Former NBA star Chris Bosh is opening up about a recent health scare that saw him wake up covered in blood.
“I woke up covered in my own blood,” Bosh, 41, said in an emotional Instagram video shared on Wednesday, February 25. “It was crazy, it was fast, it was instant, there was no warning … I didn’t have any time to prepare for it.”
While the two-time NBA champion didn’t divulge the exact details of his health scare, he said that he fell to the floor while getting ready for a date with his wife, Adrienne, with whom he shares five children.
“The next thing you know, I was on the ground. I won’t get into specifics, but you can kind of see I’m still recovering,” he continued. “I’m not gonna try to hide that one in case I look different, but it was a scary thing.”
Dwyane Wade was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in late 2023, which required surgery to remove. “This past calendar year was probably the first time in my life [that was] unexpected,” Wade, 43, said on the Thursday, January 30, episode of his “The Why” podcast. “When you go through physical elements that you can’t feel, […]
“I’m lucky. I came back,” Bosh said elsewhere in the video. “It was just darkness. It wasn’t anything else. I went to the darkness, I came back. I have no recollection, I have no memory other than coming back here.”
Bosh said the scary incident had given him a renewed perspective on life, encouraging his followers to be bold in following their dreams.

“It made me really have a different outlook on life and how things go, what we do for ourselves, what we do for our family, how we live our lives. No matter what it is, make sure you don’t wait,” he shared. “That’s the thing that I get [from this]. Don’t wait to take action because it could come fast, it could come quick. … I’m lucky to be alive, and I feel great about that, and now I’m thinking about how I live my day-to-day life. That’s really it.”
“Don’t wait,” he advised. “Don’t wait to take action. You might be wanting to get a promotion, you might want to try out for the team, you might want to go on that vacation. It might be so many different things that people want to do, that we want to do, that we never do, so that’s what I get from all of this. Don’t wait for it.”
The stories of the firing of Michigan’s Sherrone Moore and Ohio University’s Brian Smith have shocked fans of both programs. In February 2015, Bosh was benched for the remainder of the 2014-15 NBA season due to a blood clot in one of his lungs. The Basketball Hall of Famer’s career effectively came to an end the following year when another blood clot was discovered in his leg. Despite attempts to make a comeback, by 2019, he decided to retire.
“That part of my life is over,” Bosh said in 2019 during an appearance on “The Bill Simmons Podcast,” per Sports Illustrated.
He added, “That has been a tough thing to deal with, but I’m good, which has taken a long time [for me to accept]. … I could have kept playing. But man, that time has passed. I’ve made the decision not to pursue it anymore.”
Big Brother 10 alum Libra Thompson is on the mend after suffering a stroke.
“Hi Friends! After being finally able to sort through it all … I would like to thank each and everyone for reaching out and sending me well wishes!” Thompson, 49, wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, February 10. “I unfortunately experienced a stroke event on February 1st while I was in San Antonio attending a conference, luckily my roommate, co-worker and friend was there!!”
Thompson thanked her doctors and the medical team at San Antonio’s Methodist Metropolitan hospital for taking care of her. She was also “grateful” that they were able to find out what caused the stroke.
“I am most grateful that they were able to pinpoint a cause [of] my stroke, although [it] was considered a cryptogenic stroke it was found to be due to me having a PFO — patent foramen ovale, which is a small hole in my heart,” she continued. “I will be meeting with both a neurologist and cardiologist this week with UT physicians that specialize in PFO events for my plan [of] care.”
Thompson also shared that her time in the hospital was costly and asked her “CISD friends” if they would be willing to donate “a day or two” for her unpaid leave of absence.
“I would be most grateful for anything that you could give. I really hate asking, but pride aside, donate days would help me out tremendously!” she wrote. “I will have [a] considerable amount of medical bills while being on an unpaid FMLA leave and I am finding out that heart surgery is some of the most expensive around!”
While the health scare was unexpected, Thompson is glad that she is in the process of making a full recovery.
“All that being said I am so blessed that I am on the other side of this and I am on the mend!❤️🩹❤️🩹❤️🩹,” she concluded.

Following her time on Big Brother, Thompson has not appeared in any other reality shows. According to her LinkedIn page, she is a behavior instructional coach in Texas.
Quinton Aaron’s family have shared a positive update on The Blind Side actor after he was hospitalized after suffering a “spinal stroke.”
Quinton, 41, is feeling optimistic amid his recovery and looking forward to watching the Super Bowl this Sunday, the Aaron family said via a statement shared with Us Weekly on Friday, February 6.
“Quinton is in a jovial mood, now laughing and smiling and is communicating to the best of his ability while he continues to recover,” the statement read. “He’s watching TV and getting ready to root for his favorite team this weekend.”
Previously, the Aaron family confirmed on January 29 that Quinton had been admitted to an Atlanta hospital after suffering a “spinal stroke.” Quinton’s legs had stopped functioning as he was walking up stairs in his apartment, and he had collapsed as a result.
The family said at the time, “We acknowledge that you’ve heard about Quinton Aaron’s condition. We appreciate the overwhelming love, support and prayers that Quinton has received over the past few days from his fans, the public and our concerned community.”
In the statement, the family shared details on the status of the actor’s health at the time.
“He is alert, aware and recovering. The Aaron family has a lot to deal with for the betterment of their loved one, but will be sure to keep everyone posted regarding Quinton’s health as we see fit,” it continued.

The family also noted that factual information regarding Quinton’s health will only be delivered by a “blood relative” via the family’s spokesperson and “lifelong friend” Liana Mendoza, urging the public to ignore misinformation from other sources.
News broke on January 25 that Quinton had been hospitalized. Days later, Quinton’s wife, Margarita Aaron, confirmed to TMZ that the actor was on life support but showing signs of improvement.
A GoFundMe page was set up by the Veterans Aids Network — an organization that Quinton has previously worked with. The page aimed to raise money to help support his family as he recovered from his health woes.
“Quinton is one of the kindest, most genuine people you could ever meet,” the GoFundMe page stated. “He shows up for others. He encourages, uplifts and gives freely of himself, often without asking for anything in return. Today, he needs us to show up for him.”
The page added, “Quinton has spent his life inspiring others, reminding us that compassion and humanity still matter in this world. Now, as he faces one of the hardest battles of his life, let’s surround him and his loved ones with that same compassion, strength and care.”

