After three awards shows, all in Los Angeles, Hollywood’s A-list is heading across the pond. Yes, it’s time for the BAFTAs, the annual ceremony that honors the best in British and international cinema. Presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, the BAFTAs are once again taking place at Royal Festival Hall in London’s Southbank Centre tonight, Feb. 22, but with a new host. This year, Alan Cumming is taking over duties from David Tennant, who hosted the ceremony for the past two years.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another netted the most nominations at 14, followed by Ryan Coogler’s Sinners with 13 and Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet and Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme, tied with 11 nods each. Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothée Chalamet and Michael B. Jordan are all up for Best Actor, while Kate Hudson, Jessie Buckley and Emma Stone are among the stars nominated for Best Actress. Along with the celeb-studded roster of nominees, the slate of presenters is equally impressive, including Aaron Pierre, Aimee Lou Wood, Alicia Vikander, Alia Bhatt, Bryan Cranston, Cillian Murphy, David Jonsson, Delroy Lindo, Emily Watson, Erin Doherty, Ethan Hawke, Gillian Anderson, Glenn Close, Hannah Waddingham, Karen Gillan, Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Kerry Washington, Little Simz, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Mia McKenna-Bruce, Michael B. Jordan, Miles Caton, Milly Alcock, Minnie Driver, Monica Bellucci, Noah Jupe, Olivia Cooke, Patrick Dempsey, Regé-Jean Page, Riz Ahmed, Sadie Sink, Stellan Skarsgård, Stormzy and Warwick Davis.

But before the best and brightest in film head into Royal Festival Hall, they’ll walk the always-glamorous BAFTAs red carpet in their most dazzling sartorial ensembles. Last year’s red carpet did not disappoint, with highlights including Cynthia Erivo in Louis Vuitton, Mikey Madison in Prada, Monica Barbaro in Armani Privé and Lupita Nyong’o in Chanel—all custom, of course. So let’s get ready for the 2026 iteration—below, see all the best and most exciting fashion moments from this year’s BAFTAs red carpet.

Is Victoria Monét Dating Rapper Stormzy Following Split From John Gaines? Here’s What Report Says

    [ad_1]

Romance is in the air for Victoria Monét weeks after she announced her split from former partner John Gaines. She was recently spotted sharing a romantic moment with British rapper Stormzy at London’s Heathrow Airport.

As per People, the On My Mama singer can be seen kissing Stormzy at the London airport in photos captured by The Sun. The duo was spotted spending quality time in each other’s embrace as per the outlet. These PDA-filled moments came not long after Monét disclosed her divorce from Gaines with whom she has a three-year-old daughter Hazel. Meanwhile, Stormzy and Maya Jama announced separation three months ago.

The last time fans heard from Monét and Gaines together was when they revealed their separation on September 23rd. They came on their social media where they shared that they were no longer together. In the announcement, they made it clear that their relationship was over for 10 months now, but they remained silent until they faced questions about their relationship and “extremely false accusations” about their origin story.

In the joint statement, the former couple cleared the air stating, “We spent the last 10 months trying to respectfully and privately navigate the fact that we are no longer in a relationship. Though we still completely adore and respect each other, we are not a couple anymore. There was no infidelity, toxic behavior or drama.”

The couple promised their followers that they still had each other’s love, care, and respect, putting co-parenting Hazel at the core of their interactions. Their love was over, but they accepted what had happened.

Monét and Gaines went on to add how they needed to focus on personal growth embarking on separate journeys to be the best versions for their daughter, Hazel. They wrote, “It simply didn’t work out and that’s okay. We still think the world of each other and operate with love in every interaction for our family. We have an incredible daughter to raise for life and that is undoubtedly our number 1 priority forever.”

Meanwhile, similarly, Stormzy and Maya Jama had informed their fans via social media about their breakup in July. The couple in their 30s previously dated between 2014 and 2019 and went back together in 2022. They said in their joint statement that they made every effort to rekindle their relationship but in the end, it did not work out.

Analysis: ‘Welcome to Chippendales’ strips down a true crime origin story | CNN

    CNN
     —

Gratitude. That’s the word and exactly how I feel.

I am beyond grateful to you all. I asked about how you might like to see this newsletter reshaped, and you answered. So in the coming weeks, we shall be switching things up and putting a little meat on the bone.

Speaking of, whether turkey is your thing or not, I will not hold you long with this week’s edition to give us all more time to enjoy holiday time.

Here are some tasty content offerings for you – not literally, but you know where I’m heading with this.

    ‘Welcome to Chippendales’

Bless us, but we do love our stripper content.

This new limited series, starring Kumail Nanjiani and Murray Bartlett, among others, also doubles as a true crime tale.

Inspired by the book “Deadly Dance: The Chippendales Murders,” it tells the story of “an Indian immigrant who became the unlikely founder of the world’s greatest male-stripping empire – and let nothing stand in his way in the process,” per a Hulu press release.

Let me grab my dollar bills now, because the first two episodes of “Welcome to Chippendales” are streaming now.

    ‘Fantasy Football’

From left: Marsai Martin and Omari Hardwick in a scene from

I recently had the opportunity to hang out with some of the stars of this film (we missed you, Kelly Rowland) and its director, Anton Cropper – and trust me, they are excited about it.

In the movie, Marsai Martin stars as the daughter of a professional footballer, played by Omari Hardwick, whose career has meant his family moves around often. But after she and her parents (the aforementioned Hardwick and Kelly Rowland) land in Atlanta when he gets a gig with the Atlanta Falcons, things change in, well, fantastical ways.

“Fantasy Football” is a good escape for the whole family. It’s streaming on Paramount+ now.

