Best-selling author Nicholas Sparks comes to Orlando this week for a special engagement at the Dr. Phillips Center in partnership with the Orange County Public Library system.

Sparks, best known for worldwide lit hits The Notebook, A Walk to Remember and The Last Song, will take part in a moderated conversation in front of a live audience at Steinmetz Hall. He’ll hold forth on inspiration, the creative process and his life.

A couple of years ago, mind-bogglingly, a few of Sparks’ works got caught up in the madness of the Florida public-school book ban of over 700 titles. Hopefully that comes up in conversation.

7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, Steinmetz Hall, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, 445 S. Magnolia Ave., drphillipscenter.org, $41.30-$64.90.
