    Computex 2024: Notebooks mit Snapdragon X Elite Chip – Eine Übersicht

    Auf der Computex 2024 stellte Qualcomm zusammen mit seinen Hardwarepartnern alle Notebooks mit Snapdragon X Elite Chip aus. Ich hatte die Gelegenheit mir alle Notebooks einmal anzuschauen, hier ein Überblick über die performanten und energieeffizienten Geräte.

    ACER Swift 14 AI

    Mit einer Akkulaufzeit von bis zu 26 Stunden spielt das Acer Swift 14 AI auf jeden Fall ganz oben mit was die Laufzeit angeht. Es bleibt spannend ob diese auch wirklich so hoch sein wird. Das Notebook hat einen guten ersten Eindruck hinterlassen und war schön dünn und leicht. Das Notebook hat eine UVP von 1.399 Euro.

    ASUS Vivobook S15

    ASUS Vivobook S15

    Auch ASUS hat ein Snapdragon X Elite Notebook vorgestellt und zwar das Vivobook S15 mit 15-Zoll Display. ASUS gibt die Akkulaufzeit mit bis zu 18 Stunden an. Ein dünnes und leichtes Notebook mit einem schicken Design. Das ASUS Vivobook S15 (S5507) hat eine UVP von 1.399 Euro.

    DELL XPS 13

    Dell XPS 13

    Dell gibt die Akkulaufzeit des XPS 13 mit bis zu 29 Stunden an. Damit wären sie der CoPilot+ PC mit der längsten Akkulaufzeit. Bei der Tastatur geht Dell hier seinen eigenen Weg. Ehrlicherweise muss man sich da schon etwas dran gewöhnen, vor allem wenn man normalerweise Chiclet-Style Tastaturen gewohnt ist. Die UVP beträgt 1.449 Euro.

    Ausgestattet mit dem Snapdragon X Plus, startet das Notebook bei 1.199€ und gehört damit zu den günstigsten Notebooks mit Snapdragon X Prozessor. Ein grundsolides Notebook für den Businessnutzer.

    Wenn es um das Design geht, dann hat HP hier meiner Meinung nach die Nase vorn. Das Omnibook sieht mit seinem weißen Gehäuse sehr gut und edel aus und machte vor Ort auch einen sehr hochwertigen haptischen Eindruck, das hat mir schon sehr gut gefallen. Die Akkulaufzeit gibt HP hier mit bis zu 26 Stunden an. 1299

    HP Elitebook Ultra G1q AI PC

    Ein waschechtes Businessnotebook vom Look und Feel. Bis zu 26 Stunden können die Nutzer hier erwarten, das würde 3 Arbeitstagen entsprechen, was schon sehr eindrucksvoll ist. Da kann das Netzteil auch mal auf der kurzen Geschäftsreise zuhause bleiben. Mit einer UVP von 2.080 Euro gehört das HP Elitebook zu den teuersten Vertretern der Snapdragon X Elite Notebooks.

    Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge 14-Zoll

    Das Galaxy Book4 Edge hinterließ einen sehr guten ersten Eindruck. Das Notebook mit Aluminiumgehäuse fühlte sich sehr hochwertig an, so wie man es von Samsung aber auch erwartet. Die 14-Zoll Variante kann bis zu 20 Stunden durchhalten, ein solider Wert, den man so von x86 Notebooks nicht kennt. Das Galaxy Book4 Edge in 14-Zoll hat eine UVP von 1.699 Euro.

    Der größte CoPilot+ PC der bisher vorgestellt wurde. Aufgrund der Größe passt hier auch noch ein Num-Pad auf die Tastatur. Es hat die gleiche Top-Verarbeitung wie die 14-Zoll Variante. Dank etwas größerem Akku sind bei der 16-Zoll Variante auch bis zu 22 Stunden Akkulaufzeit möglich. Mit 1.799 Euro ist die 16-Zoll Variante auch nur 100 Euro teurer als die 14-Zoll Variante.

