  • Film Review: John Candy: I Like Me

John Candy: I Like Me is more than a documentary, it’s a heartfelt thank-you letter to one of comedy’s most beloved figures. The film opens by tracing Candy’s rise from his humble Canadian improv beginnings to his legendary Hollywood career, showing how his everyman charm and selfless spirit made him a household name.

It’s a beautiful tribute to an incredible man. A true icon. A man who never lost touch of who he was or where he came from. He was never too famous for anybody or anything. A true comedian who would invite any and all to share the stage with him. A man with a heart of gold built from his own traumas.

What is Twee Fashion? This 2010s Aesthetic is Offically Back

This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission if you purchase through our links. Please read our full disclosure here.

If you like to create a playful and quirky look with your outfits, you will love Twee fashion.

Twee fashion was popular in the 2010s. However, as we know, every trend comes back around again. As of this year, all things Twee are back in style.

If you’ve ever seen the TV show New Girl, you are probably familiar with the types of outfits that Zooey Deschanel wears on the show. She always seems to have cute and quirky outfits that stand out in a fun, playful way. These outfits are THE prime example of Twee fashion.

If you have never heard of or seen Twee style before, it’s all about vintage-inspired clothing, playful and quirky prints, and feminine and retro silhouettes.

So, if you are interested in getting the Zooey Deschanel look, read on to learn about the specific elements of Twee fashion, plus see outfit inspo and learn a few different ways that you can style your new Twee-inspired wardrobe.

    Key Elements of Twee Fashion

    Vintage-Inspired Clothing

If you like to wear vintage-inspired clothing or go thrifting, Twee fashion is for you! For this type of style, you want to seek out girly, classically feminine pieces reminiscent of the ’50s, ’60s, or ’70s feel.

For example, pieces like puff-sleeve tops or collared dresses are perfect for achieving a Twee-inspired wardrobe.

    Playful & Quirky Prints

You will also love this look if you like wearing colorful pieces or fun prints on your outfits! Everything goes when it comes to Twee fashion —it’s definitely for the maximalists out there.

With a Twee-inspired wardrobe, you can add and mix as many fun prints as you like and still look stylish while doing so.

    Feminine Silhouettes

Another defining feature of this look is feminine silhouettes.

When shopping for a Twee-inspired wardrobe, load up on cute skirts. You could also opt for flowy dresses with a cinched waist and fitted top to achieve a more classically feminine silhouette.

    Twee Fashion Outfit Ideas

    Vintage-Inspired Clothing

    Pleated Skirt

If you want a vintage-inspired skirt to add to your closet, check out this pleated midi skirt!

This high-waisted skirt has buttons to give it a more vintage look. It is also the perfect skirt to pair with a blouse or button-up shirt like this one for a twee-inspired outfit.

What you will also love about this outfit is that you can wear it as an everyday look or dress it up with some cute pumps.

    Peter Pan Dress

For those of us who like to wear dresses or would like a fancier outfit that matches the Twee style, I recommend a Peter Pan collar dress like this one.

A Peter Pan dress features a flat, rounded collar, giving it a vintage look. So, if you are looking for a dress you could wear with some cute heels to your next event that will show off your new Twee-inspired style, this is the piece for you.

    Ruffle Dress

A ruffle dress is another perfect choice for those trying to get the Twee-inspired look.

This ruffle dress would look adorable as an everyday outfit for class or errands. It has a cute print and vintage-inspired color and would look great with ballet flats or vintage-inspired boots.

    Playful & Quirky Prints

    Polka Dot Dress

If you like outfits with fun prints, you will love this element of Twee fashion. Playful and quirky prints are key to achieving this look.

For example, you may be interested in this adorable polka-dot dress! Polka dots are totally vintage-inspired, yet also classic, and will give your wardrobe that 2010s Twee feel.

Pair this dress with ballet flats or cute heels for a Twee-inspired outfit you could wear for any occasion.

    Pinafore Dress

Another type of dress that gives off that quirky and playful vibe of Twee fashion is the pinafore dress.

A pinafore dress like this one has an apron-like silhouette and usually has a shirt underneath to give it a layered look.

So, you can either buy a dress with a shirt already built into the design or buy a dress like this one, which allows you to choose which shirt you want to style it with.

And if you get a pinafore dress in a fun print like this plaid, it will add even more uniqueness to your Twee-inspired style!

    Cardigan Sweater

Another great Twee fashion staple is a cute cardigan sweater with a fun print.

For example, this sweater features an adorable cat design, making it fun and quirky. The color is also nice and bold, with a bit of a vintage feel.

You can use this sweater to add layers to your Twee outfits or you can wear it as a top to create an outfit with some cute pants and heels to dress up your look.

    Feminine & Retro Silhouettes

    Button-Down Skater Skirt

Every Twee girl needs a skater skirt in her wardrobe.

This skater skirt is fun, flowy, and feminine, with a button-down design. It’s unique but super cute and fits the Twee fashion aesthetic to a T.

Pair this skirt with some cute boots and a top for a casual everyday look that will show off your new Twee-inspired style.

    Puff-Sleeve Shirt

A puff-sleeve top like this one is another great piece to add to your wardrobe when trying to achieve the Twee look.

This puff-sleeve top can be worn with a colorful midi skirt, as seen above, to give you a Twee-inspired style a la Zooey Deschanel.

Add some cute vintage T-strap heels to make your look stand out even more.

    Ruched Dress

Twee girls everywhere will love this feminine ruched dress with a fun print.

This dress comes in a quirky, playful strawberry print that’s very Zooey Deschanel. The cut of this dress also has a retro feel that is perfect for achieving a Twee-inspired style.

Album Inspiration: Outfits Inspired by Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’

This post may contain affiliate links, which means we may receive a commission if you purchase through our links. Please read our full disclosure here.

This post will teach you everything you need to know about Taylor Swift’s ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ fashion, with outfits inspired by the new album.

About The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD)

The Tortured Poets Department. An anthology of new works that reflect events, opinions and sentiments from a fleeting and fatalistic moment in time – one that was both sensational and sorrowful in equal measure. This period of the author’s life is now over, the chapter closed and boarded up. There is nothing to avenge, no scores to settle once wounds have healed. And upon further reflection, a good number of them turned out to be self-inflicted. This writer is of the firm belief that our tears become holy in the form of ink on a page. Once we have spoken our saddest story, we can be free of it.

And then all that’s left behind is the tortured poetry.

    Taylor Swift

Oh boy, do we have things to go through!

The Tortured Poets Department (shortened TTPD) is Taylor Swift’s eleventh studio album. It was released on April 19th, just last Friday.

And what a week it was!

First of all, the album came out at the struck of midnight. Two hours later, Taylor revealed it was actually a *double album* and 15 more songs were released (The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology).

The double-album-truther Swifties have finally been redeemed!

This anthology includes all the bonus tracks of each of the physical variants: ‘The Black Dog,’ ‘The Manuscript,’ ‘The Albatross’, and ‘The Bolter.’ So, if you didn’t get one of them or any variant, you can still hear the bonus tracks by streaming the Anthology version of the album.

The new album’s lead single is ‘Fortnight,’ a collaboration between Taylor and Post Malone. The accompanying music video was also released on April 19th.

I’ve been listening to the album almost non-stop since it came out, and I’ve had certain lyrics and melodies stuck in my head for days. As expected, Taylor delivered a heart-wrenching tale.

The way I interpret it, the album is not about a single man or ex; it’s about finding your way back to yourself after a whirlwind of pain.

The album deals with extreme feelings of loneliness and isolation, of gilded cages, and still having to present yourself as being fine. And in the midst of all that, it’s about finding the wisdom to move on and let it all go.

    The Fashion of TTPD

As I mentioned in my I Dressed Like Taylor Swift post last week, Taylor has adopted the vintage, academia-inspired theme into her street style.

