Forceful winds expected around Portland as atmospheric river approaches

[ad_1]

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Frosty morning temperatures fade to clearer and breezy conditions on Friday.

Strong easterly winds will start to take shape across western Oregon and southwest Washington Friday morning. These down-sloping easterly winds will help warm Portland area temperatures into the mid-60s as a mix of sun and clouds returns to the region. Wind gusts could be near 30-35 mph at times.

Wind gusts begin to slow as Portland’s rain chances increase after sunset on Friday. Rain showers are expected to ramp up during the late evening hours. Friday’s rainy end to the day is the start of Oregon and Washington’s latest atmospheric river event this weekend.

The soggy weather will keep a tight grip on the Pacific Northwest this weekend. Rain is expected to remain through the middle of next week. Rain accumulation could be nearly two inches in some locations.

Portland’s soggy and cool end to the month of October

Temperatures will cool back into the 50s next week. Halloween is the first day that starts to look slightly drier, but a few stray showers could impact trick-or-treating plans.
