  • Lorde, Stray Kids, & More: Here Are The Artists Headlining Gov Ball 2026

    [ad_1]

And just like that, festival season is slowly inching its way upon us. Per usual, New York City’s The Governors Ball Music Festival (aka Gov Ball) is one of the first festivals in the United States to announce its lineup, right behind Coachella. This year’s Gov Ball will take place in sunny June, from the 5th to the 7th in Flushing Meadows Corona Park – learn more about tickets and getting to the festival here. Now, we want to know the lineup.

Here’s who is headlining The Governors Ball 2026:

    Lorde

When we saw Gov Ball teasing the lineup on their Instagram page, we knew Lorde would be a part of it. She had an incredible 2025 with the release of her new album, Virgin, as well as a sold-out arena tour across the United States. One thing is for certain: Lorde’s fans know how to have a good time, especially in a festival setting. Hearing ‘David’ with thousands of people is going to heal us.

    Baby Keem

The decision to announce Baby Keem as a headliner was a bit of a surprise for us, but we’re totally here for it. Baby Keem has so many hits—from ‘family ties’ to ‘HONEST’—that we already know his set is going to be one of the highlights of the weekend. Did you know that Baby Keem is Kendrick Lamar‘s cousin? Maybe we will get a special appearance from our favorite rapper…

    Stray Kids

Yes, we’re all freaking out over here. Stray Kids might just be the most exciting name on the headliner list this year. Nothing compares to a live Stray Kids performance, and this one in NYC is going to be their best yet. We can see it now—the lights, the outfits, the choreography, and of course, the vocals. If you see us pushing our way to the barricade…no, you didn’t.

    Kali Uchis

Saturday’s headliners are showing off with the addition of Kali Uchis. Kali is one of those artists who never fails to surprise us, so we have high expectations for her set at Gov Ball this year. We’re hoping for some special guests (Tyler, The Creator or Omar Apollo) as well as a gorgeous set design and angelic vibes all the way. We’re most looking forward to hearing ‘fue mejor’ live. What about you?

    JENNIE

O.M.G JENNIE is headlining Gov Ball! This is a major moment for us in the hive, and we know you all are freaking out as much as we are. We simply can’t wait until June for this performance—we need to see JENNIE perform on stage now! Sunday morning, we’re sprinting full speed to the barricade to secure the best spot possible. It’s going to be a total ‘Shut Down’ in NYC.

    A$AP Rocky

There is no way we are missing this headlining set! A$AP Rocky is one artist we have yet to see live, and now the time has come. All month, we’ve been vibing to ‘Trunks,’ which is 100% making the setlist. We’re also hoping to hear ‘Sundress’ and ‘Fu**** Problems.’ He’ll be headlining alongside JENNIE on Sunday, which means we have to fit both of their performances in. Sunday is going to be the best night ever!

Get your tickets to see Lorde, Baby Keem, Stray Kids, Kali Uchis, JENNIE, and A$AP Rocky here!

Will you be getting tickets to this year’s Gov Ball? Which of the headliners are you planning to see? Tell us all your thoughts about this year’s lineup in the comments down below or on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram!

  • A Mecca For Live Music: A Review of Gov Ball 2024

A Mecca For Live Music: A Review of Gov Ball 2024

    [ad_1]

If there’s one thing I consistently endorse, it’s the power of a music festival. You get the best bang for your buck by having the opportunity to see dozens of artists all for the price of one weekend pass…and you get the chance to find your next favorite artist.

At their core, music festivals are relatively the same — overpriced drinks, under-seasoned food options,
more overpriced drinks, and, without a doubt, an overflowing port-a-potty or two. You’ll walk at least 10,000 steps per day, your feet will be screaming for help at the end of the night, and your willpower will for sure be tested.

    From
Sea.Hear.Now in New Jersey to Coachella in California, festivals are a little hellish. But they’re incredible. All of these Survivor-esque factors make music festivals fun because you’re all struggling together…but the music makes it worth it.

And this past weekend, thousands flocked to Flushing Meadows Corona Park, New York to see the iconic East Coast festival: Gov Ball. If you’re from the Tri-State area, it’s a guarantee that you or someone you know has attended the Governor’s Ball at least once.

Yet, many warned me that Gov Ball was not what it used to be. However, I wasn’t going to resist such a star-studded lineup. Not only were headliners powerhouses like Post Malone, The Killers, and SZA…but the supporting acts were just as tempting: Sabrina Carpenter, Renee Rapp, and Chappell Roan were some of the names to watch.

So I put on my comfiest sneakers, and I went to Gov Ball 2024. And the big secret of it all is that I had a blast.

The Best Performances At Gov Ball 2024

    The Killers

    @hangrymarn this performance was to die for @The Killers @govballnyc #GovBall #GovBallNYC #MusicFestival #TheKillers #LiveMusic #SummerVibes #ConcertClip #NYCMusic #FestivalSeason ♬ original sound – marn

Brandon Flowers — lead singer of The Killers — declared them “the purveyors of some of the finest rock and roll music” and I can’t say I disagree. Whenever I see The Killers, I’m entranced.