    Auch Microsoft hat natürlich ein Surface Laptop mit Snapdragon X Elite vorgestellt und das in zwei Größen, 13,8-Zoll und 15-Zoll. Wie man es von den Surface-Geräten kennt, erwartet uns hier eine tolle Verarbeitung und Haptik. Mit 20 Stunden haben wir hier eine solide Akkulaufzeit mit der man lange unterwegs sein kann. Ab 1.199 Euro geht es los für die 13,8-Zoll Variante. Die 15-Zoll Variante wird eine UVP ab 1.549 Euro erhalten.

    Das Surface Pro ist das erste Tablet welches auf den Snapdragon X Chip setzt. Microsoft gibt bis zu 14 Stunden Akkulaufzeit an, was für ein Windows-Tablet schon ein sehr guter Wert ist. Ab 1.199 Euro geht es los, in der höchsten Konfiguration mit OLED-Display, 32 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD und Snapdragon X Elite. kostet es aber sogar bis zu 2.449 Euro. Hier bietet Microsoft eine Vielzahl an Konfigurationen an.

    LENOVO Yoga Slim 7x

    Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x

    Hier ist der Name Programm, mit einer Dicke von 12,9mm und einem Gewicht von nur 1,28 kg ist es besonders mobil. Mit einer Displayhelligkeit von 1.000 nits ist das Display besonders gut für den Einsatz unterwegs geeignet. 1.399 Euro

    LENOVO ThinkPad T14s Gen 6

    Lenovo Thinkpad T14s Gen6

    ThinkPad-Fans werden sich besonders über das neue ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 freuen. Meiner Meinung nach mit der besten Tastatur und natürlich auch vielseitig nutzbar dank des Trackpoints. Entweder man liebt es oder man hasst es. Mit 1.899 Euro gehört das ThinkPad zu den teureren Notebooks mit Snapdragon X Chip.

    Kommende Snapdragon X Notebooks anderer Hersteller und mit Linux

    Auf der Qualcomm Keynote präsentierte Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon zusammen mit den Hardwarepartnern die Notebooks die mit dem Launch vorgestellt wurden. Ausserdem zeigte er in einem weiteren Slide auch noch alle Partner die mit dem Snapdragon X Elite arbeiten.

    Kurz vor der Computex 2024 hat Qualcomm zusammen mit Microsoft den ersten Schwung der CoPilot+ PCs vorgestellt. Diese konnte ich mir ja nun auch vor Ort in Taipeh anschauen. Auf jeden Fall schon eine sehr gute Auswahl an Notebooks nahmhafter Hersteller. Aber noch nicht hier nicht Schluss.

    Auf dem Snapdragon Summit 2023 hat Qualcomm auch noch weitere Partner angekündigt, die bisher noch keine Geräte gezeigt haben und zwar Honor und Xiaomi. Da mit der IFA im September bereits die nächste wichtige IT-Messe ansteht, können wir bis dahin vielleicht noch weitere Notebooks mit Snapdragon X Elite Chip erwarten.

    Auf der ASUS Pressekonferenz wurde ausserdem auch noch das Tablet ASUS ProArt PZ13 vorgestellt, welches über einen nicht näher spezifizierten Snapdragon X Chip verfügt. Hier wird also im Laufe des Jahres wohl noch eine Ankündigung für eine weitere Prozessorvariante erfolgen. Gerüchten zufolge soll es ein Snapdragon X Plus Chip mit 8 Kernen sein. Wir lassen uns überraschen. Zur IFA im September wissen wir hoffentlich mehr.

    Ausserdem stellte auch Schenker mit seiner Linux-Division Tuxedo Computers ein Prototyp-Notebook mit Snapdragon X Elite und Linux auf der Computex 2024 vor. Aktuell wird aber noch an dem Gerät entwickelt, es wird also wohl noch etwas dauern bis wir dieses Notebook auf dem Markt sehen werden und Linuxfans in den Genuss von Snapdragon X Elite Notebooks kommen werden. Es bleibt also spannend.

