  • Like Much of America, the Kardashians Are Nostalgic for 2015

But off set, Kim is focused on protecting her kids—North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm—sharing with viewers that they are becoming increasingly aware of their father Kanye West’s recent erratic behavior—a plot point she soft-launched on Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper (who is also producing a reality dating series for Hulu). “It’s a divorce, not a kidnapping,” she says on the season’s first episode, of coparenting with West. “We haven’t left. We’re in the same spot. What happened to the house that you bought next door?” West bought a house down the street from Kim’s Hidden Hills estate in 2021, shortly after she filed for divorce. Kim said at the time she suggested that West take the kids to school every day and that they have dinner together as a family nightly, but those plans never panned out. “Maybe that’s too much,” Kim concedes, “but that’s just what I saw from my mom and my stepdad and my dad.”

By revisiting her past with West, Kim can illuminate the challenges of her present. Back at Eldorado, Kendall and Kylie admit to smoking weed in the backyard, with the elder of the two joking that she lost her virginity in the house. “We’re children number five and six,” says Kendall. “[Kris] just—she has no more energy for us.” But for all the cynicism about the Kardashians returning to their retro rebrand, there is genuine emotion to be gleaned from their trip down memory lane. Later in the episode, Kris captures an intimate moment between Kendall and Kylie as they softly cry on the staircase of their childhood home. “Those were some of the best years,” Kylie tearfully admits.

We Asked the Kardashians’ Personal Chef About the Family’s Favorite Meals – and Yes, a Salad Topped the List – POPSUGAR Australia

The Kardashian-Jenners have made headlines for endless reasons, and their eating habits are no exception. Certain moments – from Kylie’s honey-topped avocado toast reveal to Kendall’s attempt to slice a cucumber – have drawn widespread fascination and criticism.

What fans of the family may not know is that the Kardashians’ approach to eating is largely a reflection of their personal chef, Khristianne Uy. Better known as Chef K, her client list includes the likes of Justin Bieber and Charlize Theron, People reports. But she’s been cooking for the Kardashian-Jenner family for nearly 10 years.

Around the start of the pandemic, Chef K transitioned to mostly catering the Kardashians’ holidays and events, leaving the everyday cooking to a team of chefs. She’s also stepped into the spotlight in her own right, with a TikTok account boasting videos with millions of views.

Having spent nearly a decade as the Kardashians’ personal chef, Chef K knows the details of their nutrition habits inside and out. And in a conversation with POPSUGAR about her new partnership with supplement company SpoiledChild, the chef shed light on her time cooking for the family, including how she made sure the Kardashian-Jenner kids ate their breakfast and what salad topping she knew would be a crowd-pleaser among the sisters.

POPSUGAR: During your time as the Kardashians’ personal chef, what have been their main concerns in terms of nutrition?

Chef K: Across the board, they’ve all prioritized healthy living. With so much travel, the lack of sleep, the growing families, it becomes impossible to always eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner together at the table every day. It was my job to make sure that whatever they ate, it was always nutrient-dense and would sustain them and hold them over for the next three to four hours. For all of my clients, I make a mental note of all allergies and dislikes, but I found that they’re really open to trying new things. I think the trust factor is pretty good.

PS: With nutrient-dense meals, there’s always the concern that you’re sacrificing taste. What’s your approach to making sure the meals you prepare are also appealing?

CK: The first thing that I did with them was to go through their pantry and refrigerator inventories. I could see what condiments were there, what pantry items they had – some had more rice and beans, some had more pasta sauce, some had more soup bases. From there, I already know what’s a safe area and I’ll just put my twist on it. It’s easier now that in 2024, brands are getting creative and putting out products where there isn’t even a compromise anymore. For example, you can find a really, really good, clean vegan cheese that you don’t even know [that it’s not real cheese]. And none of this serving a big old bushel of kale with a lemon slice, you know? With air fryers you can turn the kale into chips.

PS: What was the one meal that you always knew would be a hit?

CK: Anyone who watched the shows knows that they’re big on salads, especially the Health Nut salad that they would shake up before eating. For all of my clients, I tap into things that they already like. So I zoned into salads and thought up pretty much every salad you can think of, paying attention to which salads came back. I told Kris Jenner, “We can test these salads to come up with a ‘forever and never’ list.” Then, you will never have to see this salad again or you will always see that salad.

