BAFTA 2026: Hamnet had a huge win on Sunday. The Shakespeare drama – which features Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley in key roles – bagged Outstanding British Film award. The film triumphed over others contenders including Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, 28 Years Later, H Is For Hawk, I Swear, Mr Burton, Pillion, Steve and Die My Love. Rapper Stormzy presented the award at London’s Royal Festival Hall to producers Liza Marshall, Sir Sam Mendes, and Dame Pippa Harris. Jessie Buckley was also honoured with the Best Actress award for her impeccable performance. With two major awards under its belt, the film really stole the spotlight. However, Prince William’s unexpected statement left many shocked. The Prince of Wales – who has served as President of the British Academy of Film Awards since 2010 – showed no qualms in stating that he had not yet watched the movie.
BAFTA 2026: What did Prince Williams say?
Prince William revealed he is not in a “calm state” at the moment. He made this admission while explaining why he still has not watched one of this award season’s most talked about films. Prince Williams hit the red carpet at the 2026 British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) with wife Kate Middleton, the Prince of Wales. He said he has not yet watched Hamnet because he “needed to be in a calm mood” to watch it, the Daily Mail reported. “I need to be in quite a calm state and I am not at the moment. I will save it,” William said on the red carpet at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall in London. His statement appeared three days after his uncle, the former Prince Andrew was arrested.
Has Kate Williams watched Hamnet?
Princess Kate has watched the Chloé Zhao-directed film. For the unversed, the film had earned 11 total BAFTA nominations. William too mentioned that the film had left Kate teary-eyed. “Floods of tears” he said, according to the Daily Mail. Ahead of the ceremony, Kate joked that watching Hamnet before BAFTAs was a “bad idea”.

Police continued to search Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor‘s former home Friday after his arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office the day before, Fox News Digital can confirm.
Photographs showed police outside of Royal Lodge on Friday morning, Andrew’s former home in Berkshire. The Thames Valley Police confirmed the search of the former prince’s current home – Wood Farm – concluded Thursday.
The search of Andrew’s 30-room former home in the parkland near Windsor Castle, where the king’s younger brother had lived for decades until his eviction earlier this month, will reportedly continue through Monday, according to the BBC. Unmarked vans, believed to be police vehicles, have been entering the grounds throughout Friday morning.

Andrew was photographed arriving home to Sandringham Estate Thursday after spending roughly 10 hours in police custody.
The former prince could be seen in the backseat of a car as he arrived at Wood Farm, where he has been temporarily staying after being kicked out of the Royal Lodge.
Authorities arrested Andrew on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He has been accused of sharing confidential trade info with Jeffrey Epstein. Emails released by the Department of Justice (DOJ) as part of the Epstein files appeared to show former Prince Andrew sharing reports of official trade visits with the disgraced financier. One email showed Andrew sent Epstein the information five minutes after he received it.

Other police forces in the U.K. are also conducting their own investigations into Andrew’s ties to Epstein. The Metropolitan Police is investigating allegations London airports may have been used to facilitate human trafficking and sexual exploitation. “Separately, the Met is identifying and contacting former and serving officers who may have worked closely, in a protection capacity, with Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor,” the Metropolitan Police said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.
“They have been asked to consider carefully whether anything they saw or heard during that period of service may be relevant to our ongoing reviews and to share any information that could assist us,” the statement continued.
The Metropolitan Police added: “While we are aware of the extensive media reporting and commentary about this matter, as of today, no new criminal allegations have been made to the Met regarding sexual offences said to have occurred within our jurisdiction. We continue to urge anyone with new or relevant information to come forward. All allegations will be taken seriously and, as with any matter, any information received will be assessed and investigated where appropriate.”

Royal commentator Meredith Constant told Fox News Digital she believes Andrew allegedly sending Epstein confidential documents “only scratches the surface.”
Constant said the former prince’s conduct as U.K. trade envoy has been “a topic of concern for years now.”
“I have a feeling sending confidential documents to Jeffrey Epstein only scratches the surface,” Constant said. “It is past time for the U.K. Government to release files they’ve kept hidden from the public about Andrew’s time in public office.”

The exiled royal’s connection to Epstein eventually led to his arrest on his 66th birthday. Andrew allegedly sent confidential trade reports to Epstein in 2010. At the time, he was serving as Britain’s special envoy for international trade.
Specifically, emails released as part of the Epstein files appeared to show Andrew sharing reports of official visits to Hong Kong, Vietnam and Singapore.
One email, dated November 2010, appeared to be forwarded by Andrew five minutes after he had been sent it. In another, on Christmas Eve 2010, he appeared to send Epstein a confidential brief on investment opportunities in the reconstruction of Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
A newly released email showing Sarah Ferguson allegedly pleading for a job from disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein underscores what royal experts describe as a troubling pattern of judgment for the Duchess of York.
Former Prince Andrew’s ex-wife’s email about “desperately” needing money surfaced after the Department of Justice (DOJ) released more than three million Epstein records, including his personal emails. Inclusion in the files does not necessarily imply wrongdoing.
“But why I don’t understand, don’t you just get me to be your House Assistant,” Ferguson allegedly wrote in the 2010 email. “I am the most capable and desperately need the money.”

Royal experts slammed Ferguson for “begging” a convicted pedophile during financial hardship.
“This is beyond the pale,” royal commentator Hilary Fordwich told Fox News Digital.
She added: “If this was an isolated email it would be bad enough, but majorly significant is the compounding effect as it confirms her horrifically bad judgment, her moral depravity and her greedy ways, since she lived rather an extravagant lifestyle.”

