PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Police have released photos of the vehicle they’re looking for after a shooting in North Philadelphia left seven people injured on Wednesday night.

The car is described as a 2004 to 2008 charcoal gray Acura TSX with an unknown Pennsylvania license plate.

The car is missing its front grille and has a yellow tie-down strap securing a damaged trunk.

It also has multiple decals on the rear window and faded paint near the sunroof.

The shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. on the 2800 block of North Bambrey Street.

Police say a vehicle was seen pulling up on Somerset Street. Three men then got out of the car, and that’s when at least one of them fired 17 shots down the block from the intersection.

The victims, who are between the ages of 16 and 46, were all shot while standing outside. Police say they are all listed as stable at an area hospital.

Once on scene, officers found two women who were shot in the leg. They were taken to Temple University Hospital.

Police say a 16-year-old girl, who suffered graze wounds to the abdomen and a leg, was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.

The four other people who were shot – two men and two women – showed up at the hospital with gunshot wounds.

“We believe there’s many, many people that were out and that’s why there are so many shooting victims,” said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small. “We believe they shot into this crowd intentionally and someone in the crowd may have been the intended target.”

It’s still unclear what led up to the gunfire.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call police at 215-686-TIPS.

Woman visiting from Canada among 3 innocent bystanders shot in Center City Philadelphia

    [ad_1]

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — A woman visiting from Canada is among three innocent bystanders who were shot in Philadelphia’s Center City section Sunday.

The shooting happened at 11th and Ludlow streets at around 11:30 p.m., according to police. The area isn’t far from Jefferson Hospital and the Fashion District.

Investigators said at least four shots were fired from a 9mm gun.

Police said a 22-year-old man was shot twice in the arm, a 53-year-old woman was hit in the knee, and a 42-year-old woman was shot in the pelvis and arm.

“There was some type of argument or dispute that happened out here; however, we’re getting conflicting information on the description of any shooters,” said Captain Anthony Ganard, with Philadelphia police.

All three victims were rushed a couple of blocks away to Jefferson Hospital. The woman who was shot twice was initially listed in critical condition but has since been stabilized.

One of them women is visitng from Canada, according to police.

“I mean, not really shocking, it’s just the gun violence,” said Lena Gamble, of West Philadelphia. “People have guns and don’t have license, and they just let anybody get guns and that’s the problem.”

However, people who frequent the busy area told Action News they don’t often hear of shootings there.

“Yeah, that’s very rare. I don’t know if it’s from celebrations last night. I don’t know,” said Michael Dillard, of West Philadelphia.

Investigators said they’re working on getting a better video hoping to piece together how this all played out and get a better description of the shooter.

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — Two people have been arrested in connection to last week’s mass shooting at a SEPTA bus stop in the Burholme section of Philadelphia, sources tell Action News.

Those sources also said a weapon has been recovered after gunfire that left eight Northeast High School students wounded.

Police have not released any more information about those in custody.

Philadelphia officials, including the mayor, police commissioner and the D.A., will hold a 4:30 p.m. news conference with the latest on the investigation. They will be joined by officials from the FBI, the ATF and the U.S. Marshals.

You can watch that live on 6abc, 6abc.com, the 6abc mobile app and the 6abc streaming TV app.

The shooting happened around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, March 6 at Cottman and Rising Sun avenues.

The injured students range between the ages of 15 and 17. One of the victims, a 16-year-old boy, remains in critical condition after being shot nine times. Police say he was the intended target.

Surveillance video released Wednesday night shows three shooters exit a blue Hyundai and open fire. Police urged tipsters to help identify the three shooters and the car’s driver.

That evening in Olney, police found two vehicles they believe are connected to the shooters, including the getaway car.

    Both had been stolen.

Police have said all along they are working to see if the mass shooting is connected to a deadly shooting of an Imhotep Charter High School student, 17-year-old Dayemen Taylor.

Taylor was shot a week ago Monday while waiting at a SEPTA bus stop in Ogontz. Two other students and two bus passengers were also injured.

Imhotep students also returned to attend in person classes on Monday. It was their first time back in person since the killing of their classmate last Monday.

“I’m not shocked because things like this have happened in the past. The only thing that really shocked me is that I happen to be a victim of it,” said one of the victims, who did not want to be identified.

He said he was waiting for his bus ride home on Wednesday when he heard more than 30 gunshots. And without hesitation, he ran in the opposite direction.

He was shot in the upper back.

“It’s like a scene out of a movie, an action movie. Everything happened so fast. You have to be on your toes consistently if you want to make it out of a situation like that,” he said. “As I was running, I felt a burning sensation in my back, but I ignored it because of adrenaline. But as I stopped, it just felt like I might’ve got shot.”

Social media video shows confrontation before deadly police-involved shooting in Philadelphia

    [ad_1]

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) — We are learning new details about the deadly officer-involved shooting in North Philadelphia on Friday night that left a man dead and an officer injured.

This, as the search continues for a man who police say stole a gun from the scene of the shooting where 28-year-old Alexander Spencer was shot and killed by police.

There is also new video that has surfaced from the night of the shooting, which is being used in the investigation.

The officer who was shot was released Monday afternoon from Temple University Hospital. His name has not yet been made public.

The officer who was shot was released Monday afternoon from Temple University Hospital.

Now, those who were on the scene are questioning why police initially went into the grocery store.

Action News is showing the beginning of a social media video from a witness who started recording after police were already in a struggle with Spencer on the ground. It has also been blurred.

“Yo, what y’all doing, bruh? What y’all doing?” the witness recording the video can be heard saying.

Police say they are aware of this 30-second clip and that it’s part of the investigation.

The incident happened Friday night inside Jennifer Tavern on the corner of N. Mascher and W. Cambria streets in North Philadelphia.

Police say two officers entered the store and tried to stop Spencer before they got into a scuffle.

Spencer is then on the ground with one officer.

Officers say that’s when Spencer allegedly shot one officer in the leg and the officer’s partner returned fire, killing Spencer.

However, by watching the video, it’s unclear who fired shots first.

You can then hear the bystander who was recording questioning police and then an officer calls for help.

“I need someone right now. My partner is shot,” one of the officers is heard saying to his radio.

Investigators have not said why they tried to stop Spencer or what led to it.

During the incident, police say 42-year-old Jose Quinones-Mendez fled the scene with Spencer’s gun. However, that part isn’t seen on the video clip shot by the witness.

Right now, police are searching for Quinones-Mendez, who is facing several charges, including obstruction of justice and tampering with evidence. He is considered armed and dangerous, according to police.

The Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #5 is offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to Quinones-Mendez’s arrest.

“Our reward is payable immediately, if the tip information leads to the whereabouts of this individual,” said, FOP Lodge #5 President, Roosevelt Poplar.

Quinones-Mendez is described as being 5’8″ tall and approximately 160 lbs. His last known address was on the 2900 block of North Hancock Street.

Spencer’s friends have since created a memorial in his honor outside of the store where they say he often went to play the slot machines.

“I just feel like I just want to know what really happened. What did he do? Y’all could’ve just arrested him. Y’all could’ve just done way better,” said one of Spencer’s friends who did not want to be identified.

The names of the two officers have not been released. The wounded officer has been on the force for nine years and the officer who fired has been on the force for five years.

    The investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone with information on Quinones-Mendez’s whereabouts is being asked to call the Philadelphia police homicide unit at 215-686-3334 or 9-1-1.
