An off-duty sheriff’s deputy assisted in the apprehension of an attempted murder suspect following a stabbing at a Victorville apartment complex on Friday afternoon, sheriff’s officials said.
The incident took place about 3:35 p.m. at the Sherwood Villa Apartments, 14900 Arlette Drive, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department dispatch logs.
Deputies arrived at the scene to learn the victim was attempting to drive himself to a hospital, agency spokeswoman Gloria Orejel said.

“An off-duty deputy saw the suspect running and he was detained by responding deputies,” according to Orejel.
No further details, including the condition of the victim or the identity of the suspect, were available Saturday.
