  • Early prenatal care, considered best for moms and babies, is on the decline in the US, data shows

    [ad_1]

Early prenatal care improves the chances of having a healthy pregnancy and baby. But a new federal report shows it’s been on the decline. The share of U.S. births to women who began prenatal care in the first trimester dropped from 78.3% in 2021 to 75.5% in 2024, according to data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday.Meanwhile, starting care later in pregnancy or getting no care at all has been on the rise. Prenatal care beginning in the second trimester rose from 15.4% to 17.3%, and starting care in the third trimester or getting no care went from 6.3% to 7.3%.“We know that early engagement in prenatal care is linked to better overall health outcomes,” said Dr. Clayton Alfonso, an OB-GYN at Duke University in North Carolina. When patients delay medical care during pregnancy, “we’ve missed that window to optimize both fetal and maternal care.”While the trend identified in the report held for nearly all racial and ethnic groups, the decrease in early prenatal care was higher for moms in minority groups. For example, first-trimester care dropped from 69.7% in 2021 to 65.1% in 2024 for Black mothers. Getting late or no prenatal care raises the risk of maternal mortality, which is much higher among Black mothers.Michelle Osterman, lead author of the report, said the overall findings represent a shift. Between 2016 and 2021, the timing of when U.S. women started prenatal care had been improving. The earlier prenatal visits begin, doctors said, the earlier problems can be caught. Visits give doctors a chance to share health guidance, and can include blood pressure checks, screenings, blood tests, physical exams and ultrasound scans. The report doesn’t provide reasons why prenatal care is starting later. But the proliferation of maternity care deserts across the nation is a growing concern, said Dr. Grace Ferguson, an OB-GYN in Pittsburgh. Many hospitals have shut down labor and delivery units “and the prenatal care providers that work at those hospitals also have probably moved,” said Ferguson, who was not involved with the report.A 2024 March of Dimes report found that more than 35% of U.S. counties are maternity care deserts, meaning there’s no birthing facility or obstetric provider. Women living in these areas receive less prenatal care, the report showed.Ferguson, who provides abortions as part of her OB-GYN care, said post-Roe v. Wade abortion restrictions may play a part because some obstetricians are choosing not to practice in states with more restrictive laws.Alfonso, who was not involved in the CDC report, said he also suspects that access issues for patients are pushing prenatal care later, particularly in rural areas. Patients may have to travel farther to get to appointments and may struggle to find a practice that accepts their insurance, particularly if they have Medicaid.Doctors fear that things could get worse.“If this trend continues,” Alfonso said, “I worry about kind of what that would mean for morbidity and mortality for our moms.”

Being the child of a Hollywood star has its perks, and one of them is access to a designer wardrobe.

In addition to inheriting their famous parents’ good looks and talent, these nepo babies also have the key to their mothers’ vintage-filled closets.

Carys Zeta Douglas, the daughter of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas, borrowed an iconic look from her mother’s closet in October.

The 22-year-old posed on the red carpet with father Michael in her lace-accented black dress, a frock the movie star wore 20 years ago to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

The Brown University graduate styled the vintage dress with pointed black heels and ruby-hued earrings.

Zeta-Jones originally styled the dress in 2005 with black fringed stilettos and a matching clutch, adding a diamond pendant necklace and earrings.

This is not the first time Zeta-Jones’ daughter borrowed one of her designer dresses.

Carys wore her mother’s pink and white floral Ungaro dress to celebrate her 21st birthday.

The “Mask of Zorro” actress wore the frock in 1999 to the MTV Movie Awards.

    Apple Martin

Apple Martin, daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin, attended the “Marty Supreme” premiere with her mother and brother Moses in December 2025.

The 21-year-old singer and model borrowed a designer dress straight out of Paltrow’s closet.

Apple wore Paltrow’s Calvin Klein slinky black dress she originally wore to the premiere of her film “Emma” in 1996.

Paltrow was 24 when she first wore the stunning low-cut, fitted maxi dress with black heels and a matching clutch. The actress paired the look then with dark lipstick, and her hair was in a messy updo.

Apple went more natural with her makeup and had a more polished hairstyle for the “Marty Supreme” premiere in mid-December.

In 2020, Paltrow told People she saved her red carpet dresses for daughter Apple, 15 years before she was even born.

“I have saved everything for her since 15 years before I had her. I save everything. Not everything, but every red carpet look I have saved for her,” Paltrow told the outlet.

    Dannielynn Birkhead

Dannielynn Birkhead, the daughter of the late Anna Nicole Smith, paid tribute to her mother at the 2025 Barnstable Brown Gala.

Dannielyn, 19, attended the event with her father, Larry Birkhead, in a black and crystal dress that Smith wore in 2004 to the same event.

Larry shared pictures from the event in May 2025 to his Instagram, captioning it, “Dannielynn is wearing Anna Nicole’s dress that she wore 21 years ago to this same event. Life full circle. She said she chose the dress because it was her Mom’s and ‘super cool.’”

While walking the red carpet, Dannielynn told Access Hollywood wearing the dress is “the closest to a hug I can get from her.”

Larry told People at the time it “was emotional” seeing their daughter in her dress because the last time he saw the dress was when Smith wore it. He added that the Barnstable Gala in 2004 was where he met Anna Nicole for the first time.

Smith died Feb. 8, 2007 at 39 from an accidental overdose.

Threapleton, 25, opted for a stylistic homage, not a re-use of the dress.

  • Preciousness: Celebrities Who Welcomed Babies In 2025

    [ad_1]

Source: Taylor Hill / Noam Galai

The year 2025 saw a heartfelt wave of new beginnings in celebrity families, with many Black public figures embracing parenthood and sharing moments of profound joy and bliss with their new bundles of joy. Let’s look at some of the notable arrivals and what these stars have shared about their journeys into motherhood.

Cardi B & Stefon Diggs: Welcoming Their Baby Boy (Nov. 4, 2025)

Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B capped off 2025 with the announcement that she and NFL star Stefon Diggs had welcomed their first child together — a baby boy — on Nov. 4. Cardi, already a mother to three children (Kulture, Wave, and Blossom), shared her joy on Instagram with photos that captured her and Diggs cradling and staring in awe at their newborn son, whose name has yet to be announced.

“11/4,” the rapper captioned the photo carousel she posted Nov. 19.

Cardi spoke about the joy of expanding her family back in September during an interview with Gayle King. The rapper gushed about her romance with Diggs and said their support for one another has been crucial throughout their relationship.

“I’m having a baby with my boyfriend, Stefon Diggs,” Cardi B said during the Sept. 17 interview. “I’m happy … I feel like I’m in a good space. I feel very strong, very powerful that I’m doing all this work, but I’m doing all this work while I’m creating a baby.”

