    Wayve, the self-driving car firm set to launch robotaxis on UK roads, has raised 1.5 billion US dollars (£1.1 billion) from investors including UberMicrosoft and chip giant Nvidia. It has secured 1.2 billion dollars (£890 million) through a funding round backed by the major tech firms, institutional investors and car makers, with Uber investing extra funds to help deliver its driverless taxi plans.     Gucci is facing a backlash after using AI to generate images to promote its forthcoming show at Milan Fashion Week. The images have been posted on social media – where users have questioned how using AI instead of human models and photographers is in keeping with the fashion house’s claim that it celebrates “creativity and Italian craftsmanship.” “Bleak days when Gucci can’t find a real human Milanese grandmother to wear an outfit from 1976,” said one in response to an AI-generated image of a glamourous older Italian woman,  in a classic Gucci outfit.     Analyst firm Gartner thinks talk of placing datacenters in space has reached “peak insanity,” because orbiting facilities can’t be run economically or satisfy demand for compute power on Earth. “Datacenters in space won’t analyze data on Earth for Earth applications for decades, if ever,” states a report published this week titled “Orbital Datacenters Won’t Serve Terrestrial Needs, So Focus on Earth,” penned by distinguished VP analyst Bill Ray.“Companies are wasting money by pouring funds into the orbital data center ‘bubble’ because the economics do not work,” the analyst wrote.     The Dark Sky weather app, with its ultra regional forecasts and rain-stopping predictions, was the best I’ve ever used – until Apple acquired it, integrated into Apple Weather app for iPhone and then shut it down. At the time, the team behind the app joined Apple to ease the transition. Now they’re back on the scene hoping to fill the void left behind by the standalone Dark Sky app. The new iPhone app (which will come to Android eventually) is called Acme Weather.     For years, the conversation around online safety centred on the “stranger danger” of chat rooms. However, a new risk has now emerged: the AI chatbot’s simulated empathy. New research from Vodafone reveals the scale of this shift. According to its study of 11-16-year-olds, a staggering 81% are now using AI chatbots. Most concerning to experts, however, is the emotional weight these interactions carry. Nearly a third (31%) of these young users feel the bot is an actual friend and 33% have shared secrets with an AI that they wouldn’t tell their parents, teachers, or even their closest human peers.   • Luxury watch con ends with McLean man sentenced to nearly two years in federal prison – WTOP News

    A McLean resident used multiple American Express accounts that bilked the credit card company and Harrods out of more than $1.2 million in luxury watches.

    A McLean, Virginia, resident was sentenced Thursday to a year and nine months in federal prison for mail fraud after prosecutors say he carried out a sprawling luxury watch scam.

    Jaivin Raj Karnani, 45, used multiple American Express accounts — including two cards under his mother’s name, according to court documents — that bilked the credit card company and a famed London retailer out of more than $1.2 million in luxury watches.

    “This case demonstrates how the abuse of consumer-protection systems inflicts widespread financial harm — driving up costs, eroding trust and burdening honest businesses,” Lindsey Halligan, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, said in a statement.

    Prosecutors said Karnani used American Express cards to buy watches from Harrods Limited, the iconic London department store known for its upscale brands.

    But, once the watches were delivered to his McLean home, Karnani falsely reported to American Express that he never received them, all in order to trigger credit card disputes and erase the charges.

    Karnani placed orders under his own name, as well as under aliases like “Quinn Bash” and “Steve Johnson,” and then tried to resell the watches to luxury dealers in Michigan and New York, prosecutors said.

    How the scam unfolded

    Between late 2022 and mid-2024, federal authorities said Karnani falsely charged roughly $1,280,648 worth of luxury watches — including brands like Rolex, Gucci, Omega, Chanel, Tudor and Porsche Design.

    After disputing the charges with American Express, the disputes ultimately led to more than $850,000 in losses for the credit card company and more than $426,000 in losses for Harrods.

    The scheme also included an abuse of the charge-back process tied to legal fees, which prosecutors said later resulted in civil judgments against Karnani.

    In addition to his federal prison sentence, Karnani must forfeit the full amount of the fraudulent purchases — $1,280,647.99 — and 23 luxury watches seized from his McLean residence, officials said.