In the months leading up to the album’s release, Taylor has worn lots of prep school-inspired items, including pleated skirts, blazers, letterman jackets, loafers, and button-up shirts.

In true Taylor fashion, these combine with more sultry and trendier elements to balance the look. Things like corsets, mesh, cutouts, mini skirts, and dresses bring a fresh look to her outfits.

The album visuals include many vintage elements and looks, as seen in the ‘Fortnight’ video. High-neck blouses, balloon sleeves, ruffled long dresses and skirts, and ribbon chokers feature heavily.

For the album shoot, there are more sultry-type items. Lace, silk, mesh, and cotton are the fabrics for this one. All of them are in service of flowy, sensual loungewear items, which, in contrast, are paired with vintage-inspired corsets, ruffled skirts, and long dresses.

In general, the album and its promo have a very clear academia-inspired theme. Bookmarks, typewriters, quills, library cards (libraries in general, really), stationery, stamps, dry flowers, and letterman patches are all important visual items that are used in promotional material.

The Tortured Poets Department Fashion Guide

    Outfit 1: Fortnight (Black Look)

Who else is obsessed with this music video?

I loved the Dead Poets Society cameos, Post Malone’s black-and-white imagery, and Rodrigo Prieto’s cinematography.

And while Taylor wears a good number of outfits through it, enough that I could write an article dedicated to just the video looks, about half of them aren’t really Spring/Summer friendly.

So, I focused on the two most iconic outfits in the video. The first is the black mourning dress:

This look is very Victorian, fitting in with the whole vintage theme of the album visuals.

To create a modern/wearable version of this, start with a shimmery black blouse with a high neck and ruffles. Then, for the bottoms, go for a ruffled black skirt with an A-line fit.

For accessories, I love this black velvet purse to add another vintage-inspired fabric. Finally, for shoes, black lace-up heeled booties are the way to go to complete the Victorian outfit.

If you want to recreate this outfit, look for ruffles, dramatic sleeves, and A-line skirts. The shimmery fabric of the blouse kind of calls back to other outfits in the same music video, and it’s also breathable if you want to wear it during hot weather.

    Outfit 2: Fortnight (White Look)

Now, the second Fortnight look I chose is this white, maybe wedding-ish, ripped dress.

To create a similar look, start with a white corset top and pair it with a white tiered skirt in a midi length. (These skirts are trending like crazy this season!)

To accessorize, a black velvet choker with a jewel in the center brings in the luxe, gothic feel from other outfits in the music video.

Finally, for shoes, some white Mary Jane flats are the perfect balance of trendy, vintage-inspired, and practical.

This look draws from the Fortnight music video and other elements Taylor has been using for the album.

The corset has lace details, which were seen frequently in The Grove’s Spotify TTPD installation. These details tie into the wedding themes in some of the songs. The tiered skirt also has ruffles, although they are less dramatic than the ones on the black outfit.

Finally, the choker is very prominently featured throughout the music video. But I wanted it to be black instead of full-on white because I feel these outfits are two sides of the same coin, and bringing in the black ties them together.

Outfit 3: But Daddy I Love Him

‘But Daddy I Love Him’ is a scathing call-out to people who are judging a woman for a budding relationship with, at least in the eyes of those around her, an unsavory man.

In this song, Taylor literally reclaims the right to live her life and make her own decisions. It calls out anyone who uses the guise of “concern” to judge her relationship choices.

In the chorus of ‘But Daddy I Love Him,’ Taylor mentions ‘an open dress,’ so my mind immediately went to a beautiful summer dress.

To start, I decided on a midi cotton dress as a base. It is in a really beautiful (and trendy) buttery yellow color with a lilac flower print all over.

Then, for shoes, I love these off-white Mary Janes. Finally, a straw crossbody bag is both neutral and summery, and big sunglasses are perfect for hiding from the judgy ‘wine moms.’

The dress’s vintage-inspired cut and flowers bring elements of the album visuals to the forefront. The dress also has a tie-up detail, which calls back to the ‘open dress’ lyric. The Mary Janes are very vintage-preppy, keeping Taylor’s street style in mind.

Outfit 4: I Can Do It with a Broken Heart

The only way to describe ‘I Can Do It with a Broken Heart’ is sad bop. You’ll dance to it, but it has some of the saddest lyrics on the album.

In the song, Taylor talks about the dichotomy of putting on this energetic, careless, smiling mask while working (performing a concert) while being heartbroken and wanting to break down.

This outfit is very much inspired by one of Taylor’s most iconic The Eras Tour costumes. It’s also the most outwardly happy era during the concert: her Fearless golden dress. I was also reminded of her outfit at the concert’s end, namely the Midnights t-shirt dress and combat boots.

First, I chose a golden mini-dress that has some tassels.

Then, for shoes, I included two options: gold cowboy boots to reference the ‘working’ portion of the lyrics or black combat boots, AKA leaving work.

Finally, I added an oversized denim jacket to emulate a big comfort blanket for breaking down after the show.

Sincerely, The Chairman of the TTPD – Outfit #5

Finally, let’s talk about the Chairman herself, Taylor Swift. She posted this video for the Target-exclusive Clear Phantom variant promo.

In it, she’s wearing a pleated skirt, a sweater, tights, and loafers. Very Season 6 Rory Gilmore, if you ask me.

For this look, I chose a dark grey pleated mini-skirt and a navy blue crewneck sweater with a relaxed fit. These sheer black tights are very Taylor. I finished the look with chunky black loafers.

This outfit screams street-style, preppy Taylor. This is her current take on preppy, which can be seen in various variations throughout TTPD.

Bonus Outfit: Green Velvet Night-Out Look

Now, I made you a promise in last week’s Taylor Swift street style post: When the crushed velvet dress arrived, I’d include it in my next article.

And guess what? It arrived the day before TTPD was released!

After being stuck in transit for almost a week for no particular reason, Tayvoodoo struck again, and it arrived exactly for that weekend.

To recreate Taylor’s crushed velvet dress look, I managed to get my hands on this beautiful green crushed velvet dress that looks just like Taylor’s.

Then I added a pair of slouchy, cognac over-the-knee boots. Taylor’s are leather and have a snake drawn on them, but I already had these suede ones that matched both the fit and color.

For my accessories, I added my gold rings and a layered coin necklace; then, I grabbed a black structured bag to finish the look.

Let me just say that this dress was worth the wait! It is so beautiful, it’s olive green, but it has this sort of goldish hue when you move. It’s soft and so comfortable.

In general, this look is very much for Fall/Winter. I wore it the day after the dress arrived, and it was so warm out that I had to switch the boots midday for a pair of loafers. The dress is breathable enough that you could get away with wearing it in Spring but not in Summer.

    Final Thoughts

How much did I cry when I first heard loml? I can understand perfectly the sentiment of someone being ‘the loss of your life’ and feeling like you were just used and discarded while being promised a lifetime.

And the incredibly cathartic I Can Do It with a Broken Heart? That took me right back to being 23, completely heartbroken, and still showing up the next day to the office and school, crying in the bathroom whenever I could.

Listening to The Prophecy, I was 25 and screaming at the sky for someone I could share my life with, without knowing that I would meet him just in a few months.

And even now, listening to The Alchemy and So High School while I’m in an amazing relationship with the best guy I’ve ever known… how could I think of anyone else but him while interpreting that song?

I’m just incredibly grateful that Taylor has found the words to describe those feelings and has given me a new arsenal of songs that can help me heal, process, and let go of my own experiences.

Personally, I don’t want to dissect the songs through the lens of who inspired them and try to reframe her past albums to fit this narrative. As she said in the very last song, The Manuscript, ‘the story isn’t mine anymore.’

The songs are now out there for us to reinterpret through our own lives. Because that’s what art is for.

Yes, there are Easter eggs. But, during the album, she also tells us, almost screaming, that we need to let go of reinterpreting, picking apart, and hyper-analyzing her life. Reinterpret the songs for yourself, to enrich your inner world, to find a lifeline, to connect with others, but leave Taylor’s life to her. She already closed that chapter.

