The 2026 Winter Olympics are taking place in Italy this year, with all the action taking place in Milan and the Alpine city of Cortina. This year marks the fourth time Italy has hosted the Winter Games; most recently, Turin hosted in 2006. Of the 16 sports that will be featured at the Winter Olympics, there will be 15 returning favorites, including figure skating, Alpine skiing, curling, ice hockey, speedskating, snowboarding, freestyle skiing and ski jumping, and one entirely new sport, snow mountaineering. (Will it be as big a hit as the 2024 Summer Games’ new addition, breaking? It remains to be seen.)

Live coverage of every event at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 will be available to stream on Peacock — though thanks to the time difference between Italy and the U.S., to watch many of the events live, you’ll have to wake up (or stay up) until 2AM or 3AM ET. Primetime replays and select live coverage will air on NBC. The games officially kick off with the opening ceremony on Feb. 6, 2026.

Maybe it’s just my imagination, but I feel like the minute that fall weather comes back around in New York City, Blake Lively and Taylor Swift turn on, getting photographed together all the time in effortless autumnal looks that I always want to copy for the entirety of the season. And this year is hardly an exception. In the last few weeks, we’ve seen tons of the two best friends, and just as they always do, both have been showing up in outfits worthy of pressing Control + C on.

Their latest sighting came when the duo was photographed leaving Bradley Cooper’s apartment on Thursday, with Lively and Swift going their separate ways afterward. It was at that moment of separation that I noticed just how good the Gossip Girl actress’s chunky cardigan was—and just how much I needed one for my own wardrobe. Specifically, she wore an oat-colored, shawl-neck cardigan sweater with a matching tee, baggy jeans, UGG slippers from the brand’s collaboration with Opening Ceremony, and a denim Chanel flap bag.

Though I’ve unfortunately been unable to ID her exact knit—I get the feeling that it was stolen from Ryan Reynolds’s side of the closet—I did find a $140 Banana Republic alt that’ll more than get the job done. Shop it and more fall cardigans below.

FIFA World Cup 2022 opening ceremony: Event starts with Arabian theme; Jungkook performs new song ‘Dreamers’

FIFA World Cup 2022 kicked off in Qatar, on Sunday, with a grand opening ceremony that saw international celebrities perform. The event started with American actor Morgan Freeman’s dulcet voice and an Arabian theme with camels.

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani arrived at the stadium flanked by FIFA president Gianni Infantino to a roaring crowd. Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was also present at the opening ceremony and inaugural match of the tournament.

The opening show also saw the performance of a new tournament song called ‘Dreamers’ featuring singer Jungkook of K-pop boy band BTS, alongside Qatari singer Fahad Al-Kubaisi. Interestingly, Qatar is also the smallest nation to host soccer’s biggest global event. Crowd control will be key with some 1.2 million visitors expected – more than a third of its population.

A ban on sale of beer was imposed two days before the opening ceremony of the World Cup.However, at the FIFA Fan Festival in central Doha, visitors were seen sipping beers. But the conditions outside the city’s edges were different as hundreds of workers gathered in a sports arena in an industrial zone, without alcohol.

Thousands of attendees were turned away from a Saturday night concert in the official fan zone because of overcrowding. According to the reports, around 1.2 million visitors are expected to begin arriving this week in the tiny nation on the Arabian Peninsula.

Qatar – which is home to 3 million people, mostly migrant workers – has spent more than $200 billion on improvements across the country for the tournament. Among the additions are seven new purpose-built venues, including the 60,000-seat Al Bayt Stadium that hosted Sunday’s opening ceremony and the first match.