    The rapper continued:

“Me and my man, we’re very supportive of each other. We’re like in the same space in our careers. I feel like we’re really great and one of the best at what we do. And me and him, think the same way. ‘Yeah, you’re one of the greatest, but what’s next. What are we doing again? We have to do it again, all the time.’ We’re never, like, comfortable. We just have to keep going…and that’s just what we are.”

Jasmine Tookes & Juan David Borrero: Son Mateo (Oct. 28, 2025)

On Oct. 28, model and entrepreneur Jasmine Tookes, with husband Juan David Borrero, welcomed their son Mateo Ira Borrero.

Tookes, who walked down the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway weeks prior, donning her big baby bump, shared black-and-white family photos on Instagram, captioning the moment with “The greatest blessing,” a simple yet profound reflection on motherhood and family life.

The carousel captured her cradling Mateo and her daughter, Mia, born in 2023, playing around as they smiled and spent precious family time together.

Celebs in the fashion world poured into the model’s comments section, sending love and congratulations.

“Blessings…happy to continue to see you in Bliss,” wrote legendary model Bethann Hardison.

Runway icon Naomi Campbell penned, “Congratulations on your new bundle of joy.”

While makeup and beauty legend Pat McGrath commented, “CONGRATULATIONS. Sending LOVE.”

Cori Broadus: A Fragile but Beautiful Arrival For Her Baby Daughter (Feb. 28, 2025)

Cori Broadus, daughter of legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, welcomed her baby girl on Feb. 28 with her fiancé Wayne Deuce. The baby’s arrival came three months early due to a severe pregnancy complication known as HELLP syndrome. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the serious pregnancy complication happens when hemolysis is triggered (red blood cells break down), liver enzymes become elevated, and low platelets occur, often linked to severe preeclampsia but sometimes occurring without it. It could be fatal if left untreated.

Broadus delivered via emergency C-section at just 25 weeks, sharing a deeply emotional Instagram announcement that thanked both medical teams and God for their support. Although the early birth was unexpected, she celebrated her daughter’s safe arrival, openly discussing the anxiety, gratitude, and faith intertwined in her birth experience.

“The princess arrived at 6 months,” she captioned a photo of her daughter’s foot. “I’ve cried and cried, I’ve compared and compared, blaming myself because I wasn’t able to give her all that she needed. But no matter what, God always shows me that He got me! Baby girl came at 25 weeks today, and she’s the best!! Thank You God for getting me this far.”

The new mom thanked her care team for treating her HELLP syndrome and urged pregnant moms to always listen to their bodies if they feel something is off.

“[The] doctors told me thank you for coming and if I would’ve waited a few more days, it would’ve been really bad,” she said in an Instagram story. “Ladies, please listen to your bodies and don’t believe everything you see on TikTok ( talking to myself lowkey).”

Cori recently took to Instagram in September with her daughter to support mothers for National NICU Day, which raises awareness about prematurity and supports the challenges that NICU families face.

Skai Jackson: Son Kasai (Jan. 26, 2025)

Former Disney star Skai Jackson rang in 2025 by welcoming her first child, a son named Kasai, which she announced on Jan. 26.

The actress shared a photo of herself holding her son’s tiny hands, with a caption that simply read: “Kasai.”

Jackson announced her pregnancy in late 2024 and carried that excitement into the new year, greeting motherhood with joy and authentic gratitude.

“I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter in my life, embracing motherhood and diving into new acting projects. My heart is so full!” Jackson told People during an interview last year.

Jackson gave fans a look at Kasai in July, sharing a 6-month update. The adorable little one could be seen smiling in overalls as he sat happily on the couch.

Jasmin Brown & Cam Newton: Baby Arrival (Oct. 2025)

Comedian and actress Jasmin Brown and former NFL quarterback Cam Newton expanded their family in 2025 with the birth of their second child together. Newton, already a father of a large blended family of eight, confirmed the birth of his 9th child during an interview with Tamron Hall in October.

“So we’re expecting your ninth baby?” Hall asked the star during their Oct. 16 interview, to which he replied, “Oh, he’s already here.”

This month, Brown, who announced her pregnancy in May, gave fans a sneak peek of her and Cam’s precious bundle of joy. Holding the cutie with his face out of sight of the camera, the comedian could be seen talking to the little one in different voices as she used hilarious filters to accompany each character.

In the caption of her Dec. 4 post, she wrote, “Lol…My son likes it when I talk to him doing different voices. Follow me on Snapchat.”

Cheyenne Floyd Davis & Zach Davis: Baby Boy (Dec. 10, 2025)

Reality TV personality Cheyenne Floyd Davis and husband Zach Davis welcomed their third child, a baby boy, on Dec. 10. Their journey was marked by fertility struggles shared openly on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter, revealing how they learned of the pregnancy just days before scheduled fertility treatments.

In May, Cheyenne expressed immense gratitude, calling her third pregnancy “proof that even in the waiting, even in the heartbreak, miracles are still being written.”

In addition to their new baby boy, Cheyenne and Zach share children Ace, 4, and Ryder, 8.

    Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton ( Oct. 1, 2025)

Lauren Speed-Hamilton and Cameron Hamilton, beloved alums from the first season of Love Is Blind, welcomed their first child—a baby boy named Ezra—on Oct. 1, at 8:18 p.m. Speaking exclusively with People, the Hamiltons shared the joyous news. Lauren, 37, said that the arrival of their son, who weighed in at 5 lbs., 15 oz., made their long and emotional fertility journey “worth it.”

“He’s been such a blessing already,” she gushed to People.

Lauren underwent in vitro fertilization treatment before welcoming her new bundle of joy, a process she described as “tough” on a 2024 episode of her podcast The Love Seat, which she hosts alongside her husband.

“It still feels surreal that we have a son after four years of trying to conceive,” she shared. “That said, the 4 a.m. feedings and diaper changes have definitely made it feel more real. I’m grateful for it all.”

From the exhilaration of planned family expansions to challenging medical journeys that ended in triumph, these Black celebrities brought 2025 into beautiful focus with their incredible children and we can’t wait to see them grow.

  • Michael Douglas and Rob Reiner ‘talked a lot about’ their sons’ struggles with addictions

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Michael Douglas and Rob Reiner often spoke to each other about parenting children with drug addictions and the challenges it comes with.

Douglas, 81, reflected on their conversations about their sons — Reiner with his son Nick and Michael with his son Cameron – while appearing on the CBS News special “Rob Reiner: Scenes from a Life.”

“With this terrible tragedy, we’re realizing how much pressure he was dealing with in his personal life with his son. I also had a son who had drug issues. And I’m happy to say he’s overcome them and he’s living a prosperous life. But we talked a lot about that: What you can do as a parent, what you can’t do,” Douglas said.

“So knowing with all of that going on behind the scenes, this was a man who always gave you his best,” Douglas, who appeared in Reiner’s films “The American President” and “And So It Goes,” added.