Whether it’s their gospel church-inspired set, with background vocalists, cries of “can I get an AMEN?”, and a minutes-long chant of “I got soul, but I’m not a soldier”…The Killers set is always spiritual.

They play a plethora of their hits from albums like
Hot Fuss — where you get instant classics like “Somebody Told Me”, “Mr. Brightside”, and “All These Things That I’ve Done.” You get newer songs like “Caution” and you come away convinced that rock and roll will never die.

    Renee Rapp

@sillyblonderenee “not to much on the theatre kids bc they can sing, they can sing” AND THATS EXACTLY WHAT SHE DID. thats how u do gov ball! #reneerapp #govball #reneerappsupremacy #inthekitchen #fangirl #theatrekid ♬ original sound – M

By far the finest vocalist at the festival was Renee Rapp, who is on her
Snow Hard Feelings tour. Rapp has had a blockbuster few years, with her show Sex Lives of College Girls, and playing Regina George in the Mean Girls reboot. Songs like “In The Kitchen” and “Pretty Girls” went viral on TikTok.

With a similar stage presence to Billie Eilish, Renee Rapp donned baggy clothes and sunglasses. She crawled around stage, stared longingly into the camera as she sang, and bent forwards and backward up and down the catwalk.

But what really comes through is her voice. She can belt a ballad with the best of them — powerhouses like Jennifer Hudson, Demi Lovato, and Adele. She touches your soul with heartbreaking lyrics, and cracks you up with quips like “I wish this song weren’t written about a man, either.”

If you get the chance to see her live, go.

    Chappell Roan

They need to study the rapid rise of Chappell Roan in the history books. She’s instantaneously synonymous with LGBTQ music icons like Lady Gaga. Her album,
Rise and Fall of a Midwest Person, was originally a favorite of TikTok users…but quickly zipped up the charts.

Her Coachella performance played to a packed tent at full capacity…so there was high anticipation for her Gov Ball mainstage performance. She starts the show by entering in an apple, dressed as the Statue of Liberty, smoking a huge joint — which is the epitome of Chappell Roan.

Roan and her all-female band were captivating from start to finish. With Chappell’s dramatic flare and her band’s ability to absolutely rock out, the whole crowd was entranced by Chappell…including myself.

    Sabrina Carpenter

Another rapidly rising star is Sabrina Carpenter. She opened for Taylor Swift on
The Eras Tour and also had a major Coachella performance. She’s seen chart-topping success with both “Espresso” and now “Please, Please, Please,” and let’s not forget her newly hard-launched relationship with Saltburn’s Barry Keoghan.

Ever since her love triangle with Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett, Carpenter’s love life has been a major topic of conversation…and inspired much of the
emails I can’t send album. Gearing up for her latest era, with millions more monthly streamers, Carpenter has all the star power of the next big pop princess.

She mashed up songs like The Cardigans’ “Lovefool” and her own “Feather”, she belted “because i liked a boy”, and of course sang “Please, Please, Please” for the first time. Big dance breaks, amazing vocal runs, and her quick wit make Sabrina a must-see.

    Post Malone

Post Malone’s set provided one of the lighter moments of the festival when he brought up two individual audience members to perform his ballad, “Stay”, together. If you’re familiar with the song, you know it’s a beautifully haunting slow song.

So, of course, he brings a guitarist — who does fine — and a girl to sing with him. Normally, you’d expect the person who offers to join a famous headliner onstage to be able to sing..so when this girl failed to hit the first note, the crowd knew we were in for a treat.

However, Post Malone sang along and remained professional. Of course, he’s a great performer himself, but this alone lands him a gold star.

How To Have The Best Gov Ball Experience

    @govballnyc soaring over the packed crowd @chappell roan 🗽🍷🔥 #govballnyc #govball 🎥 @colin fpv ♬ original sound – govballnyc

    Although you’re encouraged
not to drive to Gov Ball, I live 40 minutes away and am a public transportation hater. After a few arduous bouts with the subway and buses, I needed to drive there on Sunday or my body would revolt.

Luckily, there was parking available at Citi Field and right next to where the subway drops commuters off. If you’re brave enough to take a ride-share service, I’d recommend leaving at an off-time where you won’t hit traffic from festival-goers or New York City partiers.

If you can afford it, I’d say VIP made my experience 1000x better. It gets you a guaranteed front-row view of the stage and you won’t feel claustrophobic or have to shove fellow audience members out of your way. There are plenty of areas to sit and relax while watching the show, which is something GA doesn’t provide.

However, the food options were quite limited in the VIP areas. So I tried my luck in the GA food vendor areas and ended up waiting for 20 minutes in endless lines. But what did truly saved the weekend was the private bathroom and bar options to avoid those long lines.

Overall, Gov Ball was so much better than anticipated…and I look forward to next year.

  • Wolfgang Puck celebrates 30 years of serving only the finest at Oscars Governors Ball

Wolfgang Puck celebrates 30 years of serving only the finest at Oscars Governors Ball

    [ad_1]

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — What’s a celebration without delicious food and drinks? Well, the Oscars ceremony is the biggest celebration in Hollywood so of course the treats and drinks will be top notch.