    ‘The Croods: Family Tree’

    A scene from Hulu's

Speaking of family-friendly content, it’s time for another season with our favorite prehistoric cave dwellers – the titular Croods (and the Bettermans) are back for more animated adventures.

This season includes family retreats, cookouts, treasure hunts and a long lost love found frozen in a block of ice. If it sounds like a lot, it is – a lot of fun!

Season 5 is streaming now on Hulu.

Stormzy performs during the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards on November 13 in Duesseldorf, Germany.

There’s not a ton of new albums being released between now and the end of the year, but if you are interested in learning about grime music, I have something for you.

Grime is a British genre of hip-hop/electronic music, and Stormzy is one of its best-known stars.

His latest album, “This Is What I Mean,” is his first in three years.

An activist and a philanthropist on top of his musical chops, there’s been some debate over whether Stormzy had lost some ‘street cred’ thanks to his cross-over appeal, which has included working with popstars like Ed Sheeran and the girl group Little Mix. Others, however, argue he’s breaking important boundaries:

“Stormzy is the perfect person to be in that mainstream conversation. Everyone loves him: the kids love him, the old ladies in shops love him,” Joseph Patterson, editor-in-chief of the culture website Complex UK told The Guardian. “There isn’t anyone else that can really do what Stormzy does.”

“This Is What I Mean” is out now.

    'The Assignment with Audie Cornish'

And with less new music to fill your playlists, take the opportunity to get your podcast on. We have a great new series here at CNN in the form of “The Assignment with Audie Cornish.” With new episodes releasing weekly on hot topics like school boards and the sex work economy, Cornish curates insightful conversations with thought leaders and “people who live the headlines,” tapping into the zeitgeist and telling the full story, no holds barred.

The first two episodes of “The Assignment with Audie Cornish” are available now.

From left: Helen Mirren; Liam Neeson.

Just when we thought we couldn’t admire Dame Helen Mirren more, we are reminded of the great love she shared with Liam Neeson.

The pair dated decades ago, and though they went their separate ways, Mirren spoke warmly of Neeson in a recently published AARP interview.

“We loved each other. We were not meant to be together in that way, but we loved each other very, very much,” she said. “I love him deeply to this day. He’s such an amazing guy.”

    Can you say ex-couple goals?

Jay Leno (center) is pictured with staff at The Grossman Burn Center on November 21 in Los Angeles.

Medical professionals are our unsung heroes.

While they may no longer be getting the well-deserved love and attention they did during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, I’m glad to see Jay Leno highlighting them following his recent stay at the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles.

Leno suffered “serious burns” from a gasoline fire while working under a car earlier this month. Let’s not even talk about how many Hollywood stars would never allow themselves to be photographed with burn injuries, but know that the 72-year-old knows quite well the power of celebrity – and that his photo with the care team would be a wonderful tribute to those who have been helping him heal.

Add all of our first responders and medical personnel to the list of those to be thankful for.

Taylor Swift wins big in Germany at the MTV EMAs

    [ad_1]

DUSSELDORF, Germany — Taylor Swift won big at Sunday’s MTV EMAs. Swift who led the nominations along with Harry Styles with seven a piece, walked away with four wins for ‘Best Artist,’ ‘Best Video,’ ‘Best Pop’ and ‘Best Longform Video.’

Currently topping the charts with ‘Anti-Hero’ from her record breaking new album ‘Midnights,’ Swift made a surprise appearance at the awards in Dusseldorf to collect her haul, the latest in a long line of accolades for the singer-songwriter. Accepting her first award of the night she said “the fans are the only reason any of this happens for me.”

David Guetta and Bebe Rexha opened the show with their hit collaboration ‘I’m Good (Blue),’ a track that nearly didn’t get released.

Rexha explained on the carpet “we had no idea that it was gonna blow up and be so viral on TikTok. And here we are performing it and nominated for ‘Best Collab.’”

Hot on their toes were Muse who returned to the EMAs for a fiery performance of ‘Will of the People,’ later winning ‘Best Rock’ act. They dedicated their award to the people of Ukraine and the women of Iran.

This year’s show was hosted by newlyweds Rita Ora and Taika Waititi. Ora didn’t disappoint with a host of outfit changes and Waititi joked he was channeling his inner popstar.

An absent Nicki Minaj also came out on top with a trio of prizes for ‘Best Song,’ ‘Super Freaky Girl’ and ‘Best Hip Hop’. Styles, who is currently touring in the US, won ‘Best Live’.

Following their Eurovision win in May, Ukrainian band Kalush Orchestra gave one of the most powerful and moving performances of the night, turning the auditorium blue and yellow in support of Ukraine. Talking on the red carpet frontman Oleg Psyuk explained that with their new found fame they could support and spread awareness of the plight of the Ukrainian people

“It’s important for us to be a voice of Ukraine, to have opportunity to be all over the world, to perform and to say about Ukraine, to say about war, to say about our culture, culture that fights against war.”

British rapper Stormzy performed ballad ‘Fire Babe,’ released this week from his highly anticipated third album ‘This is What I Mean.’

OneRepublic performed their ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ tune ‘I Ain’t Worried,’ with a special video intro from the man himself, Tom Cruise, which they said wasn’t easy to get.

Other performers on the night included Ava Max who sparkled in a giant diamond singing ‘Million Dollar Baby’ and Tate McRae who performed a medley of her hits, ‘she’s all i wanna be’ and ‘uh oh.’

Voted for by the fans 17 gender-neutral categories were announced during the evening. The show, broadcast from the PSD Bank Dome will be shown in more than 170 countries.