Another royal expert pointed out Ferguson’s email to Epstein came at a moment of mounting pressure for the Duchess.
“Sarah Ferguson has always struggled with finances, but 2010 was a particularly bad year,” royal commentator Meredith Constant told Fox News Digital. “In May of 2010, she was caught in a ‘cash-for-access’ scandal, when News of the World sent a reporter disguised as a businessman and caught Sarah Ferguson promising access to former Prince Andrew, who was the U.K. trade envoy at the time, in exchange for £500,000.”
“This email to Epstein was sent mere days later,” she claimed. “I’m not surprised she was getting creative to find employment.”

An email where Ferguson made a crude comment about her then-19-year-old daughter also surfaced in the latest batch of documents released by the DOJ.
“This new revelation most certainly seals the end of any likelihood of any royal acceptance of either Sarah or Andrew,” Fordwich previously explained to Fox News Digital, claiming Prince William is “beyond disgusted.” “They are totally unfit for any royal proximity. Now Sarah can’t ever claim she was naïve, detached or unaware of reputational risk, it totally sinks her.”
In one email revealed – dated March 2010 – Epstein asked Ferguson about a trip to New York. Ferguson responded, “Not sure yet. Just waiting for Eugenie to come back from a shagging weekend!!”
Another email recently released by the DOJ shows Ferguson planning a lunch date with Epstein. “What address shall we come to. It will be myself, Beatrice and Eugenie,” she allegedly wrote in a 2009 email thread discussing lunch with the financier in Miami.

The continued fallout coincides with news that six of Ferguson’s companies are winding down.
S Phoenix Events, Fergie’s Farm, La Luna Investments, Solamoon Ltd, Philanthrepreneur Ltd and Planet Partners Productions Ltd are all set to shutter, according to the BBC.
Ferguson is listed as a director of each company.

Jolie has been waiting for her twins, Vivienne and Knox, to reach adulthood before making a long-considered move abroad.
The “Eternals” star “never wanted to live in L.A. full-time,” a source previously told People. “She didn’t have a choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad.”

“She’s eyeing several locations abroad,” the insider added. “She’ll be very happy when she’s able to leave Los Angeles.”
Jolie’s decision to move abroad is rooted in one priority — her children.
“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2024. “I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.”
She added, “I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia. I’ll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world.”

Jolie has a history with Cambodia. The “Girl, Interrupted” actress adopted her first child, Maddox, from Cambodia in 2002.
“Cambodia was the country that made me aware of refugees,” she later explained in an interview with Vogue India. “It made me engage in foreign affairs in a way I never had, and join UNHCR. Above all, it made me a mom.”
“In 2001, I was in a school program in Samlout playing blocks on the floor with a little kid and as clear as day I thought: ‘My son is here,’” she revealed. “A few months later, I met baby Mad at an orphanage. I can’t explain it and am not one to believe in messages or superstition. But it was just real and clear.”

Jolie adopted two more children, Zahara and Pax, after beginning her relationship with Pitt. The “Fight Club” star later adopted all three children as his own.
The now-50-year-old actress has said her decision to adopt was rooted in something deeply personal, not performative.
“When I was growing up, I wanted to adopt because I was aware there were kids that didn’t have parents,” she previously told Vanity Fair in 2008. “It’s not a humanitarian thing, because I don’t see it as a sacrifice. It’s a gift. We’re all lucky to have each other.”
“I look at Shiloh — because, obviously, physically, she is the one that looks like Brad and I when we were little — and say, ‘If these were our brothers and sisters, how much would we have known by the time we were six that it took into our 30s and 40s to figure out?’ I suppose I’m giving them the childhood I always wished I had.”

Her international ties have long shaped how she sees the world and, more recently, how she sees the United States. Jolie criticized the state of America in September while attending the San Sebastián Film Festival in Spain.
“I love my country, but at this time, I don’t recognize my country,” Jolie said during a panel discussion, according to Variety.
“I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life… My worldview is equal, united, and international. Anything anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms from anyone, I think, is very dangerous.”
She added, “These are such serious times that we have to be careful not to say things casually. These are very, very heavy times we are living in together.”

Jolie has been outspoken in her criticism of America for years, writing an op-ed for The New York Times in 2017 opposing President Donald Trump’s immigration ban.
At the time, Jolie emphasized she wanted the country to be safe but claimed the policy would do more harm than good.
“We can manage our security without writing off citizens of entire countries – even babies – as unsafe to visit our country by virtue of geography or religion,” Jolie wrote.
Dave Coulier credited early cancer detection with saving his life – twice.
The “Full House” star told Fox News Digital how routine medical visits helped doctors catch a second cancer early, a moment he now calls life-changing.
Coulier revealed Wednesday that he has entered complete remission after battling two cancer diagnoses in the last two years.
The 66-year-old actor insisted paying attention to subtle changes in his body made all the difference in his cancer battle while talking about his new business venture – AWEAR Market. Coulier recalled noticing warning signs he initially could have brushed off, a decision he now urges others not to repeat.

“Listen to your body. Your body will tell you things,” Coulier said. “And my body was telling me something’s going on. I wasn’t feeling right, and I didn’t have a lot of energy. And then I was taking a shower one morning and felt a lump in my groin area. And had I just thought, ‘Ah, I haven’t been feeling very well. It’s maybe a cold or something. My body is just naturally fighting this off.’ Had I not taken the step to call my doctor, at the urging of my wife, Melissa – She said, ‘We’re calling now, and making that appointment’ – things would have been much differently. We caught it early.”
“Your body will really send you some signals,” he added. “And I think for a lot of us, we procrastinate, and we say, ‘Oh, no, let this go and we’ll see how it goes.’ And when you get to that point with cancer – cancer is working out in the background every day. It’s getting stronger and stronger, and it’s a fight. So you have to be willing to put your pride aside and be a little vulnerable and go in and talk to someone who is an expert and those are your doctors. So I encourage everybody, talk to your doctors.”

