  • Virginia mom praises Trump for shining ‘a light’ on daughter’s school transition case during SOTU

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The mother of a Virginia teen praised President Donald Trump for shining “a light” on her daughter’s case during his State of the Union address and vowed to continue her lawsuit against the school she accused of secretly socially transitioning her child without parental consent.

“It meant the world. It was very surreal,” Michele Blair, mother of Sage Blair, said Wednesday as she reflected on the president’s remarks.

Sage was recognized as one of Trump’s guests during his address to Congress, where he detailed her story before a national audience.

The president said Sage was 14 when school officials in Virginia “sought to socially transition her to a new gender,” treating her as a boy and allegedly hiding it from her parents.

Trump described how Sage ran away from home, was placed in an all-boys state facility after a ruling from a judge and was later returned to her family. He praised her resilience, calling her “a proud and wonderful young woman” who now has a full scholarship to Liberty University.

“I’m just so grateful that a light has been shown on this dark topic because it’s happening to so many children like Sage,” Blair told Carley Shimkus.

“They [the school] glorified the fact that… she wanted to identify as a boy, and she was being horribly bullied… Had things been different, and they called me and brought me in and told me about the bullying, I could have saved her a lifetime of nightmares,” she added.

Attorney Vernadette Broyles alleged that after running away, Sage was sex trafficked across multiple states before being recovered by law enforcement in Texas and later transferred to Maryland.

“It was a nightmare that… I don’t know if she’ll ever get beyond,” Blair told “Fox & Friends First.”

Broyles said the family’s legal battle is already underway in federal court.

“We have a Title IX claim that is pending right now in the Western District of Federal Court in Virginia on behalf of Sage herself,” she said.

She said the complaint is being amended to include a religious free exercise claim, arguing that Michele Blair’s parental rights to direct her daughter’s religious upbringing were violated.

“This is a deeply broken young woman that was kept in the system,” Broyles said.

  • Gavin Newsom spox tells reporter ‘f— off’ when asked for records of his dyslexia diagnosis

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A chief spokesperson for Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom lashed out at a reporter Monday asking for medical records documenting his dyslexia diagnosis.

Newsom, who’s been outspoken about his dyslexia since at least 2004 when he was mayor of San Francisco, is facing blowback for comments he made in Atlanta, Georgia over the weekend when he invoked his reading disability.

RealClearPolitics correspondent Susan Crabtree revealed the expletive-tinged response she received when she asked for proof of Newsom’s dyslexia diagnosis, which the governor previously said he received in 1972 when he was a young child.

“Hey Susan — thanks for reaching out,” wrote Newsom’s communications director Izzy Gardon, according to a screenshot of the email Crabtree shared on X.

“Respectfully, f— off,” Gardon told Crabtree.

Fox News Digital asked Gardon whether he was speaking in a personal capacity or spoke behalf of Newsom and whether he approved the response to Crabtree. Gardon replied, “Yes, Susan can f— off.”

When asked whether that sentiment was shared by Newsom himself, Gardon replied, “The governor literally has no idea who Susan is.”

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Crabtree suggested a book she co-authored last year about California corruption “got under Mr. Gardon’s skin.”

“Californians and all Americans deserve real answers about Newsom’s claims, not lazy, expletive-laced deflections and hand gestures from a politician from a failed state who wants to be president, Crabtree said. “I’m going to continue to ask the tough questions despite this vitriolic taxpayer-funded attempt to intimidate me.”

The likely 2028 Democratic hopeful went viral Sunday for comments critics say are “racist” while at a book tour event in Atlanta.

“I’m not, you know, I’m not trying to impress you, I’m just trying to impress upon you, I’m like you. I’m no better than you,” Newsom told Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, who is Black, during an exchange.

“You know, I’m a 960 SAT guy. And, you know, and I’m not trying to offend anyone, you know, ‘trying to act all there if you got 940,’” Newsom continued. “Literally a 960 SAT guy, you’ve never seen me read a speech. Because I cannot read a speech. Maybe the wrong business to be in.”

Critics accuse Newsom of demeaning the intelligence of Black people with those comments. It has been disputed whether Newsom was speaking in front of a majority-Black audience as footage of the event showed many White people in the crowd. The governor and his defenders vehemently reject the racism charges.

  • Newsom says ‘fate’ will decide if he faces off against Harris in 2028 presidential primary

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Gov. Gavin Newsom, D-Calif., was vague on whether he believes he and former Vice President Kamala Harris may face off against each other in a 2028 presidential primary.

