5 critically injured in fiery Orange County crash, troopers say

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —

A crash in an Orange County neighborhood injured five people on Thursday night, according to first responders.

A spokesperson with Florida Highway Patrol said the two-car crash happened near Landstar Boulevard and Iowa Woods Circle in the Meadow Woods area.

Florida Highway Patrol said a 78-year-old man was driving a 2022 Subaru Outback with a 49-year-old woman as a passenger. He was on Iowa Woods Circle at a stop sign, waiting to make a left turn onto Landstar Boulevard.

As he started to left turn, troopers said he failed to yield to a 2009 Honda Civic travelling on Landstar Boulevard, driven by a 19-year-old man with two passengers: an 18-year-old and 20-year-old man.

FHP said the Outback struck the front left side of the Civic, causing the Civic to run off the road and hit a tree.

A spokesperson with Orange County Fire Rescue said one of the cars caught fire in the crash and three patients were entrapped before they were rescued.

FHP said all five people were critically injured and taken to the hospital, and the crash remains under investigation.
