  • ‘ShamWow Guy’ reveals what is motivating him to run for Congress: ‘This woke mess won’t clean itself’

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

EXCLUSIVE: Vince Offer Shlomi, more commonly known to the masses as the “ShamWow Guy,” is running for Congress in Texas as an anti-establishment Republican vowing to “clean the swamp.”

If elected, Shlomi, who is beloved for his high-energy late-night ShamWow and “Slap Chop” commercials, has said he will “destroy wokeism,” quipping on his campaign website, “This woke mess won’t clean itself.”

In a recent ad, Shlomi, 61, knocked 84-year-old incumbent Republican Rep. John Carter’s cognitive ability as “worse than Biden,” saying, “vote for me, a guy who’s not half dead.”

Despite President Donald Trump endorsing Carter for re-election, Shlomi believes he would be a better ally in Congress for the president. He suggested Carter is no longer up for the job, likening his continued presence in the House of Representatives to a form of elder abuse.

“He’s not a fighter,” said Shlomi, adding, “It’s not that he’s old, but his capacity is lacking and Trump doesn’t know that.”

After years in the media world, Shlomi said he decided to break into politics after “seeing the decline of the civilization.”

“I’m seeing people not standing up to things. Not thinking about God … kind of afraid, they’re kind of intimidated, walking on eggshells,” he explained. “I feel that we need to fight a little bit stronger on just the commonsense American value ideas.”

“I want to bring wholesomeness back to America,” he said.

He also framed his candidacy as standing up to the GOP establishment, something he believes has already put a target on his back.

He believes that “someone” in the GOP deleted his nickname from the ballot to reduce his name recognition. Candidates using nicknames on the ballot is very common but nicknames tied to brand names or products are rarer.

“I think they’re trying to hoodwink the voters from not knowing who I am,” said Shlomi, adding, “Honestly, it’s a swampy move, and that’s one of the things I’ll be working on when I get to Congress.”

Though describing his election effort as an “uphill battle,” Shlomi said he believes it is part of a “higher purpose.”

“The bottom line is I want to help clean the swamp,” he said. “I’ve just seen the world, I’m looking at athletes, and they’re not standing up for kids, or standing up for girls, and they just go with whatever pays the most money. So, I just thought, you know what? I’m not a brave person, but I just can’t let this happen.”

Regarding Shlomi’s ballot name, Abraham George, chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, told Fox News Digital that “the National Republican Congressional Committee challenged Mr. Shlomi’s ballot nickname – ‘ShamWow’” and “after considering the law, including Texas Election Code section 52.031, the Republican Party of Texas determined that this challenge was well taken and Mr. Shlomi’s ballot nickname was eliminated. Nicknames that indicate an economic affiliation are impermissible by law.”

  • LIZ PEEK: Five unforgettable lessons we all learned in 2025, but some Democrats still didn’t

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Americans — celebrate 2025! The year we found out that Democrats have been wrong about nearly everything and that common-sense Americans were right all along.

    Think that’s an exaggeration? Consider:

Climate alarmism is dead. It turns out we need oil and gas

LET’S TEACH OUR KIDS WHY AMERICA IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR

Kids march against climate change in New York  (Photo by: Lindsey Nicholson/UCG/Universal Images Group via Getty Images)

    • Big Government spending, a staple of the Democratic Party playbook, leads directly to Big Fraud;
    • DEI programs don’t work;
    • More cops bring safer streets;
    • “Gender-affirming care” is dangerous and wrong.

    1. Climate

Perhaps the most consequential change of 2025 was the long-overdue realization that climate alarmism is possibly more dangerous than climate change. When even billoinaire Bill Gates, long-time climate crusader, hangs up his spikes, something profound has shifted. Gates recently wrote a memo admitting climate change “will not lead to humanity’s demise”; the welcome dose of realism from one of the world’s richest human beings comes only a year after he penned a book entitled “How to Avoid a Climate Disaster.”

Look how blue state officials are running pell-mell away from climate mandates that have driven electricity costs higher and infuriated voters.

Exhibit one is New York Democrat Gov. Kathy Hochul, who recently lifted the damaging de facto ban on natural gas pipeline construction imposed by her predecessor former Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

DEFINING FAIR PLAY: WHY SWING-STATE DEMOCRATS ARE OUT OF STEP ON PROTECTING WOMEN’S SPORTS

After clinging to Cuomo’s disastrous climate agenda for years and watching New York’s electricity rates soar to 40% above the national average, Hochul approved key permits for the Williams Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) natural gas pipeline in November, infuriating climate warriors. Hochul said energy needs and grid reliability dictated the change. For a woman who wants to outlaw gas stoves, it was quite an about-face.

Both Gates and Hochul are in step with the corporate community, which has quietly abandoned environmental goals, as the need for power to fuel AI data banks reigns supreme. The reality is that trillions of dollars of investment in renewable fuels has barely reduced demand for oil, gas and coal.

Also, the cost to western nations of suffocating their economies to reduce carbon emissions has become too high, especially since China, India and other developing nations are today’s biggest emitters and abide by no such regulations.  As Gates wrote, the emphasis needs to be on improving lives – both here and around the world – not blindly trying to curb fossil fuels.

HIGH-RANKING DEMOCRATS ADMIT TO KNOWINGLY ABANDONING WOMEN

    2. Big government

Under President Joe Biden, Democrats spent trillions of dollars unnecessarily, boosting our deficits relative to the economy to levels never before seen except during major wars. The gusher of cash not only fed decades-high inflation, it also opened the door to mammoth fraud, with hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars going missing.

More recently, the nation has discovered a still-developing scandal where the Somali community in Minnesota allegedly stole as much as $9 billion in funds meant to feed hungry children and house the homeless.

CONSERVATIVE GROUPS DECLARE 2025 A TIPPING POINT ON ‘CLIMATE HYSTERIA’ AS TRUMP UNLEASHES ENERGY AGENDA

Democrats (and sometimes Republicans) hope to attract voters by doling out money; they know that if citizens become dependent on lavish handouts, they will vote to keep the good times rolling.

But someone has to pay for free stuff; that poor sod is the taxpayer, who eventually rebels. As blue states jack taxes higher to feed their welfare machines, they bleed businesses and residents who flee to lower-tax locales like Florida and Texas. Bottom line, Big Government does not work. Never has, never will.

    3. DEI

Early on, President Donald Trump reversed what he called the “illegal and immoral” DEI programs that Biden had required be implemented in every corner of the Federal Government. Biden’s Executive Order, “Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government” demanded nearly every Federal agency — including air traffic control and the military — submit “Equity Action Plans,” which led to “immense public waste and shameful discrimination.”

Inspired by the president’s pushback against the virtue-signaling programs, corporations, aware that such efforts divide their employees and stoke resentment, quietly let DEI fall by the wayside.

Under President Joe Biden, Democrats spent trillions of dollars unnecessarily, boosting our deficits relative to the economy to levels never before seen except during major wars.

In February, Accenture’s CEO wrote a memo to staff indicating the huge professional services firm was shelving its DEI program since it had “largely achieved its goals” and “we are and always have been a meritocracy.” Dozens of companies, including Pepsico, Disney, Blackrock, McDonalds, Ford, Walmart and others followed suit.

In 2016, Harvard Business School published a report on “Why Diversity Programs Fail”, revealing that decades of mandated diversity efforts had made little progress because, studies showed, “force-feeding can activate bias rather than stamp it out.” That remains the case today.

    4. Cops help

You would think it obvious that putting more cops on the beat brings down crime. But leftists in the U.S. insist, based on ideology rather than common sense or evidence, that law enforcement is the problem and not the cure.

THE FAR LEFT HAVE TAKEN CONTROL OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY PLATFORM, AND IT’S TURNING VOTERS OFF

Trump deployed the National Guard to the streets of D.C., and they became safer. Hochul activated the National Guard to protect New York’s subways, and, not surprisingly, they became less dangerous. This is not rocket science.

