The Howl-O-Sprint 5K run returns to SeaWorld Orlando for its second year, bringing thrills, scares and high-energy fun to the park after dark.
Runners will dash past haunted roller coasters and through scare zones as they race to the finish line, dodging spooky surprises along the way. The event happens Thursday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m., with an awards ceremony scheduled for 9:30 p.m.
Survivors will be rewarded with an exclusive post-race party featuring food, drinks, live entertainment and a chance to explore one of this year’s new haunted houses. Participants can also snag photos with Havoc, the event’s mascot.
Every runner receives free parking, a commemorative T-shirt, and a custom finisher’s medal. The top three finishers will win gift cards to the Howl-O-Scream gift shop.
Be warned, Orlando: Howl-O-Scream is back at SeaWorld Orlando for yet another Halloween season.
Howl-O-Scream 2025 kicks off Friday, Sept. 5, and runs through Nov. 1 on select days and nights.
Ranked as the Best Theme Park Halloween Event in 2023 by USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice Awards, Howl-O Scream this year brings brand new haunted houses, new scare zones, themed bars and more.
There will be a total of five haunted houses, six scare zones, five bars and two live shows, in addition to roaming hordes and yet-to-be-released surprises.
The list of all-new haunted houses includes a rotting Victorian orphanage, home to every arachnophobe’s worst nightmare, The Black Widow, at the “Widow’s Nest.” Meanwhile, “The Collector’s Curse” invites guests into a cave filled with ill-fated ancient relics, and “The Rave Yard” offers the dead’s (and undead’s) favorite place to party.
Also making an appearance is Havoc, Howl-O-Scream’s new charred Ambassador of Darkness, who debuted in the new show Throttle during the event’s first-ever fashion show to kick off the season.
“This wasn’t just a fashion show … it was a celebration of creativity, horror and five years of building Orlando’s scariest tradition,” said Cindi Miller, vice president of entertainment at SeaWorld Orlando. “To see the crowd cheer on Havoc’s first appearance was a reminder of how far this event has come and where it’s heading next.”
SeaWorld’s Howl-O-Sprint 5K run also returns on Oct. 2 for guests looking to indulge in a late-night run for their lives. Those who survive all the way to the finish line will celebrate a well-earned victory at an exclusive post-race after party.
And for those who still have a remaining appetite, this year’s limited-time food and beverage options include bites such as Zombie Tacos, Monster Munch Mac ’n’ Cheese, and more available at themed food huts throughout the park.
While Howl-O-Scream is intended for mature audiences, SeaWorld Orlando also offers its family-friendly Spooktacular event, running now through Nov. 2.
Runners, walkers and creepy crawlers can join SeaWorld Orlando next month for the park’s inaugural immersive nighttime 5K full of frights.
Howl-O-Sprint promises spine-chilling sights and sounds as runners make their way through the park. Characters will whisper curses at every corner as participants try to navigate the park’s scare zones and haunting landscapes.
Think you can outrun the terror? Test it out for yourself at midnight on Friday, Sept. 13.
Awards await the top three female and male runners at the end of this ghoulish run.
After the race, participants and a limited number of spectators can join the post-race celebration that’ll last until 2 a.m. Guests can recharge at Siren’s Bar, which will offer themed beverages and treats, plus live music to keep the spirits up.
The event is limited to 4,000 guests, so sign up quickly before the ghosts beat you to it. The race is recommended for adults only.
Also happening this Halloween season is SeaWorld Orlando’s annual Howl-O-Scream, with new scare zones, houses and characters. This year’s event starts Sept. 6 and runs through Nov. 2.
That time of year is creeping up and SeaWorld’s Howl-O-Scream is teasing new houses, scare zones and more to debut later this year.
And in preparation of the event, SeaWorld is offering a ‘sinister sale‘: guests can save up to 70 percent on Howl-O-Scream tickets through July 28.
Howl at the moon as it illuminates this frightful event with four new houses: “Ultimate Gamble”, “Water’s Edge Wellness Center,” “Atlantis Journey Below” and “Farm 51,” where extraterrestrial visitors haunt a farm as you stumble across a dark cornfield abyss to escape.
Howl-O-Scream is set to introduce three new scare zones, including “Paradise Palms,” “Cannibal Horror” and “Seeds of The Coven,” where nature is against humanity, and guests must try to walk through this arboreal nightmare before becoming the next harvest. Returning scare zone favorites like “Blood Light District,” “Toxic Turmoil,” “Terrors of the Deep” and more can also be expected in the lineup.
Themed bars Tormented, Longshoremen’s Tavern and more will offer drinks for guests enduring this ghoulish nightmare.
Howl-O-Scream is also bringing back the spooky live shows “Monster Stomp” and “Siren’s Last Call.”
Howl-O-Scream begins Sept. 6 and runs through Nov. 2. Tickets can be purchased online now.