  • At the LACMA Art+Film Gala, Demna Hosts Hollywood

    This mix of celebrity and art royalty aside, the gala is a bellwether for the world-conquering ambitions of LACMA, and raised a record-breaking $6.8 million to centralize film in the museum’s programming, and fund its mission at large. LACMA has long wanted to go toe-to-toe with its East Coast counterparts—namely the Metropolitan Museum of Art—and now it has a showstopper of a building, designed by Swiss architect Peter Zumthor, set to open in April of next year. And LACMA, with this gala, has real showbiz leverage, the support of Hollywood power players. Just look at the host committee, comprised of co-chairs Eva Chow and Leonardo DiCaprio, who were joined by Gucci Artistic Director Demna and Gucci President and CEO Francesca Bellettini.

    But Demna is perhaps is most telling. One of the most influential and controversial fashion designers in the last decade, he reimagined the idea of zeitgeist while at Balenciaga. The Pinault family—who also own Christie’s, and CAA—moved him to Gucci, which is a genius move on a lot of levels but, for our specific purposes here, quite wonderful for this particular event. Demna really likes hanging out with artists. At one point, sculptor and photographer Paul Pfeiffer went over to say hello, and Demna cupped his hands over his heart and said to Pfeiffer: “I love your work.”

    Demna told me he’s restoring a historic architecturally significant home in Los Angeles to live in. He’s also been homing in on the conceptual ideal of Hollywood to situate the narrative of the new Gucci. In lieu of a runway show, he commissioned Spike Jones and Halina Reijn to make The Tiger, a short film starring Demi Moore, Edward Norton, Ed Harris, Elliot Page, Keke Palmer, Alia Shawkat, Julianne Nicholson, Heather Lawless, Ronny Chieng, Kendall Jenner and Alex Consani. The result brought the characters from his “La Famiglia” collection to life.

    And then, to ice that cake, Demna hosted the biggest art museum gala in Tinseltown. It honored Mary Corse, as legendary of the West Coast light and space artists as you can get. James Turrell introduced her—he referred to her as one of his heroes, along with Rothko and Georgia O’Keeffe.

  • The Essentials With Rita Hazan: High-Low Skincare, Anguilla and Working With Beyoncé

    Even if you don’t know Rita Hazan by name, you know her work. The New York City native has been behind the hair color transformations of some of the biggest pop stars since the late ‘90s, from Mariah Carey’s first foray into lighter locks (and eventual blonde makeover) for her 1997 album, Butterfly, to Jennifer Lopez’s post-Selena honey highlights and Katy Perry’s full range of rainbow colors. And then there’s Beyoncé, who first came to Hazan in 2013 and has been working with her ever since.

    But Hazan’s impact in the beauty industry extends far beyond her impressive list of celebrity clients. In the male-dominated field of hair coloring, Hazan carved out her own path: First by developing a coloring technique that defied (and eventually set) trends, then with the opening of her namesake salon and product line. “I didn’t even think about it as a woman; I just really loved doing color,” Hazan tells Observer of what drove her to take risks. After attending beauty school at 17, Hazan immediately went to work at Oribe Canales’ legendary Fifth Avenue salon, where she assisted color director Brad Johns (whose clients famously included Christy Turlington and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy) through much of the ‘90s. “I got promoted, and that’s where I was doing a little bit different hair color. Brad was all about chunky, very golden highlights, and I went the opposite way of that,” Hazan says. “My family background is Egyptian and Jewish, and we like to be blonde, but we don’t like to be goldy,” she adds of what inspired her more seamless approach to blonde color.

    By the early 2000s, Hazan’s work with Mariah Carey, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Simpson had established her as the go-to colorist for pop It girls and up-and-comers alike. “If you wanted to create an image or change your look, you would come to me,” confirms Hazan. All the while, she was still busy at Oribe with her usual clients, one of whom first planted the idea of opening her own salon. “I was like, ‘Who the hell wants that headache?’” Hazan laughs. “But I told my client I’d think about it, and when I went home and said something to my mom, she said, ‘If you want to, just open your own place.’ So I did, and that was it.”

    After establishing her Fifth Avenue salon as the place for A-listers and those in the know, Hazan developed her own product line, which most famously introduced the world to the first root cover-up spray (inspired by and developed for her clients as an at-home solution for grays in between color appointments). But after 20 years in the industry, Hazan was introduced to her most famous client to date: Beyoncé. “About 12 years ago, [hair stylist] Kim Kimble called me and was like, ‘Beyoncé wants to be blonde but her hair keeps turning orange, and I told her, Rita is the only person that’s going to get you the color that you want. Can you do her hair?’” Hazan recalls of the singer’s first visit to her salon. Hazan delivered, and the two have been working together ever since. The colorist is behind every Beyoncé hair look of the past decade, from her bright blonde at the 2015 Met Gala to her more dimensional, “sunwashed” color during the 2023 Renaissance tour.