Doctors diagnosed Coulier with HPV-related oropharyngeal tongue cancer in October 2025, a discovery made just months after celebrating his recovery from non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
During Coulier’s six-month checkup and PET scans, doctors discovered a flare-up had returned as an enlarged tumor. The actor believed the spot was caused by his lymphoma, but later found out the tumor was actually unrelated.
After 35 rounds of radiation and painful robotic surgery on his tongue, Coulier can finally begin to recover from his cancer battle.
“It’s a great relief,” Coulier explained about being in remission, “because when you’re struck with two different cancers in a year-and-a-half period, it is a double whammy. Cancer can steal a lot of things away from you, physically, psychologically, emotionally. And so you’re battling life on a bunch of different fronts. And I wasn’t going to allow cancer to steal those things from me.”
Coulier has become a staunch advocate for early detection, explaining how catching his second cancer early helped him avoid a “world of hurt.”
“It would have been a much different battle,” he said.

But early detection didn’t just save his life, it gave Coulier more opportunities. The TV star opened up about becoming an ambassador for The V Foundation for Cancer Research and the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer.
“It’s changed my life in a number of ways in that I think I can inspire people to get early detection and get those colonoscopies and prostate exams. And get those mammograms.
“Believe me, I never wanted to be the poster boy for cancer, but I’m willing to carry the flag for everyone and encourage others that this is a disease none of us should have to go through. Early detection can save your life too.”

While this new role was thrust upon him, Coulier leaned into helping others, launching AWEAR Market in December 2025. The idea for his business came to the actor while he was researching why his lymphatic system crashed.
“I went down the rabbit hole and I started looking at all the products in my own life and I realized I was surrounded by toxicity,” he explained to Fox News Digital.
After becoming a “professional label reader,” Coulier noticed everyday home products – toothpaste, toilet paper, garbage bags, skincare products, clothing – all contained PFAs, BPAs and microplastics.

But behind the momentum of his new venture was a far more difficult reality. Coulier said cancer treatment forced him to confront vulnerability in ways he never expected. He often felt pressured to stay positive and never wanted to feel like a burden – even when he lost the ability to get out of bed on his own.
“When you’re faced with those kinds of challenges, you realize that the people around you are very, very important,” Coulier said. “My wife Melissa was incredible throughout this whole process. She was there every single day with me and I didn’t want to be a burden on her.”
“And I think for a lot of men, it’s very tough to be vulnerable that way, because we consider ourselves the providers for our families. And we want to be a pillar of strength for everyone. So, for me, I realized I have to be vulnerable here, and I have to just kind of succumb to this illness but still battle it in my own way.”
Debra Messing and Michael Rapaport are fed up with the state of New York City’s streets following the massive snowstorm that blew through last weekend.
The two stars blasted Mayor Zohran Mamdani for not having the streets completely cleared nearly a week after the snowfall.
Rapaport had harsh words for the mayor as he showed his Instagram followers the buildup of snow and garbage lining the streets. The “Only Murders in the Building” star walked around filming large piles of snow from the initial plowing of the street that hadn’t yet melted along with mountains of trash that hadn’t been picked up.
“A week after the snowstorm and this is what we got Zoron the Shoveler! Filthy black snow, garbage soup, ice rinks on every corner, cars buried like fossils,” he wrote in his Instagram caption.

“This is New York City,” he added. “Three minutes from the mayor’s house. Start spreading the news… this place is a dirty snow covered dump.” “Clean it the f— up Mayor!”

Messing took to X to share her experience trying to make it to an appointment. The “Will & Grace” star explained it should have only taken 20 minutes, but claimed she’d been in the car for over an hour and 10 minutes due to gridlocked traffic.
“The streets are a disaster,” Messing wrote. “It hasn’t snowed in 5 days and the streets still haven’t been cleared. Poor ambulance sitting in aessentially [sic] a parking lot with sirens going.”
“I’m praying for the person needing emergency care,” she added. “I’ve lived here for 15 years (this go around) and this has never happened. The plows have always worked around the clock to get the city back to working. I wonder what happened?”
“Hang in there New Yorkers.”

Mayor Mamdani addressed the snow pileup at an unrelated press conference Monday morning.
“Typically, after snowfall of any kinds, rising temperatures would assist in the melting of that snow. Instead, what we are all experiencing is a cold that is continuing at a record pace, frankly,” he told reporters. “And what that has meant is that the entirety of the city’s response is up to the city workers themselves. And they have been doing an incredible job. However, it is a job that must continue, and it is also a job that has required us to go beyond the typical.”
“What I mean by that is we might typically have sanitation workers doing a lot of this work,” he added. “Right now, we have 2,500 sanitation workers each 12-hour shift, and we now have 1,500 additional workers, many of them coming from separate city agencies, who are supplementing that work, especially when it comes to bus stops and crosswalks. And, at this time, we are seeing that that is going to continue. What I’m thankful to see is that the pace of cleanup is increasing, and I’m hopeful that that continues to be the case across the five boroughs.”

A massive winter storm dumped sleet, freezing rain and snow across much of the U.S. on Jan. 25, bringing subzero temperatures and halting air and road traffic.
At least 10 people died in New York City due to the storm. Many of the deceased are believed to have been living on the streets, and some showed signs of hypothermia.
The death toll raised questions about whether more could have been done to protect the city’s vulnerable residents.
Melanie “Mel C” Chrisholm explained she’s “relieved” that her daughter doesn’t want to follow in her footsteps. “It’s so hard to be in the shadow of a parent who’s had success,” Mel C told The Times.
Mel C said she made a “conscious decision” to keep her daughter, Scarlet, out of the public eye, unlike some of her friends – who handled fame “very differently.”
“Oh, we kind of embrace nepo baby. F— it, let’s go for nepo baby!” she joked with the British outlet. “The thing is, with Scarlet, she’s not in the public eye. I made that conscious decision when she was a baby. Obviously, I have friends who handle it very differently, each to their own, no judgment at all. But for me, probably because of my experiences with fame, I didn’t feel comfortable making that decision for her.”