“I don’t know what to write, so I’ll just put the facts here. I have cancer,” Roth, 50, wrote via Instagram on Monday, February 2, alongside a hospital selfie. “It’s not localized. It’s already in my colon, lungs and abdomen.”
She continued, “This space has held great things for me, community, friendship, opportunity, creativity, fun. I’m here to humbly ask for one more thing: fight with me, for as long as we can.”
Roth, whose “Dressing Dawn” Instagram account has more than 65,000 followers at the time of publication, received a flurry of supportive messages in the comments section.
“Omg Dawn, I hate to read this,” influencer Alison Gary replied. “We’re here for you, sending love and strength and support ❤️.”
Content creator Jaimmy Koroma, for her part, added, “Sending you so much love Dawn! ❤️ Let us know if we can help in any way!”
Roth was blown away to have received so many heartfelt messages of support.
“I have no words right now to respond to the outpouring of support on my post that I shared,” Roth said in a Tuesday, February 3, video shared via her Instagram Stories. “It’s not at all what I thought I was going to post. I have a whole story of how I ended up going to the ER and then they did a CT [scan] and they found these things that [were] all unexpected.”
“They did a biopsy of my liver, they did a biopsy of part of my colon [and] they will send it to oncology and assign me a care team,” she explained. “[Then,] I will know what the next steps are, but I just want to say how grateful I am to be held by all of you.”
While awaiting the next steps in her treatment plan, Roth revealed in a subsequent Instagram Stories slide that she is also planning to order a “kicking cancer’s a** wardrobe” of cozy, printed pajamas.
Roth is a plus-size fashion influencer, known online for sharing uploads inspiring women of any size to discover their personal styles.
“Thank you! I can’t close out 2025 without expressing how grateful I am for this community,” she wrote in a December 2025 Instagram post. “It’s never been just the outfits. It’s never been just style. The connections, support, learning [and] growth, it’s EVERYTHING.”

She added at the time, “I know my sharing slowed a bit recently as I figure out the mental health and medical path, but even there the genuine care I’ve gotten here has been so meaningful. Thank you for any and all the time you’ve spent with me in 2025.”
Roth also celebrated her milestone 50th birthday that same year.
“Usually the lead-up to a birthday has me feeling pensive, and half a century feels like quite a milestone,” she said in a January 2025 social media video. “Right now, I’m embracing it because, right now, I am the most resolved version of myself. I am truer to who I am than ever before. I am more grounded, I have more compassion [and] I have a better understanding of what I need and value from others and less fear of asking for it and setting boundaries. I am deliberately choosing my time, space and comfort.”
Controversial columnist Piers Morgan is setting the record straight on whether alcohol played a role in his recent fall that left him hospitalized with a new hip.
“Not a great morning for our good friend Piers Morgan, who — although I have to say he is recovering well in the hospital, that was the picture he posted on instagram — he has a new hip,” Good Morning Britain‘s Susanna Reid announced live on air on Monday, January 19, shortly after Morgan, 60, called out the crew for not discussing the “big news” that he has been hospitalized after falling at a London restaurant.
“So, um, good luck with your recovery. I think he’s going to be in the hospital for a few days as he recovers,” Reid, 55, continued. “I did offer to turn up with grapes, but he says he has enough to open a vineyard. So I was rebuffed.”
“Didn’t he fall over at a restaurant?” fellow GMB host Kate Garraway asked. “Do we have evidence if vineyard production was involved in this falling? Was he partaking in a glass or two?”
Political commentator Piers Morgan has been hospitalized and is detailing his painful ordeal, including necessary surgery. “1. Tripped on small step. 2. In a London hotel restaurant. 3. Fractured femur,” Morgan, 60, wrote via X and Instagram on Sunday, January 18, giving succinct details regarding his recent hospitalization. “4. So badly I needed [a] new […]
While Reid replied that she was “not sure how much of the vineyard had been imbibed” before Morgan fell, the Piers Morgan Uncensored host confirmed via his Instagram Stories later on Monday morning that he was sober when he fell.
“To clarify, ZERO alcohol was involved in the incident,” Piers wrote over a clip of the show, adding a crying laughing emoji.
Morgan revealed he’s currently in the hospital on Sunday, January 18, sharing a selfie from his bed and providing a brief and at times comical timeline of events that led to a fractured leg and hip surgery.

“1. Tripped on small step. 2. In a London hotel restaurant. 3. Fractured femur,” the political commentator wrote via X and Instagram. “4. So badly I needed [a] new hip. 5. Recovering in hospital. 6. Crutches for 6weeks. 7. No long-haul for 12 weeks. 8. New Year off to a cracking start!”
In the photo, Morgan flashed a thumbs-up to the camera, revealing he has an IV and is receiving oxygen. The internet personality ended his update with a slight jab at President Donald Trump.
“9. I blame Donald Trump,” Morgan joked.
On Instagram, Morgan also shared a photo of the X-ray showing exactly where his femur was fractured. The commentator circled the break, which appeared to be located close to the acetabulum, where the femur and the hip connect.
In the comments section, Morgan admitted that the “shame of it all is worse than the pain,” adding that he felt like a “sack of potatoes” when he fell.
Piers Morgan is, once again, weighing in on the royal family. Morgan, 58, cosigned British journalist Jemima Goldsmith’s criticisms regarding the internet’s ongoing jokes about Princess Kate Middleton’s whereabouts following her abdominal surgery earlier this year. “I fear that all the Kate and William ‘jokes’ on social media and especially the Stephen Colbert material are […]

“Bad news… after some extensive hospital tests this morning it appears I’m not going to die,” Morgan joked via X, then Twitter, at the time. “I can only apologize for all the upset & offense I know this development will cause.
Morgan later revealed he had been diagnosed with stomach issues.
“If you really want to know, I was diagnosed with stomach gastritis and duodenitis,” he said. “I blame eating a mouthful of vegan sausage roll, Brexit & Donald Trump.”
The Grammy Award winner, 82, shared a photo of himself smiling as he lay in a hospital bed on Friday, January 2. Alongside the photo, Manilow assured his fans on Friday that he was feeling “better today.”
Manilow was showered with positive messages and well-wishes from his Instagram followers. Melanie Taylor, Manilow’s longtime backup singer, beamed “that’s my boss y’all” in the comments.
“He’s making it through the rain! Love you B,” Taylor went on.