While promoting his upcoming memoir “Young Man in a Hurry,” Newsom was asked by CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union” Sunday about his relationship with Harris, whose political career also began in California.

Bash pointed out that Newsom wrote about their “parallel careers,” and she wondered whether those careers could potentially “intersect and collide.”

“I’m talking about running for president in 2028, the whole country,” Bash said.

“That’s… fate will determine that. And I’ve never gotten in the way of her ambition ever. I haven’t. And I don’t imagine I would in the future,” Newsom said.

He added, “You only can control what you can control. I think this entire book is that fundamental lesson, and this notion of controlling what you control and taking responsibility for what you control is a big part of what I try to communicate in this book.”

  • CBS’ Norah O’Donnell claims coworkers are ‘fearful’ over the numerous changes in leadership

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Longtime CBS News correspondent Norah O’Donnell remarked on how “challenging” the network’s new leadership has been in a podcast interview Tuesday.

While appearing on “The Jamie Kern Lima Show,” O’Donnell was asked to comment on the changes at CBS since the network and its parent company, Paramount Global, came under new leadership.

“You know, I have worked at CBS now for, oh my goodness, probably almost 14 years and have had a great career,” O’Donnell said. “Whether it was covering the White House anchoring the morning show, anchoring the evening news, and working for ‘60 Minutes,’ we have had a lot of leadership changes at CBS, and that has been challenging, not only for me, but I know for my colleagues. And I think with so many leadership changes, people are fearful about what the future means.”

“I’m very fortunate to work for CBS News and work with the very best producers and, you know, sometimes we all take a lot of heat, you know, but I happen to work with some really incredible, incredible people who make our job not only interesting and successful, but also we care deeply about each other,” O’Donnell said.

  • Texas Democrats called out over ‘egregious circular-firing squad behavior’ in Senate primary race

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Democrats in Texas were called out on Friday in an Atlantic article for their “circular-firing squad behavior” in the state’s Democratic Senate primary.

“The party’s latest and most egregious circular-firing-squad behavior transpired earlier this week, when the Democrat Colin Allred, who’d previously dropped out of the Senate race, endorsed Jasmine Crockett, one of the two remaining major competitors. He gave his reason for doing so in a video he posted to social media on Monday,” Atlantic writer Jonathan Chait wrote.

The article referenced comments made by Morgan Thompson, a political influencer who posts on TikTok under the username @morga_tt, who claimed that state Rep. James Talarico, a Democrat, referred to former Rep. Colin Allred, D-Texas, as a “mediocre Black man.” Talarico, who is now facing off against Rep. Jasmine Crockett, allegedly told Thompson that he “signed up to run against a mediocre Black man, not a formidable, intelligent Black woman.”

Allred responded to the comments in a video on social media, and encouraged people to vote for Crockett.

Allred dropped out of the Senate Race in December.

Chait wrote that Allred chose the most “inflammatory response” to post on TikTok.

“Allred did not have to record and share his response to Talarico, nor was he required to take the allegation at face value. He chose the most inflammatory response,” he wrote.

Allred said, “We’re tired of folks using praise for Black women to mask criticism for Black men.”

TEXAS DEM WHO SAID GOD IS ‘NONBINARY’ NOW SAYS ATHEISTS ARE MORE ‘CHRIST-LIKE’ THAN CHRISTIAN COLLEAGUES

“Everything about this episode reveals levels of pathological incompetence. Crockett and her supporters are prying open fissures that will scar whichever candidate emerges. They are expressing themselves in social-justice jargon that might be effective in a student-council race at Wesleyan but sounds completely alien to most Texans,” Chait wrote.

Chait also criticized Crockett for her plan to win over voters that have historically not been reached. The progressive firebrand has said she doesn’t need to win over voters who supported President Donald Trump. She said during an interview on CNN in December, “Our goal is to make sure that we can engage people that historically have not been talked to.”

“Crockett has suggested that she can help drive turnout of infrequent voters. The belief that there is a hidden reservoir of left-wing voters who will bother to show up at the polls only if a sufficiently progressive candidate activates their interest is a decades-old myth,” Chait argued.

He also argued that concerns about Crockett’s electability were not racist, as she has suggested. Chait specifically referenced podcast hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers telling listeners not to waste money on her campaign.

In response, Crockett said the hosts were saying the “quiet part out loud.”

“I really do think that the host said the quiet part out loud, which basically was: If a White man couldn’t do it, then why would a Black woman even have the audacity to think that she could?” Crockett said.