Master chef Wolfgang Puck is celebrating an “Oscar” milestone as he marks his 30th year catering the event. For three decades, Puck has returned to serve up his delicious creations at the Oscars Governors Ball.

“It’s a great thing to do it for 30 years,” he said. “When I look back at my life, my career, I said, ‘You know, longevity is really the most important thing.’ Why? Because a lot of restaurants come and go, but very few stay on.”

While he says he can’t pick just one dish as his favorite, he says he – of course – will be serving the crowd favorite: potpie!

“We always have a great variety of traditional innovation. You cannot make everything new all the time because then people are going to miss the old stuff too,” said Puck.

Along with a detailed menu comes an exquisite selection of beverages for the occasion.

“The Oscars are about culture and the celebration of excellence, so I think for us to come together, you can’t celebrate excellence in German culture without good food and good wine,” said Clarendelle CEO Prince Robert de Luxembourg.

“There’s only champagne as a celebration drink, and the Oscars is such a celebration of art and craftsmanship and that’s who we are as well,” said Alexis Blondel, Chef de Cave Adjoint.

Of course, you can’t forget about the desserts (like a chocolate cigar!)

Plus, at the Governors Ball, everyone can go home a winner with a mini Oscar statue covered in 24 karat gold.

“We really kind of combined and married a lot of really fun, unique ideas to really make this ‘our Oscars’ if that makes sense,” said Executive Pastry Chef Ellen Maloney.

DON’T MISS the 2024 Oscars live Sunday on ABC! Red carpet coverage starts at 1 p.m. ET | 10 a.m. PT with “Countdown to Oscars: On The Red Carpet Live.” At 4 p.m. ET | 1 p.m. PT, live coverage continues with “On The Red Carpet at the Oscars,” hosted by George Pennacchio with Roshumba Williams, Leslie Lopez and Rachel Brown.

The 96th Oscars, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, begins at 7 p.m. ET | 4 p.m. PT, an hour earlier than past years, followed by an all-new episode of “Abbott Elementary.”

  • How Chef Wolfgang Puck prepares for the Academy Awards Governors Ball – WTOP News

How Chef Wolfgang Puck prepares for the Academy Awards Governors Ball – WTOP News

    [ad_1]

“This is not my first rodeo,” Austrian-born chef and restaurateur Wolfgang Puck, told WTOP about catering the Academy Awards Governors Ball.

HOLLYWOOD, CA – FEBRUARY 18: Master chef Wolfgang Puck (C) prepares samples from the menu for display during the 88th Annual Academy Awards Governors Ball press preview at The Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland Center on February 18, 2016 in Hollywood, California. For Wolfgang Puck, catering the Academy Awards Governors Ball is a familiar walk in the park.

“This is not my first rodeo,” the Austrian-born chef and restaurateur told WTOP.

This should be no surprise because 2024 marks the 30th year that Wolfgang Puck Catering has worked at the Governors Ball — the annual party that is hosted after the Oscars.

Puck told WTOP that even before he got the chance to cater for the annual event, he hosted Oscar after-parties for a decade at his Beverly Hills restaurant, Spago, alongside Irving Paul “Swifty” Lazar, who he described as a “super agent.”

Talent agent Lazar is known for having represented several well-known stars, such as Madonna, Truman Capote, Joan Collins, Cher and Gene Kelly, among others. Two years after Lazar passed away in 1993, Puck catered the Governors Ball for the first time in 1995.

This year, there will be six buffets and a variety of appetizers to go around. The menu, which was created by Puck and chef Eric Klein with pastry design by Kamel Guechida and Garry Larduinat, includes luxe dishes, such as gold-dusted truffled popcorn, Korean steak tartare on puffed rice and desserts, such as an elderflower champagne parfait with a raspberry espuma.

According to Puck, though, one of the all-time favorite dishes that he serves is the chicken pot pie.

Puck told WTOP that he remembers Prince Albert of Monaco asking him when he was going to open a restaurant in Monaco with the prince recalling the chicken pot pie that was served at the Oscars.

“It’s really interesting how people remember the dishes,” Puck said.

Puck said that his team of chefs comes from all over the world — London, Istanbul, Los Angeles and beyond. There are approximately 600 servers and bartenders with a guest list that totals more 1,500.

With the long schedule of the day’s events, Puck said, “Everybody’s hungry” by the time the after-party starts, but “people never go home hungry.”

The stars are typically up early in the morning to get their hair, makeup and outfits ready before arriving for the preshow in the early afternoon, with the ceremony starting around 5 p.m. PST. This year, however, the Academy Awards will start an hour earlier on Sunday, March 10, at 4 p.m. PST and 7 p.m. EST.

Earlier this year, Puck and his son, Byron, sat down with WTOP to discuss his family legacy and the potential for new restaurants. Learn more about how he has been a mainstay of D.C.’s food culture for several years now and his expanding interest in it.
