    Crews were called to a frozen creek in Maryland to help rescue a dog that was trapped on the ice. According to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, Monday morning, crews from their department, along with the Annapolis Fire Department, were called to Luce Creek for a reported chocolate lab stuck on the ice in Parole, Maryland, which is outside Annapolis and is around 27 miles from Baltimore.Crews arrived at the area and were able to locate the dog. They carefully went on the ice and used a Stokes basket in order to rescue the dog. Officials remind the public that the ice on area waterways is dangerously thin. Stay off the ice and if a person or pet falls through the ice, do not attempt a rescue on their own.

So we thought about making this as a community engagement,” Tony Ching said, later adding, “So many people will just drive by, they’ll roll down the window and be like baaa.” Noticing how much their neighbors love the animals, the family created Chingóat, which is a free neighborhood activity that allows neighbors to walk, feed, or just spend time with their goats.     A large wind turbine blade detached and fell into a cranberry bog in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on Friday afternoon. Plymouth Fire Chief Neil Foley says they received a call from a concerned neighbor around 1:52 p.m. who noticed one of the three blades on the 300-foot-tall wind turbine was missing.Firefighters located the detached blade several hundred feet away from the base, resting in an open cranberry bog. Sister station WCVB’s Sky5 was over the scene of the broken blade, which is between 75 to 100 feet long. We did not see any additional detached blades in the area.There were no injuries, and there is no threat to the public.The maintenance company responsible for the wind turbine responded to the scene and said the turbine automatically entered a fail-safe mode, shutting down immediately after the blade detached.They’re still conducting inspections to determine the cause of the failure, according to fire officials.“We were fortunate that this turbine is located out in the middle of the cranberry bogs and not in a residential area,” said Chief Foley. “Thankfully, no one was hurt, and the turbine automatically shut itself down as designed. As we continue to investigate, MassDEP and Inspectional Services will now do their due diligence to ensure this incident is addressed appropriately and the impacted area is cleaned up safely.”The maintenance company has cordoned off the area and is arranging for contractors to clean up the scene.

    According to SEPTA spokesperson Andrew Busch, the incident occurred on the westbound side of the L at Girard Station around 8:45 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025.

    The transit agency released surveillance footage that showed a woman walking along the platform when she suddenly fell onto the tracks. She appeared to try to climb out but struggled to pull herself back onto the platform.

    Busch said that’s when a bystander then came over and helped her out.

    “We are grateful for the quick-thinking and actions of the customer who assisted the woman who fell into the tracks. SEPTA would like to remind riders to always keep safety top of mind, and always stay behind the yellow line until the train has pulled into the station and come to a complete stop,” SEPTA said in a statement.

    At this time, it is unclear if the woman was injured or what caused her to fall.

    Gavin Edwards got a crashing introduction to one of his neighbors Wednesday when a deer crashed through the storm door of his Fuquay-Varina home. 

    Edwards, who moved to the Tar Heel state from Los Angeles in 2022, said “This is so North Carolina.”

    His doorbell camera captured the break-in. 

    “The stag came first,” he said. “In one head butt … shattered my storm door and busted in the front door. The doe jumped over his shoulder and ran inside.”

    Edwards, who works from home, was just waking up when he heard the crash. 

    “It sounded like somebody basically dumped all the plates and dishes in my kitchen on the floor. It was a huge crash,” he said.

    Edwards came eye to eye with the animal in his living room. “It was really tall,” he said. “The deer came in, went through the kitchen, walked through the living room, stared me down and then bolted out the front door.”

    No one was injured, and Edwards’ landlord was able to quickly repair the damage. “I’ve got a really good management company,” he said. “He actually had the door jamb repaired by the end of the day, so we’re able to close our front door.

    EDISON, New Jersey — A driver managed to fight off three would-be carjackers trying to steal his luxury SUV in the parking lot of a New Jersey grocery store.

    Surveillance video captured three masked suspects trying to pull the driver out of his car Friday afternoon. It happened before he even finished parking outside the Patel Brothers grocery store on Oak Tree Road in Edison.

    The suspects got the driver out and knocked him down, but he fought back and got away from the suspects.

    Toni Yates has more on the carjacking incident from Edison.

    He ran into the store and called police.

    His father, the store’s owner, spoke out about the incident on Tuesday.

    “When I saw the video I was scared, what happened, but then I called and my son said, ‘I’m safe dad, don’t worry, everything is good, just minor scratches,’” Kaushik Patel said.