I also appreciate Taylor’s attention to detail, giving us hints about the songs’ titles through her accessories and clothes, the music videos, and the tiny details that give Swifties special messages or announcements.

So, take the fashion, the fun, the lyrics, and the music. Feel them, cry and laugh with them, and find the literary references and the bars.

Make it your own. Just like you would the outfits.

    What Do You Think?

I Dressed Like Taylor Swift for a Week TTPD Main Image

Who else is counting down the minutes until the release of Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department?

This week, in honor of the album’s release, I copied Taylor Swift’s most recent 2024 street style outfits.

Read on to see how it went!

    About The Tortured Poets Department

The Tortured Poets Department (shortened TTPD) is Taylor Swift’s eleventh studio album. It will be released on April 19th (AKA in a few hours, as of this publishing date).

This new album was announced in true Taylor fashion… while receiving a Grammy for her previous album, Midnights (2022).

We know nothing about the album’s sound since no singles have been released.

What we do know is, Taylor described TTPD as a lifeline album during The Eras Tour. It is rumored to be a mix of reputation (2017) and Red (Taylor’s Version) (2021).

The album’s concept is the five stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. Taylor even created playlists for Apple Music based on this concept, using her previous (self-owned) albums.

And, in keeping with this theme, there are five variations of the album.

TTPD will consist of sixteen songs, two of which feature other artists, plus a bonus track.

Fortnight, the opening track, features Post Malone. The song Florida! is Taylor’s long-awaited collaboration with Florence and the Machine.

Finally, there are four possible bonus tracks: The Manuscript, The Bolter, The Albatross, and The Black Dog. Each album variation is named after one of these tracks and includes just that one bonus song.

    Taylor’s TTPD Style

As is her tradition, Taylor’s street style gives little clues as to the aesthetic of her next era.

Now that we know she was entering her ‘Tortured Poet’ era, all her preppy but sultry items from late 2023 and early 2024 start to make sense.

In contrast to the Midnights 70s glam and boho theme, TTPD has toned down the color palette with lots of neutrals, especially white, navy blue, and shades of brown.

Taylor has worn a ton of preppy items before, but unlike her Red-hipster take and 1989’s 50s aesthetic, her TTPD clothing seems a lot more casual.

During this era, Taylor has worn a lot of oversized blazers, loose-fitting shirts and jackets, maxi-length coats, and dresses. Think The Row, which has become her go-to brand for basics.

All this is combined with sexy items like corset tops, mesh and cutouts in strategic places, and mini-skirts, especially if they are pleated.

And, best believe she’s still bejeweled. Glitter, rhinestones, and jewelry are regularly featured in her recent looks.

Taylor Swift’s TTPD Street Style Outfits Guide

Outfit 1: Monday, Laid-back at the Studio

We’ve been seeing pictures of Taylor going to the studio throughout The Eras Tour, and we now know that she was recording TTPD.

Most of her recent looks for recording follow the same formula: simple, comfortable, low-key.

I chose to copy this navy blue and black studio look first.

I Dressed Like Taylor Swift for a Week TTPD Outfit #1: Black tank top, blue cargo pants, black platform Chelsea Boots, baseball capI Dressed Like Taylor Swift for a Week TTPD Outfit #1: Black tank top, blue cargo pants, black platform Chelsea Boots, baseball cap

For my version of this outfit, I started with a similar base: a black cotton tank top and navy-blue cargo pants. I borrowed both from my sister.

Then, I added black platform Chelsea boots for some edge.

Finally, I accessorized with a black and red baseball cap. Taylor’s is beige, but I had this black one on hand, and I thought the red accent tied into *other* outfits she’s been wearing lately.

At first, I thought I wouldn’t like this look. It is not my style, to say the least.

But, after putting it on and going through my day with it, I actually like it a lot.

It is so comfortable, especially if you spend a lot of time sitting down (which I do), but it is put-together enough that you can go out in it and not look like you just rolled out of bed.

And I love the pants! So much! I will either get a pair or keep stealing my sister’s.

    Outfit 2: Tuesday, Preppy Neutral

For the past year, Taylor has been rocking cool preppy items at night, giving us all a lesson on wearing polished pieces. Especially blazers and loafers.

For my Tuesday movie night look, I chose Taylor’s navy and white take on neutrals.

I Dressed Like Taylor Swift for a Week TTPD Outfit #2: white cotton dress, navy blue blaser, brown booties, brown tightsI Dressed Like Taylor Swift for a Week TTPD Outfit #2: white cotton dress, navy blue blaser, brown booties, brown tights

To create this outfit, I started with a white cotton dress. It is a bit busier in details than Taylor’s, but it has an A-line skirt like hers, plus the right color and length.

Then, I threw on a vintage navy blue blazer. The blazer is my mom’s, but it hasn’t returned to her closet for several months now. It has the perfect length and fit for this look.

For tights, I went with a pair of sheer brown ones.

Now, the shoes are where I let you down. I don’t have a pair of loafer heels, so instead, I went with a pair of brown lace-up booties to use the same color palette.

The verdict? I can’t get enough of how cute this outfit is!

It is simple and comfortable, perfect for the A/C inside a movie theater. The dress and the blazer are the perfect length to work together. With the tights and layers, it wasn’t the *best* look for a warm spring day, but I got away with it.

My only regret now is that I don’t have the right pair of shoes, which I’ve been looking for since last year. I just haven’t found the right pair for me.

Outfit 3: Wednesday, Preppy Date Night

As I mentioned above, Taylor loves her mini-skirts and loafers. It seems that every two out of three street-style outfits, she’s wearing a mini-skirt.

I have to say, I’m loving this, especially for Spring/Summer.

One of her latest is this blue and beige ensemble, which I copied next:

I Dressed Like Taylor Swift for a Week TTPD Outfit #3: Sky blue sweater, pleated brown skirt, cognac loafers, brown bag, sunglassesI Dressed Like Taylor Swift for a Week TTPD Outfit #3: Sky blue sweater, pleated brown skirt, cognac loafers, brown bag, sunglasses

First, I wore a sky-blue sweater. I borrowed it from my sister. The sweater is a little cropped, but it works in my favor for this look.

Then, I went with this brown, pleated mini-skirt. You might remember I got this one for my last Taylor Swift post. Taylor’s skirt is just beige, but I already had this one, and I thought it worked.

For shoes, I wore cognac loafers, which kind of matched the brown on hers. For accessories, I chose a cognac crossbody purse and black sunglasses.

This is a confusing look but a cute one.

It’s confusing because the sweater is more for Fall, and the mini-skirt is really not. But they look cute together, and I love wearing blue and brown in general.

One less-ideal note: This skirt is really short, and it isn’t very comfortable to wear when you’re sitting down to work all day. I spent a lot of time readjusting it and trying to keep it from riding up. This is a standing-up skirt, through and through.

If I wore this again, I would add a white or beige shirt and tie the sweater around my shoulders. But I’m thankful Taylor inspired me to try new looks with this combo.

Outfit 4: Thursday, Karma is the Guy on the Chiefs

Oh, how things have changed in just a couple of months.

Back in October, we knew Taylor was going out with Travis, so we started to get invested. And then, she had us all watching the Super Bowl for the actual game and rooting for the Chiefs.

The moment I saw Taylor’s Super Bowl look, I knew I had to include it in my next Taylor post.

I Dressed Like Taylor Swift for a Week TTPD Outfit #4: Black corset top, black bejeweled jeans, black sock booties, red jacketI Dressed Like Taylor Swift for a Week TTPD Outfit #4: Black corset top, black bejeweled jeans, black sock booties, red jacket

Getting this look together was easier than I thought.

First, I wore a black corset top with a pair of black mom jeans with cutouts and rhinestones. Then, I added a red velvet oversized jacket.