    5. “Gender-affirming care”

Allowing young people to permanently change their gender is an atrocity that has blessedly been outlawed in much of Europe and is now restricted in 27 states. Because there remains a group in the U.S. weirdly dedicated to promoting this heinous activity, activists continue to push for its legality. They are suing to overturn the Supreme Court’s ruling in United States v. Skrmetti that a Tennessee law banning gender affirming care did not constitute sex-based discrimination and did not violate the U.S Constitution.

The left is adamant that underage kids, often without the knowledge of their parents, should be able to mutilate their own bodies and permanently destroy their reproductive capabilities. It is hard to imagine a crueler campaign.

Happily, common sense prevailed on these five issues during 2025. Let us hope that 2026 continues the trend, perhaps delivering wisdom on the recklessness of open borders and the disgrace of our public education system and the complicit teachers unions.

Meanwhile, we have much to celebrate!

  • Social media erupts after far-left mayor gives victory speech in foreign language: ‘Humiliating’

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Newly re-elected Minneapolis Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey is facing backlash from conservatives for giving a victory speech in Somali and saying that Minneapolis welcomes Somalians.

In a video of the speech posted online, Frey can be seen leading chants in Somali as the crowd responds and applauds.

Popular conservative influencer Paul Szypula ripped into the progressive mayor, writing, “The pandering here is insane.”

“Mayor Jacob Frey, as he won reelection, spoke almost a minute in Somalia then said Minneapolis belongs to Somalia,” said Szypula.

In a second round of nonpartisan ranked-choice voting, Frey narrowly defeated a challenge from socialist Minneapolis state Sen. Omar Fateh. Fateh is the first Somali American and first Muslim to serve in the state senate.

Fateh had the backing of the Twin Cities’ chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America and “Squad” member Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., who represents Minneapolis in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Meanwhile, Gov. Tim Walz, D-Minn., who was former Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate last year and is up for re-election next year, and Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., endorsed Frey’s campaign this year.

While speaking with a crowd of Somali residents after his victory, Frey repeatedly thanked the crowd in Somali.

“To the great people of Minneapolis, and I say that very intentionally, because no matter where you are from, Minneapolis should be a place where you are proud to call home,” he said.

He then proceeded to list off a number of Somalian regions, saying, “Whether you are from Bosaso or Mogadishu, whether you are from Hargeisa or Garowe, whether you are from Beledweyne or southwest, Minneapolis is a place where you come to seek prosperity, where you come to raise your family.”

“Here is what this election means, this election means this is a moment for unity, where the entire Somali community can come together and say, ‘This is our people, this is our city, we are united behind each other,” he said.

Conservative pundit Gerry Callahan slammed Frey’s speech, saying, “This is an American politician, raised in America, educated in America, ostensibly representing Americans, prostrating himself in front of bunch of foreigners. Could be the most humiliating thing I’ve ever seen.”

Podcaster Matt Walsh also chimed in, writing, “As I have said many times now, politicians in this country should be required by law to speak English when addressing the public in an official capacity. There should never be a time when Americans can’t understand what their elected leaders are saying.”

Nick Sortor wrote, “I don’t know how large ICE’s presence in Minneapolis is, but it needs to be much, MUCH larger.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Frey’s team for comment, but did not immediately receive a response.

This is not the first time Frey has garnered criticism over Somali-language political messaging. He was also widely criticized in September for releasing a campaign ad in Somali.

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, commented on the ad, saying, “This must be stopped.”

Rep. Mike Collins, R-Ga., also reacted to the ad, posting a disapproving gif.

Kari Lake simply wrote, “WTAF?” which is an acronym for “what the actual f—.”

Having entered office in 2018, Frey was elected to his third term as Minneapolis mayor on Tuesday. He is best known for marching with protesters during the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots, which were particularly destructive in Minneapolis, the city in which George Floyd died. Frey was also seen kneeling and weeping by Floyd’s casket at a memorial service.

  • Doctors on key US health task force accused of prioritizing DEI over evidence-based medicine

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

An “independent” advisory panel of non-federal experts determining which preventative healthcare services insurers must cover is accused of being staffed with doctors who have shown a propensity to prioritize “woke” left-wing diversity, equity and inclusion ideals in their work, as opposed to evidence-based science.

The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF), an all-volunteer panel of doctors who serve four-year terms appointed by the Secretary of Health, is made up of experts in preventative medicine, which includes services like screening tests, immunizations, behavioral counseling, and medications that can prevent the development or worsening of health conditions. One of the task force’s primary functions is to weigh the efficacy and cost-benefit of such preventative care services, recommendations for which are then used to shape what preventative care services insurance providers must cover.

The task force’s ability to make these healthcare recommendations, coupled with what appears to be a membership largely made up of left-wing, DEI proponents, has raised concerns about how the task force could be impacting healthcare.

The Wall Street Journal reported in July that sources with knowledge of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s thinking said he was planning to dismiss all 16 members of the USPSTF for being too “woke.”

“HHS has been made aware of the ideological issues with members of the USPSTF raised by letters from Senate Republicans, members of the GOP Doctors Caucus, and a large group of physicians including Associations of American Physicians and Surgeons, America’s Frontline Doctors, and the Pennsylvania Direct Primary Care Association. HHS is troubled by these allegations and is investigating further,” Emily Hilliard, a Health and Human Services Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital when asked about Kennedy’s plans for the future of the current USPSTF.

Meanwhile, others, including the GOP Doctors Caucus and major physician groups including the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, have also raised alarm bells about potential left-wing bias at the USPSTF. One group that has also raised alarm bells about the USPSTF is the conservative watchdog group known as the American Accountability Foundation (AAF), which just released a new report claiming the USPSTF “has been thoroughly hijacked by left-wing partisans for the purpose of weaponizing science to spread leftist ideology.”

The AAF report points to Dr. Michael Silverstein, the task force’s current chairman, who, in 2023, said that USPSTF is “dedicated to … addressing critical issues of health equity” after he was re-appointed to the task force’s leadership team under the Biden administration. As Vice Chair of the task force in 2023, Silverstein co-authored an annual report to Congress highlighting a new partnership with the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association (GLMA) aimed at helping the task force be more “inclusive.”

The partnership, according to the report to Congress, was meant to help develop “new recommendations on screening for anxiety disorders, and other conditions that affect LGBTQ+ communities to enhance the health, wellness, and quality of life of their patients.”

Other recommendations from the USPSTF that have come down in the last several years include a 2022 recommendation denoting the need for physicians to consider race when screening for anxiety in children and adolescents. A more recent recommendation, published in April, said that doctors should pay special attention to breastfeeding in black mothers due to the “lasting psychological impact and stigma of enslaved Black women being forced to act as wet nurses.”

Meanwhile, a 2021 report from the USPSTF, on addressing sex and gender when making preventative healthcare recommendations, included an analysis of how gender-specific terminology, as opposed to “gender-neutral” terminology, could play a role in addressing the needs of “diverse populations.” Think “pregnant people” versus “pregnant mother,” a switch that eventually became part of the task force’s official guidelines.

“To advance its methods, the USPSTF reviewed its past recommendations that included the use of sex and gender terms, reviewed the approaches of other guideline-making bodies, and pilot tested strategies to address sex and gender diversity,” the report states. “Based on the findings, the USPSTF intends to use an inclusive approach to identify issues related to sex and gender at the start of the guideline development process; assess the applicability, variability, and quality of evidence as a function of sex and gender; ensure clarity in the use of language regarding sex and gender; and identify evidence gaps related to sex and gender.”

Another major achievement towards the task force’s mission to advance “health equity” was the release of a 2024 “Health Equity Framework” aimed at embedding gender theory and other left-wing ideologies into its operations.

HOW UNIVERSITY INDOCTRINATION TURNED DEADLY, AND WHY ONE SCHOLAR SAYS IT’S ONLY GETTING WORSE

In addition to the work the task force has done, its members also have an extensive history of publishing research that focuses on “health equity” and other DEI components, such as how race impacts certain health outcomes, or how to address sex and gender when making recommendations for clinical preventative services.