Guns N’ Roses and The Cult alum Matt Sorum added, “Heal up Barry, much love.”
“Sending lots of love, Barry,” drag icon Coco Peru chimed in.
On December 22, Manilow went public with his lung cancer diagnosis and confirmed he would soon undergo surgery.
“As many of you know, I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks. Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK,” he shared via Instagram. “The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. That’s the good news.”
The “Can’t Smile Without You” singer explained that he needed to finish his annual Christmas concerts in December before scheduling a date to “have the spot removed.”
“The doctors do not believe it has spread, and I’m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis. So, that’s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns,” he wrote.
The singer-songwriter announced that he needed “a month to recover” post-op, so he was cancelling scheduled concerts in January. (Manilow had been set to headline gigs in Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Ohio this month.)
“I’m very sorry that you have to change your plans,” he wrote to fans. “Just like you, we were all looking forward to the January shows and hate having to move everything around.”
Looking ahead, Manilow said he intends to return to the stage for his Valentine’s Day weekend concerts at Westgate Las Vegas on February 12-14.
“Something tells me that February weekend is going to be one big party!” Manilow concluded. “I hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year. And remember, if you have even the slightest symptom … get tested! I’ll see you at the Westgate Las Vegas for Valentine’s!”
Manilow has been open about his smoking habit over the years. He told The Evening Standard in 2012 that he’d “smoked for 30 years,” having originally started when he was only “9 years old.”
“Then I stopped about 15, 20 years ago,” he clarified at the time. “Then I just started in Las Vegas and the band and I went down to a little club and somebody offered me a cigarette. And I was back. Within a week I was back. Not on a pack a day, cause when I was really smoking I was on three packs a day — non filters. Oh yeah. I was a great smoker.”
More recently, Manilow switched to vaping. Prior to his recent lung cancer diagnosis, Manilow battled bronchial pneumonia, an oral tumor and was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma — a form of throat cancer — in 2020. (Manilow underwent surgery and vocal therapy after his 2020 throat cancer diagnosis and eventually made a full recovery.)

In 2019, Manilow admitted to the Daily Mirror that he was willing to accept the consequences after a lifetime of smoking.
“I’m fine, I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. I’m very old, I should not be able to do this,” he said. “You saw me going up those stairs on stage — there’s 14 steps up and 14 down, you would think I should be in a wheelchair or something.”
Manilow is being supported throughout his lung cancer recovery by his husband, Garry Kief, whom he married in 2014 after more than 35 years together.
The “Messy” singer, 24, was in the middle of performing her song “Conceited” at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York, on Saturday, September 27, when she collapsed, according to multiple media outlets. Young was rushed off stage to receive medical attention before updating fans on her condition via social media later in the day.
“Hi, for anyone who saw my set at All Things Go today, I am doing okay now,” she wrote via her Instagram Story on Saturday. “Thank you for all of your support.”
According to People, Young had explained to her fans at the New York festival that she’d “had a tricky couple of days,” as she’d previously cancelled an appearance at Audacy’s We Can Survive concert at Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Friday, September 26. (Her manager explained via Instagram that Friday’s cancellation was “due to a sensitive matter.”)
If one musician kept Us talking throughout 2024, it was Chappell Roan. Roan is no stranger to the music industry, having signed her first record deal in 2015, but it wasn’t until the 2023 release of her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, that she began to take the world by […]
“Sometimes life can really make you feel like you can’t continue, but you know what, today I woke up and I made the decision to come here, and I wanted to be cool … and sometimes life can throw you lemons, and you just gotta make lemonade,” she told the audience at All Things Go prior to her set prematurely ending.
Fans in attendance at the festival reportedly received a few updates on Young’s condition from other artists throughout the day. Young’s friend Remi Wolf spoke on stage about how frightening the ordeal was.
“That was really f***ing scary. My friend Lola is backstage, and she is okay,” Wolf, 29, assured fans.
Us Weekly has reached out to Young’s representatives for comment.

Young has been candid about physical and mental health issues in the past, including explaining via Instagram how her life changed after being diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder at age 17. (According to the Mayo Clinic, the condition is “marked by a mix of schizophrenia symptoms, such as hallucinations and delusions, and mood disorder symptoms, such as depression, mania and a milder form of mania called hypomania.”)
“I can’t find the words to describe how much this diagnosis has affected my entire life, and my outlook on the world around me,” she wrote in 2022. “I have struggled immensely learning to accept this part of myself, and I am still learning.”
She went on, “I have to remind myself that I am a regular f***ing person, I am human and I am, like everyone, capable of incredible things, my mental health condition does not define me. It is my superpower.”
The musician is wrapping up a breakout year, which saw her single “Messy” top the U.K. Singles Chart for four weeks in late 2024 and subsequently reach No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. Her third studio album, I’m Only F***ing Myself, was released on September 19, and hit No. 3 on the U.K. Album Chart the following week.
Punk rock legend Patti Smith has updated fans on her health following reports that she collapsed on stage in Brazil. “This is letting everyone know that I am fine,” she wrote via Instagram on Thursday, January 30. “A grossly exaggerated account is being spread by the press and social media.” Smith, 78, was beginning a […]

Katie Thurston was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2025 at the age of 34.
“I had a small lump in my breast around the 10’oclock [sic] spot,” the former Bachelorette wrote via her Instagram Stories that same month. “I discovered it myself. Thought maybe it was my period [or] maybe it was muscle soreness from working out. But, eventually, this lump never went away.”
Thurston subsequently visited her doctor for a mammogram, which indicated the presence of cancerous tissue. She later underwent a biopsy to learn more about the type of cancer.
“Good news! My cancer hasn’t metastasize[d],” Thurston shared via her Instagram Stories on February 21, 2025, noting the malignant tissue was confined in her lymph nodes. “Two more appointments left in LA before officially moving to NYC [on] March 1st. The anticipated order of things is fertility (egg/embryo freezing), chemo, then surgery.”
Former Bachelorette Katie Thurston has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is “ready to fight” the disease. “Life update: I have breast cancer,” Thurston, 34, wrote via Instagram on Saturday, February 15. “Yesterday I saw all the couples post their Valentine’s Day celebrations. I felt envious if I’m being honest. Jeff [Arcuri] took me to […]
“I’m so thankful for my family, friends, and community here for helping me make it to my current stage [sic] of mind,” she added. “Today I feel calm, less scared, and ready.”

