A Sacramento County father is accused of killing his 7-month-old daughter after her death nearly two months since being hospitalized, the Galt Police Department said Tuesday.Edgar Allan Bonifacio, 33, is now in the Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide and felony child abuse resulting in death charges, Galt police said.In August, Galt police said the UC Davis Medical Center contacted officers about suspected child abuse for an infant with severe head injuries. When they arrived, they contacted the child’s parents while they were at the hospital.Police said Bonifacio told officers he was home alone with his daughter when the child slipped from his arms and fell backward onto the floor and became unresponsive. Bonifacio then told police that he contacted the child’s mother, and they both took the infant to the hospital.However, medical findings during the investigation indicated that the child’s injuries were not consistent with what Bonifacio told officers, police said. The infant died after 49 days in the hospital, police said. Officers at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday took Bonifacio into custody.”The Galt Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the child’s family and loved ones as they mourn this tragic and heartbreaking loss,” the department said in a news release.See news happening?