For shoes, I put on a pair of sleek, black sock booties.

For this one, accessories and hair are really important. So, I did my hair in a ponytail and added tiny braids.

For accessories, I used my gold rings, gold diamond necklace, and a pair of ladybug earrings to tie in the red. The earrings were courtesy of my boyfriend as an anniversary gift.

Is this my favorite look? Yes, by a mile.

I think it looks amazing, it’s surprisingly comfortable, and I love how hot I look. It’s an amazing date night outfit.

Bonus points: I sourced all the items from local stores. This means they’re all Mexican brands or stores, except the booties, which I’ve had for years.

For the jeans, I found a store that makes personalized items, some of them bejeweled denim. So, I ordered my jeans from them in my exact size and specifications.

The jacket is from a Mexican vintage and second-hand shop.

The corset was the last item I got. It is from a small boutique that’s not in my city, but they sent it in just days, and it’s so comfortable.

Outfit 5: Friday, The Tortured Poets Department

We got to the last day. For this one, I wanted to emulate the album itself, namely the variations, the color palette, and the overall look and feel.

I created the following outfit based on the different colors Taylor used for the variants and the photos in them.

I Dressed Like Taylor Swift for a Week TTPD Outfit #5: Black tank top, white shirt, charcoal jeans, black loafersI Dressed Like Taylor Swift for a Week TTPD Outfit #5: Black tank top, white shirt, charcoal jeans, black loafers

First, I created a base from black (The Black Dog) and charcoal (The Albatross). I wore a black tank top and a pair of charcoal loose fit jeans.

Then, I threw on an oversized white shirt, which brings in both a color variant (The Manuscript) and a direct reference to The Albatross’ photoshoot.

For shoes, I followed Taylor’s lead and went with a pair of black chunky loafers. Finally, I kept my gold jewelry on to reference The Bolter variant.

Out of all the outfits, I would say this is both the trendiest and the most wearable for most people. And I really love it! It is also the only one I have re-worn since.

It is comfortable, it is literally made up of basic neutral items, and it’s perfect to go from Winter to Spring. I wore it all day to work from home and then had a chill date night with my boyfriend.

    Final Thoughts

Taylor Swift’s street style is a great mix of high-street and high-end.

In any given outfit, she’s probably wearing some things you can find at any mall, right up next to her exclusive designer pieces. And she makes it look effortless.

She also wears a lot of indie brands for jewelry, clothing, and bags. So, if you’re looking for new brands or exciting new designers, Taylor is the right celebrity to keep your eye on.

I must confess, she influences my style a lot, and I’ve bought some *exact* items of hers. Like the green velvet dress she wore back in January.

(Fun fact: I got it and was planning to wear it for this post. It hasn’t arrived yet. I will include it in a future post, though. It’s a promise!)

However, just because Taylor wears high-street or indie brands doesn’t mean everything is affordable for everyone. Her style is still on the expensive side.

Please be smart with your money, and don’t get discouraged if someone says that something Taylor is wearing is available online. Because obtainable isn’t the same as affordable!

Thankfully, a lot of what she wears is a bit simpler to find a good version of somewhere else, or you probably have something in your closet.

Finally, I’m beyond excited for TTPD! The theme is so heartbreaking yet encouraging, the track list is exciting, and I can’t wait to see how this album changes or affects the tour.

If it does, I might have to get tickets for a third time!

Rest assured, I will be back with a deep dive into the album (and fashion guide) after the release. So, be on the lookout 😉.

In honor of the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version), I’m showing you how to copy Taylor Swift’s Fall 2023 outfits.

We’ve all looked to celebrity style for fashion inspiration at some point in our lives. But it’s one thing to say, “I love her outfit,” and it’s another to actually copy it in real life.

For this series, I’m going the extra mile and making it happen. Each week, I’m getting inspiration from a celebrity and copying five of her looks as closely as possible. Then, I’m reporting back to you: Did the outfits work in real life? Did I feel comfortable? Did people treat me differently? I’m sharing it all.

This week, in honor of the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version), I copied Taylor Swift’s 2023 Autumn/Winter street-style outfits.

(For my past Taylor Swift posts, see my guides to All Too Well outfitsTaylor Swift’s street styleTaylor Swift eras outfitsEvermore outfitsFolklore outfitsMidnights Mayhem With Me outfitsThe Eras Tour outfits, and Taylor Swift’s 2023 Spring/Summer street-style.)

    About Taylor’s Version

After Taylor Swift left Big Machine in 2018, she wanted to either buy her master recordings or the record label itself. Big Machine wanted her to sign another six-album contract that would transfer the masters to her slowly over time and never offered Taylor the chance to buy them outright.

Knowing that Republic Records (her current label) would at least give her ownership of her future work, she signed with them and moved on. Then, Big Machine’s CEO Scott Borchetta sold the label to Ithaca Holdings, Scooter Braun’s company. Braun is a former manager and friend of Kanye West, resulting in a man she doesn’t like — and who doesn’t like her — owning eleven years of her work. While she was angry about this, she decided to re-record her songs later in 2020 to get them back.

Taylor took up the challenge to rerecord all six albums after declining to become an equity partner with Shamrock Records after Braun sold her back catalog to the firm. As of late 2020, Taylor has begun re-recording her first six albums: Debut, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989, and reputation.

Each rerecorded album includes previously unreleased songs, known as the From The Vault songs, and new collaborations with other artists.

The order of the re-recordings is Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), and, finally, her pop debut, 1989 (Taylor’s Version).

    About 1989 (Taylor’s Version)

Back on October 27th, 2014, Taylor Swift’s fifth album, 1989, was released. 1989 was Taylor’s first pop album. While she had dabbled with it in previous ones, they were still considered country-pop albums. And it skyrocketed Swift to a completely new level of celebrity.

Considered her first mainstream release, 1989 was everywhere. Taylor became the first artist with two albums that had sold over a million copies within a week. Her eight-month 1989 World Tour was the highest-grossing tour of 2015.

The re-recording was announced on August 9th, 2023. It was the last night of her US leg of The Eras Tour in Los Angeles. And I’m happy to say that I was there when she announced it! From the very first blue dress, the excitement for a now inevitable announcement was buzzing all over SoFi Stadium. It was a really magical and special moment that I’ll never forget.

1989 (Taylor’s Version) has sixteen previously released songs and five From The Vault songs. The Deluxe version includes the only collaboration on the album, Bad Blood FT Kendrick Lamar. Finally, Sweeter Than Fiction (Taylor’s Version) is included in the Target exclusive Tangerine edition.

Swipe to slides 5 and 8 for the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) announcement.

I think it’s safe to say 1989 was Taylor’s biggest album before folklore and Midnights. She became part of the cultural zeitgeist, for better or worse.

During the 1989 era, Taylor was more polarizing and hated than ever. Her face and name were used as quick clickbait by all media, leading to an oversaturation and even more backlash. Whether it was her all-female group of friends, her dating life, her body, or the themes for her songs, Taylor was targeted like never before.

But her fans stayed and loved the album. Swifties embraced her new sound and fell in love with her tongue-in-cheek humor, vulnerability, and masterful lyricism.

1989 (Taylor’s Version) is an ode to early adulthood. It’s an album about a newly discovered freedom and the excitement it brings, but also all the uncertainty and loneliness that come with it.

Taylor Swift’s 2023 Fall Outfits Guide

Continuing the trend we saw this Spring/Summer, Taylor has given us many great street-style moments. Whether she is going out with her friends, going to football games ;), or, again, going in and out of the studio, she has given winks to her style during her 1989 era.

Taylor has re-worn a lot of pieces previously worn in 2014-2016. The preppy style that marked the 1989 era is back but with a more mature style. In contrast with her polished crop top and heels outfit combo from that era, Taylor also incorporates more edgy, casual, and loose-fitting items with more comfortable shoes, like sneakers and boots.