Thurston discovered a lump in her breast in late 2024, noting the following February on her Instagram Stories that the pain continued for “three [or] four months.”
“My first lump [which was a benign cyst] felt like a pea or marble [and] hard, unnatural, but didn’t cause me discomfort. The second felt larger,” she recalled in February 2025. “The pain initially came and went, but maybe after 3-4 months of it not going away or improving, I got nervous and saw my doctor.”
Thurston had a breast ultrasound, a mammogram and multiple biopsies, which confirmed the presence of cancer.
“Yesterday I saw all the couples post their Valentine’s Day celebrations. I felt envious if I’m being honest. Jeff took me to Hawaii and after, we were going to travel the world before planting roots together in NYC finally,” she wrote via Instagram on February 15. “But instead, my Vday was spent coordinating a place to live as I have to go back to LA for more testing and treatment.”
She added, “I used my morning to figure out insurance for NYC and laws on preexisting conditions. I scheduled appointments for another biopsy, fertility, mental health, surgery, as well as meeting with my team to discuss the overall treatment plan, which will include chemo.”
Former Bachelorette star Katie Thurston has offered fans an update on her breast cancer diagnosis. Taking to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, February 18, Thurston, 34, thanked followers for their support while providing further insight into her life since announcing she was battling the disease on Saturday, February 15. “Headed back to LA temporarily while […]

Thurston had another biopsy, this time on her lymph nodes, on February 19.
“Finished biopsy. Went much better this time,” Thurston wrote via her Instagram Stories. “Took lorazepam, explained my last appt struggles and asked for more numbing, and they allowed Jeff to be there holding my hand.”
The biopsy indicated that Thurston’s cancer hadn’t metastasized further.
March 2025
At the start of the month, Thurston moved to NYC full-time before she started fertility treatments. The reality star opted to freeze embryos before undergoing chemotherapy.
“One day you think you don’t want kids,” she wrote on March 9. “Then one day you meet the man of your dreams and would do anything to make sure we can start a family in the future.”

Throughout March, Thurston continued planning her treatment protocol.
“I opted in for the I-Spy breast cancer trial instead of the standard of care,” she wrote on March 13. “The goal is to match treatments to patients used on the molecular and genetic characteristics of their tumors instead of a ‘one size fits all’ route. This all means I’ll have extra testing done in advance and during.”
That same day, she had an optometry appointment to “get [her] eyes checked out” to check if she still qualifies for the I-Spy clinical trial. One day later, Thurston underwent an egg retrieval.
Days after Us Weekly exclusively confirmed that Thurston and Arcuri tied the knot on March 22, they discovered multiple spots had been found on the former Bachelorette’s liver. Afterward, Thurston underwent biopsies on her breast, lymph nodes and liver to discover when to start her treatment. She also had a port placed.
On March 28, Thurston confirmed that the spots found on her liver were cancerous.
“After days of waiting, unfortunately, I did find out today that my breast cancer has spread to the liver,” she said in an Instagram video. “It is fairly small, however it does put me at stage four.”
Thurston shared that she would start treatment the following week.
April 2025
As Thurston packed her hospital bag on April 3 to start chemotherapy the next day, she received a call from her doctors to pause her plans.
“I got the call that my pathology results on my liver, breast and lymph nodes all came back as HER2 Negative, even though my original samples as Kaiser were HER2+,” Thurston wrote via Instagram on April 4. “I was minutes away from taking my steroid for chemo prep. Instead, I am headed to my doctor to discuss how this happened, what testing is needed and what this means for my new treatment plan. Sounds like chemo is off the table now.”
She confirmed on April 10 that her cancer was HER2-negative. “What this means is no chemo,” she explained via Instagram Story, before breaking down her new treatment plan.
“Instead I’ll be on Letrozole + Kisqali + Zoladex as my first line of treatment,” she wrote. “This is a custom plan based on being [/] having HER2-negative, Luminal B, hormone-positive breast cancer. Letrozole to block estrogen, Kisqali to stop cancer cells from growing, and Zoladex to shut down my ovaries.”
However, chemo is “not completely off the table,” she explained, saying, “If this treatment stops working or if the cancer grows again, it’s an option we’ll revisit. We will closely monitor the treatment plan and make sure it’s working for my body.”
On April 12, Thurston further broke down her treatment plan, adding that she’ll have “monthly” appointments to “monitor my heart and do blood draws.” She added, “I think my first scan from now is in three months.”
June 2025
Thurston shared via Instagram on June 1 that she finished her second month of treatment and noticed a few changes to her body.
“Right now, after finishing two months of my medication, my hair is coming out in an unnatural amount of clumps. Working on that,” she said. “I’m losing my memory. That’s great. Going through customs and them being like, ‘Where are you coming from?’ And I looked at him and was like, ‘I don’t remember. I don’t remember.’”
Thurston explained that she’s making “big decisions” about how to treat her liver, whether that be radiation, ablation, histotripsy — which she shared is what she’s going to do with NYU. She noted that zoladex didn’t work, leading her to get her period. Thurston explained that she’s switching to lupron, and if that doesn’t work, she claimed her ovaries might need to be taken out.
Weeks later, Thurston got candid about the cost of her ongoing treatment. She shared a screenshot of an insurance claim via her Instagram Story, which showed that her doctors were billed $320,325.57, while she paid $22,420.40 out of pocket.
“Thank you to the brands I have the opportunity to work with and the people who support me,” Thurston wrote. “Shoutout to the $1300/month I pay to help with my medical bills that I’ll have the rest of my life as a stage 4 patient.”
“We will find out if the tumors are stable (no growth) or even possibly shrinking! As long as my scans are good, I can continue this treatment plan,” she wrote via her Instagram Story at the time. “As a stage 4 girly, I’ll be on a treatment plan for life, so it’s a win when something is working. It’s also why funding is so important for breast cancer research, because some of us run out of options for treatment.”