  • Trump seeks $1 billion in damages from Harvard University over ‘serious and heinous illegalities’

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

President Donald Trump said Monday that he is seeking $1 billion in damages from Harvard University.

Harvard has been a main target of the Trump administration’s attempt to leverage federal funding in order to crack down on antisemitism and “woke” ideology. The New York Times published a Monday report headlined, “Trump Is Said to Have Dropped Demand for Cash From Harvard,” that suggested the president was no longer seeking a $200 million payment to the government. Trump took to social media, blasting the Times and saying he now wants the prestigious university to shell out even more cash.

“Strongly Antisemitic Harvard University has been feeding a lot of ‘nonsense’ to The Failing New York Times. Harvard has been, for a long time, behaving very badly! They wanted to do a convoluted job training concept, but it was turned down in that it was wholly inadequate and would not have been, in our opinion, successful. It was merely a way of Harvard getting out of a large cash settlement of more than 500 Million Dollars, a number that should be much higher for the serious and heinous illegalities that they have committed. This should be a Criminal, not Civil, event, and Harvard will have to live with the consequences of their wrongdoings,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“In any event, this case will continue until justice is served,” Trump continued. “We are now seeking One Billion Dollars in damages, and want nothing further to do, into the future, with Harvard University.”

Trump did not specify what specific damages Harvard caused, but suggested he agrees with at least one part of the Gray Lady report.

“As The Failing New York Times clearly stated, ‘Some connected to the University, however, think Harvard has no option but to eventually cut a deal. The Administration has repeatedly attempted to cut off research grants, which would be an untenable crises. Like many major research universities, Harvard relies on federal funding for its financial model,’” Trump wrote.

Harvard University did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Times updated its report following Trump’s reaction.

“Trump administration officials have indicated in recent days that the president no longer expects such a payment, according to the Harvard and Trump officials briefed on the matter, speaking on the condition of anonymity to describe private conversations,” the Times reported. “But shortly before midnight, six hours after The Times reported that Mr. Trump had backtracked, he claimed the story was wrong and attacked The Times and Harvard.”

In December, lawyers for the Trump administration appealed a judge’s order to restore $2.7 billion in frozen federal research funding to Harvard University.

Harvard sued the Trump administration in April over its attempt to freeze the federal funding and argued in court that the actions amounted to an unconstitutional “pressure campaign” to influence and exert control over elite academic institutions.

The Trump administration accused Harvard of “fostering violence, antisemitism, and coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party on its campus,” but Harvard Law professor Noah Feldman said in a radio interview that the move is “about Trump trying to impose his view of the world on everybody else.”

Lawyers for the Justice Department argued it had “every right” to cancel the funding for Harvard after it failed to comply with its demands.

  • Don Lemon details LA arrest with Jimmy Kimmel, says Trump DOJ wanted to ’embarrass’ him

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Former CNN host Don Lemon shed light on how his arrest over the Minnesota church storming transpired during an interview Monday with ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel.

Lemon began by revealing that his attorney Abbe Lowell had reached out to the Justice Department prior to the arrest to discuss his client turning himself in as top DOJ officials spoke openly about seeking charges against him, but that Lowell “never heard back.”

He then offered a timeline of what had transpired late Thursday night leading up to his arrest, how he had attended pre-Grammy events and that it wasn’t until he got back to his hotel in Los Angeles that he was accosted by federal agents.

“I press the elevator button and then all of a sudden, I feel myself being jostled and people trying to grab me and put me in handcuffs,” Lemon said. “And I said, ‘What are you doing here?’ They said, ‘We came to arrest you.’ I said, ‘Who are you?’ And then they, like, finally identity themselves.”

DON LEMON RELEASED FROM CUSTODY AFTER LA COURT APPEARANCE

The ex-CNN star then said he then demanded to see a warrant, which the agents who grabbed him didn’t have, so he said they had to “wait” for an FBI agent from outside to bring a copy of the warrant on a cellphone.

“It had to be maybe a dozen people, which is a waste, Jimmy, of resources,” Lemon told Kimmel. “Because I had told them weeks before, maybe once or twice… that I could just go in and they didn’t have to be — the folks that were just working there that day and they didn’t have to have all of these people following me around.”

“It’s more than just a waste of resources,” Kimmel reacted.

“You’re right about more than just a waste of resources,” Lemon responded. “They want that. They want to embarrass you. They want to intimidate you. They want to instill fear, and so that’s why they did it that way.”