    The driver had his key fob in his pocket, so the suspects were not able to steal the SUV.

    His son is OK physically and was already back to work by Tuesday, but he is still shaken up as it was the second time he was targeted by carjackers. The first time they got away with his Mercedes G-Class SUV.

    The mayor of Edison is launching his anti-crime counterattack swiftly.

    “We have tripled and sometimes quadrupled the presence of the police force around the streets and patrolling,” Mayor Sam Joshi said. “We’ve also implemented over 80 license plate readers.”

    He also got Middlesex County to loan him a trailer to set up a police substation in the hot zone where carjackings and home invasions are up.

    Leaders are fed up with the crimes and went to the top law enforcement officer in the state for help.

    “I just left a meeting with the attorney general and I was with other mayors, a juvenile or a criminal that commits a crime should not go back out on the streets the same week they are caught. It is completely unacceptable,” Joshi said.

    The incidents mainly involve young teens going after high-end vehicles, according to police. Investigators say the suspects can make tens of thousands of dollars for each vehicle they steal.

    Authorities are still searching for the attempted carjacking suspects in Friday’s attack.

    MARINA DEL REY, Calif. (KABC) — Thieves targeted six Marina del Rey businesses in overnight smash-and-grab burglaries, at least one of which was captured on surveillance video, authorities said.

    Three suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the break-ins, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, but whether the suspects and all six of the burglaries were connected remained unclear. Investigators confirmed that each of the individuals in custody lives in the area.

    At one of the businesses, a Greek restaurant, video footage shows a lone intruder shattering a glass front door before heading straight for the cash register behind a counter.

    All six of the businesses were hit in the hours after midnight, the LAPD said.

    Riverside smash-and-grab robbers steal thousands in jewelry as owner opens fire

    Video shows one of the startled robbers fall to the ground and drop his hammer as the owner opened fire.

    Officers initially responded to the Ultra Beauty store on Maxella Avenue, just east of Lincoln Boulevard. Other nearby establishments were also burglarized, including a Starbucks location, a juice bar and a Hawaiian barbecue restaurant

    “They were up there cleaning, they heard the windows starting to break,” said Rick Tavarez of Commercial Property Maintenance. “There’s no visibility of what’s going on from where they were. If you go up on the top and you walk around the corner, there’s a balcony over there, and so … the person that was cleaning walked around, looked down, saw the people breaking in the windows, called 911. They saw her and they took off.”

    No estimate of the amount of cash and merchandise that was stolen was immediately available.

    SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — A flight from San Francisco International Airport had to make an emergency landing in Denver on Monday because of problems with the wing.

    One of the passengers took video where you can see damage to a part of a flap on the wing with a chunk apparently ripped off.

    The flight was headed to Boston at the time.

    United Airlines says the flight landed safely and another plane took customers all the way to Boston — where they arrived early Tuesday Morning.

    A typical afternoon at a New York City pet shop took an unexpected twist when a woman allegedly started kicking at a number of kennels inside. But the outburst didn’t stop there.

    The whole ordeal only lasted a few moments — mostly caught on camera — and ended with a brutal assault against another person perusing to store.

    First, cops say the woman started kicking kennels filled with puppies and when she was asked to leave by the store’s manager, police say the woman directed her anger somewhere else — and slapped a woman before walking out of the shop.

    The video starts with Citipups employees telling the woman to leave the Chelsea store, but when she notices someone’s recording, she smacks the phone.

    The woman moves toward the exit but stops briefly to slap a woman, a tourist visiting from Texas, across the face. Her head flys back, obviously hurt by the assault, but her attacker isn’t done yet.

    The video then shows the woman reach the door and turn around to spit in the direction of the woman she just slapped.

    After she makes a turn, she approaches a tourist from Texas standing in the store and slaps her across the face.

    “It’s just nuts,” store manager Emilio Ortiz said.

    Ortiz witnessed the bizarre encounter, and he’s also the person who captured it all on camera.

    “Her hitting that woman in the face and walking out. She had nothing to do with it. That was that lady’s first time in New York. First day, she’s visiting New York and to get assaulted by some random person,” Ortiz explained.

    Ortiz said on Saturday the pet shop was packed and before his camera began rolling it was a regular day. People were milling about, admiring the dogs.

    Then, all of a sudden, the now wanted woman started kicking the kennels. The dogs were startled but unharmed.

    The tourist, on the other hand, was badly injured. The slap left her with a bloody nose and lots of facial swelling.

    Police are still trying to track down the woman, who they say could face an assault charge.