Thurston gave an update on her plans for treatment. After some scans came back “a little concerning,” her doctor lowered her medication dosage from three pills to two a day.
“That has worked for my liver enzymes, meaning I don’t need to pause my treatment, I can continue my treatment,” she said in a July 2025 Instagram video. “The bigger test on if this is working still, is next month I will get rescanned to see how much the tumor has shrunk.”
If her next round of scans comes back good, Thurston will be able to undergo a double mastectomy in November.
“After almost three weeks in the hospital, I have never been so thankful to finally head home to our babies,” her husband posted via Instagram on Saturday, September 13, along with photos of the new mom leaving the hospital with her newborn baby. “We don’t have all the answers yet, and I still don’t have function in my right leg, but we are choosing to count every blessing—especially the gift of being together again. Your prayers have carried us through and mean the world to our family. ❤️”
Erin, one of Kelly Jo and Gil Bates‘ 19 children, and Paine welcomed their son Henry on August 25.
“After a long and emotional labor, our miracle arrived. … Henry is doing wonderful, but we would so appreciate your prayers for Erin as she continues to recover from some complications,” read a statement shared via Instagram on August 27. “We thank the Lord for carrying us through and for the gift of this precious boy. 💙.”
Days later, Paine shared a positive update on the baby’s health, but revealed Erin remained in the hospital. “We wanted to thank each and every one of you for all the prayers and support you have given on our behalf. It’s been a week since our miracle, Henry came into the world. He is doing well in the NICU and is our bundle of happiness,” he wrote in an Instagram post.
Gil Bates and Kelly Jo Bates have 19 children, and for 10 seasons, their lives were documented on Bringing Up Bates. The couple tied the knot in December 1987 and welcomed their first child the following year. By 2012, Kelly had given birth to nine boys and 10 girls, without any multiples in the mix. […]
Paine’s message was accompanied by two black-and-white photos of Erin in a hospital bed. “We had asked for prayer for recovery for Erin due to complications. Her labor was longer and more intense than previous births. She has been fighting through it and has been such a light and sweet testimony of grace to nurses, staff, and doctors alike. We are all moved by her kindness and gratefulness in the midst of pain,” he continued.
Paine revealed that his wife “developed a severe UTI and kidney infection,” which caused septic shock. “She is currently still in the ICU as doctors continue to treat, diagnose, and search for answers. We would covet your prayers for this beautiful girl who is such a light in a dark world. We are holding onto God’s promises,” he concluded.
As fans and family members sent thoughts and prayers to the couple, Paine provided more insight into Erin’s condition on September 4. “I have so many mixed emotions as I share this,” he wrote via Instagram. “Last night, Erin suffered a lengthy and severe seizure. Up to this point, Erins infection was getting better, but we found ourselves back in a place of heartache, uncertainty, and tears. She is in the ICU, and the doctors are running scans and tests to determine the cause. Erin is extremely weak and spent hours only half conscious.”
Paine added that seeing Erin “struggle” was “one of the hardest things” for him to do. “I love her more deeply than words can express, and I can’t even imagine life without my best friend,” he wrote. “The hours have been long and heavy, and I know many hearts are aching to see her this way, along with mine. We hold on to faith that healing is coming, even in the midst of the unknown. Your prayers are felt and we are forever grateful.”
Erin Bates and Chad Paine have been going strong since 2011. Erin, who is one of Bringing Up Bates’ Gil Bates and Kelly Jo Bates’ 19 kids, and Paine met at an Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP) Valentine’s Day banquet in February 2011. The pair ended up crossing paths again in April 2011 at […]
Erin and her husband got married in 2013. Along with Henry, the couple shared Carson (born in 2015), Brooklyn (born in 2016), Everly (born in 2018), Holland (born in 2019), Finley (born in 2022) and William (born in 2023).

