Press Release

updated: May 4, 2021

The Tooele County, Utah, Auditor’s Office will hold its first-ever online delinquent property tax-sale with auction site Bid4Assets.com. The county is required by state law to hold an annual sale for tax-defaulted properties. Moving online will allow Tooele County to conduct this sale safely, eliminating all COVID-19 concerns by allowing participants to bid using their laptops, cell phones and desktops.

“This is a necessary step forward for our office and Bid4Assets is the right partner to ensure a smooth transition,” said Alison McCoy, Tooele County Auditor. “Our top priority remains the safety of our residents. Similar sales that Bid4Assets has conducted in the state have been extremely successful and are offered at no cost to the county.”

Online bidding on the properties available will take place May 21 beginning at 10 a.m. MT. Auctions will close at staggered times starting at 12 p.m. MT. All auctions will be no-reserve, meaning the highest bid at or above the minimum will win the property.

Bidders must register a free Bid4Assets account and fund a $200 deposit before they can participate in this sale. Deposits are due May 17. To view a list of available properties and additional sale details, visit www.bid4assets.com/tooele21.

“The benefits of online auctions include increased bidding, a streamlined process for the county and elimination of the risk of spreading COVID-19 at a live auction,” said Jesse Loomis, Bid4Assets’ CEO. “We’ve had many counties transition to online auctions since the pandemic began who have since decided to make the change permanent. We’re honored to be serving Tooele County and look forward to serving more counties throughout Utah.”