In 2019, Cameron opened up about his drug addiction, which included using cocaine and heroin, and dealing methamphetamines while carrying a gun, while speaking to People magazine.

Cameron was released from prison in 2016, after serving seven years for drug charges. He is dad to two kids with ex-girlfriend Viviane Thiebes: daughter Lua and son Ryder.

Nick’s struggle with addiction led to 18 rehab visits since age 15.

In September, Rob said Nick had been clean from drugs for six years, and was in a “really good place,” in an interview with NPR.

On Sunday, Dec. 14, police found the bodies of Rob and Michele in their bedroom of their Brentwood, California, home. Rob was 78 and Michele was 70 years old.

Hours later, Nick was arrested near Exposition Park – which is near the University of Southern California campus.

Last week, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiners’ office later said that they died due to multiple sharp force injuries.

On Saturday night — one night before Rob and Michele’s murder – they got into an argument with Nick at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party, family friends told the Los Angeles Times.

Many party attendees also noticed that Nick behaved strangely at the holiday party, per the outlet.

Two days after their death, Nick was charged with two counts of murder.

“He also faces a special allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon, that being a knife,” Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said during a press conference. “These charges carry a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole, or the death penalty.”

ROB REINER AND WIFE MICHELE’S KIDS ‘GRATEFUL FOR THE OUTPOURING OF LOVE,’ ANNOUNCE FUTURE MEMORIAL SERVICE

On Monday, Dec. 22, Rob and Michele’s kids Romy and Jake spoke out about their parents.

“Jake and Romy Reiner remain grateful for the outpouring of love and support they have received,” their spokesperson shared with People magazine.

“They will share information about a memorial service honoring their parents at a later date,” the spokesperson added.

Their latest statement comes after Romy and Jake broke their silence on Dec. 17, three days after their parent’s murder.

“Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day. The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience. They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends,” they told People last Wednesday.

“We are grateful for the outpouring of condolences, kindness, and support we have received not only from family and friends but people from all walks of life. We now ask for respect and privacy, for speculation to be tempered with compassion and humanity, and for our parents to be remembered for the incredible lives they lived and the love they gave,” they added.

The “Please Me” rapper took to Instagram on Thursday, Nov. 13 to announce that she has given birth her baby boy with boyfriend Stefon Diggs.

This is Cardi’s first child with Diggs, but she is already a mother to three children with her estranged husband Offset: 7-year-old daughter Kulture, 4-year-old son Wave, and 1-year-old daughter Blossom.

The former Love & Hip Hop star dropped the news in the caption of an Instagram video, which features her lip-synching to her song, “Hello.”

“My life has always been a combination of different chapters and different seasons,” she began in her caption. “My last chapter was the beginning of a new season. Starting over is never easy but it’s been so worth it! I brought new music and a new album to the world! A new baby into my world, and one more reason to be the best version of me, one more reason to love me more than anything else or anyone else so I can continue giving my babies the love and life they deserve. This next chapter is Me vs. Me!”

The rapper continued: “It’s me against all odds me against everything meant to get in my way. I’ve started prepping for tour getting my body right getting my mind right. There’s nothing thats gonna stop me from giving you guys the performance of a life time! I’ve learned i’ve healed, and im loving the woman i’ve become! Thats what this next era means to me and i’m stepping into it better than ever.”

Following Cardi’s post, TMZ revealed that Cardi gave birth to her baby boy last week. Their sources also said the New England Patriots receiver was with her when their child arrived.

Diggs revealed the sex of their child earlier this month, talking about how excited he was to do all of the typical father-son activities with his little one.

“It’s a boy. That’s enough for me,” he told People a couple weeks ago. “I can’t wait to make him do push-ups and sit-ups and run around.”

Congrats to the happy couple on the new addition!

  • Stefon Diggs’ Paternity Test Proves He Is Father of Model’s Baby

    [ad_1]

The results of a paternity test reportedly prove that Cardi B’s boyfriend, NFL player Stefon Diggs, is the father of model Aileen Lopera’s baby girl.

“The paternity has been confirmed. Mr. Diggs is the father of the child,” Lopera’s lawyer, Tamar Arminak, told Page Six on Wednesday, November 5. “Now that the child’s paternity has been established and Mr. Diggs has acknowledged his daughter, my client hopes they can work toward being great parents to their child.”

Arminak noted that the case has not been dismissed and “will move forward if the parties are not able to resolve [their issue] themselves.”

Lopera, known as Lord Giselle on Instagram, filed a paternity suit against Diggs, 31, in Los Angeles in December 2024. She requested legal and physical custody of her baby, who was born in April. Lopera named her Charliee Harper Diggs-Lopera.

In her filing, Lopera also asked the court to order Diggs to pay child support and cover the expenses related to her pregnancy and legal fees.

In July, the New England Patriots wide receiver responded to the suit. He said he wasn’t certain that he was the father and requested genetic testing. He also asked for joint legal and physical custody of the child if the DNA test proved paternity.

“My client looks forward to the day Mr. Diggs acknowledges and provides for his infant daughter in Los Angeles,” Arminak told Us Weekly in September.

That month, Cardi, 33, revealed in an interview with Gayle King“I’m having a baby with my boyfriend, Stefon Diggs. I’m excited.”

Cardi B reacted to the news that her boyfriend, Stefon Diggs, is being sued for paternity by another woman — and seemed unbothered by the drama. “Hello, Barbara, this is Shirley,” the Grammy winner, 32, said in a recent Instagram Live video, referencing Shirley Brown’s 1974 song “Woman to Woman,” which is about a woman […]

She added: “I’m happy. I feel like I’m in a good space. I feel very strong, very powerful that I’m doing all this work — but I’m doing all this work while I’m creating a baby.”

Earlier this week, Diggs revealed during his appearance at the CFDA Fashion Awards in New York City that he and Cardi are expecting a boy and he’s due “soon.”

Cardi and her ex, Offset, share three children: Kulture Kiari Cephus, 7, Wave Set Cephus, 4, and Blossom Belle, 1.

Cardi told King, 70, that Diggs makes her feel “safe and very confident and very strong.” He recently gave her a pep talk while she was upset amid the release of her latest album, Am I the Drama?

Cardi already shares daughter Kulture, 7, son Wave, 3, and […]

“I was like crying and crying and crying, just because I was getting really nervous with the whole album rollout,” the rapper explained at the time. “People were coming at me very hard; you know, sometimes people love you, people hate you. And people was just saying very mean things about me.”

Cardi continued, “I was like, ‘See, this is why I don’t put music out?’ This is my art and something I put a lot of time to and it’s just like sometimes, when people just rip it apart, it just hurts you and it crushes you. • Ben Stiller confesses ‘worst decision’ that still haunts him as a dad

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Ben Stiller said the “worst decision” he ever made was cutting his daughter out of a film he directed and starred in.