“National Institutes of Health Pathways to Prevention Workshop: Achieving Health Equity in Preventive Services,” is the title of a scientific research report co-authored by task force rank-and-file member, Dr. Sandra Millon Underwood. “Further Incorporating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Into Medical Education Research,” and “Health Equity Starts with Us: Recommendations from the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute Racial Justice and Health Equity Task Force,” were also reports co-authored by members of the USPSTF.

“Antiracist initiatives, such as incorporating community-support persons (e.g., lay doulas) into maternity care for Black people, can reduce disparities in outcomes by addressing both interpersonal racism and the lack of workforce diversity caused by structural racism,” stated a May 2024 research paper co-authored by USPSTF rank-and-file member Dr. Alicia Fernandez.

The U.S. Preventative Services Task Force (USPSTF) has been accused of being infiltrated by “woke” leftists, with sources familiar with Heath Secretary Robert F. Kennedy saying he has plans to fire all 16 of them.  (iStock; Getty Images)

Members of the supposedly “independent” USPSTF have also used their positions of expertise to fight Trump administration priorities as well, such as those around abortion and research funding reforms.

For example, Dr. David Chelmow, another task force member, has appeared in several physician-backed American Civil Liberties Union memos about efforts opposing the Trump administration, including one challenging Trump’s efforts to implement greater protections around the mail-order abortion drug called mifepristone, which many pro-life OBGYN’s have warned is dangerous if not dispensed in-person. In March, Dr. Carlos Roberto Jaen, another task force member, signed a letter alongside 1,900 others accusing the Trump administration of weakening US research capacity and endangering Americans.

WHAT’S REALLY IN YOUR FOOD? NEW CAMPAIGN PUSHES FOR NATIONAL INGREDIENT TRANSPARENCY

When making recommendations for preventative care services, the USPSTF assigns a letter grade, A, B, C, D, or I.

Any service given an “A” or “B” grade, is required to be covered by private insurers under a mandate in the Affordable Care Act (ACA). These grades are also tied to coverage requirements for public insurers, like Medicare and Medicaid.

In 2019, the task force gave the precautionary anti-HIV drug Preexposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) an “A” grade, guidelines for which were later clarified in 2023. The task force’s current Vice Chair, Dr. John Wong, also co-authored a 2017 paper on how scaling-up the use of PrEP can help reduce the prevalence of HIV among gay men. But, according to AAF, the active promotion of PrEP creates an atmosphere of dangerous sexual activity that risks public health dangers due to what the foundation says is promotion of risky sexual behaviors. Additionally, at least one Christian-owned business has argued that forcing insurance providers to cover medication that promotes risky sexual behaviors violates their rights.

Earlier this summer, the Supreme Court weighed in on whether the USPSTF’s authority to compel coverage of preventative healthcare it gives either an “A” or “B” grade was unconstitutional. The group that brought the case, Braidwood Management Inc., initially objected on religious grounds to the ACA requirement that insurance providers cover certain HIV-prevention medications for which the task force has issued an “A” recommendation, specifically PrEP. However, the case ultimately morphed into a question over the legitimacy of USPSTF’s recommendation authority, and whether the circumvention of Senate approval for its members was allowed by the Constitutions Article II clause on advise and consent.

Both the Biden and Trump administrations have taken up the argument that the Health Secretary alone has ultimate control over whether to appoint or fire USPSTF members. The Trump administration also argued in its briefs to the High Court that the Secretary had the authority to block, or rescind, task force recommendations as well, according to SCOUTS Blog.

Ultimately, the Supreme Court voted 6-3, in favor of the federal government’s argument that the appointment process for the USPSTF, and therefore its legitimacy, did not violate the Constitution.

Shortly after the Supreme Court’s decision in the Braidwood case, Health Secretary Kennedy reportedly postponed a long-scheduled task force meeting of the USPSTF, which was the same move he made before firing every member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), the main federal entity that helps craft federal vaccine policy. Kennedy has long been a critic of conventional vaccination policies and practices.

The Wall Street Journal reported in July, not long after the Supreme Court’s decision in the Braidwood case, that sources familiar with Kennedy’s thinking said he was planning to dismiss all 16 members of the USPSTF for being too “woke.”

  • Number of young adults identifying as transgender plunges by nearly half in two years

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

More data is emerging supporting a sharp decline in the number of young adults identifying as transgender or non-binary.

Last week, Fox News Digital reported on data shared by Eric Kaufman, a professor of politics at the University of Buckingham, showing that the share of college students identifying as anything other than male or female has been cut in half in just two years.

Now, Jean Twenge, professor of psychology at San Diego State University, has identified additional data that appears to confirm these findings on a wider scale.

TRANSGENDER ‘TREND’ SHARPLY DECLINING ON AMERICAN COLLEGE CAMPUSES, NEW ANALYSIS FINDS

First, Twenge analyzed data from the nationally representative Household Pulse survey, which asked people directly about identifying as transgender, as she stated in an article for Generation Tech

“The Household Pulse data showed a decline in trans ID among 18- to 22-year-olds in 2024, but I was cautious about drawing conclusions from it, as the decline appeared only in a limited time period (July to September 2024) — and two of the three survey administrations added an option for non-binary identification that wasn’t there before,” she wrote. “Maybe that was why identifying as trans declined.”

More data is emerging that supports a sharp decline in the number of young adults identifying as transgender or non-binary. (iStock)

Next, the professor — who is also the author of the book “Generations: The Real Differences between Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, Boomers and Silents” — looked at another nationally representative survey.

The Cooperative Election Study (CES), a nonprobability-based survey fielded each year in the fall by YouGov and administered by Tufts University, asked about transgender identification among all U.S. adults from 2021 to 2024. It also included a separate question about identifying as non-binary.

TRANS SURGERIES INCREASE RISK OF MENTAL HEALTH CONDITIONS, SUICIDAL IDEATIONS: STUDY

In 2021, 2022 and 2024, the CES asked, “Do you identify as transgender?” The choices were “yes,” “no” and “prefer not to say.”

“Prefer not to say” responses were treated as missing data, Twenge shared with Fox News Digital.

Beginning in 2021, the sex/gender question of the CES asked, “What is your gender?” with choices of “man,” “woman,” “non-binary” and “other.”

Among 18- to 22-year-olds, trans identification was cut nearly in half from 2022 to 2024 — and non-binary identification dropped by more than half between 2023 and 2024.

“When I looked at adults of all ages in the survey … I found a huge increase in identifying as transgender from those born before 1980 (Gen X and Boomers) to those born in the early 2000s (who are now 21 to 25 years old),” Twenge told Fox News Digital.

“Identifying as transgender then declined, especially for those born in 2005 and 2006 (who are now 18 to 20 years old).”

“I think the question now is not if trans is in decline, but how far it will fall.”

There are several theories as to why this is happening.

“One possibility is changes in acceptance; as acceptance increased, more young adults identified as transgender and/or were willing to identify as transgender in a survey,” Twenge said. “When acceptance declined, identifying as transgender (or at least identifying as transgender on a survey) declined.”

    Depressed teen

Among 18- to 22-year-olds, trans identification was cut nearly in half from 2022 to 2024 — and non-binary identification dropped by more than half between 2023 and 2024. (iStock)

In previous analyses looking at data from another survey, Twenge found that the increase in identifying as transgender between 2014 and 2023 did not extend to people over age 45 (Gen X and boomers).

“That makes it less likely that the changes are due to acceptance, which should impact people of all ages,” she said. “However, it’s possible that acceptance increased more among young adults between 2014 and 2023 and then decreased more into 2024.”

Twenge emphasized that identifying as transgender and identifying as non-binary are two different things.

