The second ODI between India and Zealand is today at Seddon Park Stadium, Hamilton. After winning the toss, New Zealand decided to bowl first. However, the rain interrupted the match after 12.5 overs when India were 89 for 1. The second ODI saw two changes from India. Deepak Hooda replaced Sanju Samson, while Deepak Chahar replaced Shardul Thakur. New Zealand, on the other hand, replaced fast bowler Adam Milne with Micheal Bracewell.

After a lengthy delay due to bad weather, the match had been reduced to 29-over a side. However, the rain paused the game again before the first five overs were completed. India then were batting at 22/0 after 4.5 overs then. Shikhar Dhawan was out in the sixth over. He scored 3 in 10 balls. When the game was stopped a second time in the 13th over, Shubham Gill (45) and Suryakumar Yadav (34) were in the middle. Gill scored 45 off 42 deliveries while Yadav’s 35 came in 25 balls with three sixes.

For New Zealand, Matt Henry took the first wicket.

The Blackcaps have already won the first ODI by 7 wickets to take a 1-0 series lead. In the first ODI against India, Tom Latham’s 145 not out off 104 balls helped the Kiwis chase down a target of 307 runs.

Indian international cricketer Suryakumar Yadav on Sunday continued his breathtaking form in T20 cricket and notched up a blazing century against New Zealand at the Bay Oval as India finished with a huge total of 191 for six. This was Yadav’s second century in international cricket which he brought up off just 49 balls.

Yadav, as soon as he completed his century, celebrated in style and skipper Hardik Pandya also embraced him. Right-handed batter eventually finished with 111 runs and en route.

Yadav, who walked out to bat in the 7th over of the innings, started playing shots from the get-go. He came at number three in Virat Kohli’s absence and smashed boundaries and sixes at will, his last 64 runs coming off just 18 balls.

While Surya was once again in a league of his own, other batters who showed intent but could not go on were opener Ishan Kishan (36 off 31) and number four Shreyas Iyer (13 of 9). The experiment to open with Rishabh Pant did not work as he fell after a sluggish six off 13 balls.

India’s powerplay approach was in focus before the game but not much was delivered on that front, with the team reaching 42 for one in six overs.

Yadav hit 11 fours and 7 sixes against New Zealand. Interestingly, he had brought up his half-century off just 32 balls. Surya went berserk in the penultimate over bowled by Lockie Ferguson, hammering four boundaries and a phenomenal six over deep point.

The last five overs yielded 72 runs for India.

For New Zealand, Tim Southee bowled a brilliant 20th over and stemmed the free flow of runs by taking a hat-trick. He dismissed Washington Sundar, Deepak Hooda, and Hardik Pandya on the trot. In the end, his knock helped Team India post 191/6 in 20 overs. Earlier, it was Kane Williamson who won the toss and opted to bowl first.

India vs New Zealand, T20I starts tomorrow: Here’s timing, squads, live stream details

After the recent T20 World Cup debacle in Australia, India is all set to make another ‘fresh’ start in the three-match T20I series against New Zealand in Wellington on Friday, November 18.

Hardik Pandya will lead the team in the next T20 showpiece amid Rohit Sharma’s absence. In addition to this, coach Rahul Dravid has been allowed a break, thus VVS Laxman will take over as interim head coach for the white-ball tour to New Zealand.

Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill will be the likely openers for the first game but the management can also give Rishabh Pant another opportunity at the top of the order.

The highly rated Gill, who rose to prominence with his exploits in the U-19 World Cup in New Zealand four years ago, will be hoping to make his T20 debut in this match.

One major reason for India’s T20 troubles has been its inability to take wickets in the middle overs through finger spinners. The New Zealand matches could reunite the wrist spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, whose exclusion from the World Cup XI baffled many.

New Zealand, on the other hand, will field a near full-strength side under Kane Willamson’s leadership. Like India, they too would be smarting from another loss in a World Cup knockout game, and would look to bounce back strongly.