“I cut you out of ‘Secret Life of Walter Mitty.’ It’s probably the worst decision I ever made in my life,” the 59-year-old told his daughter, Ella, 23, in his upcoming documentary about his parents, according to People magazine.

Ella admitted the scene where she was supposed to play Mitty’s daughter “didn’t really make sense in the movie.”

Stiller starred as the title character in the 2013 film.

“For me, it kind of goes deeper,” Stiller continued. “What it relates to is my own issues with my own obsessions with my work, or perfectionism.”

His documentary “Stiller & Meara: Nothing Is Lost,” which debuted in select theaters Oct. 17 and will premiere globally on Apple TV+ Oct. 24, is about his parents, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara. The two were a successful mid-century comedy duo who then transitioned into sitcom regulars on shows like “Seinfeld,” “Sex and the City” and “The King of Queens.”

In the documentary, Stiller opened up about growing up with parents who were often on the road or doing shows late in the evening.

“I think the deeper that you go into learning about your parents, and not about them as parents but just as people, always gives you a different perspective on your own life,” he told Time Magazine. “I really do feel like the experience of delving in gave me more empathy for them.”

In an interview with The Sunday Times, he noted that he “probably f—-ed up more with my kids than my parents did with us.”

Stiller and his wife, actress Christine Taylor, also share a son Quinn, 20.

“My son tells me that being a dad might not have been at the top of my list,” he told the outlet. “Like any parent, I remember things that weren’t happy about my childhood and go, ‘I’ll do better,’ And then I realized it was impossible to avoid making the mistakes they made.”

Still, he said he feels like he has a “really great relationship with my kids, but it’s complicated and has at times been strained. When they were young, I did not get it. “That was a strain on my relationship with the kids. And I’d think, ‘Well, my parents never did that,’” he said. “But a long relationship is hard. You lose the freshness. I feel bad about what us breaking up did to the kids, but it was possibly the best thing to happen to Christine and me.”

In 2023, Taylor spoke about getting back with Stiller on “The Drew Barrymore Show.”

“We always stayed a family unit,” Taylor told Barrymore. “So, when the pandemic hit, and we all had to figure out where to hunker down, we all ended up in our house together with two teenagers, and we found this way back.

“We had so much time to talk. There were no other distractions … it just happened organically.”

The “Zoolander” star told The Sunday Times the temporary breakup changed their relationship.

“We don’t take it for granted anymore,” he said of their marriage. “And if you are happy, you’re going to be a better parent. You have hurdles and try to figure it out, and if you stay, all you can do is acknowledge the past and try to repair. That’s what we have in our family. It’s not perfect — at all. • Celebrity Babies of 2025: See Which Stars Gave Birth This Year

    [ad_1]

The singer-songwriter and his wife announced via a joint Instagram post in June 2025 that they’d welcomed a son.

The couple cuddled with their newborn in an adorable photo and wrote in the caption, “6.23.25 We love you lil man.”

Wright later reshared some black-and-white photos of her son via her Instagram Stories to celebrate this very special moment. “He’s perfect and my heart is exploding,” she wrote.

After the pair announced they were expecting their first baby in January, Swims revealed the hilarious way the couple found out the news.

“She was complaining of things that we thought were period symptoms. And I was like, these have been going on for a while, maybe we should check this out,” Swims explained on The Kelly Clarkson Show. “So we’re in our hotel the next day, I don’t remember where we’re off. And weirdly, as we’re driving through Austin, she’d never been to a Buc-ee’s [convenience store] before, which is my favorite place in the whole world. And so I was like, you gotta go. Half my wardrobe is Buc-ee’s.”

The pair stopped in at the Austin, Texas, convenience store to fill up on gas and then decided to try out a pregnancy test because of Wright’s symptoms.

“So we’re there, we’re eating Chili’s in our onesies, we go home and we do the test. We do, like, three of them and it’s like, immediately yes you’re pregnant,” Swims remembered. “So we’re freaking out, we’re finding this out in our Buc-ee’s [onesies]. Until we find a name, we’re just calling boy or girl ‘Baby Buc-ee.’ I’m going to call it Buc-ee, I don’t care what the name is!”

  • Rihanna’s New 3rd Baby’s Name Brings Us One Step Closer to a Unified Theory of Kardashianism

    [ad_1]

On Wednesday, Rihanna and partner A$AP Rocky announced via Instagram that they’d welcomed their third child together, the couple’s first daughter. The baby’s biological sex isn’t the only thing different this time around: The happy parents unveiled the baby’s name at the same time they revealed the baby, too, less than two weeks after her birth. “Rocki Irish Mayers,” Rihanna wrote in her caption. “Sept 13 2025.”

Baby Rocki’s arrival and the subsequent heraldic announcement of her birth follows one family tradition, that of R-names (Rihanna’s legal name is Robyn, and Rocky’s is Rakim, and big brothers RZA and Riot Rose continued the line), and supports the idea one can be both a baddie and a Pinterest mom. The third time around, this is the most timely reveal of a Rihanna offspring’s photo, name, and birth date thus far.

Remember that it was nearly a year (two days short, to be exact) after eldest son RZA’s birth that his name and birth date were revealed, and newly minted middle child Riot Rose’s name was kept under wraps for a bit over a month.

On Instagram Wednesday, Rihanna shared photos of herself cradling the snoozing infant (the delight is in the details here, Rih is sporting a baby-pink manicure, a gold watch with a pale pink face, and a gold “MOM” ring, plus arm cuffs affixed with oversized pink bows, lest the rosiness of the situation be overlooked), and a pair of teeny tiny, silky blossom pink boxing gloves, ribbons artfully trailing, perhaps an homage to another famous Rocky, the boxer played by Sylvester Stallone. (Some parents just use socks to stop their newborns from accidentally scratching themselves with their tiny fingernails, but Rihanna is, as usual, doing Rihanna stuff. It works.)

Of course, three is a trend, and Rihanna warned in a June red carpet interview with Entertainment Tonight that when it comes to her kids, “it’s always going to be an R name. That’s the one thing me and Rocky don’t fight over,” she said.

Rocki was following family custom before she even made her debut: Like her big brothers before her, even her impending arrival was announced in showstopping fashion. Rihanna revealed her first pregnancy with a Chanel-bedecked street style photo, and her second pregnancy while performing the halftime show for the Super Bowl 2023. Never one to repeat a schtick, Rihanna debuted her latest bump on the Met Gala 2025 red carpet, making a strong case for the Marc Jacobs maternity corset.

Rocky the elder told Elle in a profile interview, published Wednesday, that he and Rihanna hadn’t known the sex of the baby before birth, but that he had his fingers crossed for a little girl. “I feel like it’s going to be a girl,” he said. “This pregnancy is so different from the other two. You can tell from the experience. I hope it’s a baby girl, man. I need that.”