Now that we’re transiting to colder weather, she has worn a lot of light layers with knit, denim, and mesh. Short skirts contrasted with boots and loafers have entered the rotation. Also, corsets, tailored pieces, and athleisure items have become a must. Most of the time, she’s also wearing warm neutrals with accents of color, especially red.

    Monday – Outfit #1

For my first look of the week, I wanted to recreate something that was a mix of the 1989 original era and the Taylor’s Version era. And this look is it.

Taylor’s wearing a blue sweater, plaid skirt, black booties, and a crossbody bag. The moment I saw this look, I knew I had to recreate it.

For my version of this look, I first wore a navy blue sweatshirt. Then, I paired it with a plaid mini skirt. The skirt is in shades of brown and is pleated. For shoes, I put on a pair of black combat boots with silver details. Finally, I accessorized with a warm brown crossbody bag.

My outfit slightly differs in the items, but it’s a very close recreation with minimal shopping. The only thing I bought was a skirt. (I did buy it for this post, but I have been looking for an excuse to replace one that doesn’t fit me anymore.)

Taylor’s skirt is a deconstructed denim and plaid skirt. I found this plaid one that was very similar to the part of hers that you can actually see. The rest of the items I’ve had for years, but they’re basics, so they are easy to find.

Taylor Swift Street Style Recreations: blue sweatshirt, plaid mini skirt, combat boots, brown crossbody bagTaylor Swift Street Style Recreations: blue sweatshirt, plaid mini skirt, combat boots, brown crossbody bag
    Your VersionSweatshirt, Skirt, Boots, Bag

Overall, I think it’s a simple-yet-cool outfit. Personally, I would’ve tucked in the sweatshirt, but I’ve been loving the not-tucking trend; it’s very comfortable.

Obviously, this outfit is not for the coldest days of Winter or even Autumn, but with the colors and materials in it, tights and a warm coat wouldn’t look out of place.

And, quick FYI, I work from home, so I could wear this as-is. But, if there are any dress codes in your work or you don’t feel comfortable with a mini skirt, adding tights is also a great option for a casual office.

    Tuesday – Outfit #2

To tackle my next outfit, I had to do a red and black football moment. In recent months, Taylor has given us a masterclass on put-together, comfortable looks to wear to a game.

In this look, Taylor is wearing a red sweatshirt, a red t-shirt, a faux leather skirt, and two shoe options: heeled loafers or white sneakers.

[For a more in-depth guide to what to wear to a football game, inspired in part by Taylor, read this post!]

To create my outfit, I started with a basic red t-shirt. Mine is not oversized like hers, but it’s my only one. Then, I wore a faux leather, black, pleated mini skirt. For layering, I threw on a red sweater. Finally, I used white socks and a pair of white Nike sneakers.

For this one, I bought the skirt too. The reasoning was the same as the previous one: the one I had didn’t fit me at all anymore, and I kept putting off buying a new one that did. My body has changed, and I guess this post was the first step to finally let go of a lot of things I had been holding on to that stopped fitting a long time ago.

I thought about getting a red sweatshirt for this, but I couldn’t find one that would arrive on time for this post and that I would love to wear for years ahead. The same with the sneakers. Taylor is wearing really pretty red and white Nike sneakers, but I’d rather wait for a Black Friday deal on those.

This outfit was cute. This one feels like the perfect transition outfit between Red, 1989, and reputation. It’s fun and so preppy.

For wearability, it doesn’t get easier or comfier than this. But, just like my previous look, it is for the warmer days in Autumn and Winter.

I don’t live in a place that gets really, really cold, so thin layers, like this sweater, are fine to get through the day. To style it my way for a colder day, I would switch the t-shirt for a red turtleneck and even add red tights. If it gets too cold for me, a coat, preferably red, would be my solution.

    Wednesday – Outfit #3

Wednesday arrived, and Taylor came with the perfect lazy but put-together outfit. She is wearing a rugby shirt, knee-high boots, a coat, and, again, a crossbody bag.

To create this look, I wore a black rugby polo shirt. This one is actually from the Men’s section, so it’s not a true oversized item; it’s just a big one. I threw on a yellow suede coat that resembled her toffee-colored coat a bit.

Then, I had a bit of a debate about the shoes. I had two options: a pair of riding boots in the right material and knee height and a pair of over-the-knee boots that I could scrunch down but were suede and a different shade of brown.

I ended up choosing the brown riding boots. In my mind, they were closer to what she was wearing than my other options. Again, I accessorized with a brown crossbody bag.

The first time I saw Taylor in this look, I couldn’t believe it. I had just bought this black rugby shirt, and it was on its way when these photos hit the internet. So, I knew I had to do this one. I don’t like big emblems or logos, so mine is not an exact dupe, but if you want something closer to hers, H&M has a pretty good dupe.

Not going to lie; this is, again, an amazing early Autumn outfit. It was extremely comfortable and cute. I didn’t wear the coat all day, just when I went out to run errands in the afternoon. If I had used the heeled boots, the comfort levels would’ve decreased, but the Preppy Taylor vibes would’ve been much higher.

    Thursday – Outfit #4

The week was almost over, and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) had been playing non-stop in my house for almost a week. In the look below, Taylor’s wearing a colorful mesh top, a faux-leather mini skirt, black booties, and a corset.

For my version of this date night look, I wore a simple black camisole. Then, I layered with a blue, long-sleeved mesh top. For bottoms, I wore the same faux-leather, pleated mini skirt I used for Tuesday’s look. I didn’t tuck the shirt in, just like she didn’t.

Finally, I wore my black Doc Martens as my version of black lace-up booties and also tried to style my hair in two buns like Taylor’s.

Taylor Swift Street Style Recreations: Long sleeve mesh top, faux leather mini skirt, black Doc Marten bootsTaylor Swift Street Style Recreations: Long sleeve mesh top, faux leather mini skirt, black Doc Marten boots
    Your VersionSkirt, Top, Boots, Corset

This look was cute, but I had to compromise a lot to create it.

First, I compromised on color. I just couldn’t find a good reason to get a green mesh top when I already had this similar top. Then, the style of the skirt was different, but again, I had this one already, and that was enough for me. Finally, the corset. I do have one, but it looked really weird when I wore it under the shirt.

When these photos came out, I saw someone describe this look as “folklore going out,” and I definitely saw why. It was a very edgy look, more reminiscent of other albums to me than 1989. But, inadvertently, I think with the snake print, I created a reputation-era look.

    Friday – Outfit #5

Finally, it was Friday. And date night too. So, why not copy one of the *official* date night looks Taylor wore to go out with Travis Kelce? She is wearing a corset top, tailored pants, heels, and a coat.

To create this look, I put on a black corset. Then, I used a pair of black pin-stripe pants. The pants have a loose fit and a high waist. As for shoes, I wore black heels. Finally, I layered with a grey tailored coat and accessorized with a gold chain necklace.

Taylor Swift Street Style Recreations: black corset, back tailored pants, plaid tailored coat, black high heels, gold necklaceTaylor Swift Street Style Recreations: black corset, back tailored pants, plaid tailored coat, black high heels, gold necklace
    Your VersionCorset, Pants, Heels, Coat

To create this look, weirdly, I already had everything I needed. My corset is slightly different; Taylor’s has gold chains as straps, and mine is strapless. There are other slight differences. For example, my pants are pinstripe, and my coat is more structured.

Overall, I had pretty good dupes for everything she was wearing. My take on this one would be that maybe you only need to buy the corset.

This is a hot outfit. And I loved it. I honestly think I looked awesome. However, I tried wearing it in the early morning, but I quickly changed my top and shoes. To be able to work and be comfortable throughout the day, I swapped in a black sweatshirt and sneakers. When it was time to go out, I changed into the actual outfit.

That’s the biggest thing: this is *just* a going-out look. If I were to make it more wearable for every day, I would add a shirt under the corset and use booties or sneakers instead of heels.