Mel C’s comments on parenting come as fellow Spice Girls star Victoria Beckham made headlines for her alleged parenting choices.
Victoria’s son, Brooklyn, called out the pop star and David Beckham in a series of scathing Instagram stories.
“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” Brooklyn wrote in his Jan. 19 social media rant. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed. I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
Mel C opened up about what it’s like to reunite with the Spice Girls behind closed doors.
“It’s more fun when it’s just us, and we haven’t changed,” she said of getting together with Victoria, Mel B, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell. “It’s like family. You know when you go home, and you just fall back into those roles?”
The fitness model explained the former band’s bond runs much deeper than friendship.
“People say, ‘Oh, are you still friends?’ It’s more than that. It runs so much deeper,” she told The Times. “We drive each other mad, you know? Someone is often acting up, and they have to get pulled back into line, but we’d probably go [to war] for each other.”

While the Spice Girls still find time to get together – Halliwell, Mel C and Victoria just got together with Bunton for her 50th birthday – they haven’t graced the stage as a group since 2019.
According to Mel C, it was the first time the women got to appreciate the “the legacy we’d created.”
“My personal view on this? It’s a public disservice for the Spice Girls to not get back on stage together,” she told The Times. “You’re speaking to the wrong person, because I’m there, you know?”
A senior Sony executive involved in the making of “It Ends With Us” had harsh words about Blake Lively.
Andrea “Ange” Giannetti admitted she called Lively a “f—ing terrorist” as the working relationship between the actress and director Justin Baldoni reportedly broke down while filming the romantic drama in 2023. In her deposition, obtained by Fox News Digital, Giannetti described a five-hour meeting in which Lively demanded specific requirements be agreed upon before she would return to work on the film.
At this point, Lively had expressed concern about Baldoni’s allegedly inappropriate behavior while filming “It Ends With Us.”
Giannetti claimed the 17-point list of protections Lively put forth was agreed to “because there was a tremendous amount of money that had been invested and spent, and we had to finish the movie or it was unreleasable.”

“Did Blake Lively threaten to leave the movie if the 17-point list wasn’t signed without alteration or revision?” Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, asked during the Sept. 23 deposition.
“That’s my understanding,” Giannetti responded.
Freedman asked, “Do you recall telling Jamey Heath that you thought Blake was a ‘f—ing terrorist’?”
“Yes,” she answered.
Much of Giannetti’s deposition focused on the sexual harassment claims made by Lively against Baldoni and the film’s producer, Jamey Heath. The Sony executive claimed she only knew of three allegedly uncomfortable incidents that had occurred during filming — a video shown to Lively, an encounter inside Lively’s trailer, and comments made to a cast member about her appearance.

Despite Lively’s characterization of the allegations as sexual harassment, the Sony executive insisted the behavior didn’t warrant HR intervention.
Ange Giannett: “I thought it was a s— show, and there was – those incidents alone were not reason to call HR for a movie that we were cofinancing and distributing.”
Esra Hudson: “How many women on a set have to be uncomfortable before you think it rises to the level of calling HR?
Ange Gianetti: “They didn’t like him.”
Esra Hudson: “What do you mean by that?”
Ange Giannetti: “They didn’t like him.”
Esra Hudson: “So you discounted their views on him?”
Ange Giannetti: “I heard of three incidents. You can ask me this a hundred times, I’m going to tell you the three incidents I know over and over again. The video, I saw the video. The trailer, we had a meeting in the trailer. It was resolved. And the director called Jenny Slate ‘hot’ in front of 300 people on set. Those were the three incidents. No, I did not think there was reason to call HR.”

In her own deposition, Lively discussed another meeting held with Baldoni, Heath and the film’s producer, Alex Saks, where she brought up the alleged incidents that had occurred on the film set. Baldoni’s lawyer repeatedly questioned why Lively didn’t classify the encounters as “sexual harassment” during the meeting, instead choosing to refer to them as “HR claims.”
“I don’t know what words I used because I wasn’t planning on addressing the HR issues with them directly in my trailer with Alex Saks in that moment,” Lively said during the July 31 deposition. “But I did express real concern for the things that had occurred thus far, including Jamey entering my trailer when I was naked from the waist up.”
Lively detailed exactly what was discussed with Baldoni, Heath and Saks during the meeting.
“I remember discussing the video that Jamey showed me. I remember discussing the – Jamey entering my trailer. And I remember – I don’t know if I told him this or if this is another thing that Ange shared, but how bad it felt for him to tell me personally that I felt sex – that I looked sexy and that I looked hot, and that I was also disturbed by the way that I understood Jenny to be feeling and experiences I’d seen with her.”
Despite using the term “HR claims” at the meeting, Lively claimed the actions she was describing were “pretty obviously sexual harassment.”

The “Age of Adaline” star accused Baldoni of sexual harassment while filming “It Ends With Us.” However, Baldoni insisted Lively had “falsely” accused him in an attempt to repair her reputation following fallout from the movie’s press tour after she allegedly took control of the film.