DON LEMON’S LENGTHY HISTORY OF ANTI-ICE RHETORIC

Lemon was arrested and charged Friday with conspiracy to deprive rights and violation of the FACE Act for his involvement in the anti-ICE protest that disrupted services at a Minnesota church.

Lemon went viral last month for livestreaming left-wing agitators who stormed St. Paul’s Cities Church during Sunday services. Lemon has maintained he was there as a journalist, not as a protester. In the indictment, however, the DOJ accuses him of coordinating with the protest organizers before they arrived at the church.

Don Lemon told Fox News Digital that he stands by his reporting.

“I’ve spent my entire career covering the news. I will not stop now,” Lemon told reporters outside the courthouse on Friday. “There is no more important time than right now, this very moment, for a free and independent media that shines a light on the truth and holds those accountable. And I will not stop now. I will not stop ever.

“Last night, the DOJ sent a team of federal agents to arrest me in the middle of the night for something that I’ve been doing for the last 30 years. And that is covering the news. The First Amendment of the Constitution protects that work for me and for countless other journalists who do what I do. I stand with all of them, and I will not be silenced. I look forward to my day in court.”

A federal magistrate judge previously rejected the Justice Department’s initial attempt to bring charges against Lemon. The DOJ then sought an indictment from a Minnesota grand jury.

Prior to the arrest, Lemon dared the Trump administration to make him “into the new Jimmy Kimmel.”

Kimmel, a fierce Trump critic, was briefly suspended by ABC last year following his remarks about the alleged killer of Charlie Kirk that caught the attention of the Federal Communications Commission. Like Kimmel, Lemon has become a liberal folk hero for his fighting with the Trump administration.

Lemon’s next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 9 in Minneapolis.

MS NOW host Joe Scarborough told Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday that former President Joe Biden’s staff used to let him know when the then-president was watching “Morning Joe” — and urged him to not be too hard on him.

“And I would hear from the chiefs of staff that worked for him,” Scarborough said. “‘Be nice to the president. Because when you’re critical, well, it kind of screws up our day.’”

Scarborough said the requests did not influence how he approached his job.

Scarborough also said that Trump likely watches his show, telling Kimmel he spoke to the president after his call with Gov. Tim Walz about Minneapolis.

“I said, ‘Listen.’ And I don’t usually do this. I just called him up. I said, ‘If you don’t mind, off the record, tell me about the call. He told me about the call. And I said, Mr. President, I think it’s a good thing for Americans to see you and Tim Walz and the mayor of Minneapolis talking to each other. We need more of that,” Scarborough said.

The MS NOW host said Biden was “the best Biden ever” during a March 2024 episode of “Morning Joe,” on then-MSNBC, despite concerns throughout the former president’s term about his fitness and ability to serve.

“I’ve said it for years now, he’s cogent. But I undersold it when I said he was cogent. He’s far beyond cogent. In fact, I think he’s better than he’s ever been, intellectually, analytically, because he’s been around for 50 years,” Scarborough said at the time. “Start your tape right now, because I’m about to tell you the truth. And F you if you can’t handle the truth. This version of Biden, intellectually, analytically, is the best Biden ever.”

After the former president exited the 2024 race and former Vice President Kamala Harris lost to Trump, multiple books came out with insider accounts from the Biden White House and re-election campaign that included bombshell revelations about what staffers reportedly knew about Biden’s health.

Scarborough admitted in May 2025 that he was “obviously wrong” about Biden being the best ever, but that he was just going off of what he saw in his own interactions.

  • Gov Whitmer says America ‘ready for a woman president,’ contrasting Michelle Obama

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Michigan’s Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said she believes America is ready for a woman president, pushing back on recent comments by former first lady Michelle Obama, who said U.S. voters were not ready to elect a woman to the White House.

In an interview with NPR released on Tuesday, Whitmer said she has “love” for the former first lady and “the last thing I want to do is disagree with her,” but that she has a different perspective.

“I think America is ready for a woman president,” Whitmer said. “The question comes down to a choice between two people, and what we saw in this last election, while Kamala Harris didn’t beat President Trump, we saw women get elected across the country.”

“We saw women win up and down the ballot in hard, important states to win, so I do think there’s an appetite,” she added. “I just, for whatever reason, we have not had a woman president yet. I think we will at some point in the near future.”

The governor cited the election victories last year for Democratic Govs. Abigail Spanberger in Virginia and Mikie Sherill in New Jersey, as well as Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., in 2024.

