of nomination. Her striking debut only received one nomination in 2022. And despite the acclaim for her sophomore album, Megan was ignored this year. Traumazine was poignant and electric, and deserves better.

    Snub: The R&B girlies

Other neglected Black female artists include Summer Walker and Tems. Summer Walker is now on her second album, but it seems the Grammys haven’t heard. They’ve never even whispered her name, despite her established place as an R&B mainstay.

Tems is one of the most fantastic artists to emerge over the past few years. We all expected her to earn a Best New Artist nom at the very least. She wrote Rihanna’s smash-hit for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. And worked with artists like Drake, Future, and Beyonce on chart-topping tracks. So what does it take?

Snub: Charli XCX and Florence and the Machine

Other industry mainstays include Charli XCX and Florence and the Machine, and Mitski. All are veterans of the indie/alternative scenes, and all released career-defining projects this year.

Charli is one of the hottest names in the industry, not just as a performer but also as a writer. Yet, the Grammys love to ignore her — despite her “considerable impact on the music landscape” and her own genre-bending, soaring work. She was nominated for Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” in 2016 but since then, silence.

Florence is an indie darling, and her most recent album is a stunner — which is saying a lot. Yet, this indie-alt triumph got scarcely any love from the Grammys. Astounding.

Snub: Where are the Indie girls at?

A number of our favorite indie/alt albums of the year were nowhere to be found in the nominations list. Artists like Maggie Rogers and Lizzie McAlpine dominated the indie scene but when it came to the nominations? Crickets.

Another major snub? Mitskian — an indie-alt favorite foreverrr. But after touring with Harry Styles, she certainly “achieved a ‘breakthrough’ into public consciousness and impacted the musical landscape” this year reaching a thrilling new fanbase. So she should be a shoo-in for the Best New Artist category. Justice for Mitski.