The year 2016 is making a comeback in 2026 as people flood Instagram with throwback posts reminiscing about what they viewed as an iconic year for popular culture and the internet.
In the past two weeks, many people online — from celebrities to regular Instagram users — dug through their camera rolls and Snapchat memories to unearth hyper-filtered photos of themselves a decade ago.
Many of the photos share common themes now emblematic of the era: a matte lip and winged eyeliner, bold eyebrows and glamorous eye shadow. Acai bowls and boxed water. Chokers, aviator glasses and boho outfits made trendy by Coachella.
“When I’m seeing people’s 2016 posts, even if they were in different states or slightly different ages, there’s all these similarities, like that dog filter or those chokers or The Chainsmokers,” said Katrina Yip, one of many people online who posted 2016 throwback photos. “It makes it so funny to realize that we were all part of this big movement that we didn’t really even know at the time was, like, just following the trend of that time.”
The trend has become the latest example of people online romanticizing a different time as a form of escapism. Last year, Gen Zers, typically defined as those ages 14-29, posted videos expressing love for the charm and “cringe” of millennials. There has also been a recent surge in millennial-focused pop culture, which has been celebrated online.
To many millennials and older Gen Z, 2016 was a year when community flourished on social media. People dumped their entire camera rolls into messy Facebook photo albums, sent each other silly Snapchat selfies and eagerly posted what they ate for brunch.
“If you’re older, like maybe you were 50 in 2016 and you weren’t on Instagram or a heavy internet user, you might be like, ‘Why does everyone care about this random year?’” said Steffy Degreff, who shared her own throwback photos last week.
Degreff, 38, said that for those who’ve been on social media for more than a decade, there’s nostalgia for the way social media used to function — with chronological feeds that focused only on the users people followed. There used to be an end to scrolling (specifically, when you ran out of updates from your friends). Platforms back then felt “a little bit less malicious” in their design, she said.
“I do think that 2016 was the beginning of the end of a golden era of when people felt really good about the internet and social media and politics,” she added. “And then, obviously, the pandemic happened.”
Many online who voiced their nostalgia described the overall energy of 2016 as “colorful” and “carefree.”
People often went out in crop tops and jeans with a flannel tied around their waist. They’d snap pictures of an outfit laid out carefully on their bed or of a giant acai bowl. Then, they’d pore over VSCO (a popular photo editing app) filters with their friends, debating which preset to choose.
“Now, we’ve gone very neutral-toned, like quiet luxury aesthetic, very minimal,” said Paige Lorentzen, who shared throwback photos featuring some of the trendiest brands of the time, such as Boxed Water Is Better and Triangl Swimwear. “Whereas back then, it was the brighter the saturation on your photos, the better. Everything felt like summer.”
The new year marked exactly 10 years since 2016; therefore, many online began posting the phrase “2026 is the new 2016,” according to the database Know Your Meme.
But “as the trend carried on, some social media users began posting videos denouncing the idea of making 2026 the new 2016, citing problems with living in the past and pointing out bad things that happened in 2016,” Know Your Meme added.
“Why is everyone trying to bring back 2016? Please don’t actually,” wrote an X user.
Still, some who look back fondly on the era, especially those who were in their teens in 2016, said life felt more carefree then.
“I know people’s perceptions of 2016 are based on their own experiences, but for me it was senior year of college. I lived by the beach; I didn’t have many college classes left,” said Lorentzen, 31. “It was before adulthood. So it kind of just embodied that carefree young California girl era.”
It was also before the concept of content creation began to dominate. While YouTubers and Instagram influencers existed, they seemed fewer and further away. And TikTok wasn’t around yet, although people would achieve stratospheric Vine stardom from time to time.
Some, like Yip, said that nowadays, her non-content creator friends and acquaintances rarely post online anymore unless it’s for a major life milestone.
“It was OK to be cringey, you know?” Yip said. “People were just posting for their friends. The people you followed on social media were just people you knew in real life. They weren’t celebrities or educational accounts, and so everything just felt like you were more in a little personal bubble.”
Content creator Teala Dunn, who grew a massive YouTube following sharing morning routines and vlogs in the mid-2010s, was one of the era’s trendiest influencers, particularly for teenage girls. She said that when she thinks of 2016, she recalls “fun and freedom and lightheartedness.”
“The internet was so popular, like a lot of things were starting to become really viral and fun,” Dunn said. “And I feel like a lot of people, especially influencers and YouTubers and all of my friends, we didn’t take things too seriously.”
Dunn said that the dynamic online has shifted to become drastically more parasocial and that harassment from strangers comes much more easily now than it did before. While Dunn still creates content now, she said she has scaled back how much she’s willing to reveal about her personal life.
And she, like many others, noted that 2016 seemed like one of the last years when life felt “normal.”
“I didn’t realize how much we took for granted normal life pre-Covid. Like, pre-Covid was a completely different time,” Dunn said. “I feel like the news was still crazy, but it was definitely not as crazy as the news is now. I feel like we can all agree to that. Things were just a lot more fun.”
Since its launch, TikTok has become one of the world’s most popular social media platforms, using recommendation algorithms to connect content creators and influencers with new audiences.
Mike Tomlin’s decision to step away after a blowout AFC Wild Card round loss pushed the Steelers into an uncharacteristic coaching search.
Tomlin did not specify a reason for stepping away in a statement released on Tuesday, but he thanked owner Art Rooney II and the late Ambassador Rooney for their trust over nearly two decades.
“While this chapter comes to a close, my respect and love for the Pittsburgh Steelers will never change. I am excited for what the future holds for this organization, and I will forever be grateful for my time coaching in Pittsburgh,” Tomlin concluded the statement.
Rooney II and Omar Khan will oversee the coaching search, with Rooney calling Tomlin’s decision unexpected but not surprising.

“It was his decision, and I will say that I wasn’t shocked, but I wasn’t expecting that conversation yesterday either,” Rooney said. “… I was certainly willing to take another run at it next year with Mike, and that was what I was expecting to talk about yesterday, but it went in another direction.”
Tomlin has two years left on his Steelers contract, and any team seeking to hire him before 2027 would need to compensate Pittsburgh. Rooney acknowledged the slim prospects of Tomlin coaching later this year and provided additional context on his departure, saying it was centered on his personal life.