“One of the reasons I did this analysis was because the surveys Prof. Kaufmann relied on did not ask about identifying as transgender — they asked about identifying as non-binary or something other than male or female,” she noted. “I wanted to see if there was a decline in identifying as transgender.”

She added, “I also thought it was important to look at a nationally representative sample and not just at students from elite schools.”

“Once people become more comfortable [with] who they are, they stop needing to define themselves so rigidly,” a mental health expert said. (iStock)

Kaufmann applauded Twenge’s new report, calling her “the best in the business.”

“I think the question now is not if trans is in decline,” he added, “but how far it will fall — and what the implications will be for the cultural progressive project, and for trends in gender surgery and diagnosis.”

“Perhaps young people are realizing they don’t have to announce or label everything about themselves to be valid.”

Jonathan Alpert, a New York City psychotherapist, said this shift likely marks a “natural correction.”

“For a while, we taught young people to over-interpret every feeling. Therapy culture told them that every discomfort needed a label or diagnosis,” Alpert, who was not part of the cited surveys, previously told Fox News Digital. “For some, that label became ‘non-binary’ — not identifying with a gender.”

Rather than rejecting who they are, Alpert said, young people may simply be tired of feeling pressure to define every emotion or difference with a new identity.

“So, in essence, it’s the performance that’s slowing down — at least in what this study showed,” he said. “A few years ago, identity was treated almost like a social badge. Now, perhaps young people are realizing they don’t have to announce or label everything about themselves to be valid.”

Alpert said he sees this same pattern in his own therapy practice.

“Once people become more comfortable [with] who they are, they stop needing to define themselves so rigidly. To me, that’s a sign of growing self-assurance, not intolerance.”

    By Riley Gaines for RealClearPolitics

Are you part of the 70% of American adults who support protecting the integrity and fairness of women’s sports by opposing males competing with and against females? If so, you’ll have a chance to stand with women in less than two months when America goes to the polls to choose the leaders who will make the laws and regulations that ensure women’s sports are only for women.

Let’s face it: Women’s rights are on the line in this election. The attack on our ability to compete fairly and safely in athletic competitions is unlike any we’ve seen since the enactment of Title IX in 1972. That law – which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any school or education program that receives federal funds – is largely responsible for the exponential growth of women’s sports over the last 50 years.

RELATED: Retired Border Chief Ordered to Not Report Border Crossers With Ties to Terrorism

That growth in participation is significant: In 1970, just 15% of college athletes were female; today, we make up 44% of college athletes. Female participation in high school sports has exploded over the last five decades, too: During the 1971-72 school year, fewer than 300,000 girls participated in sports – but by 2018-19, that number had increased more than ten-fold to almost 3.5 million girls in competition.

That growth in participation, brought about by the legally mandated equality of the sexes, is now threatened by politicians, too many of whom appear more committed to ideological goals than to biological reality.

Since the start of the Biden-Harris administration, federal bureaucrats have moved aggressively to tilt the playing field. The Biden-Harris administration’s rewrite of Title IX regulations, released April 19 of this year, takes the view that keeping women’s sports all female violates Title IX. That’s just wrong.

I’ve been fighting this kind of thinking at the federal and state level for some time. We’ve made significant progress – 26 states now have laws or regulations on the books protecting women’s sports. And at the federal level, we’ve succeeded in passing legislation through the House, and we’ve forced a vote in the Senate, which allows us to know who’s with us and who’s not. (For the record, on that House vote, every member of Congress who voted for the Protection of Women in Sports Act was a Republican, and every member who voted against it was a Democrat. And in the Senate, every incumbent Democratic senator voted against bringing a women’s sports amendment to the floor for a vote, while every senator who cosponsors the Title IX Congressional Review Act resolution is a Republican.)

We still have a ways to go. After the elections, we’ll have a new president and a new Congress, and we’ll try again to move legislation at the federal level to protect women’s sports and spaces – like domestic violence shelters, rape crisis centers, women’s prisons, and locker rooms, for example. So electing the right leaders in November will be crucial to the success of our efforts next year.

RELATED: Noncitizen Voting Ballot Measures in Eight States This Fall

To that end, Independent Women’s Voice has created the Riley Gaines Stand with Women Scorecard, a helpful tool that will draw clear contrasts on the issue. On the one hand will be lawmakers and prospective lawmakers who support fairness, equal opportunity, safety, and privacy in women’s sports and spaces; on the other hand will be those who do not.

The Scorecard is as simple as it sounds – it’s a first-of-its-kind resource that scores every candidate for federal office on whether or not they “Stand with Women,” meaning that they are committed to supporting legislation that preserves female opportunities and private spaces. The Riley Gaines Stand with Women Scorecard, made possible by Independent Women’s Voice, will become an indispensable tool for those of us committed to this vital issue.

Elections are about choices, and campaigns are about contrasts. The choices we make in November will guide the policies enacted and implemented by government at the federal, state, and local level, and will, in many ways, shape the contours of the contests in which our sisters and daughters compete and the safety they feel in their women-only spaces.

This new tool to help identify candidates who are as committed to the cause as we are will help ease the way forward as we fight to maintain equality of the sexes.

We know what a woman is, and what a female is, and we’re committed to standing with women for fairness and equality. We believe our political leaders should know and be committed to those things, too. And now, with Independent Women Voice’s Riley Gaines Stand with Women Scorecard, we’ll know which politicians are worthy of our support – and which are not.

  • No, the Electoral College Is Not a Relic of Slavery

No, the Electoral College Is Not a Relic of Slavery

    [ad_1]

Magog the Ogre, CC0, via Wikimedia Commons

    By Alex Xenos for RealClearPolitics

Consistent with federalist principles, the Constitution gives the states control over our presidential elections, providing a check on majoritarianism.

Since the 2000 presidential election, the left has worked to undermine the legitimacy of the Electoral College, labeling it a relic of slavery. No doubt, if Donald Trump returns to the White House while again losing the popular vote, these attacks will be renewed with fervor. In fact, it has already begun as commentators denounce the undemocratic nature of the system. Just last month, the New York Times published a piece trashing the Constitution and asserting that the Electoral College’s only purpose was to protect slavery. These critiques are based on misconceptions and hostility toward the very structure of our Constitution.

RELATED: Florida Sues Over Violent Foreign Nationals Being Released from Prison into U.S.

    The History

Our method of electing the president came about through compromise. The framers agreed upon a system that ensured the states had a say in choosing the president. The Constitution gives each state a share of electors, and the states decide for themselves how to select those electors.

At the time of the constitutional convention, popular elections would have favored the North because the North’s population of free persons would have outstripped the South’s. This dynamic is why the South pushed for a system that proportioned the electoral vote based on population, including slaves.

But nothing in the Electoral College system inherently favored slavery. You could have had an Electoral College system that did not count slaves as part of the population for the purpose of distributing electors. Thus, it was the counting of slaves in proportioning electors via the infamous two-thirds clause that protected slavery.

In fact, even if slavery had never existed, the states would never have agreed to a method of electing the president that stripped them of having a say in the matter. Protecting state sovereignty and ensuring less populous states had influence were key features of the compromise. Therefore, slavery may have been one of several reasons for the compromise, but it certainly was not the reason.

RELATED: ‘Diversity’ Doesn’t Include Disabled Veterans Like Me

    The Merits

The way state delegations elect the chief executive may have been the product of compromise, but that does not detract from the merits of the system, which include geographic representation and respect for state sovereignty. This is true even if you believe the Electoral College is a part of slavery’s legacy.

In a national election, in a country as large and diverse as ours, representation based on geographic segments of the population is far superior to the mob rule of a purely popular vote. We are not a monolithic society. Life and perspectives vary based on location. This is especially true when you consider the differences between state governments, which attract different types of people.

America is an enormous nation, and a system based solely on the popular vote would allow densely populated cities to dominate. This dynamic is particularly problematic when one considers that urban populations often want to impose their culture and policy preferences on others, whereas rural populations generally want to be left alone. Just think about how Democrats want virtually everything to be regulated nationally by the feds.

