  • Ignite 2025: Innovations that will transform the ways we work – Microsoft in Business Blogs

    [ad_1]

If Microsoft Ignite 2025 showed us anything, it’s that AI has entered a new era.

More than simply process automation, AI has become the intelligent foundation for a more productive, more collaborative, and more secure way to work. When paired with human ingenuity, it has the power to transform business functions everywhere from top to bottom.

The organizations poised for the greatest success in the future are the ones embracing the Frontier Firm—human-led, agent-operated—transformation and the tools that enable it.

During the conference, we shared more than 70(!) announcements, all aimed at ensuring that everyone can do their best, most strategic work. Across all these exciting new products and features, several themes emerged: strengthening AI integration, driving ubiquitous innovation, and making agents easier to manage and secure.

    AI that joins your flow

Powerful, effective AI isn’t an add-on, it’s an integral part of the everyday systems and tools that businesses use. The more your AI learns about the way every team member works and the shared goals of your organization, the more valuable it can be toward helping you achieve success.

As the intelligence layer behind Microsoft 365 Copilot, Work IQ enables Copilot to bring organizational data—emails, files, meetings, documents—and personal data, including work habits and preferences, together to gain a better understanding of the flow and goals of your unique business. It then uses this combined data to discover insights, make connections, and provide predictions.

The result is AI that’s more in tune with how your people work and the goals you’re trying to achieve together.

The key to innovation with AI is context. Data provides vital information, but true insights come when AI is able to connect it to the “real world” of your business.

During Ignite, we announced three new products that have been designed to help businesses bridge the gap between raw data and meaning in order to understand context and drive progress.

By bringing together analytical, time series and location-based data with operational systems, Fabric IQ enables both people and AI to act in real-time. Mapping data sets to real-world entities creates a shared semantic structure and ensures that insights, predictions, and actions are grounded in the way you operate.

Foundry IQ goes further by enabling more advanced agent reasoning and more value for builders. It does this by grounding agents over multiple data points—including custom applications and the web—through a single knowledge endpoint with routing and intelligence built in.

And Microsoft Agent Factory brings these layers together, empowering everyone in the organization to create AI agents with confidence. It enables builders to deploy agents anywhere, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, without the need for upfront licensing and provisioning. And eligible organizations can also tap into hands-on support and training to help boost AI fluency.

    AI that’s manageable at scale

As more and more agents become integrated with process, organizations need to be able to observe, manage, and secure the ones in their ecosystem.

Agent 365 leverages the same apps and protections you use to manage your people but tailors them to agents, simplifying the integration process. Through visualizations, dashboards, and other tools, administrators can get a clear view of how agents are being used—even if they are created on open-source frameworks or third-party platforms—and ensure they are productive and protected.

Fueling the Frontier Firm transformation Microsoft Ignite

The innovations announced at Microsoft Ignite 2025 are both the result of and the catalyst for the Frontier transformation.

From Work IQ synthesizing countless data points about your organization, your work, and you, to innovations that make creating, monitoring, and securing AI agents as simple as a click of a button, each advancement has been designed with one goal in mind: helping businesses supercharge operations, power productivity, and unlock innovation.

We can’t wait to see what you do with them.

  • AI agents: The next wave of AI-powered innovation  – Microsoft in Business Blogs

    [ad_1]

Across industries and daily life, a profound shift is underway: AI is evolving from a simple tool to an indispensable colleague, reshaping the very nature of work. It’s helping us reimagine how work gets done by blending human judgment with digital labor.

At Microsoft, we call the companies leading this shift “Frontier Firms.” I love seeing how their employees and customers are harnessing AI agents to fuel productivity, spark creativity, and unlock new opportunities. And they’re not alone: according to the 2025 Work Trend Index, 82% of business leaders surveyed expect to use digital labor to expand their workforce in the next 12 to 18 months.

I’ve seen firsthand how AI is empowering people and transforming organizations. Companies across the Americas and beyond are harnessing AI to achieve things that once seemed impossible.

Transforming productivity into purpose with AI agents

Within my teams and other Frontier Firms, I’ve seen how incorporating AI agents in human-digital teams enhances productivity and unlocks more time for work that truly matters. AI agents go beyond just data retrieval—they reason, act, and collaborate, making them versatile tools for different business operations.

For Frontier Firms, AI agents work alongside or on behalf of employees to complete tasks, update records, and orchestrate end-to-end workflows. Leaders of these organizations are almost twice as likely to say their companies are thriving—71% compared to 37% globally—and 90% report more opportunities for meaningful work.

Teams that embed Microsoft 365 Copilot into their workflows are boosting productivity and doubling down on their investment. For our Americas Enterprise and Federal accounts, nearly 95% of Microsoft 365 Copilot purchases in the first half of 2025 were expansions, illustrating the satisfaction and value customers are receiving from Copilot.

This momentum isn’t limited to the private sector—educational institutions are also harnessing AI to empower students and educators. At Miami Dade College (MDC), students use custom AI-powered assistants as around-the-clock study companions that offer instant feedback and guidance. In the first semester of implementation, MDC saw a 15% increase in pass rates and a 12% decrease in dropout rates for challenging science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and advanced analytics courses.

With AI, Microsoft and other Frontier Firms are leading the way with a unique blend of digital labor and human ingenuity.

Embracing AI agents to foster innovation and productivity

Incorporating AI agents empowers organizations to streamline operations in ways that increase job satisfaction and deliver superior customer experiences. I’ve seen that promoting AI literacy inspires employees to embrace digital labor, fostering innovation that modernizes business processes. But only 40% of employees report being familiar with AI agents, highlighting the need for training and transparency on how AI agents work.