In November, Obama said Americans are “not ready” to elect a woman to the White House, pointing to former Vice President Kamala Harris’ election loss to President Donald Trump in the last presidential election.

“As we saw in this past election, sadly, we ain’t ready,” the former first lady said at the Brooklyn Academy of Music at the time while promoting her book, “The Look.”

“That’s why I’m like, don’t even look at me about running, because you all are lying. You’re not ready for a woman. You are not … We’ve got a lot of growing up to do, and there’s still, sadly, a lot of men who do not feel like they can be led by a woman, and we saw it,” she added.

Pressed on whether Harris lost to Trump in the presidential election because she is a woman, Whitmer responded: “I don’t think it was just gender, no.”

Whitmer, who is term limited and cannot seek a third term as governor, said she does not currently have plans to run for another office.

She has been floated as a potential presidential candidate in 2028, but the governor said her focus remains on serving Michigan and helping her party’s candidates win the upcoming midterm elections.

Asked about how Democrats could win in the midterms this year, Whitmer pointed to her gubernatorial campaign’s decision to remain “focused on the fundamentals.”

“I don’t think Michigan is unique in that,” Whitmer said. “I think every person in this country wants and expects government to make their lives better, and so that’s been our formula here in Michigan and I think that can be replicated everywhere successfully.”

He explained that plasma exchange is “really intense, but you feel fantastic.”

Lowe joked that Chesney should start selling plasma exchanges, saying, “I’ve got my homework. Kenny Chesney’s plasma exchange. ‘Hi, I’m Kenny Chesney, get your very own bag.’”

  • Washington Post urges Supreme Court to ‘save women’s sports’ ahead of major trans athlete case

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The Washington Post published an opinion piece supporting women’s sports ahead of a Supreme Court hearing on transgender athletes’ participation in school sports.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court will hear arguments on the Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J. cases, which both address the constitutional rights of states to bar biological males from competing in women’s sports.

Days before the high-profile hearing, The Washington Post editorial board wrote that “neither science nor the American public” is on the side of transgender athletes and that a decision could finally put the debate to rest.

FEDERAL JUDGE STRIKES DOWN ‘GENDER SECRECY’ POLICIES IN CALIFORNIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS

“The Supreme Court has the chance this week to save women’s sports, allowing states to restore a level playing field for girls by excluding biological men and thereby correcting one of the worst excesses of America’s cultural revolution,” the editorial board wrote Sunday.

The Washington Post denounced efforts by people to “disbelieve their lying eyes” on facts surrounding biological males’ physical advantages over women, saying that their efforts failed both in policy and politics.

“It’s a policy failure because activist groups pushed for policies that were far outside the mainstream,” The Washington Post argued. “About 7 in 10 U.S. adults believe athletic participation should be determined by biological sex, not gender identity. It’s a political failure because those groups never really tried to make a compelling case for their agenda. Instead, they attacked those who disagreed as transphobic and sought to shut down debate. Is there evidence that males are better athletes than females? Yes, scads.”

The publication also warned that broad transgender inclusion in women’s sports could effectively end female athlete participation entirely, rolling back decades of progress made by the feminist movement.

“Rather than unlawful discrimination on the basis of sex, the laws being challenged are reasonable concessions to immutable reality,” the Post concluded.

SUPREME COURT RULING ON TRANS TREATMENTS FOR MINORS DECRIED BY MEDIA AS ‘HUGE SETBACK FOR TRANSGENDER RIGHTS’

Director of Independent Women’s Law Center, May Mailman, expressed surprise at The Washington Post’s stance, claiming it would have been “unthinkable” until recently. However, she added that the Post’s stance is largely catching up with “the side of reality.”

“I don’t actually think this article reflects a shift in public opinion — the public was always on the side of reality. It reflects the defeat of the elites. The elites, like university professors and liberal lawyers, forced this lie down our throats, they’ve been called out for it, and now they are pretending like they’re discovering reality anew,” Mailman told Fox News Digital.

Nearly 30 states currently have laws preventing transgender athletes from taking part in female sports at public schools and college. It remains unclear when the Supreme Court will issue decisions in Little v. Hecox and West Virginia v. B.P.J.

  • Prominent Pittsburgh newspaper that previously endorsed Trump to shutter this year

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

One of the most prominent swing state newspapers in the country that once endorsed President Donald Trump will shutter later this year.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette announced Wednesday that it will cease operations May 3.

In an article published on its website, the Post-Gazette said that its parent company Block Communications Inc. “lost more than $350 million in cash operating the newspaper” and that the company said that the declining revenue local journalism has suffered is “no longer sustainable.”

