  • How To Style Anthropologie Denim, From Flare To Wide-Leg Jeans, For Fall

How To Style Anthropologie Denim, From Flare To Wide-Leg Jeans, For Fall

As a denim lover, fall is my favorite season for fashion. And because there’s no such thing as having too many jeans, I was eager to explore Anthropologie’s fall offering, which is full of designer denim, after having tried and styled its beachy Paige jeans over the summer.

This time around, I’m putting the retailer’s indie-inspired Mother autumnal denim pieces to the test. The LA-based lifestyle brand creates bottoms, tops, accessories, and more inspired by memories of growing up in California in the ‘70s. Tapping into the sartorial experimentation and whimsy of that era, I styled four pairs of Mother Denim jeans for different occasions, from casual seasonal activities to professional commitments.

In general, wide-leg is my favorite pant silhouette, because I find it suits my hourglass figure. So, I of course had to try a couple of pairs in that shape. However, I also stepped into new territory, trying flares (for the first time), since they’re a Mother signature. While I was very skeptical about wearing the stretchy-yet-snug, curve-hugging jeans, I was quite surprised by how I felt in them in the end.

Read on to see how I’m styling Mother wide-leg and flare jeans for the fall (and beyond), and how you can achieve the looks yourselves.

  • Looks For Less: Get Hailey Bieber’s Style On A Budget

Looks For Less: Get Hailey Bieber’s Style On A Budget

    New mother
Hailey Bieber has been the ultimate influencer for just about everyone on the planet. She’s dictated trends like chrome nails, glazed donut skin (thanks, rhode), and even hair color. And if Hailey Bieber uses Kosas concealer, so do we.

Not only does she make a product look easy to use, she’s also a supermodel who knows trends
before the public does. Listening to Hailey Bieber expound about trends is the smart thing to do.

But one thing I am confident about is the fact that I cannot afford
Hailey Bieber’s entire wardrobe. Yes, she may be the inspiration for our capsule closets and obsession with basics…she’s also a multi-millionaire. And I, sadly, am not.

That’s not going to stop me from aspiring to a supermodel-caliber closet on a regular salary. In fact, since
Hailey celebrates the basics so much, it actually makes her style affordable to recreate. No one can tell if Hailey’s tee is Prada and mine is H&M…

If you’re going to emulate a celebrity’s style, it’s key to invest in pieces where quality makes a visible difference like leather jackets or dresses. But ultimately, we’re looking to shop smarter and save money.

Hailey Bieber has iconic outfits that we all can easily achieve, so let’s look into how to get her look for less!

    Hailey’s All White Moment

Hailey is blessed. Even while pregnant with son, Jack Blues Bieber, she can wear regular-sized clothing. But what I especially like about this outfit is that it works for multiple occasions and looks terrific on all body types.

Here are some great options for a similar Hailey-inspired look:

And, of course, there’s the bag. A Birkin knockoff by YSL is awesome, but even then, still too pricey. Luckily enough, the market’s glutted with Birkin dupes that are more affordable.

    An Easy Fall Trench Look

Honestly, this is such a fantastic look that’s easily put together with essential items already in your closet: a white tank, trousers, and trench coat. What Hailey does best is make basic look thrilling. And an easily achievable look.

Plus, a trench coat is a necessity when it comes to fall weather. It’s one of the most underrated outerwear pieces for the fashion lover. A trench coat and heels says corporate, it gives off an official vibe that I love.

If you want this ensemble, here are a few close-to-identical pieces:

    A Staple Oversized Leather Jacket

Now that we’re suddenly transitioning into fall weather, we need to start thinking about cold weather pieces. If there’s one thing that is
very Hailey Bieber, it’s an oversized leather jacket.

She’s constantly photographed with a big leather Balenciaga bomber jacket — upwards of $6,000. So while we can’t afford Hailey’s iconic leather jacket — that she wears with everything — we
    can replicate.

These are my favorite leather bombers that are inspired by Hailey:

    A Sassy Fur Coat

If you’re partial to the mob wife aesthetic, this one’s for you. When Mrs. Bieber donned this YSL faux fur jacket with a pair of jeans, red pumps, and sunnies, we knew this would be a style inspo pic for many.

Nothing makes you feel sassier than a fur coat. When I wear one, I seriously feel like a runway model hiding secrets in my jacket. Drape it over a dress for added warmth this winter, with leather leggings, or even jeans like HB.

