Lows will likely end up near, at, or below freezing each of the next two mornings ahead.

Clearing skies and a lack of shower activity allowed the Queen City to make a surprise run at 70°, falling just a degree short this afternoon. Spring gives us the cold shoulder tonight as lows plummet into the 20s and 30s. Wind chills will likely be in the 20s as gusts approach 30 mph overnight from the northeast. Abundant sunshine will aid temperatures in their recovery back into the 60s for most across the Piedmont and Foothills, despite the northeasterly breezes. The High Country will also enjoy clear skies as afternoon temperatures top out in the mid-50s.

The sunshine and good times will continue their roll into the workweek, but another frosty morning is likely on Monday. Highs will struggle to get much above 60° across the Piedmont and Foothills in the afternoon. More clouds arrive from the west on Tuesday ahead of an expansive cold front, but highs should still get into the 60s around the Metro. Midweek doesn’t look like a washout, but rain chances will be on the incline on Wednesday. Some models are stalling the incoming front to our east towards the back half of the week, which could keep rain chances in the forecast as an area of low pressure rides along the Carolina coastline.

Tonight: Clear and cold. Low: 35°. Wind: NE 10-20. Gusts: 25+

Sunday: Sunny and breezy. High: 61°. Wind: NE 5-15. Gusts: 20+

Sunday Night: Another cold night. Frost likely. Low: 33°. Wind: NE 5-15.