Baby Rocki’s arrival also brings science and society one step closer to a definitive proof of a Unified Theory of Kardashianism: Kris Jenner revolutionized the alliterative naming convention for future famous siblings, borrowing her own first initial for Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Kendall, and Kylie’s names (sorry, Rob). The most recent famous baby Rocky is also a fruit of that particular genetic loom: Kourtney’s child with husband Travis Barker, Rocky Thirteen Barker, born in November 2023. That Rocky has already made his reality TV debut (albeit with his face obscured) on The Kardashians, portending a possible future in the family business. Will the newest Rocki in the quarry follow suit?

Reps for Rihanna and Rocky did not immediately respond to Vanity Fair’s request for comment, their hands perhaps full with their three kids.

  • It’s A Girl! Rihanna Welcomes Third Child, First Daughter, Rocki Irish, With A$AP Rocky

    [ad_1]

Rihanna and A$AP Rocky finally got their baby girl!

    Source: Photonews / Getty

The songstress and the rapper announced the big news on Wednesday, September 24, revealing that the Fenty founder gave birth to a baby girl. This addition to their family has been a long time coming, as both stars have been vocal about wanting a daughter since they first started expanding their clan.

The baby girl was born on September 13 and is named Rocki Irish Mayers.

The couple, who have been together since 2020, first announced that they were expecting baby No. 3. on May 5, 2025. Rihanna debuted her baby bump while walking around New York City, and Rocky later confirmed the big news on the 2025 Met Gala red carpet.

The pair are already parents to two sons: RZA Athelston, born in 2022, and Riot Rose, who arrived in 2023. Though Rih and Rocky weren’t actively planning to start a family when they became pregnant with their first child, the “Diamonds” singer did tell Vogue that the two were “certainly not planning against it” either.

“I always thought it would be marriage first, then a baby, but who the f**k says it has to be that way,” she told the outlet in April 2022. “I’m certainly not gonna let that get in the way of me being a mom.”

From the moment they started their family, it became immediately clear just how much the couple loves being parents. They have never shied away from gushing over their little ones, but after welcoming two boys, they admitted to wanting to have at least one daughter.

During a conversation with stylist Mel Ottenberg for Interview Magazine in April 2024, prior to her third pregnancy, Rihanna was asked how many more kids she wanted to have.

“As many as God wants me to have,” Rih said at the time. “I don’t know what God wants, but I would go for more than two. I would try for my girl. But of course if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”

During an interview with Extra in July, Rihanna teased host Terri Seymour about fans’ desires for a daughter, asking, “Oh, my gosh, are you guys going to be so hurt if it’s a boy?”

“I think we’re secretly hoping you have a girl, secretly, because you’ve got your two sweet, sweet boys,” host Terri Seymour explained before asking: “And do you want a girl?”

“I’ve always wanted a girl,” Rihanna admitted. “God knows best, right? And I love my boys.”

In the same interview, the Fenty founder said that RZA and Riot are “delighted” to be getting a younger sibling, and confirmed that she and Rocky will also be giving their third-born a name that begins with the letter R.

“I mean, of course,” she said. It’s tradition at this point.”

Fans were quick to assume Rocky confirmed the sex of their third baby during an interview with Entertainment Tonight while supporting Rihanna at the Smurfs premiere in Brussels back in June.

During the conversation, host Kevin Frazier asked Rocky, “Is that the girl you’ve been waiting for?” to which Rocky replied, “It is, man, it is.” He then quickly pivoted, holding up a Smurfette doll, saying, “Right here, right here.”

Frazier tried for an actual confirmation, adding, “You know what I’m asking,” to which Rocky just laughed.

Congratulations to Rihanna and Rocky on finally welcoming their baby girl!

  • Sarah Michelle Gellar faces backlash over daughter’s lavish 16th birthday gift

    [ad_1]

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Sarah Michelle Gellar is catching some heat from the online parenting police.

On Friday, the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star — who shares daughter, Charlotte, 16, and son, Rocky, 13, with husband, Freddie Prinze Jr. — took to social media to wish her eldest a “Happy Birthday,” but was quickly met with criticism.

“16 years ago today, you made me a mom. I believe the quote is … a daughter is just a little girl who grows up to be your best friend. Charlotte, you are that and so much more,” Gellar wrote on Instagram, alongside a carousel of photos. “You are strong, you are inspiring, you are kind, you are funny (almost as funny as me 😉) and most importantly you are one of a kind, the best kind. I’m so lucky to call you my best friend. And I’m equally excited to finally be your passenger PRINZEss.”

Among those photos included a couple snaps of a brand-new Jeep topped with a large red bow.

Some people in the comments section were quick to judge Gellar for her generous gift.

“Really great choice of first car for the planet.. go burn loads of fuel on roads with your off road 4×4!,” one follower commented.

“My son had to work hard and save up to buy his first car, like myself and my wife,” another wrote.

“This is ridiculous for a 16 yr old,” one user added.

But others stuck up for Gellar.

“If her parents want to buy a car for her birthday, let them,” one fan argued. “If they want to buy her a college education, let them. If they want to buy her a brand-new pet, let them. At the end of the day, it’s their money, their child, their business.”

“This is a nice wholesome post. Figures all the jealous, bitter people would find a way to be upset,” another added.

“We need to normalize not being petty and jealous that someone has what you don’t,” another user wrote.

Representatives for Gellar did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Earlier this year, Gellar opened up about the secret to her long-lasting marriage with Prinze.

Hager couldn’t hold back her surprise, asking the actress, “That’s it? It’s that simple?” to which Gellar responded, “It’s that simple.”

The couple first met when filming the hit movie “I Know What You Did Last Summer” in 1997, but they didn’t start dating until three years later, in 2000. After just two years of dating, the two tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony in Mexico in 2002, later welcoming their two children.

In an interview with Fox News Digital in December 2024, Gellar put the blame for the high divorce rate in America on shifting societal views.

She explained that many people don’t put in the effort when it comes to making relationships work, explaining that “everything takes work in you, whether it’s a friendship or a work relationship or a marriage.”

“You have to put the work in, and we live in an extremely disposable society now,” she explained. “Your phone breaks, you don’t fix it. You get a new one, and I think that’s a lot of the attitude toward relationships.”

  • New mom “so worried” about baby with cane corso—then comes videocall

    [ad_1]

A heartwarming TikTok video has captured the gentle first steps of friendship between a St. Louis family’s cane corso and their newborn baby—long before the pair even met in person.

The clip, posted by Brittany Hogan (@brittanyandjax), has racked up more than 3.3 million views and shows her husband carefully preparing their 145-pound, 5-year-old dog Jax to welcome their new daughter.

While recovering in the hospital after giving birth, Hogan watched via video call as her husband introduced Jax to the baby in a thoughtful, scent-based ritual. The text over the video recorded last year explains the family’s initial concern: “He didn’t like kids at the time, we had no idea how he’d react.”