PS: Which salads made it onto the forever list?

CK: The Chinese chicken salad was number one. But generally, they’re open to any salad that has avocado, and I’d often add a little bit of quinoa or a little farro.

PS: What was the biggest crowd-pleaser at breakfast time?

CK: Smoothies were number one, which is why I thought teaming up with SpoiledChild to share its extra-strength liquid collagen would make for the perfect partnership. Mango is the Kardashians’ favorite flavor, and I’ve been making a tropical mango smoothie recipe that I add the liquid collagen to. I add chia seeds and yogurt too, so that it’s a smoothie that doesn’t leave you hungry again within an hour. Sometimes I would get creative and set up a smoothie bar. With the kids, when they can visually see what’s going into their smoothie and watch it being made, they become more curious and less intimidated to try it.

PS: What has been your personal favorite dish that you came up with for the Kardashians?

CK: It’s the most simple things. Sometimes when we’re so busy and doing all these things, simple, nostalgic meals can’t be beat. I’m a chef and I work with so many different ingredients but I don’t want to eat lobster or caviar every day. Sometimes you crave foods like corn on the cob or spaghetti.

Brody Jenner Says He’s ‘Excited’ To Parent ‘Differently’ Than Caitlyn Jenner

    [ad_1]

Brody Jenner is reflecting on his childhood as a new dad.

The “Hills” alum and his pro-surfer fiancée Tia Blanco welcomed their first child, Honey Raye Jenner, on July 29. The couple documented their daughter’s birth on their joint YouTube account Thursday.

In the video, Jenner opened up about becoming a dad, and said he’d like to approach fatherhood “differently” than his parent, Caitlyn Jenner.

“I think that what I’m most excited about is doing things differently than my father did,” Brody said in the video. “Growing up, I didn’t have the greatest relationship” with his parent, using Caitlyn Jenner’s name from before she transitioned in 2015.

Broady also noted that his parent “wasn’t really around for me growing up” and because of that, Brody said he wants to be “exact opposite” of Caitlyn by “being the absolute best father.”

Caitlyn Jenner has six children. Caitlyn had Burt Jenner while married to Chrystie Scott in 1978. Caitlyn then had Brody, Brandon Jenner and Cassandra Marino with Linda Thompson in the 1980s. Caitlyn married Kris Jenner in 1991 and with her had Kendall Jenner in 1995 and Kylie Jenner in 1997.

Caitlyn also acted as an active stepfather to Kris’ children from her previous marriage with Robert Kardashian — Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob.

The former Olympian’s older kids have been vocal about how Caitlyn was mostly absent from their lives as children. Brody called Caitlyn out in an episode of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” in 2013, which aired before Cailyn transitioned. During a Kardashian family gathering, Brody noticed the way Caitlyn treated Kendall and Kylie, and said he wasn’t “used to” seeing her being so “attentive” as a parent.

Brody explained in a confessional that his parents “had a very messy divorce,” and he was the youngest — “the one child that didn’t really have the greatest relationship with” Caitlyn.

He added: “I can’t even tell you how many birthdays” his parent missed “and I resent him for that.”

In 2015, Caitlyn admitted to ABC News that she wasn’t there for her older children, and explained that in the 1980s she was depressed and struggling with her identity.

“The big formative years for them, I was really struggling with these issues,” Caitlyn told ABC. “I talked to all the boys about this after the fact, that, yeah, I didn’t do a good job. And I apologized to my kids for that.”

Brody Jenner’s Parenting Philosophy: The “Exact Opposite” of Caitlyn Jenner’s Example

    [ad_1]

Brody Jenner, new dad to weeks-old daughter Honey Raye Jenner, is constantly asking himself WWCJD?—”what would Caitlyn Jenner do?”—and then doing the exact opposite of that, when it comes to parenting decisions.

Brody, 39, welcomed the baby girl with fiancée Tia Blanco on July 29. In a YouTube video posted Friday, he shared intimate home videos of the couple’s baby shower (and his surprise proposal), as well as the home birth. If you’ve ever thought to yourself, “hey, self, wouldn’t it be neat to see Brody Jenner blow up a tub that will eventually be filled with birthing fluid?” you are absolutely in luck.