But regardless of this left-versus-right paradigm, it is simply better to give the different geographic elements of the nation and the states a voice on national matters to somewhat lessen the ability of the majority to steamroll political minorities.

Furthermore, as much as the left would love to abolish the states, there is no United States without the states themselves. Our federalist system allows for better representation of different segments of our population and, therefore, allows for better governance. The states, as separate sovereigns, must have a say in who becomes president.

The Electoral College also affects the politics of presidential campaigns. Candidates are forced to consider the respective views held in different states, particularly of those voters in the less partisan swing states. This political circumstance has a way of diffusing power and lessening the focus on densely populated cities, allowing for perspectives outside of the urban thought bubble to participate.

Another popular attack on the Electoral College is that it is undemocratic. But American government was never meant to be based on democracy. Rather, democracy was meant to be a component, albeit an important one, of our constitutional republic. The protection of liberty and the rights of individuals are far more important than the ability of the majority to impose their will.

RELATED: Walz Subpoenaed for Oversight of $250 Million Fraud Scheme

Moreover, the president is not even supposed to be a representative of the people in our constitutional system. That is what the House of Representatives is for. Thus, the argument against the Electoral College is an argument not just against our Constitution’s federalist principles but against the Constitution’s separation of powers as well.

Our Electoral College system might not be perfect, but it is far better than an election by direct popular vote, which disregards our federalist principles.

Watch: Teacher Completely Dismantles Progressive Transgender Ideology in Under 5 Minutes

    [ad_1]

    Opinion

Screenshot YouTube : Secret Scholar Society

A teacher’s YouTube channel clip has gone viral on social media as a master class in the ancient art of critical thinking. In less than five minutes, the teacher helps a young student through a simple critical thinking exercise using the alleged transphobia illustrated by acclaimed children’s author J.K. Rowling.

Without giving his own opinion on the possible transphobia of J.K. Rowling, the teacher asks basic questions that eventually lead the student to admit the unfortunate reality that he’s a willing victim of groupthink. Let’s dive into the quick lesson and what it means for our society.

I’ve heard it, so it’s true

Teacher and host of the YouTube channel The Secret Scholar Society Warren Smith conducted a thought experiment with a student who wanted to discuss the public opinion of J.K. Rowling, given comments she’s made about the gender ideology movement.

    The student asks Mr. Smith:

“Do you still like her work despite her bigoted opinions?”

Mr. Smith challenges the student to prove that J.K. Rowling has bigoted opinions, given that he boldly asked his question as if it were a statement of fact.

    The student replies:

“She has had a history of being extremely transphobic, I’ve heard.”

As any good educator, Mr. Smith forces the student to provide actual proof of said “extreme transphobia.” After a few moments, the student produces as evidence a tweet from 2019 when J.K. Rowling wrote:

“Dress however you please. Call yourself whatever you like. Sleep with any consenting adult who’ll have you. Live your best life in peace and security. But force women out of their jobs for stating that sex is real?”

Mr. Smith asked the student to critically analyze the tweet without considering what other people claimed about the tweet. This is when the clip gets comical.

RELATED: Fans Turn On Conservative Comedian Shane Gillis After He Teams Up With Bud Light – ‘You Sold Out’

    Relative reality

    The student starts by admitting:

“I don’t really have an opinion on it, but I’m just going with what a lot of other people have said.”

Uttering the above statement should be enough to snap an individual back to reality with an accompanying feeling of shame for being so vapid. However, it takes a bit more prodding for this young man to realize how mindlessly he has been following the masses.

    Mr. Smith says gently:

“Let’s not go with what other people are saying. Let’s try and learn how to critically think.”

It doesn’t take too long for the student to admit the following:

“So to me no stating that sex is real is not transphobic, it’s just a fact of life.”

RELATED: Tampon Machine In Boy’s Bathroom Ripped From Wall In Under 30 Minutes

It’s important to note the student’s attempt to hold onto the fact that J.K. Rowling’s statement could be transphobic with three little words: So to me. This caveat puts a foot in the door known as “perceived reality,” where if someone else thinks it’s transphobic to state sex is real, then it is.

Unfortunately for the left-wing progressives, truth is truth, not their truth, not my truth, or perceived truth. It’s just truth.

    Foolishness

The student tries one more time to provide another example of Ms. Rowling’s transphobia, providing what he called an “apology” from 2020.

    Ms. Rowling wrote:

“I respect every trans person’s right to live any way that feels authentic and comfortable to them. I’d march with you if you were discriminated against on the basis of being trans. At the same time, my life has been shaped by being female. I do not believe it’s hateful to say so.”

Mr. Smith provides his analysis of this tweet, explaining that J.K. Rowling is trying to say with this tweet that it’s OK to live your life as you wish. Still, it’s also OK to live her life as she wishes; freedom to be transgender does not equate to extinguishing her liberty to state the reality of sex.

    To which the student admits:

“I feel like an idiot now.”

The student continues to admit freely to his credit:

“Until today I haven’t really thought about it because I just believed, like, oh there’s five people saying it, it must be correct.”

And that, ladies and gentlemen, sums up the dismal state of our education system and culture.

RELATED: Megyn Kelly Points Out Feminism’s Hypocrisy Over ‘Barbie’ Oscar Snub – Who Stood Up for Riley Gaines?

    What’s the point

Higher education should teach critical thought in all aspects of study. Unfortunately, this particular case study, courtesy of Warren Smith and his students, illustrates this is not the state of affairs.

    Mr. Smith tells the student:

“The whole point is to learn how to think, not what to think.”

Unfortunately, that isn’t the reality of higher education and not at all the goal of the progressive left that has control over institutions of higher learning and our culture. The goal is to indoctrinate society to think the way they want us to think. That has always been the purpose of government education.

Exercising our freedom to question what we are told and what we see is viewed as a threat to their power. Controlling our thoughts and silencing those who don’t fall in line with the approved “groupthink” is the strategy of the left and our society’s elite class.

While I think Warren Smith’s lesson on critical thinking for this student was brilliant, I would’ve liked it if he had explored if the student knew what instigated J.K. Rowling’s first tweet he used as “evidence” of “extreme transphobia.” For those who care (and all of us should because context matters), the tweet was in response to researcher Maya Forstater losing her job at a think tank for tweeting criticisms about gender ideology.

Of note, Ms. Forstater won her court case after a long legal battle. Ms. Forstater said of her win:

“My case has exposed institutionalized discrimination against, and the routine abuse and smearing of, people with perfectly ordinary beliefs about the material reality of sex.”

Indeed, her case and this particular student’s ignorance both expose institutionalized discrimination against people with ordinary beliefs about sex. Until society stops drinking the group-think Kool-Aid, people like Ms. Forstater, Ms. Rowling, and countless others will continue to be falsely labeled as bigots.

Florida Public Universities Replace Sociology With U.S. History Course In Core Curriculum

    [ad_1]

Students at Florida’s 12 public universities will be offered an American history class instead of sociology as an option in the general education core curriculum, the state university system’s board of governors announced Wednesday.

This follows a similar move last week by Florida’s Board of Education, which banned the use of public funds for diversity, equity and inclusion programs at all 28 state colleges in Florida, in what appears to be yet another effort by the Republican-led state to clamp down on education.

The Principles of Sociology course, which students were previously able to take to satisfy the core curriculum’s social sciences requirement, will be replaced by Introductory Survey to 1877. The new option provides “a historically accurate account of America’s founding, the horrors of slavery, the resulting Civil War, and the Reconstruction era,” the board of governors said in a press release.

Chancellor Ray Rodrigues said that he was “proud” of the decision, adding that he expects the change to have a “positive impact” on students.

“Florida’s students of our State University System will have the opportunity to learn about the creation and development of our nation as part of the core course options,” Rodrigues said.

Three members of the board of governors voted against the change, including Ashley Bell Barnett, who said that there is value in studying “the history of some of the various movements, and Marxism and all that are important to look at society today.”

