Why Did Paige Leave Summer House? She Revealed the Real Reason For Her Exit

[ad_1]

Summer isn’t the same without Paige DeSorbo. After seven seasons on the Bravo reality TV show, Paige, who joined in Season 3, announced she was leaving Summer House in June 2025 just ahead of the series’ milestone 10th season.

“I have a little life update for you: I’ve made the decision not to return to Summer House,” she wrote in an Instagram story at the time. “Being part of this show has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life — the friendships, the drama, the giggles, all unforgettable,” she continued. “You’ve seen me grow up over these last 7 summers. I’ll always be beyond grateful for the memories, the community, and the opportunities this wild ride has brought me. But like all good things (and some bad decisions), it’s time for this chapter to close.”

She continued, “To my castmates, the fans, and my NBCU family: thank you. I never could’ve imagined what this journey would turn into — and how many of you would be along for the ride. And you haven’t seen the last of me, I promise. So much more to do together, but for now you know you can always find me and Daphne in my bed.”

So why did Paige leave Summer House, and what was the real reason for her exit? Here’s what the ex-Bravo star has said since her departure…

Paige DeSorbo on Summer House

Paige explained to Byrdie in an interview published in September 2025 that she decided to leave Summer House because she felt she could no longer give her all to the show. “I just had this overwhelming sense that I couldn’t go back,” she said. “I know I would’ve been doing a disservice to [the show]. They accept a certain level of showing up, and I couldn’t give them that.”

Paige’s final season on Summer House saw her break up with her boyfriend and Southern Charm star Craig Conover after three years of dating. “Being on reality TV, there’s a level — this is a harsh word — of, like, brainwashing,” she said of her experience dating on reality TV. “That’s not real life. You’re not stopping people on the street and being like, ‘I just had a thought that I hate my boyfriend.’”

Paige’s “Giggly Squad” podcast co-host and former Summer House oc-star, Hannah Berner, added, “It’s very interesting to have been in [reality TV] and out of it, and be able to have those two perspectives. We just hate being put in a box. The truth is that on reality TV, if you stay in your own bed, you can’t fight with people.”

Though she’s excited about the new chapter of her life, Paige confessed to Byrdie that she “definitely had to get over” fears that leaving Summer House meant her “career would be over.” “There’s an element of thinking you need that show and network, and Hannah was reminding me they’re not in charge of where you are in your career,” she said. “I am assimilating back into society. I’m like, what do people do on a Saturday night in the summer?” After Summer House, Paige launched her lounge line, Daphne.

Paige also confirmed to People in July 2025 that she would be open to returning to reality TV in the future, just not “anytime soon.” “Reality TV was so fun, and I feel like I was the perfect age to do Summer House and what the vibe was,” she said. “I would never say never, but I think coming off of it after seven years, I would love a break.” She continued, “But again. I would never say never.”
