Crystal River plans 4th of July fireworks bash

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. — Crystal River is offering a July 4th event on Saturday in the city’s town square, leading up to fireworks over Kings Bay that night.

The city is promising vendors, live music (an AC/DC tribute band) and numerous free events for kids. That includes face painting, a splash pad and a dunk tank, said Madeline Scarborough, community engagement director for Crystal River.

“We’ve made sure to incorporate arts and crafts, games, inflatables – everything that could keep the kids going and having a lot of fun – for free,” Scarborough told Spectrum Bay News 9.

The event will culminate at 9 p.m. with fireworks over Kings Bay, said Crystal River city manager Audra Curts.

“It’s going to be a rocking 4th of July 4 this time,” Curts said.

City leaders expect thousands of people to attend. They do believe there will be enough parking, but suggest people look for parking on both sides of U.S. 19.

The event in the town square runs 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. The fireworks at 9 p.m. are weather-permitting.
