Suspects at large after shooting into Titusville home, police say

TITUSVILLE, Fla. —

Titusville police are hoping neighbors can provide information and home security video to help track down two people who fired at least a dozen shots at a home on Thomas Street early Saturday.

Seven people were inside at the time, including a baby, but no one was wounded or hurt during the scramble for cover.

Detectives said the two suspects ran off, then rode away in a white sedan that may be a newer Mercedes-Benz or Lincoln.

The first officers arrived around 4:30 a.m.

As the sun came up, the evidence became clear: at least a dozen holes made by bullets, including at least one that went through a window.

WESH 2 News talked with some of the people who were inside and survived the shooting, but none wanted to share information with us on camera. They offered no explanation as to why anyone would try to harm them.

“I never heard like shots being done but it was like ‘BA BA BA BA BA,’” described Gracie Ramos, a neighbor.

She said those sounds jolted her, her husband, and grandkids out of bed.

“Then I got out of the room and I went to the girl’s room — because they sleep toward the front — and I was like, ‘Are you okay?’ and ‘Just stay down,’ and I checked on my mother-in-law,” she said. “We actually thought it was coming from the side of the house and we thought it was someone trying to break into the neighbor’s home because they live right next to our bedroom on the side of the house.”

Ramos said she checked on the people inside the home that was fired upon and talked with one of them to make sure they were OK, adding, “He was very upset about what was going on because his family was there, his mom was sleeping in one of the rooms and his daughter with a baby.”

Police say security video they obtained from other neighbors shows two people firing shots from outside the home, running away, and then getting into a light-colored sedan. With the shooters still at large, most were too afraid to talk with us on camera and Ramos told WESH 2 News, “It does scare me because I go to work really early in the morning and it’s still dark outside so, who is out there?”