The American Kennel Club (AKC) says that this breed isn’t the type to befriend every person or canine they encounter. They typically remain aloof toward outsiders, but show unwavering loyalty and a strong protective instinct toward their family.

Two screenshots from the viral video showing Jax sniffing the newborn’s blanket in his owner’s hand and in the bassinet.

    TikTok/@brittanyandjax

During the clip, the husband begins by holding out the newborn’s blanket for Jax to sniff. The dog’s nose twitches as he takes in the unfamiliar scent, clearly aware that something significant has changed. The man then places the blanket in the baby’s bassinet and leaves another one on Jax’s bed, even letting the animal sniff Hogan’s labor gown.

For the next four days—while Hogan and the newborn remained in the hospital—Jax repeatedly returned to the bassinet to inhale the baby’s scent, lingering quietly as if standing guard for the infant’s homecoming.

The video’s heartfelt caption reads: “I remember being so worried about how he would react. He is the most perfect boy. It’s incredible how they just KNOW.”

Viewers around the world have been touched by the cane corso’s instinctive devotion, with many sharing their own experiences of introducing pets to newborns.

In the comments, Hogan reassured a concerned user: “Jax doesn’t like people, dogs or other kids. It will be okay.”

One popular reply with over 60,000 likes captured the sentiment perfectly: “Girl he just don’t like other ppl [people] kids, that’s his kid.”

Another viewer added: “Corso’s are natural guardians and will guard their pack. They are great with children. I have no children and my Corso loves all kids and is so gentle with them.”

How To Introduce Your Dog to Your New Baby

These AKC-recommended tips can make your baby’s first meeting with your beloved pet a calm, positive experience.

    • Stay calm and balanced: Dogs sense your body language and pheromones, so avoid projecting anxiety about their reaction to the baby.
    • Practice relaxed breathing: Work on breathing normally and not holding your breath when canine and child are together.
    • Plan interactions: Map out each dog/child encounter, starting simple and aiming for small, positive successes.
    • Support your dog’s emotional health: Speak with your vet about strategies to ease canine anxiety.
    • Maintain a safe space: Ensure the crate remains a private sanctuary for your dog, off-limits to children.

  • Private Papá: Miguel Reveals He Secretly Welcomed A Baby With Partner Margaret Zhang Last Year

    [ad_1]

Miguel is a first-time father, an announcement that comes just a few years after the end of his longtime relationship and marriage.

    Source: Stefanie Keenan / Getty

The singer took to Instagram to share the big news, revealing that he and partner Margaret Zhang privately welcomed their first baby last year. The announcement came in the form of a tribute post for the little one’s first birthday.

“Our baby turned 1 today,” Miguel wrote on Tuesday, Sept. 9. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGELITO!!!”

“We love you so much,” he continued alongside a video of him and his baby, whose face is blurred out. “So proud and honored that you chose us to be your parents. Papá wrote you a song—hope it always reminds you of how loved you are.”

News Miguel’s first child comes three years after he and ex Nazanin Mandi finalized their divorce after 3 years of marriage. According to documents obtained by E! News, Nazanin filed for the dissolution of their union in California, citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple had an on-again off-again relationship for years, having gotten back together four months after their initial breakup in September 2021. The pair first began dating when they were just 19 and 18 years old.

“When you’re with somebody starting from 18, a lot of things happen,” Nazanin told E! News after their 2018 wedding. “There’s a lot of growth. There’s a lot of growing pains and all through our twenties was the time to get our minds right, to really find ourselves and through that process, fortunately, we grew together and not apart.”

As for Miguel’s new partner, Margaret Zhang has been the singer’s partner for at least two years, according to reports from Vibe. The couple has been pictured together multiple times over the past couple of years, though it seems they’re trying to keep their relationship as private as possible, as evidenced by their decision to keep their parenthood private for a year.

Zhang was born and raised in Australia and is ethnically Chinese. She attended the University of Sydney, where she got both Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees.

She is the former Editor-In-Chief of Vogue China, working for the esteemed magazine from February 2021 to June 2024. Hired at just 27, she was the youngest EIC of any edition of Vogue.

While the timeline of their relationship is blurry, Margaret and Miguel started to be seen together frequently in 2023. This falls five months after Nazanin Mandi filed for divorce from the R&B singer. • Mom shares video of baby eating ice cream—days later, life changes forever

    [ad_1]

A mother has illustrated how quickly and completely her daughter’s life changed—just by sharing a video of her eating ice cream.

Erica Minond, 31, lives in New Jersey, and is mom to a baby boy born earlier this year, and her two-and-a-half-year old daughter, Lydia.

Minond runs TikTok account @lydia.jean.pdcd, which she uses to raise awareness of a rare disease her daughter lives with: PDCD, or Pyruvate Dehydrogenase Complex Deficiency.

As Minond explained it to Newsweek, PDCD “is a rare, life-limiting genetic disease that prevents the body from using sugar and carbohydrates for energy.”

“Normally when we eat carbs, the body turns them into fuel to power the brain and muscles. In PDCD the ‘gate’ that allows this conversion is essentially broken,” she said. “Instead of becoming energy, sugar builds up and turns into acid in the blood. At the same time, the brain and body are left starving for ‘fuel’.

“For Lydia, this means carbs are toxic.”

Since 2023, the dedicated mother has been running Lydia’s TikTok account to share her journey with PDCD, and on August 23 she shared what first appeared to be a sweet but ordinary clip of Lydia as a baby, trying her first mouthful of ice cream.

In the clip, Lydia, then aged five months, smiles at her mom with bight blue ice cream around her mouth—but Minond wrote over it: “Late night finds but it’s the only video I’ll ever have of my daughter eating ice cream because five days after this she was diagnosed with a terminal condition where her body can’t break down sugar.”

“A little over two years later and I still get upset thinking of all the foods Lydia will never be able to enjoy due to this condition,” she added in a caption.

Minond explained to Newsweek that Lydia was born “healthy,” with “no sign of anything wrong at birth or in the weeks after.”

By four months old, Lydia was not properly holding her head up by herself, and while she was diagnosed with low muscle tone, doctors suggested she would likely “catch up,” and it was not a major issue. But Minond, noticing Lydia’s pupils were two different sizes, and that she favored her right side, “had a gut feeling something was not right, despite multiple doctors’ assurance that she was fine.”

She took things into her own hands, seeking genetic testing for diseases that present similarly to cerebral palsy, and received the results when her daughter was five-and-a-half months old, changing their lives forever.

If Lydia eats carbs, her body produces lactic acid, which builds up in the blood and “can make her dangerously ill very quickly,” with symptoms including vomiting, lethargy, confusion, seizures, loss of consciousness, organ failure, and even death.

The only way to keep her daughter “safe,” Minond said, is with an extremely strict medical ketogenic diet for the entirety of her life, which doesn’t cure the disease, but slows its progression.