“Mike indicated that he did not anticipate coaching in the near future,” Rooney said. “I think he wants to spend time with his family and do the things he hasn’t been able to do for the last, many years. So if something like that comes up, we’ll deal with it when it comes up, but it doesn’t seem like something on his radar.”
Rooney said he, Khan and other key decision-makers will take an open-minded approach to the rare coaching search.
“I’ve been involved in a number of searches going back to coach [Bill] Cowher and GM searches,” Rooney said as he recalled past coaching search experiences. “I think if I’ve learned anything about searches it’s to have an open mind. We had Mike in for his first interview, certainly wasn’t expecting him to be our head coach. I think you go through the process and be diligent and hopefully come out with the right guy.”

When asked about the qualities he will look for in candidates, Rooney said leadership is at the top of the list.
“I think there are a lot of things that go into being a successful head coach,” Rooney said. “No. 1 in my mind is leadership and trusting this person can step up in front of the team day in and day out and hold their attention and have them motivated to do what they do. That’s the most important.”
After defeating the Baltimore Ravens in Week 18 to clinch the AFC North and the final spot in the NFL playoffs, the Steelers scored just six points in Monday’s loss to the Houston Texans.

Los Angeles left Bradley Cooper feeling “f—ing miserable.”
Cooper opened up about feeling depressed while living in L.A. in his mid-twenties during an appearance on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. The “American Sniper” star compared the city to New York’s built-in sense of community.
L.A.’s “compartmentalized” layout left him feeling isolated and on the outside looking in, even while surrounded by the industry’s constant buzz.
Cooper noted that he “got very depressed” after arriving in the California city. “I was like, ‘This is high school all over again,’” he said. Cooper had been “in heaven” while attending grad school in New York City. “Then I get this job that I think is going to be the holy grail, and I’m miserable.”

“L.A. for me, it was — I think for me at least — was the geography,” Cooper said. “Going from New York City where, you know, you can go to Bar Six, which is on Sixth Avenue. No matter who you are, you go there with a couple friends, like you just feel like you’re in a cool place or a place that’s vibrant.”
“L.A. — it’s like if I wasn’t at work, I was in that first floor of the house or my rental car. And that was it.”

The now 51-year-old actor headed to L.A. for a role in “Alias” early in his career.
Cooper explained that the city felt “compartmentalized.” Although he felt isolated, the “Hangover” star knew of all the events happening around the city from the posters and billboards plastered around L.A.

Cooper said he sensed, “If you’re not in, you’re out.”
“And I just remember thinking, like, somebody somewhere in this town is having a ball right now, and it’s not me. Do you know what I mean? And then that just leads to, how can I cope?”
“And like not getting into bars, clubs, you know, like girls not really looking at you, all that stuff,” Cooper added. “And all of a sudden, it’s like seventh grade, and I’m 25 years old. And it’s, like — and I should be happy, because … by the end of this year, I’m going to pay off my student loan. But I’m f—ing miserable, and what’s wrong with me?”
James Nnaji, a 2023 NBA Draft pick, was allowed by the NCAA to commit to Baylor to play the second half of this season — an unprecedented move that shocked many in the basketball world.
Among those confused by Nnaji’s commitment was Arkansas head coach John Calipari, who didn’t mince his words when discussing the state of college basketball following the Razorbacks’ 103-74 win over James Madison on Monday.
Calipari, who won a national championship during his time coaching at Kentucky, went almost seven minutes during his post-game press conference talking about today’s game after a reporter asked his thoughts on the Nnaji move.

“I’ve got friends that are playing with 27-year-olds, and they feel bad, and I said, ‘Don’t feel bad. We don’t have any rules. Why should you feel bad?’” Calipari said, per Awful Announcing. “But let me give you this. Real simple: the rules bees the rules. So, if you put your name in the draft, I don’t care if you’re from Russia and you stay in the draft, you can’t play college basketball. ‘Well, that’s only for American kids.’ What? If your name is in that draft, and you got drafted, you can’t play college because that’s our rule. ‘Yeah, but that’s only for American kids.’ OK. OK.”
Nnaji may have started a trend that Calipari, and likely others, won’t like to see if it comes to fruition.
Trentyn Flowers, who is currently on a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls after going undrafted in 2024, is reportedly drawing interest from the Michigan Wolverines. Flowers was a member of the National Basketball League as a member of the Next Stars program, playing for the Adelaide 36ers in Australia instead of going to college.
If Flowers is allowed to play anywhere in college basketball this season, the NCAA would likely face some vitriol considering it could open a vast portal of fringe NBA players looking to restart.

“Does anybody care what this is doing for 17-and 18-year-old American kids?” Calipari questioned in his monologue. “Do you know what this opportunity has done for them and their families? There aren’t gonna be any high school kids. Who, other than dumb people like me, are gonna recruit high school kids? I get so much satisfaction out of coaching young kids and seeing them grow and make it and their family’s life changes that I’m gonna keep doing it. But why would anybody else, if you can get NBA players, G-League players, guys that are 28 years old, guys from Europe — do we really know their transcript? Do we have somebody over there? Do we really know their birth certificate? Or don’t we?”
In Flowers’ case, Calipari was blunt, saying the NCAA has to stop allowing players to join programs mid-season.
While he did say that he feels selfish with his suggestions to the NCAA, Calipari also knows that there are rules that are clearly much different than anywhere else in college sports. He believes some of his suggestions, especially that of not allowing players to join programs mid-season, would benefit the game immediately.

