An alternative to costly rental car toll programs, Visitor Toll Pass™ is a free temporary toll pass for rental car customers traveling roundtrip through the airport.

    With Visitor Toll Pass, drivers always pay the lowest toll rate throughout Florida with no hidden or extra fees, saving as much as 80% compared to rental car toll programs.

    Reservations can be made from anywhere in minutes by downloading the free Visitor Toll Pass app on Google Play and the Apple App Store, following easy on-screen instructions and providing trip and rental car information. When setting up a Visitor Toll Pass™ reservation on the app, customers can enable notifications to receive trip and toll activity updates and notices. 

    Visitors can pick up their pass at any of the six locations in MCO’s Terminal A, B or C and will need to decline the rental car company’s toll program. Next, Visitor Toll Pass customers just add their rental car license plate number in the app, hang it on the rental car rearview mirror and leave the airport ready for non-stop travel. At the end of their trip, customers simply return the toll pass to one of 14 return drop boxes located throughout the airport. All tolls will be billed to the customer’s credit card associated with the pass with no additional fees or charges.

    MTA holds final public hearings on congestion pricing before plan goes into effect

    NEW YORK (WABC) — Representatives from New Jersey and the MTA are back in court to try to come to a resolution over the state’s lawsuit in opposition to congestion pricing.

    Getting close but not quite there yet is how the negotiations are described involving that lawsuit.

    Wednesday, there will be a mandatory settlement conference in Newark between New Jersey and the MTA to see if the lawsuit the state filed can be resolved.

    There’s also a separate case before a federal judge in New York pending.

    Congestion pricing, which would charge most drivers $15 to drive below 60th Street, is still set to begin mid-June.

    But now, Mayor Eric Adams has come out saying while he doesn’t have reservations, there needs to be more exemptions than there are currently, including for city workers using their own vehicles.

    His administration also working on an exemption for yellow school buses.

    Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is also sharing his thoughts in an op-ed for the NY Post, saying yes he approved congestion pricing back in 2019, but thinks it needs to be paused altogether now. He said it needs to come at a time when people feel safe riding the subway and:

    “What impact will an additional $15 entry surcharge have on New York City’s recovery in this moment – when the migrant crisis, crime, homelessness, quality of life and taxes are all pressing problems?”

    There is a hearing scheduled for early April in the New Jersey lawsuit and a judge is expected to rule before the planned start date.

    The MTA hasn’t changed course.

    Toll addition to Capital Boulevard floated as way to fund improvements to busy Raleigh road

    RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) — The City of Raleigh is looking to improve road conditions on Capital Boulevard, but could hit a roadblock when it comes to funding.

    One idea that has been floated to get the money in place is putting a toll road on the major roadway.

    On January 17, NCDOT received a formal request from the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) to study the potential use of tolling on Capital Boulevard/U.S. 1 to accelerate the project of converting the road to a freeway between I-540 in Raleigh and Wake Forest, including widening the road to 6-8 lanes.

    NCDOT is now evaluating next steps in the process but has not advocated for a particular path forward.

    NCDOT said the NC Turnpike Authority will likely need to be involved in the process since tolling has been put forward as a possible feature.

    Turning the road into a fully tolled expressway would likely require legislative changes. Adding tolled express lanes would likely not require legislative changes.

    NCDOT has not released a timeline on how long all of this will take.

    This recent proposal comes as a portion of Capital Boulevard is already being widened.

    Transportation officials believe it will solve problems by reducing accidents and cutting down on commute times. They say this is needed to keep up with growth.

    The project will cost nearly $750 million. The groundbreaking is not expected until 2025 for the first phase of the project.

    Westport RTM Member and State Representative candidate Greg Kraut (R-136) today called on the State Bonding Commission to reject Governor Malloy’s request for a $10m Toll Study that the elected legislature has already turned down and enact a Bond Moratorium for non-essential items for the rest of this calendar year.

    “Gov. Malloy and his majority party have had 8 years to properly deal with our Transportation crisis. Borrowing $10m for a Tolling Study in the last 6 months of the administration is a complete waste of taxpayers’ money and at this point we must have a Bond Moratorium until the end of the calendar year,” Kraut stated.

    Connecticut has the highest net tax-supported debt per capita of any U.S. state at $6,505. Connecticut’s net tax-supported debt per capita was the highest of any state, according to a Moody’s Investors Service report last year. The figure has grown from $5,185 in Moody’s 2013 report.

    “We need to implore the State Bonding Committee to finally cut Governor Malloy’s maxed out Credit card. This type of tax and spend failed fiscal policies has led to debt which is strangling our state and municipalities. Our ratio of indebtedness to the statutory debt limit is approaching 90 percent. State Statutes require the Governor to review unissued bond authorizations and recommend that the General Assembly repeal authorizations to bring the ratio below 90 percent,” Kraut stated.

    According to Bloomberg, Connecticut only complicated its own problems. It has been downgraded three times in as many years by S&P Global Ratings, had a fiscal 2017 net pension liability of $37.2 billion (up almost $10 billion from a year ago) and easily has the most tax-supported debt per resident among U.S. states. On top of all that, it has the fewest jobs in finance, insurance and real estate since 1996.

    “I would not want to be his personal credit card company when he leaves office nor would I want to be the CFO of his next job, unfortunately, he has left us with debt that our children may not be able to pay back,” Kraut said.