“For most kids, sugar is a treat, but for Lydia it could take her life. Her future is still uncertain, but every day on the medical ketogenic diet gives her more time to grow and learn.”

A ketogenic diet lacks carbohydrates—such as milk, grains, pasta and potatoes— and is instead rich in proteins and fats, typically including meats, eggs, cheese, fish and fibrous vegetables. It is difficult to follow—carbohydrates usually account for around 50 percent of the typical American diet, according to Harvard Health.

A 2017 study published in the National Library of Medicine studied the short and long-term outcomes of a ketogenic diet in PDCD found that it had a positive effect, particularly in epilepsy, ataxia, sleep disturbance, speech and language development, social functioning and frequency of hospitalizations.

She shared the video of her daughter’s first and only taste of ice cream to showcase that “my daughter will never be able to have a scoop, let alone a single bite, of ‘regular’ ice cream ever again in her life.”

But, she said, the clip exploded in popularity “for the wrong reasons.”

The video has been viewed close to 700,000 times, but some commenters chose to take that opportunity to scold Minond for giving her ice cream in the first place, which is generally not recommended until a baby is older than six months or a year.

One commenter wrote: “Yeah cause she shouldn’t have ice cream when she’s only like four months old.”

However plenty leapt to Minond’s defence, with one replying to a commenter who said Lydia was “too young for artificial sugar” by writing: “Too young for a terminal illness. But here we are.”

Minond herself replied to one commenter: “Thankfully the 3 bites of ice cream she ate didn’t cause her terminal GENETIC condition. She was born with it. The 3 bites of ice cream have not impacted her health at all. Thanks though!”

And as one commenter put it: “All these comments about her age. At least she got to try it.”

“Because her brain runs on limited energy, her development is delayed and the condition is considered terminal,” she said. “Every day is a balance of protecting her from the foods her body cannot handle while ensuring she gets the fuel she needs to live and grow.”

Now two-and-a-half years old, Lydia has recently started to walk, and has up to 20 words in her vocabulary—skills her mother describes as “miracles.”

“When we first received her diagnosis we were provided with the grim statistic that 90 percent of children diagnosed with this condition die by 4 years old, and she would likely never walk or talk.”

Since Lydia’s diagnosis, Minond has found solace in parent-led non-profit Hope for PDCD Foundation, dedicated to finding a cure for the disease and which “helps give children with PDCD, like Lydia, a chance at more time, better quality of life, and hope for the future.”

And despite her health difficulties, Minond said her daughter has grown into a “funny, curious, loving, and opinionated” little girl.

“She loves Ms. Rachel and loves to paint. She is truly such a special, happy girl.”

  • Tiffany Haddish Finally Addresses Rumor She Welcomed A Child With Jason Lee: ‘The Whole World Has Lost Their Mind Over This Beautiful Baby’

The actress and comedian continued her weeklong guest-hosting gig on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, Aug. 19, and during her monologue, she finally addressed claims that she had welcomed a baby with her good friend Jason Lee.

This comes a few weeks after the star left fans wondering if she had secretly welcomed a child after she posted a snap with Lee while holding a baby. Though the pair were obviously trying to stir up some drama with the post, captioning their joint baby pic with, “Cats out the bag,” Haddish acted like she didn’t understand all of the confusion around her upload.

“There is a personal matter I feel must be addressed,” she began during her monologue. “Two weeks ago, I put something on the Instagram that made everyone go a little crazy. It was a picture of me and my friend Jason Lee posing with the baby and the caption, ‘Cats out the bag.’ ”

She continued, “For some reason, people saw this and thought I had a baby. “Like, there were articles about this everywhere. Even my own relatives were asking if I had a secret baby, which is kind of insulting because they are all living in my house and blocking me from getting any d**k.”

Haddish went on to ask Lee, who was in the audience, what he thought about the rumors. He also played coy, once again acting like he didn’t know why the post was met with so much confusion.

“The whole world has lost their mind over this beautiful baby,” he said, with Haddish adding, “We just took a picture with a baby and then that went crazy so now we got a godbaby.”

The comedian continued, “Jason, the offer still is on the table if you want to make a real baby together,” she teased, adding, “You know I’m traditional.”

Lee responded, “And I’m still gay.”

That’s when Haddish addressed the claims head-on, saying: “So just to be clear, I did not have a baby, but I am open to it…Wide open to it.”

“I even have a list of potential baby daddies,” the actress continued, naming stars like Tom Cruise, Jason Momoa and Brad Pitt. She also included New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton, broadcaster Melvin Robert, Jimmy Kimmel Live! producer Ken Crosby, actor Pedro Pascal and the character Marcus Winfield, played by Toby Sandeman, on the Netflix series Running Point.

“Now, if you or someone you know wants to put a baby in me, please reach out on social media using the hashtag #PastramiMommy,” Tiffany concluded.

  • How to Transition From Bottle to Sippy Cup

    [ad_1]

A sippy cup is more similar to a bottle than an open cup, making it easier for babies who have been exclusively breastfed or bottle-fed to adjust. While some parents worry that sippy cups might increase the risk of tooth decay and other dental issues due to recent concerns, this is typically only a problem for children who carry them around filled with juice or milk all day. Besides, parents who go directly from bottles to cups often have to spend a lot more time teaching their children how to use them and they also have to deal with more messes and laundry. Sippy cups are practically spill-proof which means that, as a busy parent, you won’t have to spend your time dealing with unexpected messes. This is why it’s important to know when to use a sippy cup and how to help your little one transition to it.

Get a Sippy Cup That’s Easy To Use

Don’t choose a sippy cup based on how it looks – some of the cutest cups are difficult for babies to use or they leak constantly. The best sippy cups are designed to be easy for babies to use – they have handles that your baby can comfortably grasp and a textured surface to help improve their grip. You can also choose a sippy cup with a soft spout as it will feel more like a bottle nipple so your child is more likely to accept it. The reason that we use sippy cups for our kids is to help them transition from sucking from a bottle to sipping from a cup. Many sippy cups have a spill-preventing valve to prevent messes. Unfortunately, this also defeats the purpose of a sippy cup because the valve makes them suck and not sip, so avoid these cups. Instead, get a sippy cup that is leak-proof and weighted on the bottom so that it won’t tip over as easily.

Don’t Fill It up Right Away

The first time that your child sees a sippy cup, they will be fascinated by, what seems to be, their new toy! Even though they don’t know how to use it as of yet, it’s important that they get the chance to satiate their curiosity about this new object before they start using it. You can gently show them how to hold it even if it’s empty, just so they get used to it. If possible, do this every morning for a few days, around the time that they have a feed.

    Start With Favorites

When you fill your baby’s sippy cup for the first time, go with familiar fluids, especially ones that they love. According to guidelines by the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics), breast milk and formula are good options for the first couple of times so that your little one gets used to the sipping action. After that, you should switch to water so that they can use it multiple times a day without the risk of any dental issues.