    Jensen Huang and Lisa Su have a lot in common. In addition to their respective positions as CEOs of chipmakers Nvidia (NVDA) and AMD (AMD), the two are both first-generation Americans hailing from the southern Taiwanese city of Tainan and are even distant cousins. As industry leaders in semiconductor manufacturing, they have also in recent years become key players amid the artificial intelligence (A.I.) boom. Huang and Su laid out their company roadmaps for the next generations of A.I. chips while taking the stage at Computex 2024, an annual tech trade show held in Taipei, Taiwan. Nvidia and AMD made a name for themselves with graphics processing units (GPUs) powering data centers that run generative A.I. models like OpenAI’s GPT and Google’s Gemini.

    Yesterday (June 2), before the conference officially kicked off, Huang announced a new A.I. chip platform called “Rubin,” expected to roll out in 2026. The announcement came less than three months after Nvidia unveiled its next-generation A.I. chip Blackwell, which has yet to hit the market. “I’m not sure whether I’m going to regret this or not. We have code names in our company and we try to keep them very secret—oftentimes most of our employees don’t even know,” Huang said. Rubin is named after the U.S. astronomer Vera Rubin.

    Both Blackwell and Rubin are in full development, said Huang, who noted they will be produced on a “one-year rhythm.” Blackwell will be made available later this year alongside the Blackwell Ultra in 2025 and the Rubin Ultra in 2027.

    “The pace of product releases from Nvidia is jaw-dropping, not just because the products are so incredible but also because they’re launching or announcing new products every six months when it used to be that the standard was 12 to 18 months,” Cory Johnson, chief market strategist at Futurum Group, told Observer. “Everyone else is playing catch-up, including AMD.”

    How AMD plans to catch up with Nvidia

    Huang gave his presentation solo, joined only by a group of robots as he discussed his vision for “physical A.I.” as the next wave of the technology—one that will see A.I.-powered robots able to work among humans. During her keynote today, Su brought out a series of AMD partners including Microsoft Windows chief Pavan Davuluri and HP CEO Enrique Lores before she divulged details on AMD’s A.I. chip timeline.

    Like Nvidia, AMD plans to develop new A.I. processors on an “annual cadence.” Following the launch of MI300X last year, the company in the fourth quarter of 2024 will make available its successor MI325X, which Su described as faster and offering more memory. This will be followed by the MI350 in 2025 and MI400 series in 2026. “It’s just so clear that the demand for A.I. is accelerating so much going forward,” said Su. “We’re really just at the beginning of a decade-long megacycle for A.I.”

    Nvidia, which accounts for around 70 percent of A.I. semiconductor sales, has a market capitalization of $2.8 trillion, while AMD’s measures at around $264 billion. Nvidia’s success has made Huang the world’s 14th wealthiest person with an estimated net worth of $99.8 billion. Su, meanwhile, has for five consecutive years been ranked the highest-paid female CEO in the U.S.

    Their recent announcements indicate a turning point in the tech industry, according to Johnson. “The pace of innovation is faster, and specifically the pace of product releases,” he said, adding that the developments are all the more impressive coming from Huang and Su. “It’s a pretty amazing thing, this day in the history of the world, to look up and see two Americans who were born in Taiwan leading innovation, really changing the world—and back in Taiwan talking about it.”

    Zuerst einmal muss natürlich gesagt werden dass es sich beim ROG Ally X nicht um einen Nachfolger des ROG Ally handelt, sondern eher um ein zusätzliches Modell.

    Der ROG Ally X verfügt über den gleichen Prozessor wie der ROG Ally, nämlich den AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme. Beim RAM hat ASUS aber aufgestockt und bietet nun statt 16 GB direkt 24 GB LPDDR5X 7.500 MHz RAM an. Dazu noch 1TB SSD und diese ist nun noch einfacher erweiterbar, denn es werden M.2 2280er SSDs unterstützt. Darüberhinaus verfügt der Ally X nun auch über zwei USB-C Ports, einmal USB 4.0 und einmal USB 3.2. So kann man auch endlich den Handheld aufladen und dennoch ein weiteres Gerät per USB nutzen. Das ist auf jeden Fall sehr praktisch.