“There is a difference between exposure and indoctrination on how beliefs in the sociology courses are taught,” she said, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Meanwhile, the board of education’s decision last week was unanimous.

“Sociology has been hijacked by left-wing activists and no longer serves its intended purpose as a general knowledge course for students,” Manny Díaz Jr., Florida’s commissioner of education, wrote last month on social media.

Under the leadership of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), “Florida’s higher education system will focus on preparing students for high-demand, high-wage jobs, not woke ideology,” Díaz added.

The American Sociological Association said that it was “outraged” by Wednesday’s announcement, pointing to an absence of evidence supporting the move.

“This decision seems to be coming not from an informed perspective, but rather from a gross misunderstanding of sociology as an illegitimate discipline driven by ‘radical’ and ‘woke’ ideology,” the professional association said in statement shared with HuffPost.

“To the contrary, sociology is the scientific study of social life, social change, and the social causes and consequences of human behavior, which are at the core of civic literacy and are essential to a broad range of careers,” it added.

Florida is home to the country’s second-largest public university system, with over 430,000 students.

  • Florida Republicans Move To Ban 'Pride' and Other Ideological Flags from Government Buildings

Florida Republicans Move To Ban 'Pride' and Other Ideological Flags from Government Buildings

    [ad_1]

    Opinion

    Stock Catalog, via Wikimedia Commons

This week, the Florida House of Representatives passed legislation along party lines that would ban ideologically-based flags from flying in government buildings. This legislation allows for the traditional flying of the American, state, and POW/MIA flags.

It didn’t take long for the Floridian liberals to claim the legislation is rooted in homophobia and transphobia, alleging that the goal of the bill is to ban the rainbow pride flag from flying in public schools and other government buildings. As usual, the Florida legislation does not pinpoint homosexuals or the pride flag specifically, but that never stops the pride movement from making any Republican effort solely about them.

    Common sense

The Florida House Republican legislation states that:

“a government entity may not erect or display a flag that represents a political viewpoint, including, but not limited to, a politically partisan, racial, sexual orientation and gender, or political ideology viewpoint.”

The language pertains to more than just the pride flag, although it would be included. The legislation would also relate to political campaign flags, Black Lives Matter flags, Blue Lives Matter flags, and quite literally any flag that isn’t the American flag, state flag, or POW/MIA flag.

    Republican Representative Doug Bankson explained:

“This is something that literally is bringing us back to the focus of education and not indoctrination.”

RELATED: Joy Reid’s Racist Rant On MLK Day – White Christians Are ‘Overrepresented’ In Iowa

Illustrating the ironic inclusiveness of this legislation, Republican Representative Randy Fine said:

“I don’t want the Hamas flag flying in this room. I don’t want the Black Lives Matter flag flying in this room, and I don’t want the Trump for president flag flying in this room. Those aren’t appropriate. They’re not appropriate in this room, they’re not appropriate in our schools, they’re not appropriate in our government buildings.”

Despite these seemingly sound arguments, the liberals still had plenty to say in opposition.

    Unifying by separating

A nonbinary college student named Matthew Grocholske complained:

“I’m tired of telling our government that I have a right to exist. A pride flag isn’t just a flag, it is a symbol to me that my very existence means something – it’s a flag that unites my community, like how the American flag unites us all.”

Setting aside the obvious fact that not having a pride flag displayed in City Hall or his public school’s classroom doesn’t cause him to disappear from the realm of existence, Mr. Grocholske can still display his symbol of segregated unity on his person as the legislation doesn’t apply to students. Mr. Grocholske can even hang the symbol that anchors his psychological existence in his bedroom in his private residence or even outside his private residence.

RELATED: World Health Organization Hires Transgender Activist With ‘Be Gay, Do Crimes’ Tattoo

The point behind making sure government buildings and, in particular, public schools only fly the American flag is to ensure everyone is included. Flying the pride flag alienates heterosexuals and could also alienate Christians, and those of other faiths who believe homosexuality and any other deviations from heterosexuality is a sin.

But inclusivity only seems to matter for anyone other than those of faith or heterosexuals.

    The hidden dangers

    Republican Representative David Borrero argued:

“Public classrooms should not be the place where our kids go to be radicalized and evangelized into accepting these partisan, radical ideologies.”

His argument touches not just on the pride flag but other flags, such as the Black Lives Matter flag. Democrat Representative Dotie Joseph countered:

“Affirming that Black Lives Matter is not ideology, displaying a pride flag does not hurt anyone.”

And yet it was under the banner of Black Lives Matter that major cities across the United States endured the worst property damage in history, with dozens of innocent lives lost. All in the name of an organization dripping with the trappings of Marxism and consistently neck deep in financial controversy.

Public classrooms should be where American students of all flavors learn arithmetic, reading, writing, history, and science. American students should learn these crucial subjects under the nationally unifying American flag.

Instead, they aren’t learning how to do math, read, write, participate in a meaningful way with their government, or discover new things, as evidenced by recent national report cards. But they sure are good at siloing themselves into racial and sexualized camps under flags meant to build revenue, not unity.

Karin A. Lips' 'You're Not Alone: The Conservative Woman's Guide to College' Sets to Empower Young Women Stepping Foot on Liberal Campuses

    [ad_1]

    Opinion

I’m a dude (despite the fact that according to some professors throughout the nation, anyone can be a “dude” these days), but that doesn’t mean it’s plain as day to see that throughout the country, conservative women on campuses face a unique variety of challenges men such as myself will never have to tangle with.

Luckily for the ladies out there, Network of Enlightened Women (NeW) president and founder Karin A. Lips has a new book out which sets itself up to be the definitive guide for handling the challenges of surviving a liberal campus with your sanity, integrity, and dignity intact.

Lips’ new book, “You’re Not Alone: The Conservative Woman’s Guide to College,” emerges as a significant work because of it’s mission to show young, conservative women that the difficulties they encounter from liberal professors and students, whether it be directly in the classroom or throughout campus, are experienced by others and there are answers out there.

RELATED: Megyn Kelly And Candace Owens Go At It In Epic Battle Over College Students Protesting Israel

    Stronger Together

For context, Lips has been an advocate for conservative women for some time now, so if anyone is the definitive expert on this topic, it’s certainly her. As president and founder of NeW, Lips has managed to establish and lead a true platform for conservative women to speak honestly about their views and the experiences they carry with them – having gone through the university experience without coming out the end a blue-haired, feminist, communist who also can’t determine their own gender.

The primary goal of “You’re Not Alone” is to equip young conservative women with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate the predominantly liberal terrain of higher education. The book provides a blend of personal stories, practical advice, and strategies to help these women thrive in academia without compromising their conservative beliefs. It addresses the challenges they face, such as liberal bias, self-censorship, and the need to find supportive networks.

Conservative Women Standing up For Each Other

Popular conservative women who have backed this book include Senator Marsha Blackburn, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, and Townhall editor Katie Pavlich. If you know anything about these three, you know that in the political sphere they received flack over the years for not just being conservatives, but being women who are also conservative— often targeted because their views and actions along don’t align with the progressive agenda that has largely dominated the female vote in the United States in recent times.

“Navigating college can be challenging, but this book offers a road map for conservative women to stick to their principles, thrive on campus, and succeed,” said Katie Pavlich.

I appreciate NeW ensuring that our next generation of young women are ready to take on the important challenges facing our nation and society,” said Senator Marsha Blackburn. “Reading this book is a great first step in setting yourself up for success as a conservative woman in a liberal world. Do not give up, and keep fighting for your values and faith!”

Yes, Even Dudes Will Get Something Out of This

From the perspective of a conservative man, the book’s significance cannot be overstated. It brings to light the unique challenges that conservative women face in college settings. These challenges include pressures to conform to the majority view, the quest for fair representation, and the balancing of academic and personal convictions.

The book not only acknowledges these struggles but also offers guidance and solidarity to those who might feel isolated due to their conservative views.

