Gatsby’s Game Café opens new spot at Samanea New York
Lesso Mall Development (Samanea New York) in Westbury celebrated the grand opening of Gatsby’s Game Café. The new location provides visitors with a social, interactive experience including a curated library of more than 400 games available to buy and/or play on-site, and staff who guide guests through new favorites. Guests can enjoy everything from casual café dining, strategy competitions to puzzle races, tournaments and after-school enrichment in a new form of community space.
Long Island-based entrepreneur Neil Goldberg opened the Main Street Board Game café in Huntington in 2019 and selected Samanea New York for its first expansion as the ideal location for indoor entertainment.
The café is open 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekends.
Rep. Gillen hosts discussion on impacts of rising healthcare costs
Rep. Laura Gillen led a roundtable on the effects of increasing healthcare costs on Long Islanders at Harmony Healthcare in Roosevelt. Gillen was joined by Vanessa Baird-Streeter, CEO of the Health and Welfare Council of Long Island; David Nemiroff, CEO of Harmony Healthcare; Stacey Jackson-Harley, COO of Harmony Healthcare; Karen Brandon, a Floral Park resident and two Harmony Health patient board members from Freeport and Roosevelt.
During the roundtable, Gillen and the community contributors highlighted the growing challenge of unaffordable healthcare costs facing Long Islanders and discussed the importance of ensuring residents across New York’s 4th Congressional District have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare.
ACLD Foundation raises $170K at annual golf outing
ACLD Foundation’s yearly golf outing raised $170,000 for the exclusive benefit of Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD). Held at Glen Head Country Club, the fundraiser brought together 180 golfers, sponsors, business leaders and community supporters for a day of friendly competition, networking and philanthropy.
The outing honored Mitch Cohen, president and CEO of DRP Solutions. Cohen was recognized for his commitment to ACLD and his advocacy for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
People’s Arc of Suffolk donates $1K toward belltower restoration
In support of the historic St. Ann’s Episcopal Church belltower, People’s Arc of Suffolk donated $1,000 for its restoration. The funds will aid in preserving one of Sayville’s historic landmarks, (which has been in the communty since 1887), as well as help helping to ensure it remains for many years to come.
The donation was made possible through proceeds raised from People’s Arc of Suffolk’s annual Shark Tank Showdown fundraiser, held in March at the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead.