The Block family expressed regret about its decision in a statement to the Post-Gazette, saying it is “proud of the service the Post-Gazette has provided to Pittsburgh for nearly a century.”

Founded in 1927, The Post-Gazette marked the consolidation of The Pittsburgh Post and Pittsburgh Gazette Times. The paper began rolling back its print editions in 2018, eventually printing just twice a week.

The Post-Gazette, which backed President Barack Obama in both 2008 and 2012, offered its endorsement to Trump during the 2020 election after it refrained from making an endorsement in 2016.

At the time, the Post-Gazette told readers that Trump “is not Churchill, to be sure, but he gets things done.”

“This newspaper has not supported a Republican for president since 1972. But we believe Mr. Trump, for all his faults, is the better choice this year,” the Post-Gazette editorial board wrote in Oct. 2020. “We respect and understand those who feel otherwise. We wish that we could be more enthusiastic and we hope the president can become more dignified and statesmanlike. Each American must make up his or her own mind and do what he or she thinks is best for the community and the republic. Vote your conscience. And, whatever happens, believe in the country.”

The Post-Gazette, like several other prominent newspapers, refrained from making a presidential endorsement during the 2024 election cycle.

There has been declining revenue in local journalism, particularly print newspapers, across the country in recent years as consumers increasingly get their news from digital media.

  • United Nations ‘upset’ that Trump took ‘bold action’ to improve Venezuela, says UN Amb. Mike Waltz

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz told “Hannity” on Tuesday why he believes the UN is “so upset” about President Donald Trump’s capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro.

“Over 50 countries didn’t even recognize Maduro because he stole the election. So, it’s hard to figure out what they’re so upset about,” Waltz told Fox News host Sean Hannity.

“I think we know the answer. It’s because it’s President Trump, and he’s a man of action and took real action. And now the Venezuelan people are going to be better off,” he added.

Waltz’s comments came after the UN said Tuesday the United States’ removal of Venezuela’s Maduro violates international law and makes the world less safe.

Maduro is currently being held in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. — a facility notorious for housing high-profile criminals like disgraced musician Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jeffrey Epstein’s accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.

He pleaded not guilty to four criminal charges, including narco-terrorism.

Waltz applauded the president for taking “real action” against the South American strongman.

“The world is safer, stronger and certainly more prosperous because of it,” Waltz argued.

But, the Trump-appointed ambassador maintained dethroning Maduro was a good choice from the commander-in-chief.

“This was the right thing to do,” said Waltz. “President Trump took bold action and will continue to swing and DOGE that ridiculous organization called the United Nations.”

Waltz also touted defunding the UN’s Human Rights Council, a move he said was made possible by the Trump administration.

  • Bondi says Trump ‘saved countless lives’ in Venezuelan dictator Maduro capture operation

The capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro was “not just about drugs,” U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said in her first interview about the military operation on “Hannity” Monday.

Maduro and other defendants could face charges in other places, Bondi said.

“Nothing is off the table,” Bondi told Fox News host Sean Hannity. “These people must remain behind bars. They are responsible for the loss of so many lives, and these aren’t street-level drug dealers. They are narco-traffickers.”

On Monday, Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, pleaded not guilty to narco-terrorism and other charges in federal court.

  • Seattle police union condemns new socialist mayor’s drug enforcement approach as ‘suicidal empathy’

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The president of the Seattle Police Officers Guild issued a statement on Sunday slamming the newly elected self-described democratic socialist Mayor Katie Wilson‘s approach to drug enforcement as “suicidal empathy.”

“The recent naive, ignorant political decision to not arrest offenders for open drug use in the City of Seattle is horrifically dangerous and will create more death and societal decay,” the Seattle Police Officers Guild President, Mike Solan, said. “It embodies an enormous flaw in those in our community who think that meeting people where they are who are in the throes of addiction, is the correct path to lift them up.”

Wilson responded to Solan’s claims in a statement sent to Fox News Digital that did not confirm the allegation that the city had ordered police to stop arrests of open drug use.

“You’ll know when I announce a policy change, because I’ll announce a policy change. Several weeks ago I published a vision for public safety, which begins with the commitment that everyone in Seattle, of every background and every income, deserves to be safe in their homes, streets, parks, and places of business in every neighborhood across our city,” Wilson said.