    Celebrate Success

It can take several days of trial and error for your baby to learn to use their sippy cup so stay calm and be patient. Apply some of the milk or formula onto the straw or spout of the cup to encourage your little one to take a sip. Celebrate success with plenty of praise and if possible, get the family to join in the celebration.  Positive reinforcement works very well with babies and toddlers and is very effective in helping them try out and learn new things. If your child is in daycare, inform their daycare providers so that they can follow the same routine to maintain consistency.

You Can Start Around 4-6 Months Old

As a general rule of thumb, by the time babies are six months old, their motor skills have developed sufficiently that they can use a sippy cup. However, every child is unique and some kids may be ready at four months while others might only be ready at eight months. This is why medical researchers recommend that you pay attention to your baby’s cues for cup readiness. For instance, if your baby is able to sit independently, holds objects with both hands and brings them to their mouth, you know that your little one is ready for a sippy cup.

  • Olivia Munn and John Mulaney Welcome a Baby Girl, Méi June Mulaney, Via Surrogate

Olivia Munn and John Mulaney Welcome a Baby Girl, Méi June Mulaney, Via Surrogate

    [ad_1]

Olivia Munn and John Mulaney welcomed a second child together last week, daughter Méi June Mulaney, Munn shared via Instagram Sunday. The couple, who quietly tied the knot in July, are also parents to 2-year-old son Malcolm.

    Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

“I am so proud of my little plum, my little dragon, for making the journey to be with us,” she wrote.

Munn shared on Instagram that Méi, whose name means “plum” in Chinese and was born September 14, was carried by a surrogate, whom Munn called “a real-life angel.” Munn has undergone several surgeries as part of what she characterized as “aggressive” treatment for breast cancer, including a double mastectomy and related reconstructive surgeries, an oophorectomy and hysterectomy, and more. The surgeries meant removing Munn’s ovaries, uterus, and fallopian tubes to prevent her body from creating estrogen, which her type of breast cancer responds to. In the same June Vogue interview detailing her treatment, Munn said that she had also frozen her eggs because she and Mulaney “don’t feel like we’re done growing our family.”

She said that prior to any chemotherapy, radiation, or the surgeries, she’d undergone egg retrieval that resulted in two healthy embryos. She knew that though she wouldn’t be physically able to carry her own pregnancy, she and Mulaney had options.

“A surrogate isn’t a scary prospect to me anymore because there’s nothing I can do,” she said. “I don’t have the ability to carry a baby anymore, so if we want to build our family, this is our option. This journey has made me realize how grateful I am to have options for not only fighting cancer, but also having more children if we want, because I know a lot of people don’t have those options.”

Munn thanked her daughter’s gestational carrier profusely in the post announcing the baby’s arrival.

“I had so many profound emotions about not being able to carry my daughter,” she wrote. “When I first met our gestational surrogate we spoke mother to mother. She showed me so much grace and understanding, I knew I had found a real-life angel. Words cannot express my gratitude that she kept our baby safe for 9 months and made our dreams come true.”

Mulaney, who is slated to return to the Broadway stage this winter in All In: Comedy About Love, spoke with David Letterman in April, telling the fellow comedian that Munn’s pregnancy with son Malcolm was “a big surprise,” but that fatherhood had changed his life.

“It wasn’t so much that I thought I wouldn’t [have a child] as. . . it was never a good day to have [a kid],” Mulaney said. “I just wasn’t thinking about it. I was just. . . kind of living one minute to the next. And then this guy came along. I was starstruck when I met him. I went, ‘Oh, there you are.’ I was looking in not good places and then, ‘Oh, there you are.’ That was my first thought.”

  • Lala Kent’s Daughter Sosa Nearly Ended Up in NICU After Delivery

Lala Kent’s Daughter Sosa Nearly Ended Up in NICU After Delivery

    [ad_1]

Lala Kent is appreciating her first weeks with daughter Sosa even more after a harrowing delivery.

During the Tuesday, September 17, episode of her “Give Them Lala” podcast, Vanderpump Rules‘ Kent, 33, said giving birth was fairly quick until the doctor noticed a problem.

“The cord was wrapped around her neck a couple of times. [The doctor] stayed calm because I could see that something was wrong but he didn’t let me know,” she recalled. “She goes out and I go to embrace my baby but she does one cry and then it stops. And my hands are freezing so I’m like, ‘I’m not touching her because I don’t want to send her into shock.’”

Kent recalled the medical team trying to get something out of her newborn’s mouth.

Stassi Schroeder, Jax Taylor and more former and current Vanderpump Rules personalities have started their own families. Schroeder, who left the show in 2020, became a mom one year later in January 2021, giving birth to daughter Hartford with her husband, Beau Clark. When Lala Kent and ex-fiancé Randall Emmett’s daughter, Ocean, arrived two months […]

“It was great that she came out so quickly because I didn’t have to push very many times. But with a fast birth like that, she swallowed a lot of amniotic fluid,” the reality star explained about the health issue that caused them to stay an extra day at the hospital. “She had so much fluid in her that she was vomiting all the food out.”

Sosa at one point “turned purple” shortly after the delivery.

“They then bring in a specialist. They’re like, ‘We want a surgeon to look at her because this isn’t normal. We’ve got 10 milliliters of amniotic fluid out of her stomach the first time. Then we got another eight.’ They were draining it through the nose and it wouldn’t stop,” Kent detailed. “They said, ‘We’re either going to have pediatric surgery deal with it or we want to keep her in the NICU.’”

Fortunately, Sosa started to feel better and there was no need for medical intervention. She has since gained “a pound in one week” after Kent brought her home. Kent, who welcomed Sosa through intrauterine insemination (IUI), announced earlier this month that she gave birth to her second child.

“Because I prepared myself [that being a mother of two] would be really hard, I know that those moments are going to come where it feels unbearable. [But] I think we’ve got a good system,” she said about receiving support from her family. “It’s important to talk about the help that you have.”

She previously welcomed her first child, daughter Ocean, in 2021 with ex-fiancé Randall Emmett. “I didn’t really tell [Ocean] in some big […]

Kent, who also shares 3-year-old daughter Ocean with ex Randall Emmett, has “a tremendous amount of help” from her loved ones and professionals.

“I am fortunate enough to have been able to bring on a night nurse who takes care of Sosa three nights a week. That way I can get some sleep and I only have to wake up to pump. Right now, I have a doula that I’m fortunate enough to bring in,” she continued. “That’s why when I say I’m a single mom, I don’t really feel great about using that because I know single moms who are working two or three jobs. I don’t know how single moms do what they do.”

Kent admitted that she doesn’t always consider herself a lone parent, adding, “I’m a single mom in the sense that I’m a single income household, which there are many moms who do that. That’s why I think they consider me a single parent in the state of California. But I don’t feel that way. I feel like I have a lot of support.”