The former reality star suffered multiple miscarriages on her path to becoming a parent. “Going through a miscarriage is one of the hardest things,” she told People in 2015. “You build up all these expectations, and you prepare, and you have the date in your mind, and it’s just heartbreaking when that ends. It’s like your world’s been crushed.”
At the time, Erin noted that experiencing hardship brought her and Paine closer together. “When you go through something difficult, it just makes you all the more strong and it makes you look to each other for comfort,” she said. “It made us look to the other people who had gone through difficult situations and really, hopefully, encouraged them through it, as well.”
Fans met Erin and her family on the UPtv series Bringing Up Bates, which aired from 2015 to 2021.
T.J. Holmes was taken to the hospital via an ambulance after suffering an injury while taking part in the Chicago Marathon.
Holmes, 47, undertook the running event alongside Amy Robach on Sunday, October 13, before Robach, 51, shared via social media that her partner had been injured. “Mile 21 and the Achilles gave out,” Robach wrote via Instagram Stories over a photo of Holmes’ legs strapped to a stretcher inside an ambulance.
Three hours later, Holmes shared an update of his own via Instagram, posting a photo of himself looking exhausted on the stretcher and covered at the waist with a blanket. A second snap in his Instagram carousel showed his legs strapped in, while an additional video, seemingly filmed by Robach, showed Holmes listening to instructions provided by an emergency officer who was caring for him.
“So, this happened. Full story to come …. 😢#DNF #chicagomarathon,” Holmes captioned his post.
Former GMA3 cohosts Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes’ reported romance made headlines in November 2022 when the TV personalities — both married to other people — were photographed getting cozy on various outings throughout the month. The pictures, first published by the Daily Mail, showed the pair holding hands in a car, laughing at a […]
Less than one hour prior to Robach’s post, the reporter had shared a smiling selfie of her and Holmes running alongside a crowd of participants in the 26.2-mile race.
The former Good Morning America co-anchors, who revealed earlier this month that they are living together “full time,” share a love of running, competing in the New York City Half Marathon together in March after first taking part in the event together as work colleagues in November 2022.
Robach had previously been married to Andrew Shue, whom she reportedly separated from in August 2022. She filed to divorce Shue in December that year.
For Holmes’ part, he had been married to attorney Marilee Fiebig before reportedly separating from her that same month. The pair also filed for divorce in December.
During the June 12 episode of Holmes and Robach’s “Amy & T.J.” podcast, Robach revealed that some of their GMA coworkers severed ties with the couple after details of their romance went public.
Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes initially connected after they were tapped to headline GMA3: What You Need to Know in 2020. “I had done segments over the years with Dr. [Jennifer] Ashton, who I would always seek out to ask for her expertise. We were collaborating almost every day before being on TV together,” Holmes […]
“So we went back to work for two days after that tabloid that shall not be named released those photos,” Robach said during the podcast. “As we pointed out, just discovering us in a private relationship. They did not catch us cheating, that was not what happened. But when we came back for those two days, we were surrounded with support. My dressing room was full of all of our colleagues.”
Holmes interjected during the episode that some of their coworkers’ sentiments were “fake” and absolute “B.S.” Robach then shared that after she and Holmes were let go from their jobs, a lot of their colleagues also disappeared from their lives.
“But once it was clear that we weren’t coming back, I never heard from most people again,” Robach admitted.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is hopeful that Miami Dolphins star Tua Tagovailoa quickly recovers from his concussion.
When the Bills played the Dolphins on Thursday, September 12, quarterback Tagovailoa, 26, collided with Bills safety Damar Hamlin, which resulted in a head injury. (The Dolphins ultimately lost the game 31-10.)
In a postgame press conference, Allen, 28, sent well-wishes to his opponent.
“If you know Tua outside of football, like you do, like I do, you can’t help but feel for him,” Allen said on Prime Video’s postgame show on Thursday night. “He’s a great football player, but he’s an even greater human being. He’s one of the best humans on the planet.”
He continued, “I’ve got a lot of love for him, and I’m just praying for him and his family and hoping everything is OK. It’s tough. This game of football that we play, it’s got its highs and it’s got its lows, and that’s definitely one of the lows.”
Hamlin, 26, has also expressed positive thoughts for Tagovailoa.
“I was just trying to make a routine tackle, trying to get them off the field on fourth down,” he said in a postgame press conference, hoping that Tagovailoa makes a “speedy recovery.”

Tagovailoa has not spoken about his condition, but Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel revealed the athlete will receive a full medical evaluation on Friday, September 13.
“It’s more about getting a proper procedural evaluation tomorrow and taking it one day at a time,” McDaniel, 41, told reporters on Thursday. “The furthest thing from my mind is what is the timeline. I want to know — we just need to evaluate and I’m just worried about my teammate like the rest of the guys are. We’ll get more information and take it day by day from there.”
Take a look back at Reese Witherspoon, David Beckham, Halle Berry and other stars who have had minor injuries that have made headlines
Tagovailoa previously suffered multiple concussions during the 2022 season, which McDaniel is aware of as it pertains to the quarterback’s current recovery.
“I think it’s important to approach each and every situation to — much like [we] approach every injury, which is basically, ‘All right, we’re gonna handle this particular situation with this particular player,’” the Dolphins coach explained in a press conference. “Every situation is unique to its own, so I think there’s — for me, I’m not worried about anything that’s out of my hands in terms of, I’m just worried about the human being and he’ll drive the ship when we get the appropriate information but it’s day by day health is what, you know, really try to approach all the stuff that way, particularly with concussions.”

As of publication, it is unknown whether Tagovailoa will be able to resume playing this season or will be placed on injured reserve.
“Dreams do come true. Welcome Home Mamie,” read a post shared via Laverock’s official Facebook page on Monday, August 19, which showed a handmade “Home Sweet Home” sign alongside a decorated table with rainbow cake and candles.
“She’s still severely injured but we will take care of her privately,” her family replied. “She needed to be at home. So happy for her. She made it this far … next chapter. It’s a blessing to have her home.”
Laverock, 20, was taken to a hospital in May after suffering an undisclosed medical emergency. Weeks later, the actress was escorted from the hospital’s secure wing to a balcony walkway. She fell five stories, sustaining life-threatening injuries that required multiple surgeries.

“Focusing now on Mamie’s surgery today. Her body has been shattered,” Laverock’s mom, Nicole Rockmann, wrote in an update via GoFundMe one month later. “She has undergone two 11-hour surgeries with two doctors working on her, a three-hour surgery and another surgery today. We have nothing but gratitude for the doctors and nurses who have been exemplary in her care since May 26.”
The statement added, “She is enduring tremendous pain and continues to not give up. We can only hold onto the miracles of each day and continue to thank everyone for their prayers and marvel at the miracles of her story.”
Rockmann later confirmed that her daughter was relocated to another facility and that the family planned to take legal action against St. Paul’s Hospital. Providence Health Care, which operates St. Paul’s Hospital, told the Los Angeles Times in May that they were conducting an “internal critical incident review” per standard operating procedures.
“Thank you so much. I don’t even know what to say. My heart is full,” Rockmann wrote at the time. “I have no words to describe my gratitude. Love you guys. Thank you.”
Some movie and TV stars have hurt themselves attempting their own stunts … while others have suffered injuries through no fault of their own. In one of the scariest examples, Teen Wolf alum Dylan O’Brien was seriously injured on the set of Maze Runner: The Death Cure and needed half a year to recuperate — […]
Some of Laverock’s milestones have been documented via social media along her path to recovery, with Rockmann writing in July, “Mamie moved onto her stomach, pushed herself up and held onto me. At that moment, we realized we could have our first hug.”
“It does feel really weird. It feels really weird. It feels very wobbly,” the actress said in a clip uploaded via Facebook on August 5. “Hi dad … look I’m standing with the walker. All by myself.”

