Children among eight wounded in July 4th shooting in Coney Island

Five people were shot Saturday night in Coney Island, Brooklyn, including four children ages 6, 7, 12, and 14, police sources told NBC New York.

The shooting happened on Surf Ave. near the amphitheater.

The adult victims range in age from 21 to 37.

As of early Sunday morning, all the victims were reported to be alive. One victim, a 21-year-old female, is in critical condition.

According to police, a firearm was recovered at the scene.

It’s not clear what led to the mass shooting. No arrests have been made.
