NAPOLEAN, Ohio — The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency says it found the source of contamination in the Huston Creek waterway in Flatrock Township.
The Ohio EPA said it found that Triway Nitrogren’s liquid fertilizer had released from the Farmers Elevator Associations property.
Officials are monitoring the situation and is working with the cooperative during the clean up. The cooperative also hired an environmental cleanup company to help.
There’s no set time for when cleanup will be complete.
The Henry County Emergency management agency stated it was made aware of the contamination on July 3.
Officials said when they went to investigate, there was an unknown product in the creek.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, the Henry County Engineer, the Henry County EMA and a private contractor are working to resolve the situation.
Henry County EMA states that the contamination has not affected the Maumee River, and there are no safety impacts.