Too Hot to Handle alum Harry Jowsey is feeling grateful after his skin cancer diagnosis.
Jowsey, 26, spoke to Us Weekly about his health status on Friday, May 10, during the Race to Erase MS Gala at Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles. “It’s just a bit scary, bit of a rude awakening, but it humbled me,” he told Us, adding, “The fact that I’m able to inspire people to get their skin checked is awesome.”
Jowsey, who was wearing Giorgio Armani and styled by Monty Jackson for the charity event, revealed his skin cancer diagnosis in April; he explained that he had gone to a dermatologist to get his skin checked and they had “found some skin cancer.” He did not reveal what kind of skin cancer it was, but he did share that the cancer was found on his shoulder and had been there for over a year.
“I’m gonna be all good. Everything’s going to be okay, but I just wanted to make this post to let you know that summer is around the corner,” Jowsey said via TikTok on April 26, before imploring his followers to “please wear sunscreen.”
“I had a lot of friends call me and [say], ‘I actually haven’t had my skin checked ever so the fact that you posted what was going on made me want to go and get myself checked out to make sure I was all in the clear,’” the former Dancing With the Stars contestant told Us on Friday. “But the thing is, 1 in 5 people have skin cancer. It’s just better to go get checked and just to be safe and wear your sunscreen.”
Jowsey went on to say that discovering he had skin cancer was “the scariest moment” of his life.

“I thought it was like a fungal thing on my shoulder,” he explained. “I went to the dermatologist saying, ‘I’ve been putting fungal cream on it for the last year.’ When [the] doctor said it was skin cancer, it was the scariest moment of my life because you don’t know how serious it is, but luckily I’m doing okay.”
The reality star’s health isn’t the only reason he’s thinking about the future. His new podcast, “Boyfriend Material,” is full of relationship advice, and it has helped Jowsey realize he is ready to settle down.
For love and money! Too Hot to Handle has generated several successful couples, despite its forbidden-romance premise. The Netflix reality show debuted in April 2020. The series centers around people who are typically involved in meaningless flings and struggle to form long-term relationships. In an effort to win $100,000, contestants living in a house together […]
“I love my friends, but I’m over them. I just want to have a girlfriend and grow old together and be us and have a little family and just have someone that I can build with and grow with,” Jowsey shared with Us.
“There’s nothing better than having your best friend, your lover with you,” he continued. “Being in a relationship is so special and I really missed that feeling. Hopefully one day. The premise of the [podcast] is to grow together and to learn to become boyfriend material. I’m a work in progress.”
He joked, “I can get advice, I can give advice and hopefully, I can get married and then it turns into daddy advice.”

Following his diagnosis, Jowsey received an outpouring of support from his followers, including Vanderpump Rules star and fellow DWTS alum Ariana Madix. (Madix had skin cancer in the form of a melanoma removed in 2018.)
“She’s the best,” Jowsey told Us of Madix on Friday. “She’s such a sweetheart. She always reaches out and talks about things like this. She’s just like a big mom or big sister. She just cares so much.”
Novak Djokovicwas struck in the head with a water bottle following his first-round match at the Italian Open.
The tennis phenom, 36, took to the stands after defeating French player Corentin Moutet 6-3, 6-1 on Friday, May 10. Per social media footage shared via X, Djokovic was hit in the head as he approached fans to sign autographs, causing him to fall to the ground in pain.
Security at the event, which is held at Foro Italico in Rome, Italy, quickly ran to Djokovic’s aid before ushering him back into the building.
Following the incident, tournament organizers released a statement sharing that the athlete “underwent appropriate medication and has already left the Foro Italico to return to his hotel” and noted that “his condition is not a cause for concern.”
“We’re very upset about what happened, and we are trying to figure out who it was and understand the dynamics,” Tennis Federation spokesman Alessandro Catapano said in a statement, per Fox News. “The police came and asked for information, but the person who did it had already left. We’re going through all of the video and camera angles to see if we can determine what exactly happened.”
Hours later, an alternate angle of the moment was posted to X, revealing that the water bottle had fallen from above Djokovic accidentally after it slid out of a fan’s backpack.
Friday’s match marked Djokovic’s first of the tournament, where he sits as the No. 1 seed. His next match will be against 29th-seeded Alejandro Tabilo on Sunday, May 12. Later this month, he will attempt to defend his title at the French Open which kicks off on May 26.
This isn’t the first time an accidental injury has occurred on one of Djokovic’s courts. During the US Open in September 2020, the player inadvertently hit a lineswoman with a tennis ball and was subsequently disqualified during a fourth-round match against Spain’s Pablo Carreno Busta.
Novak Djokovic got hit in the head with a bottle by someone in the crowd and fell and is bleeding.
During the match, Djokovic appeared frustrated after being down 5-6 in the first set and appearing to suffer a shoulder injury. As he walked off to the sideline for a changeover, he took a ball out of his pocket and his it behind him, striking the woman.
Djokovic was then approached by tournament referee Soeren Friemel and Grand Slam supervisor Andreas Egli who spoke on the court for more than 5 minutes before ultimately deciding to disqualify Djokovic from both the match and the tournament.

Djokovic later addressed the incident via Instagram, writing, “This whole situation has left me really sad and empty. I checked on the lines person and the tournament told me that thank God she is feeling ok. I’m extremely sorry to have caused her such stress. So unintended. So wrong. I’m not disclosing her name to respect her privacy.”
He continued, “As for the disqualification, I need to go back within and work on my disappointment and turn this all into a lesson for my growth and evolution as a player and human being. I apologize to the @usopen tournament and everyone associated for my behavior. I’m very grateful to my team and family for being my rock support, and my fans for always being there with me. Thank you and I’m so sorry.”
Sarah Ferguson has been diagnosed with skin cancer, Us Weekly can confirm.
“Following her diagnosis with an early form of breast cancer this summer, Sarah, Duchess of York has now been diagnosed with malignant melanoma,” a spokesperson for the Duchess of York, 64, told Us in a statement on Sunday, January 21. “Her dermatologist asked that several moles were removed and analyzed at the same time as the Duchess was undergoing reconstructive surgery following her mastectomy, and one of these has been identified as cancerous.”
Ferguson is currently undergoing “further investigations” to check that her recent diagnosis was “caught in the early stages.”
“Clearly, another diagnosis so soon after treatment for breast cancer has been distressing but the Duchess remains in good spirits,” the rep adds. “The Duchess wants to thank the entire medical team [who] has supported her, particularly her dermatologist whose vigilance ensured the illness was detected when it was. She believes her experience underlines the importance of checking the size, shape, color and texture and emergence of new moles that can be a sign of melanoma.”

