The moments after Donald J. Trump became a convicted felon thirty-four times over, reaction from all sides poured in. The 34 counts fell into three categories: Eleven were related to invoices from Michael Cohen, his former fixer who paid Stormy Daniels. Eleven more were related to checks signed by Trump or using his funds to repay Mr. Cohen. Finally, twelve counts were related to accounting records made for the reimbursements in Mr. Trump’s books.

The responses after the 45th President of the United States was found guilty were seemingly endless. Trump is of falsifying business records in the cover up of a sexual escapade with an adult film actress, and burying the story in the hopes of winning the 2016 Presidential Election were varied in scope and depth.
Dr. Yusef Saalam, a member of ‘The Exonerated Five’ and one-time Atlanta resident, was expressing his gratitude because the system worked. Saalam is currently a member of the New York City Council.
“We should be proud that today the system worked. But we should be somber that we Americans have an ex-President who has been found guilty on 34 separate felony charges. And while today might not be as shocking as January 6th, it is equally profound.”
Reverend Al Sharpton, the Founder and President of the National Action Network (NAN), issued a statement. Trump was convicted at the same venue in which the Exonerated 5 was wrongfully convicted in 1990.
“I couldn’t help but think throughout this trial of Donald Trump sitting through days of testimony in Manhattan Criminal Court. This is the same building that Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana, and Korey Wise all passed into, day after day, as they endured a show trial for a crime they did not commit. These children had to hear vitriol from people whose anger was incited by a man who spent a small fortune on full-page ads calling for their execution. Now the shoe is on the other foot. Donald Trump is the criminal, and those five men are exonerated. I’m reminded of Dr. King’s proverb that the arc of history is long, but it bends toward justice.“
Are Georgia Republicans reluctant to support a felonious Trump?
U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Georgia, has been an unabashed supporter of Mr. Trump. She took to social media to air her grievances against President Joe Biden:
“Joe Biden’s campaign orchestrated a rally outside of the courthouse in New York City supporting a potential conviction of President Trump. This case has been rigged from the start and we all knew it. This isn’t a prosecution, it’s a persecution. We must end the weaponization of government in America. This is what happens in third world countries!”
Republicans nationwide are fundraising after the verdict. The WinRed fundraising portal was temporarily knocked offline due to immense amounts of traffic. Georgia Republicans by-and-large, have fallen in line. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp echoed similar sentiments.
“From the beginning, this prosecution and trial have been driven by partisan politics. Despite today’s events, the ultimate verdict is up to the American people on November 5th when they will have a clear choice on the future of our country.“
Kemp will be attending this year’s Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, without a speaking arrangement. Rumors continue to swirl around Kemp regarding a presidential bid in 2028.

Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia, U.S. Rep. Nikema Williams, said no one is above the law and today’s verdict is a long time coming.
“Convicted felon, or not, Donald Trump is the Republican nominee for president, and Georgians cannot afford a second term of our freedoms being ripped away by an unhinged and even more dangerous candidate,” said Williams in a statement.
Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock had a straightforward response.
“No one is above the law—including Donald Trump.”