    “We’ll go back and forth on color ideas, but I’m always making sure it looks good for video and with movement—Beyoncé is flipping her hair and she’s up and down when she’s onstage, so every aspect of her hair has to look beautiful,” Hazan says of their collaboration process. “She also grew up in a hair salon, so she understands what’s possible and what’s not.”

    This fall, Hazan is sharing her coloring expertise through open classes at her salon, now located on the Upper East Side. “I really like educating, and everybody is always asking me about going blonde without it getting damaged or brassy, so I’d like to do classes in the salon that are affordable and open to anybody who wants to come in,” she says. In between creating buttery blonde color for her clients (Hazan’s top trending color for fall), Rita Hazan spoke with Observer about her current essentials—from the red lip that’s become part of her everyday uniform to the at-home hair gloss with results so good, she uses it in the salon.

    There is perhaps no city in the world more closely associated with fashion than Paris. The City of Light was the birthplace of haute couture in the 1800s, and its ever-so-chic history continues to this day. Paris Fashion Week 2025 is upon us, and the most fashionable celebrities, tastemakers, and industry VIPs are flooding the cobblestone streets to take in the shows and parties, see what’s heading down the runway, and be seen in the front row, dressed to the nines.

    This edition of Paris Fashion Week is especially important thanks to a bevy of recent creative director changes, a veritable musical chairs in an industry where people tend to hold onto their jobs at the top for decades at a time. There’s Jonathan Anderson at Dior, of course, and Proenza Schouler co-founders Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez filling his vacant seat at Loewe. Matthieu Blazy took a new job at Chanel, and Demna went from Balenciaga to Gucci, with former Valentino designer Pierpaolo Piccioli taking the reins at Balenciaga. There’s plenty of to see—and gossip about at cocktail parties—at this Fashion Week in particular.

    Paris Fashion Week officially kicked off on September 29, and concludes October 7. From Chanel to Zimmerman, and everything in between, the world’s foremost fashion designers will be showing their latest collections, with the A-List topping their guest lists.

  • Directors Spike Jonze and Halina Reijn On Creating Gucci’s Film, The Tiger

    SJ: The starting point was a call from Demna: he said he would like the film to be about a matriarch and her family. Then he sent us all the photos of the lookbook, all his new clothes worn by models, with all the names of the individual characters—but maybe I would say they are rather archetypes—explaining what the Italian names he gave them meant, like Il Bastardo. He was very precise, but at the same time very open: an approach that made this work very challenging.

    Was it easy to write the script?
    HR: Well, we were certainly a little bit under time pressure, but that pressure made it very fun. We worked in a very different way than usual—it was unique how much artistic freedom we all had.

    What was it like having two people direct a film?
    SJ: First we did a kind of mind meld, a kind of six-week meditation, like 8 hours a day, to foster nonverbal communication. I recommend it for any kind of collaboration.

    Good advice. If you were to write a short synopsis of this film, for example for Wikipedia, what words would you use?
    SJ: I don’t know, I’m not allowed to edit Wikipedia entries.
    HR: I would just use one question, ‘What would you do if you were in a room with a tiger?’

    Here, what would you do in a room with a tiger?
    HR: I can’t answer that, you have to see the movie. What would you do?

    I would negotiate.
    HR: Makes sense: Negotiate to tame it.

    The soundtrack is fantastic. How did you mix such different songs together?
    SJ: When we were writing the film, I created a playlist that I shared with Halina and Demna: the beautiful Italian song, “Guarda che luna,” he found it. You know, a lot of these songs, like “Mood Swings” and “Nosebleeds,” are songs I’m obsessed with, they’re songs I love by two artists I really like, Little Simz and Doechii. The playlist, which was later completed by Cristobal Tapia de Veer, also kind of shaped the story. The whole process was crazy, very fast, almost wild: it’s a 30-minute film, which we edited in three weeks. Usually, it takes much longer. I could almost call it a stream of consciousness: the writing, the shooting, the editing… it was a continuous movement, which we let flow freely, without thinking too much about anything.