    Ansonsten wurde auch das Design etwas geändert, man hat auf die Nutzer gehört und den Handheld etwas ergonomischer gestaltet. Er kommt nun auch in einem schwarzen Gehäuse um sich etwas von den älteren Modellen abzusetzen.

    Mit Einführung des ROG Ally X hat ASUS aber noch einmal betont, dass der ROG Ally noch lange nicht zum alten Eisen gehört. Er ist auch weiterhin ein sehr leistungsfähiger Gaming-Handheld. Wer aber noch etwas mehr aus seinem Gerät herauskitzeln möchte, greift nun wohl besser zum ROG Ally X.

    Den ROG Ally X kann man bereits jetzt vorbestellen und er soll im kommenden Monat auf den Markt kommen. Die UVP beträgt 899 Euro.

    One of the standout products unveiled is the S2301 CXL memory expansion server. With twelve DDR5 RDIMM slots and four PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, it can handle triple-slot GPUs, making it ideal for complex AI computations.

    The CX271-S4056 is a 2U all-flash platform that supports two double-wide GPU cards. This system, powered by a single-socket AMD EPYC 9004 Series processor, is designed for AI inferencing and other GPU-intensive applications. It features up to 24 2.5-inch PCIe 5.0 U.2 NVMe drive bays, ensuring rapid processing speeds and superior performance across various applications.

    Multi-Node Server Platforms for High-Density Environments

    For high-density cloud and data center environments, MSI presented two multi-node server platforms.

    The CD360-S4051-X2 is a 3U 2-node server platform designed to accommodate next-generation high TDP server processors. Each node includes an AMD EPYC processor, twelve DDR5 RDIMM slots, and two optional double-wide PCIe 5.0 x16 slots for GPU cards. The platform also offers multiple NVMe drive bays for extensive storage options.

    The CD260-S4051-X4 is a more compact 2U 4-node server platform. Each node supports an AMD EPYC processor and includes twelve DDR5 RDIMM slots, two NVMe M.2 slots, and three 2.5-inch U.2 NVMe drive bays. Both platforms feature a front I/O design based on the OCP DC-MHS M-DNO architecture and support the DC-SCM2 Server Management Module, enhancing server serviceability and management flexibility.

    In wenigen Wochen findet in Taipeh die Computex 2024 statt, die wichtigste Techmesse Asiens. ASUS hat heute auch schon sein erstes Produkt für die Messe angeteasert, das ASUS Zenbook S.

    Für ASUS ist es natürlich ein Heimspiel, der taiwanische Hersteller nutzt die Computex immer für große Produktankündigungen und da macht auch die diesjährige Computex keine Ausnahme.

    Auf seinem Youtubekanal hat das Unternehmen heute das ASUS Zenbook S angeteasert.

    Wie es sich für ein Teaservideo gehört sehen wir das Notebook nie komplett, immer nur einige Nahaufnahmen und folgende Sätze:

    Design you can feel, Feel the innovative material, Feel unique, Feel enduring, Feel everlasting, Feel the AI capabilities, Feel Zenbook S.

    Halten wir also fest, es wird ein Notebook sein, welches besondere Materialien einsetzt. Dadurch soll es sich besonders gut anfühlen. Jetzt bin ich natürlich wirklich gespannt wie es sich denn anfühlen wird.

    Lange muss ich aber nicht warten, denn ASUS wird das Notebook am 3. Juni im Rahmen seiner Computex 2024 Pressekonferenz in Taipeh, Taiwan vorstellen. Die diesjährige Computex steht auch ganz im Zeichen des Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite Chips. Aktuell weiß ich natürlich nicht ob das Zenbook S über diesen Chip verfügen wird, allerdings hatte Qualcomm auf seinem Snapdragon Summit 2023 in einem Slide der Präsentation einige Partner aufgelistet, die Mitte 2024 ein Gerät mit Snapdragon X Elite vorstellen werden, darunter auch ASUS. Es wird also wahrscheinlich ein Notebook mit dem Qualcomm Chip von ASUS kommen, mal sehen ob es das Zenbook S oder ein anderes Gerät sein wird.