With a people-first mindset, we can encourage employees to make AI work for them in new ways. For example, CSX created multiple AI agents to enhance both employee and customer experiences. The company deployed an internal AI agent to help employees quickly find information about medical benefits. CSX then developed “Chessie for ShipCSX,” an AI-driven agent that customers can use to track freight, manage shipments, and access rail logistics services from the company website. In the first 45 days, over 1,000 customers consulted Chessie across more than 4,000 conversations.

This spirit of empowerment is echoed across industries. Persistent Systems developed Contract Assist, an AI-powered agent built using generative AI and Microsoft 365 Copilot, to reduce emails during negotiations by 95% and cut navigation and negotiation time by 70%. This kind of agent-driven innovation not only streamlines work but also empowers employees to focus on higher-value and more meaningful tasks.

Together, these stories illustrate that when organizations prioritize people and equip them with AI agents, the result is a more innovative, inclusive, and engaged workplace.

    Reimagining work with AI

The rise of AI agents marks a turning point—not just for technology, but for people and organizations everywhere. We’re seeing a new era where digital teammates amplify human ingenuity, unlock meaningful work, and foster cultures of innovation and inclusion.

Whether you’re just starting your AI journey or leading the charge as a Frontier Firm, the opportunity to transform work and purpose is within reach. Imagine what your teams could achieve with AI agents that reason, act, and collaborate alongside you.

At Microsoft, we’re committed to empowering every organization to harness the full potential of agentic AI. Together, we can shape a future where technology elevates people, drives progress, and redefines what’s possible.

  • What empowers modern CFOs to lead with confidence and agility

    [ad_1]

When Argyro Apostolou joined her family’s business, founded more than 40 years ago by her father, Isidoros Garifalakis, she didn’t step right into the C-suite. She started as a receptionist at the front desk, learning the business from the ground up. Today, she’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Omega Industries (Omega), one of the largest suppliers of main-line railroad crossings in the United States.

Her journey reflects a new reality: today’s CFOs aren’t focused solely on financial oversight, they’re leading enterprise-wide transformation. Argyro exemplifies this evolution. With Microsoft Dynamics 365, she makes faster decisions and helps future-proof Omega for the road ahead.

From gut instinct to predictive insight: the data-driven CFO

“I’ve seen how dramatically finance has changed,” Argyro reflects. “Thirty years ago, technology was scary. We didn’t trust it. But over time, I’ve come to see it as one of our greatest allies.”

Argyro Apostolou, CFO Omega Industries, with a gradient background.

At Omega, Microsoft Dynamics 365 has become foundational to how the business operates. With real-time data at her fingertips, Argyro and her team act with better speed and precision. “With Dynamics, we’re not just faster, we’re better. The insights are accurate, timely and actionable. We make decisions with confidence because the data backs us.”

That reliability was put to the test in September 2024, when Omega experienced a major cybersecurity incident that shut down its servers and network access. Thanks to Dynamics 365 Business Central, the team retained access to a full year of data and continued paying vendors, billing customers and tracking sales without interruption. Without a cloud-based system, the organization would have faced weeks of operational downtime while restoring on-premises data. Instead, its continuity was preserved, and recovery was swift.

This kind of resilience changes how Argyro leads. “I can spot risks early. I see patterns before they become problems. I act decisively, and more importantly, I now spend more time thinking ahead. I feel more energized than ever, allowing myself to dream bigger.”

Explore how connected data can empower your finance, sales, service and operations teams. Learn more about Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, trusted by over 45,000 small and midsize businesses.

    Business impact at a glance

Since adopting Dynamics 365, Omega’s finance team has accelerated operations, empowered employees and positioned the organization for future growth:

    • Up to 50%-time savings on daily finance tasks
    • 60% faster month-end close
    • Improved forecasting and planning accuracy
    • Faster response times to customer and executive inquiries
    • Streamlined, cross-functional collaboration companywide

For Argyro, the impact of digital transformation goes beyond the numbers, it changes how people perform.

“When employees feel prepared and supported, they’re more confident. They collaborate better. They lead in their own roles.”

Before Dynamics 365, accessing project or sales data required help from multiple departments. Today, finance teams operate in a shared, secure cloud environment, where data is available instantly without bottlenecks or silos.

“Now, my team has the tools they need to do their jobs. And it shows in how they carry themselves, how they make decisions and in the quality of their work.”

That same readiness extends to the customer experience. For Argyro, data is the key to delivering service with consistency and care. “I can only have a satisfied customer if I’m prepared to serve them. And the only way I can be sure we’re prepared is by looking at the data. That’s how I know we have what we need to deliver.”

Discover more about Argyro and her team’s transformation in the full Omega case study.

Building a culture of confidence with technology

For leaders navigating digital transformation, Argyro offers a clear insight: the tech is only half the equation.

“Change management is just as important as the technology itself,” she explains. “You need to prepare your people: emotionally and practically. When people hear about new systems, there’s fear. Will this replace my job? Will I still belong? As leaders, we have to be transparent. We have to communicate. We have to show people that they’re part of the change.”

A CFO blueprint for leading forward

From front desk to boardroom, Argyro Apostolou’s journey is one of vision, resilience and reinvention. As CFO, she’s showing how finance leaders can become digital catalysts, driving growth, efficiency and innovation with the right systems in place.

“My role is to spark change in people, in processes, in what we believe is possible. With the right tools, we’re not just keeping up. We’re leading forward.”

Omega’s transformation proves what’s possible when CFOs embrace cloud, AI and automation to scale smarter and faster.

Reimagine what your finance team can do, exploring leadership strategies for AI-driven transformation.