    The costumes, of course, are a key part of the film. Did they influence the filming in any way?
    SJ: From an actor’s point of view, I think the wardrobe can define the character in a certain way. When we rehearsed, one of the most beautiful things was to see the outfits in their detail and construction before they were even worn: some of them are incredibly intricate, with all these embroidered beads… I think the costumes helped the actors understand right away and precisely what their characters looked like.

    The Tate Modern Museum in London transformed its concrete basement into lush forest for the latest Gucci runway show yesterday, and one of the stars to attend was actress Demi Moore. And she didn’t come alone! She brought Pilaf. If you’re lost, Pilaf is Demi Moore’s dog and a regular wherever Moore goes.

    Moore wore a sexy, sheer slip dress to the Gucci Cruise 2025 presentation, which she paired with black boots, a black coat, and an olive green scarf with a gold hardware choker necklace. The bodice of the dress was made of lace, with Moore’s black bra underneath. The skirt of the dress was a mosaic netted fabric that kind of gives the illusion of a houndstooth pattern.

    And of course, as we mentioned, Demi Moore’s outfits are never complete without her chihuahua, Pilaf. This isn’t the first time Moore has gone out in public with her dog. It’s not even the first time she brought her to a high fashion runway show. She brought her to Milan earlier this year in February to the Versace runway presentation. Pilaf seems to have come into Moore’s life in early 2022 based on this Instagram posted in February 2022 of Pilaf as a puppy. Since then, Moore has brought her beloved dog to runway shows, tennis matches, and doctors’ appointments. Pilaf even attended a Madonna concert with Moore. Moore is often carrying Miss Pilaf in a sling close to her chest or in Moore’s arms, clutched to her torso.

    Other A-listers in attendance at the Gucci show were Solange Knowles, Paul Mescal, Dua Lipa, Andrew Scott, Daisy Edgar Jones, Alexa Chung and more. The collection was creative directed by designer Sabato De Sarno. The collection featured a lot of monochrome looks in bright colors. It played with textures and fabric transparency.

    A Los Angeles smash-and-grab theft crew targeting Prada, Versace, Gucci and other high-end stores across California have been arrested by an LAPD task force and charged with 27 felonies, the state’s attorney general announced Tuesday.

    Atty. Gen. Rob Bonta said the trio is accused of stealing more than $300,000 worth of merchandise in Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Los Angeles, the Bay Area and San Diego. Bonta said the ringleader of the crew faces up to 35 years in prison if convicted of all the charges related to smash and grabs from December 2022 until last month.

    “To be clear, this isn’t about a couple of one-off instances of a shoplifted Louis Vuitton wallet or swiped a pair of Prada sunglasses. This was organized. These were organized burglaries and attempted burglaries where suspects would rip the bags off the displays, even when the products were secured to displays with locks,” Bonta said, speaking at LAPD headquarters.

    Workers at Burberry, Prada, Sunglass Hut, Louis Vuitton, Bottega Veneta, Michael Kors, Gucci, Coach, Versace, and Maison Margiela were put at risk by the bandits, who allegedly shoved aside store workers as they snatched designer clothes and accessories, he said.

    “These aren’t victimless crimes,” Bonta said, alleging that the suspects sometimes used force against workers as they ran out of a store. “Other times they overwhelmed the stores with large numbers of people in disguise brazenly ransacking high-end products,” he added. “If you steal from our businesses and put people in harm’s way, if you try to make an easy buck off of other people’s hard work, we will prosecute it as we are today.”

    Bonta said the Los Angeles Police Department organized retail theft task force identified the crew behind the smash and grabs across six counties. The charges carry the possibility of decades of imprisonment, he said, which should send a message to others doing or considering such crimes.

    A string of flash mob robberies of luxury goods stores around Los Angeles last summer drew national attention, with video clips showing group’s running out of stores. Mayor Karen Bass responded by announcing a new task force to target the culprits.

    LAPD Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said two of the trio were arrested by the task force while a third was already in custody. Although they were charged with the theft of $300,000 worth of goods across six counties, Hamilton said, evidence suggests that more than $900,000 worth of items may have been snatched by the crew.

    Isaiah Abdullah, Ishmael Baptist and Nickolas Mallory are charged with conspiring to steal with intent to sell on two or more occasions from some of the best-known designer stores. All three have multiple felony convictions for crimes including robbery.

