Axel Springer Closes Telegraph Acquisition
German publishing giant Axel Springer has completed its $761 million acquisition of Telegraph Media Group after receiving regulatory approvals in Britain, Ireland, and Austria. The deal is Axel Springer’s second-largest acquisition, behind its $1 billion purchase of Politico in 2021. IFCN Mourns Fact-Checker Killed in Lebanon
The International Fact-Checking Network is mourning the death of Alaa Salman, a journalist with Lebanon-based fact-checking organization Sawab, who died after an Israeli airstrike destroyed her family’s home. Salman, a communications and social media student at Phoenicia University, was honored with a moment of silence at GlobalFact 2026. Gray Media Buys Six American Spirit Stations
Gray Media has announced a $50 million deal to acquire six television stations from American Spirit Media, expanding its footprint across markets in Ohio, Mississippi, North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, and Louisiana. Gray has long provided back-office services to several of the stations, as well as local news for four of them.