In the video, Brody and Tia share some couch time after their shower, where Brody says what he’s most looking forward to in his impending Dad Life.

“I think that what I’m most excited about is doing things differently than my father did. Growing up I didn’t have the greatest relationship with then-Bruce,” he said. “[Caitlyn] wasn’t really around for me growing up. So I think that just doing the exact opposite, being the absolute best father I could possibly be and getting ready for the journey and just so very excited.”

Brody and Caitlyn have long had a strained relationship. For example, when Brody married Kaitlynn Carter in 2018 (they separated in 2019), Caitlyn did not attend the wedding.

“Honestly, it really did hurt and I would have loved to have had her there,” Brody said of his parent’s absence in a 2019 episode of The Hills: New Beginnings. “But she had better things to do. Apparently.”

Caitlyn has also said she was “not a good parent” in the past, telling Rob Lowe on his podcast in 2020, “I had four kids. I was too busy struggling with my own issues and my own self. I very much regret that, that I wasn’t there more for my young kids.”

Brody Jenner and Caitlyn Jenner might be on good terms nowadays, but that wasn’t the case when he was younger. The 39-year-old has made no secret of his troubled relationship with his parent Caitlyn many times in the past. Now that the model has become a father to a little girl, he recently revealed he wants to be a different kind of parent to his child than Jenner was.

Brody Jenner his parenting will be “exact opposite” of Caitlyn Jenner’s

In a YouTube video that documented his fiancée Tiarah Blanco’s pregnancy journey, Brody Jenner pledged to establish a strong bond with his baby daughter, named Honey Raye. This commitment is supposed to contrast the distant relationship he had with his own father. He explained, “I think that what I’m most excited about is doing things differently than my father did. Growing up, I didn’t have the greatest relationship with then Bruce [now Caitlyn Jenner].” He reveals that the 73-year-old “wasn’t really around for me growing up. So, I think that just doing the exact opposite, being the absolute best father I can possibly be and getting ready for the journey, and just so very excited.”

Brody Jenner shows his gratitude towards his fiancee

The former reality TV personality and his fiancée joyfully welcomed their first child on July 29. Brody, who is the youngest son of Caitlyn, and Linda Thompson, spoke candidly in the video. He said, “To be totally honest here, I didn’t really know if I could really have kids. I just had no idea. Going into this relationship, Tia was the absolute perfect person. She is my better half. She is the most incredible woman I’ve ever met in my entire life, and I think the universe does things the way it’s supposed to”

Meanwhile, Jenner and Blanco publicly announced the birth of their daughter on social media last Thursday. The new dad wrote in the caption, “Momma and baby are in perfect health.” He conveyed just how much he loved his new family, saying, “We are so incredibly in love and have been cherishing this precious time together as a family.” The 39-year-old ended the heartfelt note by thanking people who’ve supported them, “We want to thank everyone for all the love and support.”

  • An anti-Trump video shared by the DeSantis campaign is ‘homophobic,’ says a conservative LGBT group

An anti-Trump video shared by the DeSantis campaign is ‘homophobic,’ says a conservative LGBT group

    [ad_1]

NEW YORK (AP) — A prominent group that represents LGBT conservatives says a video shared by Ron DeSantis ′ presidential campaign that slams rival Donald Trump for his past support of gay and transgender people “ventured into homophobic territory.”

The “DeSantis War Room” Twitter account shared the video on Friday — the last day of June’s LGBTQ+ Pride Month — that features footage of Trump at the Republican National Convention in 2016 saying he would “do everything in my power to protect our LGBTQ citizens.” Trump had been pledging protection from terrorist attacks weeks after the shootings at the Pulse Nightclub, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, that was the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history at that time.

The video also highlights “LGBTQ for Trump” T-shirts sold by the former president’s campaign and his past comments saying he would be comfortable with Caitlyn Jenner, the former Olympic decathlete who came out as a transgender woman in 2015, using any bathroom at Trump Tower and OK with transgender women competing one day in the Miss Universe pageant, which Trump owned at the time of those remarks.