SEATTLE ABOUT TO GET NY’S HAMMER-AND-SICKLE TREATMENT. SOCIALISM IS COMING YOUR WAY

The president of the Seattle Police Officers Guild issued a statement on Sunday explaining that police were ordered to halt open drug use arrests and instead redirect such cases away from the criminal legal system to mental health services. (Seattle Police Department / File)

The confusion on whether there is a change in policy when arresting drug use, appears to stem from an internal email from Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes. According to KOMO News, the Barnes’ email said, “effective immediately, all charges related to drug possession and/or drug use will be diverted from prosecution to the LEAD program. All instances of drug use or possession will be referred to Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD)—a program designed to redirect lowlevel offenders in King County from the criminal justice system into supportive social services.”

Seattle Police Chief Barnes also explained that when someone does not follow the requirements of the LEAD program, the case will move forward through normal prosecution. He noted that LEAD has long been used as an alternative to arrest and that this update is consistent with Seattle City Ordinance. He also clarified that the diversion option is limited: it does not apply to people who are not eligible for LEAD or to those arrested for selling or delivering drugs. Only cases involving personal-use quantities may be diverted, not sales or delivery offenses.

The Seattle police told KOMO News that “nothing has changed when it comes to police continuing to make drug-related arrests in Seattle.”

Solan criticized Seattle’s Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD), which describes itself as a “replicable model that enhances public safety and equity by diverting people with unmet behavioral health needs away from jail and prosecution and into nonpunitive, collaborative, community-based systems of care.”

“This is wrong and is commonly referred to as ‘Suicidal Empathy.’ Most cops know that the LEAD program supports this ideology, and they don’t want to refer cases. It is a waste of time. We’ve all seen how our streets can be filled with death, decay, blight and crime when ideology like this infects our city. Now with this resurrected insane direction, death, destruction and more human suffering will be supercharged,” Solan continued.

In her statement to Fox News Digital, Wilson said LEAD’s framework would be implemented.

“I remain committed to that vision. Our work now is to carry it out, including enforcement of the possession and public use ordinance in priority situations and ensuring that the LEAD framework and other effective responses to neighborhood hot spots are implemented with an appropriate level of urgency, sufficient resources, and a commitment to results,” she said.

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The Washington Post editorial board praised President Donald Trump‘s military operation in Venezuela as an “unquestionable tactical success” in an editorial Saturday.

“President Donald Trump’s decision to capture [Maduro] on Saturday is one of the boldest moves a president has made in years, and the operation was an unquestionable tactical success,” the board wrote.

The editorial was titled, “Justice in Venezuela.”

“The next step is ensuring that this triumph sets Venezuela up for stability rather than chaos,” the piece continued.

The editorial board noted the success proved America’s military and intelligence capabilities remain “second to none,” adding, “This is a major victory for American interests…

“Maduro’s removal also sends an important message to tinpot dictators in Latin America and the world: Trump follows through,” the board wrote. “President Joe Biden offered sanctions relief to Venezuela, and Maduro responded to that show of weakness by stealing an election.”

The paper assessed, “Trump offered Maduro several off-ramps. He could have retired and lived a luxury lifestyle in Moscow or Minsk. Instead, he will probably die in prison. It’s an all-time miscalculation.”

The editorial board discussed the potential outcomes that could arise from the leadership gap and the legal questions surrounding the president’s actions without seeking congressional approval.

“There are also legitimate legal questions about the operation, though Maduro was viewed as a criminal by both Trump and Biden, who raised the reward to $25 million for information leading to his arrest,” the board wrote.

“Sen. Mike Lee said Secretary of State Marco Rubio called him Saturday to say that Trump had the right to act as commander-in-chief. No doubt this debate will continue, and it’s good for democratic hygiene to scrutinize the decision.”

By contrast, The New York Times editorial board criticized the operation as “illegal and unwise” in a Saturday piece.

Shirley provided more background on the interview on Valuetainment’s “PBD Podcast.” He described Wild as “very friendly” but was surprised by her focus on the investigation rather than the daycare centers themselves.

“They put a hit piece out on me,” he said.

“I’m like, ‘Ma’am, you’re defending fraud. Like, what are you talking about?’” Shirley said. “Like, the issue wasn’t what time I showed up to the daycare. The issue is that this building right here is receiving $1.9 million, and it’s not even operating. And they’re showing [their] face right now while they’re literally shuffling in kids while the commissioner of children is saying the daycare was closed last week.”

During the segment, Shirley pushed back on Wild’s questioning of his allegations.

“You’re saying that this is a fraudulent daycare. There’s kids being dropped off right now,” Wild remarked.