“We can do it without having Congress and the Senate getting 60 votes,” Calipari added. “We can do that. Let them sue us on that stuff.”
Calipari’s Razorbacks are currently ranked No. 18 in the AP Top 25, with Arizona sitting at No. 1 overall with a 13-0 record. Arkansas is 10-3 on the season.
A judge quietly ordered the eviction of reality TV star Denise Richards and her estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, from their California home after the two failed to respond to their landlord’s lawsuit.
Landlord John Karan sued the estranged couple in November, accusing the pair of failing to pay $84,000 in rent.
Richards and Phypers lost their Calabasas home in the simplest way possible – by not showing up. Richards and Phypers were properly served but failed to answer or appear within the legal deadline, leading the court to award exclusive possession of the home to Karan.

According to the lawsuit, the couple was seven months behind on payments for a luxury Calabasas home they leased in 2020. Phypers and Richards signed a lease for the six-bedroom, 6,985-square-foot home for $12,000 a month.
Karan initially asked the judge to evict the former couple and order daily damages of $400 until the home was vacated and the keys were returned.
Richards has not lived at the property since 2023, after moving into her own residence.
However, the reality TV star reportedly continued to pay the bills while Phypers and his family remained in the home.
Phypers has allegedly been begging friends for money as he attempts to navigate the financial distress. “My financial situation gets worse by the day,” he wrote in the documents filed in his divorce from Richards. “My pickup truck, which is now my only vehicle, is subject to repossession. I am in danger of eviction at any time. I am begging friends for money to have food to eat.”

Richards and Phypers have been locked in their own legal battle as the pair are on their way to finalizing a divorce. Phypers filed for divorce from Richards on July 7. He cited irreconcilable differences and is seeking spousal support from the “Real Housewives” star. Ten days later, Richards’ initial request for a temporary restraining order was granted.
The “Melrose Place” star’s request for a permanent restraining order was granted in November.

The permanent restraining order expires on Nov. 7, 2030. Richards requested the permanent restraining order against her estranged husband after he allegedly shared private text messages and photos of the former “Real Housewives” star online.
“It’s pretty classic domestic violence from my perspective,” the judge said while handing down the ruling. “I think that it’s really pretty clear that you can’t take private things and throw them out into the world like that without potential consequences. There can’t possibly be a defense that her peace can’t be disturbed because she had an OF page and did Playboy. That’s not a defense.”

Phypers was also arrested in court on spousal abuse charges stemming from two separate incidents in 2017 and 2022, according to documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

Fans were left surprised by Billy Bob Thornton’s full-frontal nude scene in “Landman.”
Thornton’s goods were on display in Sunday night’s episode after his character, Tommy, accidentally exposed himself a hotel waitress. He woke up as she was attempting to deliver food to the room, setting up a room service tray by the bed. When she saw he was naked from the waist down, she yelled, “Don’t rape me!”
“Who the f— are you?” he asked her. “I’m not gonna rape you.”
“Put your d— away,” his wife, played by Ali Larter, said. “Don’t be scared, darling. That wasn’t about you. He eats Cialis like M&Ms, runs into door jambs all morning with that thing. So sorry about that.”

“I was trying to surprise you with breakfast in bed… That is not the best angle of your b—s—, I might add,” she said. “I’d scream too.”
“You know, you really gotta love a man to look at him from there,” she continued, mocking her husband for exposing himself below the belt. “Poor thing, if she wasn’t a lesbian when she walked in here, she’s a f—ing lesbian now.”

Fans of the show had mixed reactions on social media.
“Why is Billy Bob Thornton pitching a tent on my tv screen?” one user wrote on X.
“I mean how much must you run out of plot ideas if you have to resort to showing d—? There’s already been plenty of a– but now we need d— apparently,” a user commented on Reddit.
“I have some time free for a few months and was thinking of getting a job in a hotel but seeing that I am definitely not gonna do that anymore,” another added.
But others seemed unbothered by the scene.
“First opening scene of new episode of #landman was priceless. Too funny,” one fan wrote on X.
“I know this is an unpopular opinion but I actually really like Angela. I love the Tommy and Angela relationship. I’m sorry,” another X user wrote.
“Episode 7 of season 2 of #landman is the greatest television I’ve seen in my life, I’m calling it right now,” another said.

Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” is based on the podcast “Boomtown.” The show chronicles the Permian Basin oil boom in West Texas that took place in the early 2010s, fueled by advances in oil drilling technology.
At the center of the show is Billy Bob Thornton’s character — Tommy Norris. Thornton portrays a “landman,” a crisis manager working for an oil company called M-Tex.
The show also stars Demi Moore, Jon Hamm, Jacob Lofland and Michelle Randolph.

College football’s latest season fueled plenty of heated debates — and now scandals.
In recent days, much of the chatter has centered on the College Football Playoff committee’s selection for this year’s 12-team playoff. But debates around that topic were quickly put on the back burner when news surfaced that Michigan had fired head football coach Sherrone Moore.
The university said an investigation found there was sufficient evidence that Moore engaged in an “inappropriate relationship with a staff member.” The announcement was a stunning end to Moore’s short, up-and-down tenure that saw the Wolverines take a step back on the field after winning the national championship and being punished by the NCAA.

“This conduct constitutes a clear violation of university policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior,” school officials said in a statement.
Later, Moore was booked into the Washtenaw County Jail as police in Pittsfield conducted an assault investigation.
Moore’s dismissal left much of the college football world stunned.
Here’s a look at how former college players, fans and other observers reacted to the shocking developments.
Former Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones weighed in, suggesting the decision to remove Moore was a sign that Michigan “finally” adhered to “some standards.”
Other social media users referenced Lane Kiffin, whose decision to bolt from Ole Miss to LSU drew mixed, but nonetheless passionate reactions across the sports landscape.
The Detroit Free Press reported that former LSU coach Brian Kelly is not expected to draw interest from Michigan during its coaching search.
The announcement did not include details of the alleged relationship. Moore, who is married with three young daughters, has not yet commented on his dismissal.