    Final Thoughts

    I loved 1989 (Taylor’s Version) week!

Do not come at me, but 1989 has always been my least favorite Taylor album. I do like the album; it just ranks lower to me than her other albums. That being said, some of my all-time favorite Taylor songs are from this album, like You Are In Love, Clean, and New Romantics.

Now, with the rerecording, I have listened to it back-to-back for the first time in years, and my outlook on it has changed. This rerecording has forced me to look back on these past nine years and how much I tried to do the same thing Taylor did: reinvent myself to find out who I was.

Now, in hindsight, I can relate to many of the themes and emotions Taylor brought up in 1989. Especially having gone through early adulthood and all the changes it brings. The need for reinvention comes with becoming an adult and figuring out who you are, what you want, and where you want to go in life.

With the rerecording, I also find the sound is cleaner and the production is more crisp, but still very much from its time. form the new songs, my favorite ones are probably Is It Over Now?, Now That We Don’t Talk, and Slut!.

This week was fun. I loved the outfits, and Taylor has been giving us some major fashion inspiration lately. Now that her Latin American leg of the tour will continue, I’m curious to see how her street style will be or if there are any costume changes within the show.

One of my favorite things about Taylor’s style is that it is truly her own, even when trying to convey different eras or drop little Easter eggs. She is known to wear things in her own way, even if that means wearing items backward or styling them in a different way than intended (e.g., a rugby shirt as a dress).

If you’re looking for inspiration to freshen up your Autumn/Winter wardrobe, look no further than Ms. Swift. With little tweaks, most of her outfits are wearable on cold days. In general, a lot of the items you probably have already. Even if you don’t have a specific item, Taylor mixes a lot of designer with high-street, so finding either dupes or exact items is not hard.

What do you think of Taylor Swift’s fall outfits for 2023?

What do you think about 1989 (Taylor’s Version)? Do you like Taylor’s recent street style? Which recreation is your favorite? Would you wear any of these looks? Let us know in the comments below!

Katharine McPhee And David Foster Discuss The Perks Of Touring Together And New Holiday Album

Katharine McPhee and David Foster are enjoying the perks of touring together, their new single “Amazing Grace” — which is set to be released tomorrow, Oct. 6 — and being parents!

ET got an exclusive sneak peek at McPhee and Foster’s debut single together, which caused a bit of back and forth between them when it came to deciding on having it on the album.

“We argued a little bit, not in the bad way,” McPhee tells ET. “It’s a bit of a debate over whether we should do ‘Amazing Grace’ because I said, ‘It’s not a Christmas song, it’s a religious song.’ The label ended up actually really liking it because we’re using it as our first single to kind of get out there, kind of earlier before the whole Christmas craze without it beating you over the head that it’s a Christmas song. So it’s actually kind of cool that we did it.”

“Amazing Grace” will be featured in the second part of their Christmas Songs album — which is set to be released Oct. 20.

“We got a nice response from the first seven songs so we thought, ‘Oh, people are kinda digging this,” Foster says. “Volume two, we’ll just complete the whole thing,” McPhee adds. “A couple of my girlfriends are like, ‘You’re doing another Christmas album?’ I’m like, ‘No, this is a completion of the first Christmas album.’”

The musical duo have also been together on the road this year as part of the star-studded “David and Friends” Tour. The tour is set to make a run in North America next month.

“It’s been great,” Foster says about hitting the road with his wife. “It’s a bit of a shlep.”

“Being together has not been the shlep,” McPhee reiterates. “Just the constant packing and unpacking. You wake up in a new city every day and it’s just a grind. That’s the only part that sometimes wears on you. And you just want to be in your own bed. But when we’re onstage for those two hours it’s the best part of the whole thing.”

Just in time for the holidays, the pair will be home and off the road, and ready to get into their traditions.

“We started this tradition in the desert of having all of my family and all of her family together. We would rent a house,” Foster says of Thanksgiving. “And we did that last year. We’re gonna do it again this year.”

“We just have a great weekend with playing tennis and pickleball and the family’s all together and we do two big meals,” he adds. “And then for Christmas I don’t know, like, we’re gonna be in this new house and we’re gonna have new memories to create.”

  • Jason Derulo Accused Of Sexual Harassment By Aspiring Singer In Lawsuit

Jason Derulo Accused Of Sexual Harassment By Aspiring Singer In Lawsuit

Jason Derulo is being sued by a woman claiming he signed her to his record label but then terminated her deal after she continually refused his alleged sexual advances.

Emaza Gibson filed court documents in Los Angeles County Superior Court claiming the “Talk Dirty” singer “maliciously promised” to make her a successful singer when he contacted her in August 2021 about joining his new record label. In court documents, obtained by ET, Gibson claims Derulo told her that, as part of the new record label, he needed to find a new artist and he chose her.

Gibson claims she eagerly accepted Derulo’s offer to work for him and as part of the deal he “promised to make multiple music albums with [her].” She claims he officially became her mentor and supervisor in November 2021. But things quickly went downhill from there, she claims.

While recording music one day, Gibson claims Derulo told her that “if she wanted to be successful in ‘this business’ (aka, the music industry), [Gibson] would be required to partake in ‘goat skin and fish scales,’ which is a Haitian reference referring to conducting sex rituals, sacrificing a goat, goat blood and doing cocaine.”

ET has reached out to Derulo for comment.

Gibson claims that the manner and timing of such a statement meant that Derulo was demanding sexual acts from her in order for Derulo to fulfill his role as her mentor, supervisor and musical collaborator.

“This explicit demand for sex-in-exchange-for-success was reinforced through Derulo’s subsequent behavior,” the court documents state.

Gibson claims Derulo, through text messages, repeatedly invited her to have drinks and dinner with him at a “member’s only lounge” on multiple occasions, but she declined and insisted on keeping their relationship purely professional.

  • Reba McEntire On Collaborating With Dolly Parton, Looking ‘Tough Sexy’ And Living ‘Not That Fancy’

Reba McEntire On Collaborating With Dolly Parton, Looking ‘Tough Sexy’ And Living ‘Not That Fancy’

By MARIA SHERMAN, The Associated Press.

Want to live like Reba McEntire? You’re in luck.

On Friday, the country music and entertainment icon will release a new album to partner with her new book, Not That Fancy: Simple Lessons on Living, Loving, Eating, and Dusting Off Your Boots.

The book, which arrives Tuesday, is a collection of recipes, memoir, photos, and lifestyle tips. The Not That Fancy album is a collection of acoustic covers of McEntire’s biggest hits, with a few surprises thrown in, like Dolly Parton, who takes the place of Linda Davis on “Does He Love You”.

The book, McEntire explained over the phone, is “about things not having to be so fancy or structured. Whether it’s a dinner party or going out to eat, having friends over. If you don’t have your brand-new couch in, you’ve got to cover your old couch, that’s fine. People don’t care. They just want to get together and have fun.”

Re-recording some of her most recognizable songs in an intimate fashion just felt like the perfect partner for a book that already crosses mediums. “It’s not just a cookbook. It’s not just a photo album. It’s not a storybook. It’s an eclectic group of everything,” she explains.

“And I had to proofread it, so I went through it several times and never got bored with it. And I have the attention span of a 3-year-old, so for me not to get bored with it is a huge compliment to the book.”

McEntire spoke to The Associated Press about her new album, book, and dressing “tough sexy.”

This interview has been edited for clarity and brevity.

AP: The book came first, then the album. Where did the idea for acoustic covers originate?

McENTIRE: We had done (the compilation album) Remixed, Revised and Revisited, and so we pulled some of those songs. Working with (producer) Dave Cobb, that was an album that was stripped down, that we wanted to pull from. And we added some more songs to it, brand new songs, which is our new single called “Seven Minutes in Heaven”. And it just worked out really good to be “not that fancy.”