Christian actor Alister Hawke knew he had “big shoes to fill” when stepping into the role of the Apostle John, Jesus’ beloved disciple whose obedience and devotion kept him at the foot of the cross with Mary until the very end.

“There’s a certain reverence when you play a character like John the Apostle,” Hawke said Sunday on “Fox & Friends Weekend.”

“What creates that reverence is their obedience, their faithfulness, and their consistency to the task at hand.”

In the new season of Fox Nation’s “Jesus Crown of Thorns,” Hawke brings a deeply human portrayal to what he views as an ordinary person living in “extraordinary circumstances.”

His faith, Hawke explained, added both responsibility and perspective to the role, pushing him to approach John’s story with humility while exploring the flawed nature of the disciples who followed Christ in a time of immense uncertainty and opposition.

“I won’t lie if I say it didn’t add a sort of another layer of pressure, but in the best way possible,” he said of his faith.

“You want to do justice to these people and tell their story, and I’ve always been really passionate about exploring the context of these stories and making sure that things aren’t just taken at base value, and we can really drill into those beautiful moments and those stories, but also the contextual side of things.”

  • Australian politician calls country ‘guinea pig’ for censorship amid world-first social media ban

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A world-first social media ban took effect in Australia last week, restricting children younger than 16 from using platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat and TikTok.

“Australia has become an international guinea pig for the people who want internet censorship,” said Hon. John Ruddick, a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council.

More than 200,000 accounts were deactivated Wednesday after Australia’s Online Safety Amendment went into effect.

“It’s massive,” he explained. “It’s the only thing the country’s talking about.”

The 10 social media giants included in the ban are Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok, Snapchat, Kick, Reddit, Threads, Twitch and YouTube. By law, they are required to locate and deactivate accounts of Australian users under the age of 16.

“I have heard that every playground around Australia for months has been talking about censorship coming,” Ruddick told Fox News Digital.

Children and parents won’t be penalized for violating the ban, but social media companies face fines of up to $33 million if they don’t take “reasonable steps” to remove underage users.

Many Aussie children, Ruddick said, are already finding ways to skirt the sweeping ban.

“They’re getting around it through fake IDs, opening new apps — which you know are popping up — VPNs,” he explained. “Kids are tech-savvy… This is what we predicted would happen.”

Ruddick, alongside two Australian teenagers, is taking legal action over the ban, filing a constitutional challenge to Australia’s High Court. Equivalent to the U.S. Supreme Court, the court can overturn laws it deems unconstitutional.

Ruddick told Fox News Digital he believes the social media ban violates young Australians’ right to political communication.

“We’re saying that this is breaching young kids’ ability to engage in politics, and a lot of them will be voting within two years of turning the age of 16,” he explained.

The Australian politician is the president of the Digital Freedom Project, a group launched to raise public awareness about the ban that he calls a “dangerous violation” of free speech.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the ban is about shielding children from the harmful effects of social media.

Albanese said Wednesday that the nation is taking a leading role in challenging major tech platforms and demanding accountability for how social media impacts children’s well-being.

“It’s a profound reform which will continue to reverberate around the world in coming months, to assist not just this generation, but generations to come,” Albanese said.

The politician counters Albanese’s argument, saying the ban will create the “worst of both worlds,” with children turning to dangerous underground media platforms while parents let their guard down, assuming the ban is protecting them.

AFTER AUSTRALIA PASSES SOCIAL MEDIA BAN, LAWMAKERS PROBED ON WHY CONGRESS HASN’T DONE MORE TO PROTECT KIDS

Back in the U.S., lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are signaling an interest in tougher social media restrictions for young people following the Aussies’ one-of-a-kind ban.

“I think we ought to look at what Australia’s doing, for example, requiring access to these social media platforms to not be available to anybody under the age of 16,” Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said.

“I think protecting children is an avenue that should be pursued,” Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., said. “I won’t rule out some sort of limitation in sales or distribution or use of those devices… Parents and grandparents need a helping hand; this is getting out of hand.”

Ruddick warned that Australia’s ban is making “very prominent people” interested in a dangerous strategy of censorship.

“I was assuming that the U.S. First Amendment was going to protect you from this,” the politician told Fox News Digital. “But this is why I think we’re a guinea pig. We’re having very prominent people all around the world coming out and supporting this ban.”

“They’re going to try and say it’s a success, and then they’re going to say, ‘Oh, the rest of the world needs to do this.’ This is not about protecting kids. This is about internet censorship, which all governments crave,” he added.