“The Duchess is receiving the best medical care and her doctors have told her that the prognosis is good,” a rep for Ferguson told Us at the time. “She is now recuperating with her family. The Duchess wants to express her immense gratitude to all the medical staff who have supported her in recent days.”
Ferguson had a mastectomy to remove the cancerous tissue and has since “beat breast cancer.”
“I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday celebrations today. 2023 hasn’t been without its ups and downs, trials, lessons, laughter, miracles and joy,” she penned in a December 2023 Instagram message, reflecting on her year. “I made the Sunday Times Top 5 bestseller list for my historical romance novel, A Most Intriguing Lady! Kensington Palace announced on Wednesday, January 17, that the Princess of Wales, 42, underwent a “planned” procedure at The London Clinic.
“The surgery was successful, and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” the statement read via X (formerly Twitter). “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”
According to Kensington Palace, Kate will be taking a break from upcoming royal engagements.
“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private,” the statement continued. “Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share.”

“Christmas is a time when we come together and celebrate the birth of a newborn baby. The arrival of every baby is a precious and momentous time, it brings us together to reflect on new beginnings and brings hope for the future,” she said in December 2023. “Throughout our earliest interactions, relationships and experiences, with those who love us, even before we are born, we lay the foundations to so much of what that future will depend on. But only by valuing and supporting the vital role of the adults in a child’s world can we hope to make a difference.”
Mary Lou Retton is detailing her ongoing recovery after she was hospitalized with a rare form of pneumonia.
“I’m very private and to come out and talk about it [is difficult],” Retton, 55, told Hoda Kotb in a Sunday, January 7, teaser for a Today show interview, confirming she is in a “vulnerable” state. “This is serious and this is life and I am so grateful to be here.”
She continued: “I am blessed to be here because there was a time when they were about to put me on life support.”
Retton also noted that she is currently “on oxygen,” after Kotb, 59, pointed out the retired gymnast’s breathing apparatus.
Retton was hospitalized in October 2023, with her daughter McKenna Lane Kelley noting in a social media statement that she was “fighting for her life.” (Retton shares daughters Shayla, 28, McKenna, 26, Skyla, 23, and Emma, 21, with ex-husband Shannon Kelley.)
“My amazing mom, Mary Lou, has a very rare form of pneumonia and is fighting for her life,” McKenna wrote via SpotFund. “She is not able to breathe on her own. She’s been in the ICU for over a week now. Out of respect for her and her privacy, I will not disclose all details. However, I will disclose that she is not insured.”

McKenna added at the time, “We ask that if you could help in any way, that 1) you PRAY! and 2) if you could help us with finances for the hospital bill. ANYTHING, absolutely anything, would be so helpful for my family and my mom. Thank y’all so very much!”

Retton’s full interview with Kotb airs on Monday, January 8.
“Hey everybody! I know that everyone was just curious to know what I did on my 65th birthday. I spent it in the hospital. Yes, I had a bowel blockage, severe cramping, came into the ER,” she explained via Instagram Stories on Sunday, December 31, according to multiple outlets.
Leslie, who filmed her health update from a hospital bed, noted that she underwent surgery after doctors discovered the blockage, which she described as “just something so random.” She explained: “[It was] actually, scar tissue from an appendectomy I had when I was 18 years old.”
She went on to tell fans, “If you have severe stomach issues, don’t wait 12 hours to go to the hospital like I did.” Leslie ended her message by wishing fans a happy new year and stating that she was “very excited” to go home to her dog.
Leslie turned 65 on December 28, 2023. Two days later, she took to Instagram to thank fans for their “amazing birthday messages.” She continued: “I am so appreciative and grateful for everyone that supports me on a daily basis. This has been an amazing year for me and I count my blessings daily … 🙏❤️🙏 Happy 2024!”
Leslie was one of the 22 women looking to win Gerry Turner’s heart on the debut season of The Golden Bachelor. She developed a strong connection with Gerry, 72, securing a spot in the final two women along with Theresa Nist.

While Leslie was considered by many to be the frontrunner of the season, she and fans were blindsided when Gerry broke up with her during the show’s November 2023 season finale. “I just want to tell you, Gerry, that I fell in love with you for so many reasons. I really did,” she told him during their After the Final Rose special reunion. “I mean, the way you looked at me and your eyes sparkled, the way her nose prickled when you talked to me, the way we made each other laugh all the time. You got my stupid humor. I was myself with you completely.”
The Golden Bachelor’s debut season has brought out every emotion in Bachelor Nation — including relief that Gerry Turner will find love. Fans watched leading man Gerry begin his journey to find love after loss when the show premiered in September 2023. He kicked things off by opening up about his 43-year marriage to his late […]
Leslie claimed that Gerry gave her “100 percent certainty” that she would be the winner during their offscreen fantasy suite conversation. “You made it sound like you chose me,” she tearfully stated. “You led me down a path and then you took a turn and left me there.”
Gerry proceeded to apologize profusely, telling her it was not his intention to “hurt anyone.” Though Leslie said she was unsure of whether she’d accept his apology, she told Gerry that she “understand[s] it.”
ABC/John Fleenor
Gerry ended the season engaged to Theresa, 70, and the two will tie the knot on ABC’s The Golden Wedding special on Thursday, January 4. While many Golden Bachelor contestants are expected to attend — with Susan Nolesset to officiate —it is unknown whether Leslie will watch her ex walk down the aisle, especially given her current medical condition.
