One person was taken to the hospital after Wake County Sheriff’s Office deputies were involved in a high-speed chase with a white SUV on Wednesday afternoon in eastern Wake County.
Around 1:30 p.m., Sky 5 flew over the chase on Interstate 87, capturing the driver of a Honda CRV buzzing by surrounding cars and weaving in and out of traffic.
The chase went down Highway 64 Business in Knightdale at one point and appeared to be driving through Knightdale. The driver of the SUV eventually crashed into another driver turning onto Knightdale Boulevard at Hinton Oaks Boulevard.
Around 1:43 p.m., the driver got out of the car near Widewaters Commons shopping center and went into a restaurant, 101 Kitchen. Deputies and police officers were surrounding the restaurant after he entered the business. It appeared that the man was strapped to a stretcher and taken onto an ambulance just before 2 p.m.
It’s not immediately clear what prompted the chase.