AP: Dolly Parton takes the place of Linda Davis on this version of “Does He Love You”. How did the collaboration come to be?

McENTIRE: Well, we were picking out the songs for the album, “Does He Love You” came up and we were all like, “Well, if we did it again, who we like to have sing with you?” We all started pitching names and put them in the hat. When somebody said “Dolly,” everybody just said, “Oh, absolutely, we got to ask Dolly.” And she said, yes.

AP: So, it didn’t take much convincing?

    McENTIRE: I hope not, anyway!

AP: Brooks & Dunn joined you again for “If You See Him/If You See Her”.

McENTIRE: We all got in the studio together. Of course, Dolly and I didn’t get to record together because of the pandemic, but Ronnie (Dunn) and Kix (Brooks) came in and we love to perform and sing together. We’re good friends. So, it was a great day hanging out at the studio.

They are terribly notorious for being pranksters. When we first started our tour in the early ‘90s, that was my first rule: No pranks. We do not like pranks. And so when Kix and myself, when we were singing “Cotton Fields”, he kind of kept spitting on me. We got off the stage, of course, and we walked back to the dressing room. I said, “Would you please quit spitting in my face?” And that’s when he gave me a big yellow rain slicker the next night.

AP: Ha! Did re-recording these songs transform them, in some way?

McENTIRE: You get used to hearing something a certain way, and then when it is stripped down to just a few instruments, you got to get comfortable with it again. You kind of have to relearn it. And some of the songs we slowed down, changed the tempo, and it just made it a totally different song. So, I thought it was a great idea and a great way to give the fans something different.

Reba McEntire Loves ‘Everything’ About Dolly Parton: ‘I’ve Never Heard A Bad Word Said About Dolly’

AP: In the book, you describe your style as “tough sexy.” What is “tough sexy?”

McENTIRE: I’m a tomboy at heart. I grew up on a working cattle ranch. I worked outside with my older sister Alice and my older brother Pake and little sister Susie. We had to do the chores with the men and then come in and us girls had to take care of things with Momma. So, I always considered myself a tomboy, but I still like to dress up and be sparkly with rhinestones and glitter and fringe and all that kind of stuff. So “tough sexy,” to me, when they say, “How do you like to dress?” “I like tough sexy.” “Well, what’s that?” “In my cowboy clothes with a sexy side of it.” That’s my interior design, also.

AP: Not That Fancy offers simple living advice. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given, maybe something you’ve shared on “The Voice”?

McENTIRE: I pass on the best advice I’d ever gotten from a good friend of mine who’s not with us any longer, a billionaire. He said, “Overall, have fun.”

And also, don’t sweat the small stuff. Don’t worry that you don’t have eight glasses that match. Use Solo cups or paper plates, whatever you want to use, but have your friends over. Do not postpone a get together because you don’t have the perfect set up in your house, or maybe the house cleaner didn’t come, or maybe you didn’t feel like cleaning your house. Don’t worry about it. They just want to see you.

‘Django Unchained’ Actor Keith Jefferson Dead At 53: Co-Star Jamie Foxx Pays Tribute

    By Miguel A. Melendez, ETOnline.com.

Jefferson, who was a staple in Quentin Tarantino films, opened up in August about battling cancer.

Keith Jefferson, an actor who appeared in a handful of Quentin Tarantino films like “Django Unchained”, “The Hateful Eight” and “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood”, has died. He was 53.

The official cause of death is not known, but Jefferson shared back in August he was battling cancer. Jamie Foxx took to Instagram on Thursday to pay tribute to his longtime friend and co-star. Foxx first shared a photo of himself with Jefferson in what appeared to be a recent visit to the hospital.

“[T]his one hurts. Keith, you’ve been nothing but absolute grace, your whole life your heart is pure your love is immeasurable you were an amazing soul,” Foxx captioned his post. “We will all miss you dearly. It’s gonna take a long time for this to heal. Goodbye, my friend. I love you.”

Shortly after, Foxx uploaded another photo alongside Jefferson while posing in front of a private jet.

“Everything hurts right now having a hard time looking through these pictures reliving the memories of us having a great time going to miss you man gonna miss you,” Foxx captioned the second post. “[E]ver since we met back in college, you have been in incredible soul God rest, NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO SEE THE WORDS ABOUT MY FRIEND RIP @keith.jefferson Keith.”

Nicole Scherzinger also dropped three emojis — 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽.

In an Aug. 9 post, Jefferson opened up about his health and expressed love for those closest to him, including Foxx.

“Every now and then God will give you a challenge and leave it up to you to fix it. When I was first diagnosed with cancer I had to stop, pause , and didn’t want to share with anyone,” he shared in his caption. “Not my family nor extended family. Today I’m finally at a place to share because my faith is getting stronger. I have a loving family and the best friends in the entire world. You know who you are. From my Mom to J Foxx and everybody in between. I love you whole heartedly. We are cut from the same cloth and that cloth is the human condition. Remember…’faith is the last thing you can lose.’ I’m not about to lose that .”

Foxx commented on that post saying, “I love you my brother we will beat this.” Foxx’s daughter, Corinne, also commented, “Love you Keith.”

According to his IMDb bio, Jefferson was born in Houston, Texas, where he began his acting career at just 8 years old when he played the gatekeeper in the stage play The Wizard of Oz. He was a three-sport athlete at Eisenhower High School and would go on to earn a musical theatre degree in San Diego and a master’s in acting at the University of Arizona in Tucson.

His first big role came in 1997 when he landed a role in “Buffalo Soldiers” portraying Private Andrew Boyer alongside Danny Glover. Jefferson, who also had a recurring role in “The Jamie Foxx Show”, would soon become a staple in Tarantino films. He appeared as Pudgy Ralph in “Django Unchained”, Charly in “The Hateful Eight” and Land Pirate Keith in “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood”.

In December 2020, Jefferson took to Instagram and shared a collage of photos of him and Foxx. In the caption, Jefferson explained their tight friendship that spanned more than three decades.

“Fizz you bring so much joy, love, and happiness into a everyone’s life. We rollin 31 yrs of friendship. All the way back to when we was eating grill cheese sandwiches in the student center late night then we hit the streets of San Diego and LA discussing dreams and ambitions,” Jefferson captioned his post. “Convos nobody knows about. I said it before but it never gets old…I’m so proud of you brother and I’m grateful for all the doors you have opened for me. Happy birthday JF luv you bro.”

Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’ Music Video Reaches 1 Billion YouTube Views

    By Melissa Romualdi.

Amy Winehouse is now part of a noble group of musicians to surpass a billion views on YouTube.

The late singer’s music video for her 2007 hit song “Back to Black” has reached 1 billion views on the platform, 16 years after its release.

The black-and-white video — directed by Phil Griffin — sees Winehouse mourning a failed romance, to which she joins a funeral procession and attends the burial, where a gravestone reads, “R.I.P. the Heart of Amy Winehouse.” However, the gravestone imagery was removed from the music video after the musician died at age 27 from alcohol poisoning.

Winehouse wrote the song with Mark Ronson — the music producer who created one of the biggest albums of the year for the “Barbie” movie. The lyrics were inspired by her troubled relationship with ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, though they find her missing the relationship.

“We only said goodbye with words / I died a hundred times / You go back to her / And I go back to black,” Winehouse sings.

The Grammy-winning singer married Fielder-Civil in 2007, two years after he briefly left her for an ex-girlfriend before the pair reconciled. They later divorced in 2009.

Upon “Back to Black”‘s release, it peaked at no. 25 on the U.K. Singles Chart and, following Winehouse’s death, it reached no. 8. The track has gone on to become one of her biggest hits and has since been covered by many artists, including one performed by Beyoncé and André 3000 for 2013’s “The Great Gatsby”.

Last year, Ronson opened up about working alongside Winehouse and shared her unheard raw vocal takes while producing the song.