Here are some of my favorite oversized fur coats:

    A Simple Black Dress

We all love a little black dress. But again, the weather is transitional right now. Great for date night, or dinner with your friends, or just a special occasion in general. I love this dress on Hailey because she lets her accessories do the talking.

Whether you choose to style it with simple jewelry and a chic up-do, or colorful heels and matching bag, with a simple black dress like Hailey’s Bottega Veneta dress you cannot go wrong.

Again, a $2,900 dress isn’t the ideal price tag, I’ve found a few similar looks for far less:

    And A Fun Red Dress

Holiday Season calls for a red dress…I know it, you know it. So let’s get it out of the way early! Have one on deck so you don’t have to stress about it come December.

What amazing about this Hailey look is that she really commits to the all red. Red pumps, red lip, red strawberry earrings, and of course…the red dress.

This Ermanno Scervino Fall 2023 dress is, of course, far beyond our price range. But something like it is certainly achievable. Just look for a structured empire waist and tight bodice on your strapless dress.

Here are a few similar options if you want the Bieber look:

3 Editors Style Anthropologie’s New Daily Practice Collection

While each product featured is independently selected by our editors, we may include paid promotion. If you buy something through our links, we may earn commission. Read more about our Product Review Guidelines here.

Dressing up for an event is easy, but dressing for the everyday? Now that’s an entirely different challenge. It’s one thing to coordinate an outfit for a formal occasion — weddings, work parties, even date nights at fancier restaurants often have an attached dress code that provides some sort of direction on what to wear.

But what about those exceptionally casual occasions that don’t necessarily warrant a polished “going out” look, but still require more than your basic pajamas — like days spent lounging around the house, bopping around town for a few errands, or even just walking to get a coffee?

Even the most seasoned stylists struggle to curate the perfect everyday wardrobe. Luckily for us, Anthropologie — ever the haven for versatile fashion — just debuted a new line that’s designed to take the guesswork out of dressing for the day-to-day, with pieces that are comfortable (and stylish) enough to be worn for all sorts of casual activities — anti-occasionwear, if you will.

The Daily Practice collection is a capsule of styles that are made to do it all. Crafted from the brand’s softest fabrics, this line features a wide array of pieces — from stretchy jumpsuits and parachute pants to breathable maxi dresses and cropped sweatshirts. The collection is an achievement in versatility, with ensembles that you can comfortably wear from a morning yoga class to a long afternoon lunch and beyond.

To get a full understanding of the line’s offerings, we tasked three PS editors with testing several items from the collection in their own daily wardrobe. Keep reading for our review of Anthropologie’s Daily Practice collection — and see whether the line lived up to the hype.

Anthropologie x Gola Collab Features A “Coquettish” Take On A Beloved Sneaker

From a floral bucket hat to short shorts with a kaleidoscope-like logo print, the pieces make for a great everyday wardrobe that can be worn on the court, field or gym, too. I styled my yellow Anthropologie x Gola sneakers with a leopard-print mini dress (see top photo) and am looking forward to pairing them with skirts, wide-leg jeans, and more dresses. “Whether it’s casual sneakers for everyday wear or stylish trainers, Gola provides versatile options that align with Anthropologie’s lifestyle-oriented approach to fashion,” Peek says.

  • Please Don’t Bring The Initial Necklace Back

Please Don’t Bring The Initial Necklace Back

Do you remember a few years ago when everyone was wearing their gigantic Anthropologie initial necklaces? You could see the emboldened Scarlet Letter from a mile away. Everyone who was anyone had one…but quickly, they cycled out of style. Mine still remains in my archives, collecting dust as a relic in my jewelry cabinet.

Every two years or so, there’s a new form of the Anthropologie initial necklace that surfaces. Suddenly, we are all
super proud of our initials. Since my name is essentially pronounced like a letter, I’m wearing my name loud and proud.

There was the monogram trend that went hand-in-hand with Lily Pulitzer and Vineyard Vines. Your initials emblazoned on any surface: sheets, towels, bags, and of course, necklaces.

Yes, the trend may die but the idea remains the same. And look I get it, an initial necklace
seemingly should never go out of style…because it’s an homage to your name. However, we tend to get overzealous with trends…and these initial necklaces are far from simple.

Which is why I cringed internally when I saw Hailey Bieber donning a diamond-encrusted, bubble-letter, initial necklace. I knew what was coming. I got war flashbacks to girls flocking the necklace stand at Anthro. Going from store to store just to find their initials. Chills.

What is the Hailey Bieber Initial Necklace, you ask?