South Carolina’s heavily Republican Upstate is a popular stop for presidential candidates trying to attract support for the first-in-the-South primary in 2024.

The two leading contenders for the Republican presidential nomination have courted conservative women at the Moms for Liberty conference in Philadelphia .

A federal judge has rejected former President Donald Trump’s request that he dismiss a New York columnist’s defamation claims against him on grounds that he is entitled to absolute presidential immunity.

Three Florida men have been charged with making $22 million through illegal insider trading before the public announcement that an acquisition firm was going to take former President Donald Trump’s media company public.

The video then suddenly veers in a different direction, accompanied by dark, thumping music and images of DeSantis, the Florida governor who is trailing Trump by wide margins in the polls for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

It promotes headlines that DeSantis signed “the most extreme slate of anti-trans laws in modern history” and a “draconian anti-trans bathroom bill.” The images are spliced together with footage of muscular, shirtless men and several Hollywood actors, including Brad Pitt, seen wearing a leather mask from the movie “Troy.”

“To wrap up ‘Pride Month,’ let’s hear from the politician who did more than any other Republican to celebrate it,” the DeSantis campaign tweeted.

The video drew immediate criticism from prominent LGBTQ+ Republicans, including the Log Cabin Republicans, which bills itself as the nation’s “largest Republican organization dedicated to representing LGBT conservatives.”

“Today’s message from the DeSantis campaign War Room is divisive and desperate. Republicans and other commonsense conservatives know Ron Desantis has alienated swing-state and younger voters,” the group said in a tweet, adding that DeSantis’ “extreme rhetoric goes has just ventured into homophobic territory.”

The group said his “rhetoric will lose hard-fought gains in critical races across the nation. This old playbook has been tried in the past and has failed — repeatedly.” The post said DeSantis’ “naive policy positions are dangerous and politically stupid.”

Jenner accused DeSantis’ campaign of using “horribly divisive tactics!”

“DeSantis has hit a new low,” Jenner wrote on Twitter.

Representatives of the DeSantis campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment Saturday.

But Christina Pushaw, the campaign’s rapid response director, said in a tweet Friday night that, “Opposing the federal recognition of ‘Pride Month’ isn’t ‘homophobic.’ We wouldn’t support a month to celebrate straight people for sexual orientation, either… It’s unnecessary, divisive, pandering.“

The video comes as Republicans have been wading into increasingly hostile anti-LGBTQ+ territory, attacking Pride month celebrations, trying to ban displays of rainbow Pride flags and passing legislation to limit drag shows, along with broad attacks on transgender rights.

That rhetoric has seeped into the GOP presidential campaign, taking a prominent role that had been absent during recent past competitive primaries, including in 2016, when Trump, a New York reality TV star, generally presented himself as a supporter of LGBT rights.

DeSantis leaned in on anti-LGBTQ+ legislation as he prepared to jump into the 2024 White House race. He signed legislation banning classroom instruction about sexual orientation and gender identity in all grades, banned gender-affirming care for minors, targeted drag shows, restricted discussion of personal pronouns in schools and forced people to use bathrooms that align with the sex assigned at birth. DeSantis also went after President Joe Biden for prominently displaying the Pride flag at the White House last month.

Trump himself pledged in a speech Friday that if elected, he would sign executive orders on his first day in office to cut federal money for any school pushing “transgender insanity” and to instruct federal agencies “to cease the promotion of sex or gender transition at any age.” Hospitals and health care providers offering gender-affirming care for minors should be deemed in violation of federal health and safety standards and lose federal funding, he said.

Both Trump and DeSantis have also railed against transgender women participating in women’s sports and have referred to gender-affirming care for minors as “mutilation.”

At Trump’s rally in Pickens, South Carolina, on Saturday, the crowd booed when Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., referenced to Pride month.

“The rainbow belongs to God,” she said.

While such rhetoric appeals to the party’s conservative base, it risks alienating the more moderate and swing voters who generally decide the outcomes of general elections.

The video, originally posted by the pro-DeSantis “@ProudElephantUS” account, was shared hours after the Supreme Court’s conservative majority ruled that a Christian graphic artist who wants to design wedding websites can refuse to work with same-sex couples.