    The run of smash and grabs began Dec. 12, when authorities allege that Abdullah ripped off nearly $3,000 worth of Burberry items from an Orange County store. According to the charges, their biggest score came at Louis Vitton in San Diego County, where Abdullah and Mallory were accused of taking more than $33,000 in merchandise.

    Bonta said that within a day or two of the smash and grab, the suspects would sell the stolen designer wares “through Instagram stories — that was their chosen platform for resale.”

    Two of the thefts involved such force that prosecutors charged Abdullah and Mallory with robbery in connection with an incident last October and Abdullah for another incident in January.

    Hamilton and Bonta said that although firearms weren’t used in the crimes, a total of five firearms were recovered during searches of places tied to the suspects; one of the weapons, they said, was a fully automated Glock pistol. One of the firearms recovered also led to charges in a separate crime case.

    Hamilton said the task force has many other ongoing cases in the works. Pushing back against a reporter’s suggestion that the department was soft on retail theft, Hamilton said there would be additional arrests, more felony charges and some suspects held on very high bail amounts, like the suspects in this case, where bail was set at $1 million.

    Bonta also took umbrage with the narrative that criminal justice reforms such as Proposition 47, which made thefts of less than $950 in goods a misdemeanor, have encouraged smash and grab thieves. The offenses charged in this case weren’t misdemeanors, Bonta said, and the value of goods stolen is well above the misdemeanor threshold, meaning that Proposition 47 has nothing to do with them.

    “We’re not turning a blind eye to these criminal schemes, whether it’s stealing hundreds of thousands or sometimes millions of dollars in merchandise,” Bonta, said. “They disrupt our economy, and they endanger the public. They endanger workers.”

    I’ve always wanted to be that cool girl who wears men’s cologne instead of its floral “women’s” counterpart. But so many scents were just too heavy for me, too smoky and woody. Gucci’s new Guilty Elixir de Parfum Pour Homme changed all that. The Italian luxury house recently rolled out two new fragrances — or elixirs — made “Pour Homme” and “Pour Femme” but I can easily see any gender wearing both. That idea of “fragrance for all” will continue into 2024.

    But first, let’s go back to the Y2K era. The original Gucci Guilty came out in 2010 and quickly became a cult classic. Women loved theirs (even Lindsey Lohan expressed her love at the time) but the men’s fragrance was especially ground-breaking because it had florals — something generally only reserved for typically feminine scents. “The original was very innovative because I wanted to create a floral for men,” senior perfumer Jacques Huclier told StyleCaster. “So I work from orange flower, orange blossom…I work with beautiful Italian lemon with pink pepper with beautiful lavender from France and very vibrant wood as a patchouli. Patchouli for me it’s like a heart beating. It gives a lot of vibration, life, to the fragrance.”

    The new “elixirs” are more intense, bolder, and more concentrated. But they still have a nod to the cult scents of the 2010s. “The idea was to keep the core DNA of Gucci Guilty, but reinterpret the same idea in another direction,” said renowned perfumer Quentin Bisch. “And so orange flower was key, actually as well. I kept these elements and I complemented with leathery facets and the idea was to become an elixir so to become even bolder, more intense, and playing on higher concentration.”

    I’m not an expert when it comes to fragrance. That’s why I was stoked to speak to the best of the best perfumers. I understand now why I’m so drawn to Gucci’s Guilty Elixir de Parfum Pour Homme. It’s that floral scent that isn’t too overwhelming (with patchouli for sex appeal) and feels naturally unisex without trying so hard. In fact, the brand isn’t pushing the scents as unisex — there is a For Her and For Him — but even the ad campaign starring Elliot Page, A$AP Rocky, and Julia Garner, is all about not submitting to gender rules. It’s the future of fragrance.

    But that doesn’t mean Gucci Gulity Elixir de Parfum Pour Femme is overly feminine. It has a more feminine feel, for sure, but still within that same space where truly anyone could wear it. “The line is all about flower and sensuality,” said Natalie Gracia-Cetto, the French perfumer who developed the new Pour Femme. “In the beginning it was more lilac flower with musky notes…now with the elixir it’s more Wisteria combined with vanilla absolute and tonka bean.” Gracia-Cetto calls the new scent “mysterious and spicy,” and “an evolution towards intensity.”

    “We all have a masculine part and a feminine part. And then when you accept that, then you’re open to a new spirit,” she adds.