Hailey is a minimalist in her style – often layering thin gold bangles with chains and simple diamonds. Which is what made this necklace stand out in the first place. She’s now accessorizing her cool “It Girl” style with a huge necklace. But doesn’t it also kind of remind you of a chain a football player would wear pregame?

Bieber isn’t known for her endzone celebrations, however. She’s known for her trends and her fashion (and also her husband). And, actually, she designed this herself.

Alex Moss, a New York-based jewelry designer whose brand has skyrocketed since his 2020 opening, is the genius behind the design. He’s crafted pieces for A$AP Rocky and Drake, but when Hailey came to Moss for her design – it wasn’t even a glema in his eye yet.
    He says,

“I have to give Hailey all the credit for the idea of the B,” explains the jeweler. “She told me her vision of a bubble letter; I thought of it like an inflatable birthday balloon.”

And that’s not all. Alex Moss then proceeded to design a similar styled “J” ring that Hailey often sports. The same bubble letters, the same diamonds, everything.

I can already see it now: jewelry brand after jewelry brand mass producing copies of Hailey’s initial necklace…because anything Hailey touches turns into a sell-out trend. In fact, when you Google “Hailey Bieber initial necklace”, there are already a few dupes on the market.

But I’m here to be your voice of reason.
You don’t need the gaudy initial necklace just because Hailey has it. Please.

Look, I’ll speak for myself to make it make sense: I don’t know how to style this necklace to make it work for everyday wear. It’s ginormous, gargantuan, capacious, sizable, ample, tremendous, and astronomic. It takes up half of Hailey’s chest. You can barely see what she’s wearing past that huge piece.

It’s good for Hailey Bieber, but maybe not so doable for the non-Nepo Babies like us.

Timeless Initial Necklaces That Aren’t Hailey’s

I know we all want to be as glamorous as Hailey, but sometimes less is more…especially when you can’t afford the real deal Alex Moss necklace that she sports. And, if you purchase something a bit more muted, you’re guaranteed a timeless piece that won’t make you cringe in a few months time.

If you’re looking for an initial necklace revival, here are a few of my fave unostentatious picks:

Brook and York Mackenzie Birthstone Initial PendantI love this because it’s wholeheartedly you. Both your birthstone and your initial stamp will give you something that no one else has. Plus, I love how dainty it is.

Kendra Scott Inline Initial NecklaceUnique, but not taking away from your outfit. This will give you something different that you can easily layer with other necklaces.

Kendra Scott Diamond Letter Initial NecklaceDiamonds are a girl’s best friend…and if you liked the sparkle from Hailey’s necklace, this will give you a nice fix without overdoing it.

Abbott Lyon Double Initial Crystal NecklaceSomething different, yet still fun – having both of your initials overlapping. It’s classy and I haven’t seen many people wearing it yet. A bonus.

Abbott Lyon Initial NecklaceOne of my favorites because of its simplicity…yet something about the font and design makes it simply singular.

Reclectic, which sells discounted merchandise from URBN brands at the Philadelphia Mills mall, is hosting a clothing customization workshop in honor of Earth Month.

The workshop will be held on Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the store. During the event, which will be put on in collaboration with textile recycling nonprofit FabScrap, attendees can use fabric waste to accessorize clothing that they select from Reclectic’s inventory.

Then, staff from URBN and FabScrap will assist attendees in using fabric waste patches and scraps, as well as other customization techniques, to create unique, eco-friendly clothes.

  • I Moved and Have a Bigger Closet Now, But I Still Purged These 4 Items

I Moved and Have a Bigger Closet Now, But I Still Purged These 4 Items

In this roller coaster year of ups and downs, I’ve sat on the news of buying and renovating my first home. The process has been eye-opening, exciting, alarmingly adult, and an exercise in gratitude (and patience) every day.

It’s also been a new, welcome creative outlet. I’ve loved picking out paint samples, tile, and sourcing furniture, and I’ve especially loved designing my closet from scratch. As someone who used to pray daily that her rotted-wood closet bar wouldn’t buckle under pressure (and relied heavily on rolling racks), I still can’t believe I have a walk-in! After installation, I’d find myself wandering in and out of the empty room, a giddy smile plastered on my face. It felt fresh and full of hope. I didn’t want to sully the space with anything that no longer brought me joy.

A new home means new beginnings, and I wanted to honor that with a well-curated wardrobe. I am deeply sentimental, so this proved to be harder than I thought it would, but I did it. I now live in a color-coded reality of tightly edited pieces (I know—who am I?) and you know what? It feels good.

Inspired to get a head start on spring cleaning? Read on for the pieces I bid adieu to.