“You’re Not Alone” is an essential read not only for conservative women embarking on their college journey, but also for a broader audience interested in understanding the diverse experiences within our educational institutions. It is a valuable resource for parents, educators, and anyone who supports intellectual diversity and the freedom of thought.

Poll Shows 40% of Democrats Want to 'Cancel' George Washington

    [ad_1]

    Opinion

“1 George Washington” by US Department of State

A recent poll by Rasmussen Reports shows Democrats approve of a proposal that would essentially ‘cancel’ George Washington and remove his statue from New York City.

George Washington is – and this is a reminder for liberals mostly – the man who commanded the Continental Army in the American Revolution, nearly single-handedly held the rebellion together despite overwhelming odds, and then served two terms as the first president of the United States.

They want to remove a statue of that guy.

Rasmussen Reports indicates that 82% of those surveyed have a favorable impression of Washington.

And even with that support, they reveal 40% of Democrats approve of removing monuments to Washington – including 21% who Strongly Approve – while 53% disapprove.

That is a shockingly almost even split.

New York City Wants to Remove Statue of George Washington

So what prompted this reaction from Democrat voters? What could they possibly be commenting on George Washington for? Could an effort to cancel him be real?

    Sadly, it is.

Rasmussen asked the polling question because the New York City Council is considering a measure to remove artwork with the likenesses of individuals such as Washington or Christopher Columbus.

Columbus was a migrant for crying out loud.

Washington’s sin? Having owned slaves, a product of his time, never mind the fact that he was one of the few planters who actually freed all of his.

This is the kind of cancel culture run amok that has been allowed under Democrat-run states and cities. And it’s embarrassing.

Pretty sure if Washington were alive today he’d gladly tell King George III to keep New York.

    Trump Warned You

You can’t just chalk it up to liberals having an infantile approach to seeing the world, either. Infants would have had their little tantrum, smashed a few Confederate statues here and there, and returned to being civilized members of society eventually.

You know, let out of time out, so to speak.

This is, instead, mental illness. The drive to cancel every single human being for every single flaw they may have ever had is disturbing. It’s an effort to force purity down everybody’s throats.

Sounds like 1930s Germany if you ask me. Isn’t it the left that’s always calling people out for being fascists?

Former President Donald Trump warned the country that liberals were going to take us down this path.

When vandals were tearing down confederate statues in 2017, Trump semi-joked that monuments to Washington and Thomas Jefferson would be the next to be erased from our history.

“George Washington was a slave owner,” Trump told reporters. “Was George Washington a slave owner? So, will George Washington now lose his status? Are we going to take down statues to George Washington?”

And here we are. The ongoing cancel culture against our Founding Fathers and other historical figures has produced some gems.

The left has previously demanded George Washington’s statues be removed, the Thomas Jefferson Memorial be relegated to a museum, and parks named after Andrew Jackson to be dedicated instead to honor Michael Jackson.

    These aren’t serious adults, folks.

If you think these are idle threats, however, you’d be wrong.

A statue of Thomas Jefferson, the drafter of the Declaration of Independence and America’s third president, was removed from City Hall in New York two years ago because he was a slaveholder.

Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.

  • Have Republican Voters Put the Idea of “Woke” to Bed?

Have Republican Voters Put the Idea of “Woke” to Bed?

    [ad_1]

The watchword of the 2024 Republican primary has arguably been “woke.” Namely, an opposition to it. Yet according to polling of GOP primary voters by The New York Times, attacks on wokeness may not be a winning formula.

In late 2021, Virginia Gov. Glenn Younkins won a surprise gubernatorial victory after running a campaign laser-focused on “critical race theory” being taught in the state’s public schools. Ever since, Republican politicians have thought they’d discovered a path to victory, one that would peel away some of the suburban voters that had one year prior delivered the presidency to Joe Biden. (Loudoun County, a wealthy Virginia suburb that went for Joe Biden in the presidential election, later became the epicenter of Younkins’ attacks on school curriculum and was instrumental in Republican Younkin’s upset win.)

Yet a series of Times/Siena polls found that just a quarter of national Republican voters preferred a candidate “who focuses on defeating radical ‘woke’ ideology in our schools, media, and culture” over one “who focuses on restoring law and order in our streets and at the border.” Nearly two-thirds of respondents opted for the law and order candidate. Those numbers were even starker for the 65-and-older crowd, who vote in high numbers. The Times’s findings were consistent for respondents in Iowa, where the first-in-the-nation primary will take place in mid-January.

Asked whether they’d prefer a candidate who vowed to fight “woke” corporations or a candidate who “says that the government should stay out of deciding what corporations should support,” 52 percent opted for the latter, and just 38 percent for the former. And more than half of national Republican voters said they care more about a candidate protecting individual freedom over one whose stated mission is to restore “traditional values.”

Biotech investor Vivek Ramaswamy, who currently sits in third place in Republican primary polls, began his political career with a book titled Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam. As late as May, he was calling wokeness “a cultural cancer.” Yet in an interview with The Times, Ramaswamy acknowledged that the polling results had shifted his focus. His campaign ditched stickers that read “Stop Wokeism. Vote Vivek” and replaced them with hats emblazoned with the word “Truth.”

“At the time I came to be focused on this issue, no one knew what the word was,” Ramaswamy told The Times of his former anti-“woke” agenda. “Now that they have caught up, the puck has moved. It’s in my rearview mirror as well.” (Vivek’s shift away from the term seems to be overstated: a day after speaking to The Times, Ramaswamy sent out a fundraising pitch titled “Wokeness killing the American Dream”.)

But the candidate who has made attacks on “wokeness” most central to his appeal is Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who currently trails former president and Republican hopeful Donald Trump by nearly 40 points. “I totally reject, being in Iowa, New Hampshire, that people don’t think those are important,” DeSantis told The Times, referring to his anti-woke policies, which have included attacks on Disney, bans on gender-affirming care for youth, and attempts to yank the state’s education system to the right. “These families with children are thanking me for taking stands in Florida,” he said. And while some of DeSantis’s donors have called out his extreme stances, his super PAC’s largest donor, who on Friday said he’d no longer donate to DeSantis’s campaign due to the governor’s draconian abortion restriction, also said DeSantis was “spot on” in his attacks on “wokeism.”

In an obvious dig at DeSantis at a June campaign stop in Iowa, Trump said he didn’t like the term “woke,” adding, “It’s just a term they use—half the people can’t even define it, they don’t know what it is.” Asked about the poll results this week, a Trump campaign spokesman told the Times, “Americans want to return to a prosperous nation, and there’s only one person who can do that—President Trump.”

  • Ron DeSantis Admits Even Opponents Of ‘Wokeness’ Can’t Define It

Ron DeSantis Admits Even Opponents Of ‘Wokeness’ Can’t Define It

    [ad_1]

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) released a new plan on Tuesday to “rip wokeness from the military” to juice enlistment. But when confronted with data suggesting that wokeness isn’t a major factor keeping Americans from joining the armed forces, the presidential candidate claimed that most opponents of “wokeness” can’t actually define the term.

“Not everyone really knows what wokeness is,” DeSantis told CNN host Jake Tapper after Tapper told him that “wokeness” placed well below the most common reasons people have for not enlisting, which include the fear of dying or suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. “I mean, I’ve defined it, but a lot of people who rail against wokeness can’t even define it.”

DeSantis made the comments during his first taped sit-down interview with a mainstream news outlet, an effort to broaden his base of support in his stalled presidential bid against former President Donald Trump.

The 15-minute exclusive with CNN was preempted by the news that Trump is expecting his third criminal indictment, this one related to the special counsel probe into the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack, according to a post that Trump shared Tuesday afternoon on Truth Social.

DeSantis didn’t take the news as an opportunity to attack Trump — instead, he defended him.

“This country is going down the road of criminalizing political differences, and I think that’s wrong,” DeSantis said before describing earlier charges brought against Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg as flimsy and politically motivated.

