Ghost Stories (2020)

An unconventional horror film, that is divided into four segments, Ghost stories are full of recognisable horror film tropes. When four award-winning directors – Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Dibakar Banerjee and Karan Johar come together the end result deserves at least a watch. Full of mind-bending moments, Ghost stories definitely make the cut.

Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship (2020)

This horror-thriller film follows Vicky Kaushal, who s tasked with solving the mystery of the unexplained stranding of the Sea Bird, an abandoned and derelict ship, on Mumbai’s coastline.

However, when he realises that there may be more truth to the ominous tales about the ship, things start to act up taking you on a journey of all things spooky. With brilliant acting by Vicky Kaushal and a decent storyline- the movie makes for an engaging watch.

Roohi (2021)

Rajkummar Rao returned with another horror-comedy titled Roohi, which promises the right balance of shivers and laughs. Roohi follows Rao and Varun Sharma’s characters Bhawra and Kattani’s shenanigans as they move about their hometown of Bagadpur. When they realise one of the girls is possessed by an evil spirit, laughter and panic break out taking the audience on a wild spook-filled journey.

Bhoot Police (2021)

If you’re too scared to watch a horror film, but want to venture into the genre, what’s a better way than a horror-comedy that has more smiles than spooks? Bhoot Police follows ghost-busting brothers Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor who are assigned a seemingly ordinary case of hunting down spirits in a village. However, when they realise this case is much beyond the ordinary, chaos ensues. A journey of fits and giggles, the movie has a small share of scary moments.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022)

A sequel to the original iconic horror-comedy-thriller with the same name, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is an exciting watch. With me we’re elements of thrill, the movie follows Kartik Aryan and Kiara Advani who cross paths and visit an abandoned, haunted haveli. With ghostly encounters, well-helmed comedy and great acting from the ensemble cast, the film comes pretty close to the original which almost attained cult status. A must-watch for all horror-comedy lovers.

Phone Booth (2022)

Adding to the list of horror-comedy movies, are Katrina Kaif, Ishaan Khattar and Siddhant Chaturvedi starrer Phone Booth. It is full of madcap moments, with characters rooted in horror movies. In totality, it’s wacky, wild and weird, and has everything you need to have a good time.

Bhediya (2022)

Finishing off the list is Bhediya– a movie that is releasing soon! Starring Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan, the movie is the third installment of Dinesh Vijan’s horror universe which also consists of Roohi and Stree. Varun Dhawan plays a man who transforms into a shape-shifting werewolf, and the trailer promises some good twists and turns. If you’re looking to get the horror experience on the big screen, bookmark Bhediya’s release date to get the complete experience!