The decision marked a major defeat for gay rights, with one of the court’s liberal justices writing in a dissent that the decision’s effect would be to “mark gays and lesbians for second-class status.”

  • The Best Celebrity Memes of 2022

The Best Celebrity Memes of 2022

    [ad_1]

    By JC Villamere.

From big events like the Super Bowl and the Oscars to big stars from Nicole Kidman to Jack Harlow, there were plenty of moments worthy of the meme treatment this year. Here, we look back at some of our faves.

Back on Feb. 13 at the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem, 50 Cent treated the crowd to his 2003 hit “In Da Club” and recreated the video’s opening by hanging upside down. Cue the kick-off for many a meme:

The hip-hop mogul also got in on the game with a few memes of his own:

In a now-deleted Instagram post from November, Vin Diesel called for WNBA athlete Brittney Griner’s release from Russian prison, writing “I need Brittney Griner home before Christmas,” alongside a photo of himself at a basketball match. Following Griner’s release in a prisoner exchange for arms dealer on Dec. 8, social media users jokingly thanked the actor for his part.

Some users believed the actor singlehandedly infiltrated the Russian prison by himself.

A meta meme was born when Spider-Man stars Tom Holland, Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire suited up to recreate the Spider-Man pointing meme.

Spider-Man was hot meme fodder beyond the triple-point pose, too:

    The Acade-meme Awards

The Oscars is a perennial feast of memes, and this year was no different. While reliable meme star Nicole Kidman pulled her weight, there was obviously a new source of inspiration for meme-makers at the 2022 ceremony.

This reaction shot was initially thought to be in response to The Slap, but it was later revealed that it was shot before the show got underway. It makes you wonder what her slap reaction looked like.

Cameras caught a catty chat between Caitlyn Jenner and Lady Gaga outside the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 30th annual Academy Awards Viewing Party.

Jenner: “Are you spending time around Malibu anymore?”
    Gaga: “Yes.”
Jenner: “I haven’t seen you at the Starbucks in a while.”
    Gaga: “I’ve switched baristas.”
    Gaga abruptly exits stage right.

Prestige Memes Courtesy of the Royals

Let’s start off with the smallest and cutest of them all.

The four-year-old appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony with his fam, but he was not a fan of the sound of the Royal Air Force fly-over.

Elsewhere, royal watchers were identifying with Prince Harry’s priorities.

And folks were feeling King Charles III’s anxiety level as he prepared to ascend to the throne:

And now, let’s move on from royalty to The King.

This sweaty shot of “Elvis” star Austin Butler as the icon in the ’70s was too hot not to meme:

After the nearly-finished, $90-million “Batgirl” movie was suddenly cancelled, fans used the meme medium and the hashtag #HBOMaxJustCanceled to theorize what else might be on the chopping block:

Martha Stewart, 81, maintains that Davidson is like a son to her, but that didn’t stop creators from speculating about her relationship with the BDE originator.

The star received a  muted reception for his performance at ‘College GameDay’, and meme-makers had a field day.

His chat with the ESPN panel didn’t do him any favours:

Meanwhile, on the basketball court, NBA refs had questions about — and for — the star:

    Harlow offered a mythically-minded response:

A negroni sbagliato with prosecco in it = stunning! This interview clip discussing drink choices was seized on by fans:

@hbomaxI’ll take one of each. #houseofthedragon♬ a negroni sbagliato w prosecco l hbo max – hbomax

On the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Julia Fox was asked if she was then-boyfriend Kanye “Ye” West’s muse.

She replied, “Yeah. A little. I mean, I was Josh Safdie’s muse when he wrote ‘Uncut Gems’, you know?” But her elaborate pronunciation of “Uncut Gems” was catnip to TikTok users, who garnered millions of views with their imitations of “Unka Jhaaaams.”

Over on Reddit, the most popular celebrity memes of the year featured the beloved Dwayne Johnson:

It’s bad enough to be caught up in an Instagram cheating scandal. It’s even worse when the world makes fun of your (lack of) DM game.

Here’s hoping that 2023 brings an equally mind-blowing meme harvest. That’s our one Christmas wish. It’s the toast we’ll be making on New Year’s Eve. It’s our biggest hope for the holidays. Feel free to meme it.