    That’s why all folks of all genders are choosing what fragrance speaks to them, regardless of what the packaging says. In Europe, the perfumers see other fragrance trends blooming, sure to make their way to the U.S. Gracia-Cetto notes a shift from the overly sweet gourmand scents. “When you combine gourmand notes with woods then you can have very new experiences,” she said of the new iterations.

    “A new trend is probably to have some fragrances genderless,” Huclier added. “A man can wear a women’s fragrance and women can wear men’s fragrance. It’s less separated than before. Before, the global woman’s fragrances were very floral.” He cited the new Gucci Guilty scents as an example. They’re different enough (which is why there are two) without being the overly feminine or masculine fragrances our parents wore.

    2024 is off to a good start.

    Last year, I caused a bit of a ruckus by saying the fashion at The Game Awards was indicative of the industry’s identity crisis. I lamented the t-shirt and blazer uniform and begged the men of the industry to do better. And though I said this not long before the 2022 awards show was set to kick off, it was clear that even in those few days, gaming’s biggest names scrambled to make sure they pleased one relatively unknown woman from New York.

    Ahead of this year’s awards, I offered unsolicited fashion advice to try and ensure the awards ceremony felt as glitzy and as glamorous as host Geoff Keighley wants it to be. I even dressed a few of the attendees myself. But despite all that, I wasn’t sure what kind of looks we’d see when The Game Awards 2023 livestream kicked off on December 7.

    This year, I attended the awards in-person, and had quite a few people tell me face-to-face that I singlehandedly made the attendees step up their fashion game. There was so much style both on and off the stage at the Peacock Theater last night, with dozens of people donning sequins and sparkles and Barbie-pink gowns and bright suit sets and funky accessories and sky-high heels. It truly was a feast for the eyes. Hell, Geoff dressed so well this year that someone dropped an f-bomb on stage over it.

    So, I decided, just like last year, to gather some of the best-dressed attendees of The Game Awards 2023. Some of them were on-stage, many were off, all were fabulous. Click through to see who made the cut. You’re all beautiful.

    I’m extremely grateful for all the fragrances I’ve acquired over the years as a beauty editor. Although I have a nice stock I can choose from to suit my mood, I always find that I come back to the same handful of fragrances and wear them on repeat. What can I say? I’m a creature of habit. It’s always a special feeling, though, when you spritz on something new and instantly know it will be part of that handful. 

    I had such an instance occur when I doused myself in Gucci’s latest addition to the Guilty family, Guilty Elixir de Parfum Pour Femme ($175). Not only did I immediately fall in love with the rich, heady scent, but I also received a compliment from a friend that I’d never gotten before. The first thing she said to me when I went in for a hug was, “OMG, you smell like an angel!” The highest praise coming from someone who has exquisite taste in fragrances.

    Like the real-life exhibition, Gucci’s new initiative with The Sandbox lets visitors explore the brand’s history.

    While the hype surrounding the metaverse seems to perish, the famous Italian luxury fashion brand Gucci is doubling down on its virtual reality strategy with a new initiative in collaboration with The Sandbox (SAND), a blockchain-based gaming platform.

    In a blog announcement on Nov. 8, 2023, The Sandbox said the new Gucci Cosmos Land immersive hub will allow its visitors to explore “decades of iconic designs, offering a captivating exploration of their origins.”

    “Set within a reimagined London exclusively for Gucci, this adventure is a tribute to the brand’s beginnings and an homage to its enduring creativity.”

    By exploring each section of the exhibition, visitors can learn a unique aspect of the Gucci story, from its principles since its founding in 1921 to its inspirations and creativity, The Sandbox said.

    As part of the initiative, The Sandbox players can customize their avatars with new skins inspired by the Gucci Cosmos exhibition, including a look from Creative Director Sabato De Sarno’s debut fashion show.

    Following the announcement, SAND price briefly jumped 7%, surging to $0.41, as per data from CoinGecko.

    For Gucci, the latest exhibition is yet another attempt to dive deep into the metaverse industry as the Florence-based fashion house has already made a foray into the yet nascent market.

    In October 2022, Gucci became the first major fashion and luxury brand to secure virtual land on The Sandbox. The fashion house also introduced Gucci Vault, an experimental area for non-fungible tokens (NFTs), vintage goods such as Gucci bags, and up-and-coming virtual developers in The Sandbox.
