A head-on collision overnight temporarily closed Interstate 495 in Mansfield, Massachusetts, and sent one person to the hospital with serious injuries.
Massachusetts State Police say they received a call for a wrong-way operator on I-495 southbound in Mansfield early Sunday morning. Immediately following that call, several reports were made of a head-on collision.
State police and Mansfield EMS responded to the scene, and the driver of one of the vehicles was taken to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries, police said. There was no immediate update on their condition.
Troopers shut down I-495 southbound due to the crash. The left-hand travel lane was reopened around 2:37 a.m.
Further details have not been released. An investigation into the crash, and its cause, is ongoing.
