TGR Philippine Cup heads to Batangas Racing Circuit for Race Weekend 3

The 2026 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippine Cup will hold its third race weekend at Batangas Racing Circuit in Rosario, Batangas, on August 15, 2026, marking the series’ first visit to the country’s oldest permanent car racetrack.

The event will feature the Super Sporting, Sporting, and Legacy classes competing in Vios one-make racecars, while the Tamaraw class will continue with its dedicated Tamaraw OMR. Admission is free, and the races will also be livestreamed through TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippines’ Facebook page.

A new challenge for drivers

Batangas Racing Circuit presents a different technical challenge for drivers accustomed to the previous venues on the calendar. Toyota Motor Philippines says the circuit should place greater emphasis on driver skill as racers adapt to a new track environment.

“As a new track for our Vios OMRs and Tamaraw OMRs, BRC will be an exciting challenge for our drivers,” said Sherwin Chua-Lim, senior vice president for marketing at Toyota Motor Philippines. “Our aim at TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has always been to provide opportunities for racers to push the limits for better and to bring racing closer to different car communities.”

He added that Toyota hopes the new venue will help sustain interest among existing fans while attracting more people to motorsports.

Biofuel testing continues

Race Weekend 3 will also continue Toyota’s use of low-carbon biofuels in competition. The Vios OMRs will run on E20, a fuel blend containing 20% bioethanol, while the Tamaraw OMRs will use B5, which contains 5% coco-biodiesel.

The initiative began during the previous race weekend and forms part of Toyota Motor Philippines’ broader effort to study the performance and feasibility of higher biofuel blends under demanding motorsports conditions.

“We have received positive feedback from the racers on how biodiesel and bioethanol blend fuels perform on extreme conditions, so we are further studying the feasibility of continuing the use of these low-carbon fuels for our succeeding motorsports events,” said Josephine Villanueva, first vice president for corporate affairs at Toyota Motor Philippines.

Villanueva added that the program is intended to contribute to discussions around energy security and the potential wider use of higher biofuel blends, while also supporting the development of biofuel supply chains involving multiple sectors, including agriculture.

Racing as a proving ground

By continuing the E20 and B5 program at Batangas Racing Circuit, Toyota is effectively using the TGR Philippine Cup as a real-world test environment for alternative fuel blends under sustained high-load conditions.

The company has not announced whether E20 and B5 will become permanent fuels for succeeding race weekends, saying it is still studying their feasibility based partly on racer feedback and performance under competition conditions.