“I wrote the song ‘Back to Black’ with Amy Winehouse some 15 years ago at this exact piano right here,” he said in a TikTok video, showing viewers the grand piano where the two collaborated. “Amy came to my studio right here. We met for the first time, and I instantly loved her.

Ariana Madix Opens Up About ‘Empowering’ Journey On ‘DWTS’ And Boyfriend Daniel Wai’s Support

    By Anthony Dominic, ETOnline.com.

The ‘Vanderpump Rules’ star shares with ET her experience on ‘DWTS’ and emphasizes the significance of having her boyfriend’s support.

Ariana Madix is making headlines again, but this time it’s for her captivating journey on the dance floor on “Dancing With the Stars”. ET’s Deidre Behar recently caught up with Madix and her dance partner, Pasha Pashkov, to discuss her exhilarating experience on the show, the emotional release she felt while performing, and the unwavering support of her boyfriend, Daniel Wai.

When asked about her first week in the competition and the catharsis of donning her iconic “Vanderpump Rules” reunion dress, Madix couldn’t contain her excitement. She shared, “It felt amazing. Oh yeah. And very much therapeutic and Pasha choreographed just the most amazing stuff, and I felt just really empowered and strong, and I also felt like it was a moment for me to be like you do deserve to be here, and I’m just gonna give them my all, and I just want to be able to stay and keep doing that, you know? I wanna keep giving it my all every week.”

This marks a significant shift for Madix, who has been candid about her personal struggles and her past relationship with her ex-boyfriend Tom Sandoval, who cheated on her with her close friend, Rachel Leviss, after nine years of dating.

When asked if she feels like participating in the show has helped her close a chapter with her ex, Madix responded, “Yeah, I mean obviously I got to do some things in the house and stuff like that. But, you know, it’s like being able to just come out here and express myself and be in my element. I love to perform; I love to be on stage, and it’s just nice to be kind of over here and doing this with the best partner. You know?”

One of the key sources of support for Madix has been her boyfriend, Daniel, who has been in the audience every week, cheering her on. When asked about having him there, Madix couldn’t help but express her gratitude, saying, “It’s really, really nice. He’s so supportive. So many of my best friends were here tonight, and they’re just the best. And I’m so lucky I just feel like somehow, somewhere, the cosmic universe, whatever, I won the lottery when it comes to the best friends and the best support system. Truly.”

For the Season 32 premiere of “Dancing With the Stars”, Madix delivered a stunning performance alongside Pasha to a particularly appropriate track — Hailee Steinfeld’s “Love Myself”.

Madix addressed the “Scandoval” drama head-on in the pre-taped segment before her dance, which she introduced by explaining, “My life has been a rollercoaster in the past year.

“Everybody got to watch it all play out and my life blow up on television,” Madix shared. “But my scandal does not define me.

“It’s time for me to stand on my own two feet… feeling like you were a joke to your partner of nine years… is devastating, but I want to show other women that you don’t have to let that hold you back,” she added.

“Dancing With the Stars” airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and Disney+.

X/Twitter Follows Through On Elon Musk’s Proposal To Remove Headline Links From News Articles

    By Emerson Pearson.

X, formerly Twitter, has followed through on Elon Musk’s plan to remove headlines from news articles.

Musk initially stated in August that this change aimed to “greatly improve aesthetics,” but it may also impact the traffic directed to stories shared by news outlets, which are active platform users.

Grimes Is Suing Elon Musk Over Parental Rights Of Their Three Children

As of the recent update, only an article’s lead image is visible, and there is no accompanying headline below the picture. While a news outlet’s website address does appear within the image, the absence of headlines in tweets has sparked criticism, with many users finding the platform less functional.

X/Twitter did not provide a comment regarding the specific reasons for this alteration. It’s important to note that news outlets can still offer context for their stories within the text of their tweets.

    READ MORE:
Elon Musk Roasted For ‘Desperate’ Plea To Taylor Swift To Post Music On X

Aidan McLaughlin, the editor-in-chief of Mediaite, highlighted an example where the absence of a headline led to a different interpretation of a story, making it appear as if it were an attack on Donald Trump rather than a report on a law clerk involved in the former president’s civil fraud trial.

While Musk cited aesthetic reasons for these changes, he has also been critical of news media outlets. In August, it was reported that X/Twitter had been intentionally slowing the loading speeds of links to prominent news sources like The New York Times and Reuters, along with platforms like Facebook and Substack. These outlets have faced criticism from Musk, who views them as rivals. After reports of the speed reduction, some of these delays were lifted.

Notably, Musk suspended the accounts of several journalists last year who had reported on a user tracking the movements of his private plane, sparking further controversy surrounding the platform.

SZA Reflects On Dating Drake In 2009: ‘It Wasn’t Hot And Heavy’

    By Zoe Phillips, ETOnline.com.

SZA took a trip down memory lane this week, recalling her not-so-serious relationship with Drake in 2009. The singer-songwriter spoke about the short-lived relationship in a Rolling Stone cover story interview, describing the fling as “youth vibes.

“We were really young,” SZA said. “It wasn’t hot and heavy or anything. It was like youth vibes. It was so childish.”

SZA and Drake’s relationship last caught the attention of the public in 2020, when Drake’s song “Mr. Right Now” addressed their fling with the lyrics “Yeah, said she wanna f— to some SZA, wait / ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08.” The song continued, “If you cool with it, baby, she can still play / While I jump inside that box and have a field day.”

SZA, who turned 18 in November 2008, later took to social media to address Drake’s words, confirming the two of them had been involved but adding that their relationship wasn’t “anything underage or creepy.”

“So it was actually 2009 lol … in this case a year of poetic rap license mattered lol,” she clarified on X (formerly Twitter). “I think he jus innocently rhymed 08 w wait. Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm … it’s all love all peace.”

In a reply to the original post, SZA went on to say the relationship was “lifetimes ago,” adding it was “completely innocent.”

The duo are still on good terms in present day. Last month, they released their first-ever collaboration, “Slime You Out,” from Drake’s album, For All the Dogs. The song debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming SZA’s second track to achieve such status, after “Kill Bill” raced to the top of charts earlier this year.

He then asked, “So she ain’t come with you tonight? She ain’t come with you tonight to the Drake show?! What the f**k is wrong with her? And you in here just icy with the gold chain and the sunglasses on? Aye, you know what?”

When the crowd interrupted with a vulgar chant aimed at the fan’s ex, Drake calmed them, saying, “Alright, that’s a little aggressive.”

He then added, “You know what? She’s gonna feel real f**ked up ’cause I’ma give you 50 bands so you gon’ flex on her tonight. That’s how we doing it tonight, big dog! It’s your night tonight! And I won’t say it how y’all said it, but f**k that young lady.”

Adam Devine and Chloe Bridges are soon-to-be parents!

The “Pitch Perfect” alum took to Instagram on Monday to share a photo with Bridges where they both are showing off their bellies. “Look we’re pregnant! Well, I’m just fat now but Chloe is all preggo with a human baby!” Devine joked.

The actor went on to reveal Bridges is pregnant with a baby boy.

“Obviously, very exciting stuff! This will mostly be a baby page now, as I will be dedicating my life to my child in hopes he doesn’t use my decades of recorded dirty jokes against me,” he added.

For her part, Bridges took to Instagram on Monday and shared two photos taken on a dock in Newport Beach, California.” We have news!! Can’t wait to get this lil family started,” the “Camp Rock” alum wrote.

Devine and Bridges got married in October 2021 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, after having several planning setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Were we crazy for trying to plan a wedding during a global pandemic?? Probably, yeah, cause many, many things went wrong including but not limited to us both getting breakthrough covid 😐 But we gave it our best shot and it’s almost here and it seems like it’s actually going to pan out!!” she wrote.

The cute couple — who started dating in February 2015, after meeting on the set of “The Final Girls” the year prior — announced their engagement in October 2019.