The 39-year-old Moore was 9-3 this year after going 8-5 in his debut season.
He signed a five-year contract with a base annual salary of $5.5 million last year. According to the terms of his deal, the university will not have to buy out the remaining years of Moore’s contract because he was fired for cause.

Following the news of the police investigation, the University of Michigan Athletic Department told Fox News Digital it “cannot comment on personnel matters” and had “nothing to share beyond the initial statement.”

The Campbell’s Co. said Tuesday it has placed one of its executives on leave while it investigates claims that he made racist comments and mocked the company’s products and customers in an audio recording.
Martin Bally, Campbell’s vice president of information technology, was named in a lawsuit filed last week by Robert Garza, a former Campbell’s employee. The lawsuit was filed in Michigan, where both men live. Campbell’s is headquartered in New Jersey.
In the lawsuit, Garza claimed he met with Bally in November 2024 to discuss his salary. During the meeting, which Garza allegedly recorded, Bally described Campbell’s as “highly process(ed) food” and said it was for “poor people.”
Garza claimed that Bally made racist remarks about Indian workers, whom he called “idiots,” according to the lawsuit. Garza said Bally also told him that he often went to work high after consuming marijuana edibles.
Garza said he told his manager, J.D. Aupperle, on Jan. 10 that he wanted to report Bally’s comments to Campbell’s human resources department. Garza said Aupperle didn’t encourage him to report the comments but also gave him no advice on how to proceed.
On Jan. 30, Garza was terminated from Campbell’s. He is seeking monetary damages from Campbell’s. He also names Bally and Aupperle in the lawsuit, saying they were responsible for his termination.
In its statement Tuesday, Campbell’s said that if the comments on the audio recording were in fact made by Bally, they are unacceptable.
“Such language does not reflect our values and the culture of our company,” the company said. “We do not tolerate that kind of language under any circumstances.”
Campbell’s added that the comments were allegedly made by someone in IT “who has nothing to do with how we make our food.”
“We are proud of the food we make, the people who make it and the high-quality ingredients we use to provide consumers with good food at a good value,” Campbell’s said. “The comments heard on the recording about our food are not only inaccurate — they are patently absurd.”
Guy Fieri says Thanksgiving can be affordable and shares how families can cut costs to celebrate the holiday on a budget.
Fieri highlighted that many Thanksgiving dish staples can be found at affordable prices. The celebrity chef opened up about the best holiday recipes and cocktails, using his Santo Tequila, in an interview with Fox News Digital.
“Thanksgiving, if you really think about it, is probably one of the more affordable holidays to cook for,” Fieri said.
“Leftover bread is stuffing. Sweet potatoes, pretty darn cheap. Mashed potatoes, really cheap,” he noted. “Turkey, not cheap, but not prime rib.”

Fieri offered practical advice for families looking to cook for smaller gatherings. The “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” host suggested an easy and affordable alternative to a whole turkey.
“…if people are really trying to get by, let’s say that they’re doing a Thanksgiving, and it’s a party of four — It’s the family of four. You could go and buy turkey breasts by themselves, skin-on, bone-in,” Fieri continued. “Liberally season them, dry-brine them a day ahead of time, let them rest in the fridge, roast them off in the oven or put them in the smoker.”
“It’s probably one of the most straightforward, easy pieces of protein to cook.”

Fieri also noted that “cooking is timing.”
“So what I think the best thing for people to do is — A, throughout the year, if you could try some things out, you know, everybody loves stuffing. Stuffing doesn’t have to just be for Christmas. Everybody loves green beans, green bean casserole doesn’t have to be just for Christmas. Everybody loves Brussels sprouts, doesn’t have to be… just for the holidays. So I think that testing ahead of time is great.”

Outside of sharing Thanksgiving recipe inspiration, Fieri also recommended a festive holiday cocktail featuring his Santo Tequila. He launched the spirits brand in 2017 alongside Sammy Hagar.

Fieri encouraged people to take a moment to reflect on the deeper meaning behind their Thanksgiving toast this year.
“…I want to make sure that when everybody gives that toast, and everybody celebrates and is gathered with their family and their friends, they’re rejoicing on how blessed we are — remember how we got here,” he told Fox News Digital. “There’s a lot of men, women, and their families that made the ultimate sacrifice to make us a free country and to keep us a country. So the free opportunity you have to celebrate whatever religion you celebrate, whatever method of celebrating you have, whatever food you wanna eat — you live in this country because a lot of people, generations and generations before us, made the sacrifice. To give us this country.”
“So when you give that toast and thank everybody at your family, make sure you’re giving that toast to the people you don’t even know that gave you the opportunity to live in a free country and have an opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving”.

As for what ends up on the Fieri family Thanksgiving table, the celebrity chef said there’s one thing he has to do to keep his wife happy.
“We will definitely smoke a turkey. We have a high expectation from my wife that we have white turkey meat left over for turkey sandwiches on Friday. I mean, that’s a staple,” he said. “Like, I don’t wanna tell you about the time that someone forgot the turkey outside and the dogs got to it. There was no turkey.”
“So, I always just make enough turkey. So, we’ll do a full turkey, just for the nice presentation done the right way. Do a couple turkey breasts, just so we have extra white meat left over. Then we’ll smoke a turkey because everybody loves smoked turkey… And we’ll also do a ham. We have a big, we have a tall order.”
Fieri said his family starts prepping well ahead of Thanksgiving day because he doesn’t “like to be under the gun and have it be a big hassle on Thursday, on Thanksgiving. I try to walk the finish line.”