“Alvin Bragg stretched the statue in Manhattan to be able to try to target Donald Trump. Most people, even people on the left, acknowledge if that wasn’t Trump, that case would not have likely been brought against a normal civilian,” DeSantis said.

Trump has not been as reluctant to go after DeSantis. Earlier this month, he derided the Florida governor for overusing the word “woke” to describe liberal ideology. “Half the people can’t even define it,” Trump said in Iowa.

DeSantis later defined “woke” to an NBC journalist as “a form of cultural Marxism” that’s about “putting merit and achievement behind identity politics, and it’s basically a war on the truth.”

Earlier in the day in South Carolina, DeSantis had rolled out a five-point military plan that would bar transgender members from serving in line with their gender identities. The plan would also do away with diversity and inclusion programs and courses that teach “critical race theory,” causes that DeSantis has promoted as governor and that he blames for slowing down military recruiting.

“People want to join the military because they think it’s something different,” he said on CNN, “and I think some of the civilian leaders in the military are trying to have the military mimic corporate America, academia. That’s ultimately not going to work.”

Conservatives Boycott Computers After Noticing Keyboard Can Be Used To Type ‘Trans’

    [ad_1]

NAMPA, ID—Expressing their dismay with yet another product overtaken by the liberal conspiracy to destroy traditional lifestyles, conservatives around the country reportedly began boycotting computers Friday after noticing their keyboards could be used to type the word “trans.” “These woke keyboards are attempting to force conservative fingers to type ‘trans,’ and I call on my fellow American patriots to destroy their computers immediately,” said local conservative man Bryce Whitten, adding that this was just another attempt by the global woke conspiracy to compel Americans to use the establishment alphabet. “I hate to think of the damage these anti-American computers have already done. I’ve used computers for years, but yesterday I found myself typing out the word ‘trans,’ and it hit me—this is an obvious effort by Marxist left-wing corporations like Apple and Microsoft, probably funded by George Soros, to make us type things we don’t want to type. They even have the T and R keys right next to each other to subliminally encourage innocent people to type ‘trans.’ I tried removing the T, R, A, N, and S keys, but then I realized I could still type ‘woke,’ and that was it for me. Who knows how deep into the alphabet this conspiracy goes. For Christ’s sake, they’re trying to market these computers to children! I urge my fellow conservatives to remove all computing devices with keyboards from their children’s hands so they can’t be groomed!” At press time, sources confirmed conservatives across the nation were trying to escape the woke conspiracy of left-wing letters by renouncing the English language entirely.

Fox News Host Throws Hissy Fit Over ‘Woke’ Legos

    [ad_1]

Fox News dedicated a segment to ridiculing Lego for “going woke” because it’s representing people with physical and mental disabilities in its new product line.

“Say it ain’t so,” Fox News host Harris Faulkner said on her program Wednesday. “Lego is going woke. The company unveiling a range of new characters in the effort to be more inclusive. Lego says the new characters will promote diversity and understanding.”

“Some will have anxiety issues. I don’t know how you show that,” she added, as her guest, Fox News radio host Jimmy Failla, scoffed. “One will have a missing limb. Another, Down syndrome. These are really important issues.”

The brand recently introduced new characters to its Friends line, including those with different skin tones, disabilities, limb difference and vitiligo.

The company said it had done so after feedback that “children had a desire to see themselves, their friends and their families better represented.”

Somehow, according to Failla, this is outrageous.

“It shouldn’t be going on the way it’s going on,” Failla beefed. “But the reason they force identity into toys is because they think identity comes with a built-in political orientation. And that’s what they’re after here. I’m not having it.”

Fox News hosts have made a habit of melting down over changes to everything from children’s toys to candy as part of the conservative culture war grievance over so-called “woke” efforts to increase diversity and representation.

  • Roald Dahl’s New Editions of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, ‘James and the Giant Peach’ And Others Have Been Edited For Sensitivity

Roald Dahl’s New Editions of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, ‘James and the Giant Peach’ And Others Have Been Edited For Sensitivity

    [ad_1]

The children’s fiction written by Roald Dahl will undergo modification in its next printing, according to a report by the Daily Telegraph. Puffin Books, the British children’s division of the Anglo-American publisher Penguin Random House owned by the German conglomerate Bertelsmann, has hired sensitivity readers to grab their red pens and make “hundreds of changes to the original text” on titles like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda and others so that they “can continue to be enjoyed by all today.”

Specifically, the word “fat” has been excised from Dahl’s corpus. Augustus Gloop, the voracious German boy with an insatiable sweet tooth from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is now referred to as “enormous.” Willy Wonka’s tuneful factory workers, the Oompa Loompas, are not referred to as “tiny”, “titchy” or “no higher than my knee,” but merely “small.” Moreover, they are not “small men” but “small people.” Mrs. Twit of The Twits is no longer described as “fearfully ugly.”

In addition to changes or omissions to the text, new lines have been inserted. In The Witches, for example, after it is revealed that Dahl’s witches wear wigs to cover their baldness, upcoming versions will read “There are plenty of other reasons why women might wear wigs and there is certainly nothing wrong with that.”

Other changes include swapping out the phrase “boys and girls” to “children,” calling Cloud-Men (in James and the Giant Peach) “Cloud-People,” young Matilda now reads the work of Jane Austen instead of Rudyard Kipling, and Mr. Fox (of Fantastic Mr. Fox) has three daughters instead of sons. The words “crazy” and “mad” have been removed from descriptions across the board as have, apparently, the use of the colors white or black as descriptors. The Big Friendly Giant of The BFG no longer wears a black cloak, and characters no longer turn “white with fear,” according to the report. (The Telegraph followed up in an article with an expanded list of alterations—”old hag” out, “old crow” in—which can be read here.)

In 2021, Netflix finalized a deal to purchase the Roald Dahl Story Company with an eye toward a shared universe of properties and a $1 billion production plan. The cost of the acquisition was reported at $686 million. At the time, Netflix boasted that Dahl’s books continue to grow in popularity worldwide with “one new book sold every 2.6 seconds.”

Puffin’s changes to future publications of the books commenced in 2020, prior to the Netflix deal and when the Roald Dahl Story Company was still run by Dahl’s heirs. However, the Netflix deal initiated in 2018.

Dahl was born in 1916 in Wales to wealthy Norwegian parents, was educated in England, and later worked in Kenya and modern-day Tanzania on behalf of Shell Oil. He joined the Royal Air Force during World War II, and was a squadron leader. His first published work (inspired by a conversation with “Horatio Hornblower” creator C.S. Forester) was a story about his wartime adventures. He died in 1990 (and was ranked Forbes’s highest paid dead celebrity in 2021) and did not avoid criticism in his own lifetime.

The Oompa Loompas of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory were, in the original 1964 text and illustrations, presented as exaggeration of pygmy peoples from “the very deepest and darkest part of the African jungle.” By 1972, when Dahl published the sequel Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, the description of the factory workers in the new work and in reprints to the original was adjusted to having “golden-brown hair” and “rosy-white” skin, and appearing more like dwarfish hippies. In the 1971 film version, they had orange skin, green hair, and white eyebrows.

Furthermore, Dahl had more than once made statements that most would consider to be antisemitic. Most notorious was an interview in 1983 in which he said “There is a trait in the Jewish character that does provoke animosity, maybe it’s a kind of lack of generosity towards non-Jews. I mean, there’s always a reason why anti-anything crops up anywhere.” He added, “Even a stinker like Hitler didn’t just pick on them for no reason.” In a book review that same year he perpetuated many an antisemitic trope by asking why the United States was “so utterly dominated by the great Jewish financial institutions over there that they dare not defy them?”

In 2020, the Dahl family apologized, writing that “Those prejudiced remarks are incomprehensible to us and stand in marked contrast to the man we knew and to the values at the heart of Roald Dahl’s stories, which have positively impacted young people for generations.”
